Having trouble upgrading to Leopard......

First off, sorry if this seems like a stupid or obvious question.
I'm currently running Panther and am trying to upgrade to Leopard but after I insert the CD and restart it goes to a dark gray screen and then I get that spinning pin wheel and it just stays like that. I did read where it takes around 15-30 minutes to get to the install screen but the last time I did it I let it sit for over an hour before I quit.
Can somebody help me out? Thanks.

Try resetting your PRAM.

Also try booting holding the C key after you reset the PRAM instead of having the instal disc do the restart. If you get to the instal screen, run the Disc Utility and repair permissions.

I did just add a 2TB Drive to the set-up (OWC Mercury Elite AL-Pro) in a Daisy chain of 2 other 2TB drives and a 3TB Drive that had been working perfectly up until now. I was able to use it yesterday, but now it has gone haywire and I lose connections while working on files or saving files. Have to restart server and it works for a while, but then drops off. I'm having trouble upgrading the domain which is created in a prior release of weblogic to 10.3.2.
I tried to start the server and it prompted me with the option of upgrading. But somehow failed to do the upgrade.

After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...

Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 6 things it does are...
Correct any Disk problems.
Repair Permissions.
Clear out Cache Files.
Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
Trash old Log files.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files!
Disconnect the USB cable from any Uninterpretable Power Supply so the system doesn't shut down in the middle of the process.

One step listed in the link to "helpful" info, was (when Iooked 30 seconds ago), to search for and download the newest version of iTunes. I'm running iTunes on Win 7 machine and was prompted to update today, 10.22.2014, and did so without a problem. Having said that, however, it looks as though the latest iTunes (12.0.1.26) is finally doing what the last version refused to do, which is to actually fully populate all my playlists on my 6, but there is a hitch: 12.0.1.26 will NOT allow you to show the sidebar unless you click on "playlists," that is, you cannot keep it open all the time.
And, when plugging the 6 into the computer, the phone icon shows up but clicking on it does nada. What does work, for some strange reason, is clicking on the tiny icon (just under the "Store" menu link at top screen) which looks much like a tiny barrel, someone's idea of external drives, I suppose. The phone then comes up, with the list of stuff on the phone just under it where the sidebar used to be. Sync is now restricted to the lower right of the screen.
Apparently, you will also need to update your iPhone's software as well; some friends with the 4 and 4s, however, had troubles with them after upgrading. The message from Silicon Valley (I can see Apple from my backyard, ha ha) is apparently, "keep upgrading," folks, get rid of those old phones.

I'm having trouble upgrading from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion on MacBook Pro

I'm having issues trying to upgrade to Mountain Lion on my MacBook Pro. I'm running the latest version of Snow Leopard but everytime I try to buy the app in the apple store to upgrade to Mountain Lion it alerts me that my system is not compatibale. I don't' understand I read all the requirements and I meet all of them. My MacBook Pro is from mid to late 2007, I have 3G's of RAM, I have an Intel Duo Core 2, I'm running the latest Snow Leopard.
Anyone else encounter this problem? Any suggestions?

I'm having a problem upgrading my operating system to SL 10.6.3. When I insert the install disc my iMac just rejects the disc without mounting it. My hard drive is not cluttered with applications because I mainly just surf the web. The several times I was able to get the install disc to mount, when I try to install the disc just ejects. I'm having the same problem with the Tiger 10.4 install disc when I try to restart in 10.4 so I can run disc utilities disc repair it ejects even holding down the c key. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. jwgpp

I am having trouble upgrading OS. 2008 MacBook Air 1,1 with OS 10.5.8 with 2GB.

I've browsed through the answers in this community and elsewhere online. From what I understand, I need to start with Snow Leopard and move on from there, but it seems to require a DVD reader, which I obviously don't have on the MacBook Air.
So I tried to access the apps store through the iTunes store, in order to see which OS I can download from there, but I can't seem to access a list of OS because all I'm seeing are the apps for iPhone and iPad.
I'm pretty proficient using tech, but it's my first time upgrading/maintaining a device. Your help is much appreciated!

I'm Having Trouble upgrading to itunes 7.0.2

My computer won't let me upgrade to itunes version 7.0.2, I'm currently at some version of 6.0. I think it's doing some wierd error or something. Halfway through the download a pop-up comes on my screen and say cannot access HKEY, the address of the HKEY is: HKEYLOCALMACHINE\Software\Classes\QuicktimePlayerLib.QuicktimePlayerApplCLSID. The pop-up says this key cannot be accessed and then says to verify I have access to this key (which I don't know how to do) or contact my support personnel. So can someone please help me fix this problem, or else I will never be able to upgrade.

I was having the same problem, but then i ran the Windows Installer Utility clean up and removed QuickTime, and tried downloading iTunes with QuickTime again, and it worked perfectly, i was so happy. so it couldn't hurt to give it a try.

You are pretty much to the point where you need to make a backup of the internal drive, then do an erase and then install Snow Leopard.
It would be very good to get an external hard drive and use something like Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the internal drive to the external drive.

On my Mac OSX 10.4.11, having trouble upgrading to Quicktime Pro

On my Mac OSX 10.4.11, I upgraded Quicktime 7.6.4 to Quicktime Pro. My problem is, when doing transitions in iMovie, I get the message to check the "enable flash checkbox under the Advanced Tab in Quicktime Preferences" . There is no such option offered under Preferences on my 10.4.11 Mac.

For iCloud, you need a version of iTunes 10, and 10.4.11 only supports up to 9.2.1. 10.4 offers no iCloud access, while 10.5 and 10.6 have limited access. Only 10.7 and 10.8 are integrated with iCloud.
