Having trouble with apple DVD player playing Mpeg-2 file

I have this error on my ibook when i try to play an mpeg-2 file recently created through HD - Export/Using quicktime conversion.
The error from Apple DVD player is Dvd Player encountered a system error. could not detect a valid media file. [-70001]
Is there something Iam doing to this when i cut it? I have the same problem on both my laptop exppress harddrive, desktop express version 2.
Is tere a different way I should do this?

Hello Richard,
That error code suggests that the region code has been changed 5 times. You can only change the region 5 times in iDVD.
Have a look in here
for some alternate players. There are some really good ones.

Can you boot back into OS9 and see if the DVD player works from there? If so I guess that would mean a software issue with a component in OSX. Does OSX have trashable preferences in the same way as OS9?
Kenichi: I think all 400MHz Ruby iMacs came with a DVD-ROM as standard. It was only the 350MHz version that had a CD-ROM only.

We are currently having troubles with our iTunes. Playing different songs and randomly it changes the name of the song to pink time after time. We could go through 5 songs before it will change the next one to song title time after time and artist pink

Hi I am having trouble with iTunes! Randomly when I click on a song in iTunes it changes the song title to time after time and the artist is pink.
I could click on 4 songs and they will be normal but then the 5th one will change the info to time after time.
I haven't done anything different or new, it started doing it all of a sudden, well that I have noticed anyway. Please help.

Having trouble with apple tv device!!

Having trouble with my apple tv device. Bought just before Christmas so practically brand new. Only used about 6 times. When I went to turn on today the light on the box is flashing and its asking to connect my hdmi cable to what looks like an itunes icon. Ive checked the hdmi cable in the skybox and its working perfectly. any thoughts????

Welcome to the Apple Community.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
    1.    Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
    2.    Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
    3.    Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
    4.    Open iTunes.
    5.    Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device)

Having trouble with apple tv it will not respond to commands

I cannot get my apple tv to respond to commands. I've turned it off repeatedly and thought maybe it was my harmony remote that controls all of my devices but I tried the apple tv remote and it doesn't respond to that either. Anybody else having trouble with this?

Your Apple TV may have become paired with another remote. Hold the remote close to and pointed at the Apple TV, hold down the menu and Rewind buttons together for 6 seconds or until you see a broken chain icon on screen.

Since Gamers and those who watch online videos are having trouble with Adobe Flash Player 10, why am I, who does neither, having the beast crash all the time?

Adobe Flash Player seems to wait until I am near the end of the Yahoo comics section before it crashes, but not always, sometimes it just seems to have a mind of its own and crashes indiscriminately.

As I am the person having this problem, I am at a loss as to what to say in Reply. I thought I was making progress just by noting that video watchers and gamers were having this problem. Then I thought that it might be worthy of note that it seemed to happen more often when I was reading the yahoo comics section, I happen to like the comics. So, I suppose that my question should be, Am I being discriminated against because I do not watch online videos, play games and happen to enjoy the comics?

Some of us were actually having major issues after the IOS 5 upgrade without music. Here is one solution.
Altered from original solution from Emily P:
Okay, mine now works here is what I did.
plug in the iPhone, iPad etc
in iTunes select the phone or iPad
Under Summary uncheck "Sync with this....."
Under "Music" uncheck the "Sync Music"
Sync
Let it remove all the songs, dont worry it will come back no problems.
Once that is all done all the music on the phone or ipad should be gone.
Now check them both back on, sync, and everything should copy back onto it.
Working now !!!!!

Having trouble with downloading flash player

One month ago I tried the macromedia flash demo, now the
try-out had past his 30 days I trowed it of my computer.
With the search-button I looked for evrything on my computer
that had flash in his name (

and trowed it away. I don't know what went wrong but now when
I tried to download flash player it always give me - after
downloading - the warning that there is missing a plug-in for flash
player and they always send me to the flash player downloading
center. For those ho doesn't get it yet: I already tried
downloading it from that place, several times.
now, I tried already a un-installer( or something like that)
and even a lower version of flash player. Nothing works!

I have two TouchPads, both have Android installed on them.
I booted the 16gb one back into webOS, and you are right - it won't play.
The other, using Android ICS as it's OS was able to pull up some of the DJ's, and I was able to listen to shows.
I suggest you check out the "Android on the TouchPad" section of webosnation.com to consider loading Android onto your device. Officially, we can't support this option here on HP's forum, so all liability will be yours if you choose this option.

Encore CS5: Trouble with 720p 59.94 fps mpeg 2 files

Here are a number of problems i am having importing these files as assets into CS5 that i really need some help and guidance with. I have my quality presets for blu ray at 1280 x 720p 59.94 fps maximum quality.
1. I was able to successfully import a 720p file at 59.94fps as a asset with 5.1 audio. The asset properties say "Don't transcode"and the file type imports as a mpeg video in the project panel so i am happy right now, but
2. i try to import another file with the same characteristics and i get the error message that "this type of encoding does not support multiple channel audio". So, i demux the file and try to import the file as a m2v file. Well, the import reaches 43% and then just freezes. I wait for 30 minutes and still no change. So i escape out of the program which crashes. I reboot Encore and try again. It stalls again at 43%. So, i convert the file to 2 channel sound (sigh),
3. and i am able to import the file into encore, but the asset properties say "automatic transcode". So, i try to change it to "don't transcode" but every time i select this option, it goes back to "automatic transcode". Why is it doing this? The asset is 720p and it matches my project presets. I really want to avoid transcoding!!!! Also in the project panel, the asset is a "Video file" instead of "mpeg video". Why is this??
Very frustrated right now!! Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
That file may not be a blu ray legal file.
If the 720P file is blu ray legal then the status should be don't transcode.
You can check the file property(status is automatic transcode) with the file property(status is don't transcode).

Having trouble with character encoding when opening a .csv file either on excel or in numbers!

Hi.
I oftenly use internet banking services which produce .csv reports for the transactions i make. After downloading these reports i try to open them in numbers (and excel) but the encoding for Greek is messed up. Opening the same file with excel on a windows computer everything works fine. Is there something i can do to fix this?Same thing happens to both my Macbook Pro and my iMac.

I suspect that the .csv reports are not in Unicode which is required on Mac's. You would probably have to open the files with something like TextEdit and resave as Unicode to get them to display properly.

Dvd plays fine in a dvd player but pixelated in Apple DVD player

Thanks in advance. I have a dvd that I built/formatted in DVDSP with the default settings in place.
It plays fine in a DVD player, but once I try playing it back with Apple DVD Player, there is one 5 minute video clip that is heavily pixelated to the point that the pixels are literally 100 times larger than a normal pixel, and these faint, broken "pixel fields" jump all over the place and the image looks incredibly "glitchy".
Why is this happening? Does Apple DVD Player play DVDs with a different pixel aspect ratio or setup? Is there a setting for playback in a computer DVD player that I need to set upon Build/Format?

In DVD Player, hit Command-1 which will play your video at Actual Size. If you try to "fill the screen" it will become soft and fuzzy because you are pixel doubling (or worse).
SD video is very low res.

SCC file quirks when viewed in Apple DVD Player

Greetings all,
I have a bunch of DVDs with closed captioning that I am implementing by importing scc files. Everything works fine and looks gereat on set top players and even most software players running Windows. However, on the Mac running Apple DVD Player 4.0 or higher (OS X), there are a bunch of quirks during CC playback. Among them are:
1. First and second lines of CC swap places (second line appears above first line)
2. First line doesn't appear at all, but second line does.
3. First line appear at top of screen while second line appears at the bottom.
These issues are showing up on multiple projects using burnt discs (not builds or in simulator). Again, the CC look fine on set top machines and on PCs running Windows.
Is this an issue with DVDSP? With Apple DVD Player? Or with the SCC files I'm working with? The files were delivered from the caption house and I have no way of opening them to look at the formatting.

I haven't seen this abberation but I am in PAL land. It doesn't surprise me though. DVD Player has numerous issues with adhering to the spec. If you are happy with the playback on all but a Mac I would proceed. If you are really worried when you go to replication you can have this looked at by the engineers ie through MEI or their in house testing systems.
Your caption supplier will also be able to examine the integrity of your VIDEO_TS build.
For future reference most captioning houses can supply you with the encoded mpeg rather than relying on DVDSP.
