I am new to text files, what is going on. No matter what network I am on Arch assigns itself 192.168.0.2 My net at home is a 1.1 at school they have 172.16.16.xxx.
This is preventing me from

I have unlimeted Verizon2Verizon
Please help me out maybe we can open an email or phone dialog since that seems to be faster

Hi ,I am having trouble with wav files and sample rates .I have been sent multiple projects on wav as the main instrumental ; I wish to record in 48.000kHz .Now comes the problem.When I try to change the project to 48k It seems to pitch up the track.I can't have them send the logic/project file as most have outboard synths,different plug ins etc.This particular case the producer has recorded the synth task in 41.000 kHz .My successful outcome would be to be able t create a project file in 48 kHz .And NOT pitch up whne I add the instrumenta wav file .Any help would be gratefully recieved,this is my first post so any mistakes I may have made go easy

You'll have to convert the actual synth audio file file that the producer gave you to 48kHz. You can do this in the audio Bin in Logic.

I am having trouble with attaching files in my gmail

After downloading the most recent version of Firefox I began having trouble attaching files in my gmail. I am now unable to attach files and get getting the same attachment failed message.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
1. Clear Firefox's Cache
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here (this will log you out)
While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
Some sites use a Flash-based uploader. Have you noticed any other issues with Flash (audio/video issues)? There are some compatibility issues between the latest Flash player and some Firefox add-ons or settings. Having trouble with the File and Folder Objects (PSCS3 javascript on Win)

I'm having trouble successfully creating a new folder on my windows platform, using javascripts in photoshop. In ExtendScript Toolkit 2, set to Adobe Photoshop CS3, I've tried:

is this right? what am I doing wrong? It's pretty basic stuff, I know but I can't figure is out... any help would be greatly appreciated.

The "/c/Documents and Settings/vcastelo/My Documents/data" form works, too, and
should be preferred.
Here's an extreme example as to why this is a good idea:
I work in an XP/cygwin environment, so I added links to all of my drives in my
root cygwin folder. As a result, the path /p/Pictures/2008-05-05 is the same on
the bash command line (and other tools) as it is in PSJS. I carried this over to
my Mac, as well. I mount P: drive in OSX then setup links so that
/p/Pictures/2008-05-05 is also the same on the Mac. This has vastly simplified
my work. The only time I use system-specific pathnames is in a script's UI.

Having trouble with relocating files on w/ iTunes.

i am having some problems with my iTunes. i had recently transferred my music from a Mac to a PC, i'm pretty sure i did it the correct way...i just copied my my iTunes Music folder contents and placed them in my iTunes Music folder on my PC. I have a little under 1,000 songs and now for some reason like at least 100 of them wont sync..and i still don't know why it wont sync. But now i did something which i don't think helped..i was clueless so i changed the destination folder to an identical folder w/ the same music, but then changed it back to the iTunes Music folder and now iTunes can't locate any of my songs, but i easily can but i don't want to have to relocate them one by one because i have a little under 1,000 songs...so i's like to know if there was anyway i can locate numerous files at once on iTunes rather tehn just going and relocating each one individually?

I am having trouble with pdf files continuously get damaged file message when try to open downloaded pdf with adobe reader

Cannot open downloaded pdf's with adobe reader. Have latest version of adobe program continuously get damaged file message. Anybody else having this problem? Using imac with osx10.7.1 (latest lion)

I am having the exact same problem. This is very disturbing.
Lately I have been deluged with adobe update dialogues. I don't know whether this is real or some kind of bugus malware phenomenon.
Imagine my surprise when I looked here in the forum and I am not alone.
Kaufmann's remark that we shouldn't be using adobe reader doesn't explain why it is malfunctioning like this. I have been using the reader on Mac OS for years, and I don't get what's happening now.
Does anyone realy know what is going on?

I am having trouble with pic files...

My 2010 pictures are on an external hard drive and when I try to open them on my iMac...there is an icon of the iPhoto preview and the file number but says it is empty when I try to open it...
I have no idea what I have done! its like a years worth of pictures...
the other weird thing is that there are thumbs (I thought I could delete them when I brought my files from my pc to my iMac).
I don't use the iPhoto for my pictures...don't think that would matter...I use Lightroom for organizing.
I am a bit freaked out so I may not be communicating well...I am going to take a screen shots..
If anyone knows what I can do about this...I would appreciate it very much...

Having trouble with a file with that includes CID or Identity-H encoding fonts

I am not able to use the cntrl find feature on one of my pdf files becasue the fonts are CID or Identity-h encode.
Can you please tell me how I can change the font or the files so I can use the Cntrl Find feature.

What you are asking for is very unclear. Why do you even want to do a "thorough analysis of the audio"? No one is going to do your project for you.

Having trouble with wav files

We convert voicemails to wav and push them to each persons Exchange account. All iPhone users can listen to the wav file with the exception of one person. When they click on the wav file nothing happens. They are using a 3Gs. Any thoughts on what to look for?

I too can't get wav files from my exchange server to download to my 3GS but I used to Be able to. I also cannot download them to my iPad either. I am assuming then that this must be something with my server but I don't think anything changed on it. Any thoughts?

Having trouble with GoPro files in FCE

I recently shoot an event with two types of cameras. A miniDV Sony and a GoPro camera. These are the specs once I imported into FCE. And the way I imported into FCE was to drag the mpeg4 file from the flash card into FCE.

When I imported the GoPro files to the timelineI had to render for 9 hours for 90 minutes of footage. I figured that once that was done, it would be smooth sailing. But everytime I do ANYTHING to the time line (cut, move any other fottage) I have to rerender. How do I stop the insanity? At this rate it will take me 372 years to finish this project.

More detail - use MPEG Streamclip to convert the GoPro MP4 videos to QuickTime DV. In MPEG Streamclip, select Export to QuickTime; for compression select Apple DV DVCPRO NTSC if you are in the states, Apple DV PAL if you are in a PAL country. (These are selections in MPEG Streamclip.)
One issue is the GoPro aspect ratio is 16:9 which means the video will be letterboxed in a DV 4:3 frame unless you crop or scale the image, although it's not really desirable to do either.

Having trouble with .avi files

I use quicktime 7.0.3. I noticed that I cannot watch .avi files. everytime i try playing .avi files, quicktime brings me to an internet site where i can download fifferent addons or softwares to play the .avi files. i tried downloading two of them but nothing happened. why is this so? what specific codec or software shoud i download. please advise. i use a panther ibook g4. thanks.

.AVI is a 'wrapper' for a variety of encoding methods - not all of which are supported under QT 7.
If you just want to view the files, I suggest you try the VLC Media Player at http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

Having troubles with work files I mailed home...

Hello,
Twice I mailed myself a couple of files to work on at home and twice I was given errors. The first time, I mailed a lightwave model and a Lightwave Scene home, and both were corrupted. When I tried to open them in Lightwave, they tell me there was an error reading the file.
I thought maybe something got garbled in the transition, so I zipped the folder and sent it home that way. I now get an error when trying to unzip the file - 'Error-1, Operation not permitted' is what I get.
As far as I can tell, it's not a permissions problem. I downloaded stiffut expander, and it won't help either.
I'm running 10.4.8 on both machines and have never had this problem before. I recently wiped and reinstalled my work machine, but I still have everything up to date.
The work machine is DC 2.3 and home is below... and FWIW, I have rechecked the files at work and they are just fine.
Any suggestions?

Vincent, I am not sure that this is the answer you want, but I have found that some programs will create an obscure format that many mail services can not read. and they will simply change the format before they forward it on because they do not recognise the file type or the format in which it was created.
I have one paricular program that falls in this category.
It will automaticly convert this file to a data file, and of course it is not a data file at all but an image file that has one of these obscure formats I mentioned above.
The only way I have found a work around is to use a web based e-mail account and retrieve the file from there server rather then your e-mail program.
I have and use pop server at home and use Yahoo mail when I run into this issue, So far it has worked, you might give it a try.

Brand new final cut pro user having trouble with .mpg files

Hi everybody,
i am brand new to editing on my iMac and final cut pro, so i will apologize now for any questions that seem really dumb. i am trying to bring in some .mpg files into a project and only the video will come in, no audio...when i play the files in quicktime player by themselves, they play just fine. i tried to export the files to quicktime movie files via the quicktime player (i don't have quicktime pro) and then those files played the video but no audio...not sure what to do..please help.

Troubles with xmp files not loading...

I'm having troubles with xmp files not loading with images but are present in the image folders. does anyone know why this is happening and if there is a way to fix this. Also when trying to load the xmp individually they are grayed out and unable to load. I have tried this on different machines (Macs) and still no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated in this issue.

Aww, yuck!! That's a real drag...
When editing lots of files (yesterday's shoot produced 8GB) I back everything up to off-line storage and then, after doing all my edits and crops in ACR, I only have to copy over the small XMP files which takes no time at all.
So if I re-edit the DNG with ACR I have to re-copy ALL the files again to the off-line storage.
I used to sometimes even save 2 versions of the xmp files when I needed 2 different crops of the same images, such as doing a wide screen 'cinema' crop for a corporate client's Intranet presentation of their event, as well as more standard crops to be used for their newsletters.
Guess I won't be using DNG any more..
