Having trouble with installing updates

Hello,
I am having trouble installing updates.  I checked the windowsupdate.log file and I see:
2015-03-13
11:52:43:075       956
680         Agent
  * Criteria = "(DeploymentAction=* AND Type='Software') OR (DeploymentAction=* AND Type='Driver')"
In reading others' posts, I noticed in their logs contain "DeploymentAction=Install" .. could this potentially be the issue why it will not install the update?   If so, where does this get set at so I can modify it?  I looked around
but was not able to find this setting.
Thanks for the help!

Hello,
Here is what I see in the logs.  Can you please take a look and see if anything stands out?  There are a lot of errors/failures/warnings in the
WindowsUpdate.log.  Please look at the last 4 lines of this log listed below -- looks like it is looking for approval or  "WARNING: There are no approved updates to install".  Where is this coming from?  Is this
why the updates do not get installed?    Thanks for any help in reviewing these logs.  Thanks.

  • I am having trouble with app updates on my iOS 5 iPhone never getting beyond the "waiting" state.

I am having trouble with app updates on my iOS 5 iPhone never getting beyond the "waiting" state. I have tried signing out/in of my account, rebooting and removing/re-installing the apps.  This started shortly after going to iOS 5 but I am not certain if that is related.  All updates that I try now are stuck in "waiting".  I also tried removing the apps and then installing via iTunes desktop sync with no improvement.  The only thing that I have not tried so far is a restore to a prior iPhone backup.  I have not been able to find anything to indciate what the updates on waiting on.  There is plenty of space on the iPhone (16gb available).  Any suggestions on what to try next?

    Hello there, Missy.
First thing I would recommend is to check your downloads queue to make sure there is not an interrupted download per the following Knowledge Base article:
iTunes: How to resume interrupted iTunes Store downloads
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1725
If your download was interrupted using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    1. From the Home screen, tap the iTunes app.
    2. For iPhone or iPod touch, tap More > Downloads. For iPad, tap Downloads.
    3. Enter your account name and password if prompted.
    4. Tap the blue download arrow to resume.
If you can't complete the download on your iOS device, you can download it in iTunes on your Mac or PC and then sync it to your iOS device. You can also transfer purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer.
For Apps, you can also try tapping on the application icon to resume the download, as outline in this featured discussion:
App updates won't download on my...: Apple Support Communities
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4111336
Try tapping the App, so that it changes to Paused instead of Waiting, then tap it again to resume the install.
Make sure you don't have any paused downloads in other apps either, like the App Store or iTunes Store.
If that doesn't do it, try resetting or restoring the iPhone.

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Having trouble with itunes update.  Error with itunes64.msi. Windows 8.1 64 bit.  Thanks.

Having trouble with itunes update.  Error with itunes64.msi. Windows 8.1 64 bit.  I tried uninstalling, but I am stuck now trying to reinstall.
It says itcan't find the itunes64.msi destination folder.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • I'm having trouble with installing a 8g kit in my late 2009 mac mini. when the parts are installed all i get is a beeping sound, is there any way to get around this?

i'm having trouble with installing a 8g kit in my late 2009 mac mini. when the parts are installed all i get is a beeping sound, is there any way to get around this?

What is the source & link to this 8 GB kit please?
Can you count the beeps or flashes?
1 beep = no RAM installed
2 beeps = incompatible RAM types
3 beeps = no good banks
4 beeps = no good boot images in the boot ROM (and/or bad sys config block)
5 beeps = processor is not usable
In addition to the beeps, on some computers the power LED will flash a corresponding number of times plus one. The LED will repeat the sequence after approximately a 5-second pause. The tones are only played once.
Note: In this case, a flash is considered to be 1/4 second or 250 ms or greater in length.

  • Having trouble with Installing itunes on web site

Can someone help with this issue. I have tried installing itunes thru
    www.apple.com/ipod/start
I download the program via the 'run' option and it begins to load in the temp file location. It starts to transfer until 77% (always) and then doesn't continue although the function is running. After 20 minutes the message pops up that the process time out. There is no error message. Does anyone know what would cause this?
    Thanks for any help

I had the same problem, and whether you run or save when downloading it would stop at 76%. After 2 days of defragging, updating virus software, checking my registry and everything else I can think of I finally called support. Go to www.filehippo.com and download itunes from there.

  • HT1222 Anyone having trouble with this update?  My open / save dialogs stopped working after this update...

Affected applications seem to be Rosetta ones...
    HT1222: Apple security updates

Security Update 2012-001 Bricks Rosetta programs
    Restore method.
#1 Backup your personal data off the machine.
Backup files off the computer (not TimeMachine) and disconnect. If you don't have a external drive, get one and connect to the USB port and simply drag and drop copy your User folder to the external drive, it will copy all your files. But installed programs are more complicated and best left to reinstalling via original sources.
#2 Try Restoring from a TimeMachine or option bootable clone
If you have TimeMachine drive, or a hold the option key bootable clone use that to erase and restore from.
Note: A TM restore can take a awfully long time, a clone restore takes under 2 hours in most cases.
    #3 Reinstall OS X 10.6 from disk
If no TM or bootable clone then:
Get out your 10.6 install disk and make sure it's clean and polished (very soft cloth and a bit of rubbing alcohol, no scratches) If your disk is borked, you'll have to order a new one from Apple with your serial number.
Hold c boot off the 10.6 disk (wired keyboard, internal optical drive), use Disk Utility to >Repair Disk and Permissions  (do not format or erase!!), Quit DU and simply re-install 10.6.
Note: If Disk Repair gives a error that is not repaired, then you have to consider erasing the drive (with Zeros) and try reinstalling 10.6 fresh or replacing the drive.
Note: Simply reinstalling 10.6 version from disk (without erasing the drive) only replaces 10.6.8 with 10.6.x and bundled Apple programs, won't touch your files (backup anyway)  or most programs, unless they installed a kext file into OS X itself. (only a few on average do this)
#4 Update to 10.6.8 without Security Update 2012-001
Reboot and log in, update to 10.6.8 via Software Update, but EXCLUDE THE Security Update 2012-001.
#5 Reinstall any non-working third party programs
When you reboot, make sure to reinstall any programs that require kext files installed into OS X, you'll know, they won't work when you launch them or hang for some reason.
If you get gray screen at any time when booting (possible it might occur when you reinstall old programs), hold the shift key down while booting (Safe Mode, disables kext files) and update your installed third party software so it's compatible with 10.6.8.

    #9 Unverified hacks
Note: You may see a "hack" for this issue floating around, it has had mixed results as people's software is different.
You may want to try it, but it's at your own risk. It has worked fast for some and not at all for others, hopefully over time it will work for all.
The above methods I outline are Apple approved restore methods + based upon experience here and not a quick fix, but are sure to work as Apple recommends such steps themselves.
    https://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570
If at any time you feel this is beyond your capability, please seek local professional assistance before you lose your data.
Please maintain at least a TM drive, just hook up a external drive and TM will ask you to make a backup
If your a bit more skilled, a option bootable clone is much superior than TM drive.
    Good luck

  • Hello, i'm having trouble with installing iTunes.

There appears an error, saying - 'policy.8.0.Microsoft.VC80.CRT.type="win32-policy".version="8.0.50727.6195".pub licKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b".processorArchitecture="x86"
I\ve tries everything, but nothing helps(

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? (For example, 8007000B.)

  • Having trouble with installing Flash

I have a Windows 7 64 Bit Computer. When I tried to update the Flash Player, nothing happened. I`ve trying for 2 days and even used the unistaller to see if that would help. Now I have no flash player on my computer at all. And the new download will not install (Yes, using Admin start).

    Try this:
    1. Restart your computer to stop any Adobe process that may be running.
    2. Click on the following Adobe link. Go to the bottom of the page where it says "Still having problems?" and click on the appropriate link for your browser.

  • To All IPod Users having Trouble with Live Updating playlists.

I thought I should share this with other IPod users as there is quite a bit of discussion on the net about it.
After 3 days trying to get "Smart Playlists"to live update on my IPod touch, reading, researching and reading more, I finally got my Ipod playlist to live update.
I've discovered that certain rules break live updating.
OK it is only a basic set of rules, but it is working.
The 1st thing I did was group all my songs using the "Composer" field. Do not use sorting, it breaks live updating.
example: All songs were composed by Music, all Soundtracks were composed by Soundtrack. And so on. I did this in ITunes using "Get Info".
I placed two rules in my playlist:
    Composer is Music
Last Played is not in the last 6 months.
    I ticked "Live Update"
Do not use Limit to as this breaks Live Updating as well.
If your list is in a different order on your IPod then in ITunes just select any other column in ITunes other than the numbered column, e.g. Name. Your list should match now in both ITunes and your IPod.
Just use shuffle within the playlist to mix things up.
Once played your track should drop off your playlist.
    Hope this helps.

I live by my Smart playlist to sort out all my TV shows and Video Podcast but it suddenly stopped updating after I paid $25 for the iTunes Match service.
It stopped in iTunes. I don't worry to much about my iPhones because I plug them in every day and it will update iTunes.
If iTunes doesn't work the apple TV, iPads and iPhones don't work.
Do I need to cancel the iTunes Match service?
    Please someone find a fix.

  • I'm having trouble with installing Adobe Flash Player

everything I using on the web tells me I need the update for Adobe Flash Player-birthday cad sites and such... So I install it but instead of just finishing step 3 - install complete - I get an advertisement for an additional application for $9.99 a month - which I have no need for so I just close that tab window.... I've tried restart, shut down, and a few other things but to no avail.... go to the site I want to send from and I get the same update message - but no viewing of the card or product I 'm looking for....  anyone know what I need to do?
I've search it out through Finder and it is in there in applications all of them (apps) from 2007 to 2015 - something isn't right.... right?
can you guys help?  thanks, ohyes

The big Step 1 button that says Install doesn't install anything. It downloads the installer to your Mac. Note that Step 2 tells you what to do next:
To proceed, open your download folder and locate the Adobe Flash Player Installer file, named like "AdobeFlashPlayer[xxx]_install.dmg”.
The file you'll find there should be named:
    AdobeFlashPlayer_17_ta_install.dmg
Double click the .dmg file to open it. You'll see this:
Click the "Install Adobe Flash Player" package. When the installation is done, you can close this window and dismount the .dmg file by putting the "drive" icon that appeared on the desktop in the trash. You can then delete the .dmg file as you no longer need it.
The Step 3 Adobe shows is completely pointless.
