Having trouble with loading the internet?

Hi Everyone,
For the past 3 week or so, my 8 month old MacBook Pro has been painfully slow with loading my internet... Taking minutes sometimes. And i've noticed lately that the little spinning beachball has been appearing, the first time in 8 months.
Someone please help

if you don't have a dataplan and rely on wifi for internet that is how it works
if you do have a dataplan it sounds like it's not set up correctly in which case you should contact your carrier

Try restarting your router, but I will need more info like how are you trying to connect wi-fi, Ethernet, type of connection cable or DSL what type of router Apple, Linksys.

Anyone having trouble with IMac dropping internet connections? inter

My IMac is dropping my internet connection?
Any ideas or suggestions on what is causing this?

I too have this problem but I've had it for about 2 years. We used to think it was because I was on wi-fi and I was getting interference. I moved the modem closer and that didn't help. Then my ISP kept telling me it was my Dlink modem so I chucked that modem out and went with my ISP's modem. That didn't solve the problem but at least my ISP couldn't blame it on other equipment. I then moved the modem right beside my iMac and I was still loosing the connection while on wi-fi. I got so fed up that I have hard wired my iMac right into the modem and it's still happening. Ive had my cable company out here a zillion times trying to trouble shoot this. They changed all of my cabling from the road to my house and from my house to the computer. They gave me a new modem and then they gave me another new modem but a different brand. I'm still dropping my internet connection every few minutes.
The one thing that I discovered with my provider is that I'm not actually loosing connection to the internet as they don't see my internet dropping at all. It's as if the signal comes and goes on this iMac and when it goes, I'm left with my curser doing the whirley-bird until it reconnects to the net. Usually takes 5 minutes or so but it eventually comes back. My wi-fi is fine with my iPad and my iPhone but it wasn't with this iMac. I've been on Leopard, Snow Leopard and Lion and I've had the same problem with all three OS's on this iMac.
I'm totally at a loss as to why this is happening. It's very frustraging and makes it near impossible to use online banking or booking flights etc because I can't keep a connection long enough.
Anybody have any brilliant suggestions to try?

Hi everybody for the last month or so my internet connection has been disconnecting from the internet. I’ll open Safari then a error message appears telling me that I am not connected to the internet. All 3 lights on my modem are green indicating that the Modem (2wire home portal) is working. I opened ND to try to fix the problem the status settings indicate that ISP failed, and server failed. I called Apple technical support for help but they blamed the modem for causing this to happen. I went out and bought another modem hoping that a new modem would fix the problem, but it did not, Same error message “ you are not connected to the internet.” I called my ISP about 10 times there are no server outages in my area. I ran numerous hardware test to see if the hardware was corrupted, all test came back negative.
I am using a 2wire home portal (Non wireless) I have a Intel i mac core duo maxed out. I have no software installed on this computer ( other then the software that shipped with the i mac. I never download anything off the internet (Not even a widget) I don’t what else to do... I don’t want to take the computer to a Apple store because I’m most cretin that nothing is wrong with the computer plus the nearest Apple store is almost 200 mile away from where I live.
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem would be appreciated.

This is frequently solved in the Network section of System Preferences. Assuming your "Location:" reads "Automatic" then verify your Network Port Configurations. I don't have a cable modem setup, but imagine "Built-in Ethernet" is what you're using, and if so, that should be primary. Be sure to "Apply Now" once a new setting is selected.
If you recall set-up, did your iMac discover the connection immediately, or was it necessary to add information to the Ethernet panel? Since your network was functioning before the iMac set-up, the iMac should have discovered it on its own and you should not have had to enter any info.
If that was not what happened, I'd scrap the Network settings, return all to defaults, and start over with the iMac discovering the connection on its own.
Edit-
One other thing that might be different from your PC's, check the Energy Saver's Sleep panel to see that you have unchecked the "Put the hard disk to sleep when possible" and see if that helps at all.

Is there people who are having trouble with 4GLte for internet service?

I signup for the service and I am sorry that I did ,it is so slow that I have regress back to when the internet started, the battery life is lousy it does not last
very long. I should have stayed with Cable. Sales people are not very truthful.

Has the speed always been the same since you received your device or did this just begin? What city, state and zip are you experiencing this in? Having trouble with making new internet tabs and windows

When I open a new tab or new window, some small blank black windows appear and disappear right away. I have tried running virus scans, uninstalling unnecessary programs and deleting memory but they still pop up. Also after the blank windows disappear, there is a "not responding" after the blank windows disappear, for about 10 seconds and then resumes normal

Well first, the version of Firefox you are running is EXTREMELY old and insecure. Please update to Firefox 11 right away. [[Updating Firefox]] can help you with that.
After doing that, if you are still having issues, Try to start Firefox in [[Safe mode|Safe mode]]. This mode disables all extensions, user customizations, hardware acceleration, etc. temporarily for diagnostic and troubleshooting. If Firefox works fine in Safe Mode, then this is likely an add-on issue. Restart Firefox in normal mode, then type "About:addons" (without the quotes) in the address bar. Disable your extensions one by one, restarting Firefox between each one, until you find the trouble maker. Once you do, you can disable that add-on and report the issue to that add-on's developer.
A few other basic trouble shooting things you can try is this:
Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.
Update your graphics driver (Firefox uses your graphics card for some rendering, and an out of date graphics card driver can cause problems. [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers].

Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. [http://www.malwarebytes.org/ http://www.malwarebytes.org/]. This helps check that there are no viruses on your computer causing issues. You can uninstall this program after you clean off any infections.

Since loading Firefox 4.0 I am having trouble successfully loading the Afrikaans Language Pack 4.0 plugin. Help?

I have recently attempted to download the Afrikaans Language Pack 4.0. After restarting Firefox the application doesn't function and does not appear on the Add-ons manager. The previous version of the Afrikaans dictionary worked well with Firefox 3.0.
Do you have any solution for this problem?

You may (still) be left with the issue, unless you reinstall using the full three step way (strange things may linger):
Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool, and reinstall.

So for about a week now iTunes has had an error saying "Could not complete the iTunes Store request. The store may be busy. Check yout Internet connection or try again later." And on every picture except the ones that rotate at the top and the ones in the middle of the middle of the main page of the store there is a little pic that is a brocken chain link. The iTunes music store works on all our 5 Macs except for our Mac Mini. I am trying to buy and album and it would let me go to the albums page so I individualy added each song into my cart and they arent downloading. An error saying comes up saying "There were problems downloading some purchased items.
For more information on the items that could not be downloaded, click below.
Could not connect to the server to download “Rapgirl / The Graduate / MC Lars”.
Please check the status of your internet connection in your web browser." (It does this for every song.)

HT5361 I am having trouble with closing the mail app so that I can shut off my laptop. the menu bar under file doesn't give me the option to quit. that option is lister, but it is faded. command Q will not close mail either.

I am unable to shut off my laptop because I can not close the mail app. Command Q doesn't work. While "quit mail" shows up under FILE on the menu bar, it is faded and not a working option. Mail appears to be frozen. I also can not pull up the mail page despite the app being open. Clicking on the mail icon does nothing and there are no available options under the menu bar. Help, please! Thanks!

Try force-quitting (command-option-esc).
