Having trouble with outgoing mail settings

Having new trouble with not being able to send emails, saying my iCloud preferences have changed (this after updating to new OS)

Glad it's sorted now as took settings off an iPhone for you, on N8 incoming & outgoing settings are inacessible which is a lot of use.

I'm sure this has been asked a million times but am having trouble setting up again following a hard reset, shame the PC suite backup doesn't save these settings but that's another story..
What I have is, other than my personal details for my account..
Outgoing mail server: smtp.o2.co.uk (I have a yahoo maill account but the only way i've ever managed to get this working is to use the smtp server of my carrier, i.e. o2). have also tried smtp.mail.o2.co.uk
Accesss point in use: o2 active
    security: SSL/TLS
    port: default.

Do you even know how to nuke and re-set Photoshop's preferences, colorplak?  Your last post seems to reveal that you don't understand what I'm talking about. Here's a link you can click on:
Preference file functions, names, locations | Photoshop CC
To re-create the preferences files for Photoshop, start the application while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS). Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"
Note: If this process doesn't work for you while you're using a wireless (bluetooth) keyboard, attach a wired keyboard and retry.
Important: If you re-create the preferences by deleting the Adobe Photoshop CC Settings file, make sure that you only delete that file. If you delete the entire settings folder, you also delete any unsaved actions or presets.
Reinstalling Photoshop does not remove the preferences file. Before reinstalling Photoshop, re-create your preferences.
Note for Photoshop 14.1 and later: If you use Generator and reset your Preferences, Generator is disabled. Choose Preferences > Plug-ins to turn it back on.
Video: Julieanne Kost created a video that takes you through two ways of resetting your Photoshop preferences. The manual preference file removal method is between 0:00 - 5:05. The keyboard shortcut method is between 5:05 - 8:18. The video is located here.
    Mac OS
Important: Apple made the user library folder hidden by default with the release of Mac OS X 10.7. If you require access to files in the hidden library folder to perform Adobe-related troubleshooting, see How to access hidden user library files.

  • Having Trouble With E-mails That Involve Animation

This is too weird. When I receive an e-mail that has animation in it it comes through freeze framed in Mail. It does not matter if it is in my .Mac account or Verizon account. Just for the heck of it I forwarded it to myself using the Verizon account and opened it in Safari. I also did the same thing with my .mac account. I opened it on the web. Bingo, I had animation. I am also having trouble with WMV's. Why can I not get any animation in Mail? Is there something I am doing wrong? any way to correct this?

OK, from the sound of your post, you have a limited knowledge about email. Let me see if I can help. I would guess that you have a Windows machine that you have used in the past. Your email address must be a "pop" address. That means that your internet service provider has a server where your mail is sent. This is different than a web mail address, that is accessed remotely with a web browser, such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari. You must then be using an email program, such as Outlook Express, to go get the email onto your local machine. Any email program can do this. Open up the accounts tab in Outlook Express, and write down the settings. There will be one for the incoming server, and one for the outgoing server. Now, on your Mac, you can use the email program provided, such as Mac Mail, and put the settings in there. You can now send and receive to your Mac using your supplied email address. You can use another program such as Thunderbird to do this if you want. You don't have to use Mac Mail.
Getting your old email off of the Windows computer is a bit harder, so hopefully you don't need to do that. But if you do, I can direct you on how to do that also.

  • Having trouble with e-mail

I recently bought a macbook for college, and I am having trouble with my e-mail. I have an account on outlook express that works well, and i just wanted to know if there is any way that I could access it from this laptop.
I am going to college and they send me important stuff, so I need that address. If it is not possible then what kind of e-mail address should i make (yahoo, etc.)

  • I am having trouble with yahoo mail, very slow to send never used to be this way started before iOs5 update

I am having trouble with mail, yahoo has started to have a problem sending, slow or not at all started before latest update, help

I noticed this at one point and what I did, which worked, was to delete the mailbox from my iPad, then reinstall it.  Give it a try and see if it helps you as well.

  • PC T'bird users having trouble with my Mail e-mail with attachments

Lately a couple of co-workers have had bizarre troubles with e-mail I've sent them with attachments. I'm using Mail on a Mac (10.5.8), they're using Thunderbird on PCs. When I've sent them attachments ("Windows-friendly," attached at end of e-mail), they haven't been able to e-mail me via Reply . . . their font is changed to white on white. Occasionally their whole application will hang, and one person had to do a hard reboot. Only other relevant detail I have is that the mail I send them originates as Stationery, and some of the text is colored. I'm currently working to narrow down the variables, but if that "white on white" issue rings a bell immediately to anyone, I'd be very curious to hear about it.
    Mucho thanko.
    Rob

After a series of tests with the Thunderbird users, we've established the problem was not:
    Mail/Thunderbird incompatibility
    related to Mail's stationery
    related to styled text
    only because of attachments
    only because of PDF attachments
Both users had the trouble after I forwarded PDFs to them from two different outside suppliers. So far, my theory is that there was something about those particular files. After five run-throughs where the co-workers had no problems with e-mail from me, I now want to replicate the problem, but (understandably) they're not eager to lose their work time to do it. I'll post more as I learn more.
Thanks, BDAqua for the ideas about blank lines around the attachment.

  • Trouble with outgoing mail server

When I try to send gmail I get an error message 'your acc does not have a preferred outgoing mail server'? I've had this before but can't remember what to do.Thanks.

Who is your ISP? Normally they provide you the information you need when you sign up with one, i.e. user name and password, email address, smtp server address, pop and imap server addresses, authentification requirements, etc.
If you haven't got that information to hand it's normally available with a quick Google search.
I'm with Orange and just searched 'Orange smtp server settings' - this is what I got:

  • Apple mail having trouble with AOL mail

Set it all up fine. Mail comes in but sending is very erratic. Set up the correct imap server on the correct port with the correct authentication. First mail after setting up server goes fine but pretty much randomly mails fail to send with the error that the selcted smtp server cannot be used.
Is this a problem with Apple mail and AOL's propriatory lash up of IMAP mail? <Edited by Moderator>
Can't switch to another smtp server since too many internet filters block AOL mails not sent from the main aol smtp server.
    cheers

    Hi Andrew!
Are the settings posted below, what you are using?
    -Account Type: IMAP
    -Incoming Mail Server: imap.aol.com
-Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.aol.com:Your AOL Screenname Here

thank s for the reply mate. its connecting to the same internet but via wifi. i just tried to send a message and it went! so i can only send when using this server? can i use a secondary to send when I'm away from the office? its POP i believe.
You can enable an alternate SMTP server by tapping Settings> Mail, Contacts, Calendars> tap the email account> tap the outgoing mail server> then turn On the cellular service providers SMTP server.
If you are using O2, it would be smtp.o2.co.uk, as mentioned here: http://www.o2.co.uk/iphone/emailsetup/outgoingmailservers
If you made the O2 server the primary server, you would only be able to send emails when connected to the Internet over the O2 cellular network.
Also, you can avoid the multiple server issue all together by setting a different email account, like Gmail, Yahoo!, or MobileMe.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their colors and that you haven't enabled High Contrast in the Accessibility settings.
*Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : [X] "Allow pages to choose their own colors, instead of my selections above"
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/Websites_look_wrong
If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
*Check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
*Check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
*Check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
*Check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
Make sure that you do not block third-party images, the permissions.default.images pref should be 1.

There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images.

  • Mail trouble with outgoing mail server

For weeks now (relatively recent), MAC mail will not send consistantly. When I choose my outgoing mail server in the preferences panel and check "use only this server", Mail often will not send my message. If I leave that outgoing server as "none", my first outgoing message of the day will prompt me to choose one, and then subsequent messages are sent without asking. Inconvenient at the least - something's not right.
    Any help?

    Thanks for response.
I have deleted ALL accounts (to start fresh) but the unused outgoing servers 'refuse' to leave
I want to delete them to keep things tidy, also I have issues with using alternate outgoing server (next issue), so trying to start from the beginning again, before attempting to address next issue.

outgoing server: smtp.mail.me.com   Port 587     TLS
outgoing server needs authentifikation -> same as ingoing server

Anyone a solution or the same problem?

  • Having trouble with the mail apps

I am experiencing a number of issues using both the iOS mail app and the Gmail app.
My Gmail settings are like this: I have 2 gmail accounts, account1 is general; account2 is for school, job search and whatnot. While on the desktop, I only check my account1 mailbox and have set it to check and fetch mails from account2. I have set account2 as the default "send mail as" while sending mails from the account1 mailbox. The settings carried over and worked flawlessly on my Android Gmail app.
Now I just made the switch over to iPhone and have been experiencing a number of issues with each of the following apps:
    Apple mail app:
    1. No push notification (despite of it being turned on). Screen won't come on when a new mail is received.
    2. Cannot send mail as my default account2, unless I add another email account, but that would result in me receiving 2 copies of each email that's sent to account2.
    3. Whenever I send a message, I automatically get a cc in my inbox.
    iOS Gmail app:
    1. Whenever I send a message, I automatically get a cc in my inbox.
I think I prefer the Gmail app over the Apple one due to the lesser number of issues, but seeing that I am on an iOS device now, I do wish to make an effort to use the default mail app as it feels more cohesive to the rest of the iOS vibe.
I don't know if anyone can help me in resolving those issues, at least the one plaguing the Gmail app.

    Friendly bump.
