That's probably because they're not registered.
Messages only works if your friend has an iphone.
There is a workaround that can work, though.
set up an AIM account online.
in System preferences > mail, contacts, and calendars, enter your new AIM account.
in Contacts, on your friend's contact card, look for AIM. Enter their phone number right before that, with a +1 before it, and the area code:  i.e., +11234567899.
This doesn't always work. Their cellular carrier has to cooperate with AIM. Some do, some don't. If it doesn't work, tell your friend to get an iPhone.

    You need to properly install everything, not transfer it using migration assistant. On the old computer sign out of the CC app and deactivate.

  • My iPhone 4s is having troubles with the Nike  app. It appears greyed out on my settings screen & when I finally am able to see the app on my home screen it crashes within a few seconds. I have tried all the Apple suggested solutions and they do not work.

    I have tried reseting my phone many different ways and updating all the software. Nothing works the app continues to crash. Apple says in another thread to someone else to follow third party app solutions but those do not work as you cannot delete and re-download a pre-loaded Apple app...... Any help would be necessary as I just bought the sensor from Apple, and now my phone won't connect.
    Seems like a waste of money, since the products are made by the exact same company I expect them to work. I have also noticed that other people have had this problem and have also been unable to solve it.

    I finally figured it out.  Needed to update her Airport firmware and allow guest access, and also changed Sharing preferences to Allow Access for All Users.

    You correct it by leaving Bridge alone until it finishes rebuilding its cache, overnight if necessary.

    Anyone having trouble with the new update for 2010 mac book air 10.8.2 ? My 2010 Macbook Air has crashed 15times since the 10.8.2 update. Have only once since owning it.

    Turned out the hardware was bad.  Apple exchanged it for a new Mac Air and the new trackpad works great.  Thank goodness it was a defect.  If the trackpads all worked like that I would have been bummed.

    You might look at "Keyboard Shortcuts" in the Keyboard and Mouse preference pane and see if somehow the lower case n has been inadvertently assigned to something.
    Probably the best solution would be to click the "Restore Defaults" button.

    It would be great, if you provide us with the environment where you are trying the install the ADE.
    For Example,
    - ADE version
    - Operating System
    - Anti-Virus you are using.
    - did you logged in as Admin or user on your computer.
    (*any error message you are able to locate/view  from Event Viewer- If using Windows OS)

    i am having trouble with the canon image browser ex.After sevearl downloads i eventually got past the 80% mark.it is now downloaded.however as soon as I click on it it opens up and then a message comnes upm saying that there is a problem and windows is searching for the problem.it then closes the oprogramme down..Any help would be appreciated 

    I am having the same problem and have contacted Canon, they've answered me several times with things to try but nothing they've told me to try helps. It looks like they are going shrug, scratch their heads soon and  pass the buck to Microsoft or HP my comp make .

    I understand you have done all necessary troubleshooting steps that should have enabled you to send messages to iPhone users without them having to disable iMessage. Have you tried contacting Apple Support regarding the inability to send a text message to iPhone users? Apple can be reached at (800) 275-2273.
    In addition, do you get a certain error message when your WiFi stops working? Have you verifed that Auto Switch network is disabled? To disable this setting simply to go Settings > Wi-Fi > Tap the Menu Key(to the left of the home button) > Select Advanced and it is called `Auto network switch.     If you're updating your iPad with an over-the-air iOS update, the following Knowledge Base article offers up some practical steps for troubleshooting some of the issues that can arise:
    Resolve issues with an over-the-air iOS update - Apple Support
    In your instance, these sections may prove particularly useful:
    Download takes a long time, or you can't reach update server
    iOS updates require a persistent Internet connection, and the time it takes to download the update will vary according to the size of the update and your Internet speed. You can use your device normally while downloading the iOS update, and iOS will notify you when you can install the update. To improve the speed of the download, avoid downloading other content.
    If you get a message that "an error occurred downloading iOS," try again later. If the issue persists, try updating your device in another network or use iTunes to update your device. Learn more about iOS updates.
    Update does not complete
    If you're installing the update and the progress bar appears to move slowly, be patient. The time an update takes depends on the size of the update and the number of files on the device.
    When you're updating over the air, keep your device connected to a power source so that it doesn't run out of power. If your device does run out of power, connect it to a power source and turn on the device to let the update or restore complete.
    If the update never completes and the progress bar hasn't moved for an extended time, try restarting your device. If you still see the issue after you restart, see what to do if your device appears frozen or won't start.
