Having troulbe viewing pdf files in my adobe reader

I am having trouble seeing some pdf files like income tax returns or my sons fafsa application both online and when i try to uninstall to reinstall to see if that would fix the problem, in my add/remove programs it comes up and says "this patch package could not be opened. verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer patch package. when i open up up my adobe reader it says the version is 11.0.5. can you help me in telling me what i need to do?

I have a similar problem. After updating to Reader 11.0.6 on January 17, 2014, I could no longer print on certain printers. I finally was able to print again after uninstalling 11.0.6 and going back to a previous version which I selected from the Adobe other systems page - it was 9.5. Prints fine.
I tested this on two computers with the same results. The printing dialog box does not even appear - it works correctly with files from other applications such as Word.
My system configuration (I know it is old, but it works) - Windows XP Pro - both an SP3 - 32 bit and an SP2 32 bit. Network is Novell 4.12 and the printer is configured on a Novell print server. HP4050 laser.
I did try printing to another printer on the network, HP3012, which is configured as an HP IP printer - which worked OK using Reader 11.0.6.
Reader 11.0.5 was fine, 11.0.6 has a bug.

  • I cannot view PDF file (though have Adobe Reader 9 on my computer)

Why do I get the message "the application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect.  Reinstalling application may fix this problem" whenever I try to open a PDF file (both from Email and from Harddrive). I have Adobe Reader 9.  Does anyone have any clues?  Thanks.

Uninstall, use the Microsoft Installer Cleanup tool to remove anything left in the Registry, then re-install.

  • Hi. i'm having trouble viewing pdf files in safari

i'm having trouble viewing pdf files in safari.

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Why do old Adobe PDF files which I attach to a document show as Firefox files instead of an Adobe PDF file after an Adobe Reader update??

Why do old Adobe PDF files which I attach to a document show as Firefox documents in my files instead of an Adobe PDF file after an Adobe Reader update?  My saved files Adobe PDF documents also appear as Firefox documents instead of Adobe PDF files.

NO MATTER WHAT VERSION OF WINDOWS YOU'RE USING:
Right click one of the PDFs with the Word icon.
    Select "Properties"
Where it says "Opens With" there is a button to change it from Word to Adobe Reader, which should be in the list of available programs that pops up.
Choose Reader, and click APPLY before clicking OK.
That will change ALL PDFs to Reader as the default application.

  • PDF files opens in Adobe Reader  9 but not Adobe Acrobat Pro 9

After one of my users digitally signs a PDF file, and saves it, he cannot open it again.
He gets either a reference memory error or a Font Capture error.
I can open the same PDF file with Adobe Reader 9 and Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.
If  I take the same file to a system with Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 - same error on the same file.
Happens to my administrator account as well.
    Acrobat Pro 9 version: 9.4.1
    Adobe Reader version: 9.4.1
    Acrobat Pro 8 version: 8.2.5
    Windows XP SP3
    IE 7
Acrobat Pro 9 has been completely uninstalled, the system rebooted, and the software reinstalled.

So the option was already checked when opened the document. I went ahead and unchecked, closed, reopened just to test and it's still not displaying correctly.
In response to Bill@VT. The image is on top of a white background so I can't tell if there is space there or not, it's just all white.
She showed me another document that's doing something similar today. This time the pdf was done with a green background and now the background shows as white. It was created the same way with Indesign and it shows fine in Reader and the Windows preview pane just not Acrobat. I'm trying to get the user to find the installation media so I can remove and reinstall, but I'm not sure if she will be able to find it.

  • Saving fillable PDF file in Android Adobe Reader Mobile Application

I'll do my best to explain my situation.
    1. I open the fill-able PDF file from Google Drive with Android Adobe Reader Mobile Application.
    2. I fill out the pdf form using the Android Adobe Reader Mobile Application.
    3. Once I'm done filling-in the PDF, I would like to save the file in a specific folder in Google Drive.
I cannot find any saving option within the Android Adobe Reader Mobile Application.
The only way around saving was the "Sharing" feature.  It allows the user to share the pdf file using various android applications such as Google Drive, Email, and Evernote to share the file.
This does not allow for overwriting of the original file.  Therefore, you will create a new file every time you share the file.
I wanted to know if there was a way to save the file under the same name to overwrite the same file in the Android Mobile version.
    Thanks in advance.

You need to duplicate(and/or rename) it first (after finding it in the "Documents"  menu tab), then fill it out. This is the workaround for the missing Save/Save as menu. Once you fill out something, and leave the application, the document will be saved automatically.

  • Why cannot I copy selected text from a pdf file opened in Adobe Reader XI?

    Hi all,
I had a problem when I tried to copy some selected text on a pdf file([Linux.System.Programming(2nd,2013.5)].Robert.Love.文字版.pdf) , which was opened in Adobe Reader XI as below (non-English version):
The error's text could be primarily translated as "An error occured when copied to clipboard. Internal Error." I'm not sure about the reason of this. I guess it is a problem or bug related to operating system or Adobe Reader XI. I had this problem when I used other versions of Adobe Reader though I cannot remember the exact number of versions now.
The version of XI I'm using is 11.0.0.  The operating system is XP SP3.
As I was writing this question, the problem disappeared and I cannot reproduce it again now.
Could anyone help explain why the error message appearred or why the problem disappearred? If there is referrence provided, that would be finer. Thank you.

    The document has been protected.
Even if it doesn't have a password, the original author has applied "plagiarism" prevention to it.
There is a program from Wondershare, called PDF Password remover, that will remove such restrictions, but I'm not allowed to recommend it, only to point out it's existence.
