Haziness & broken pixel in Z1

http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/phones/xperia-z1/features/#camera
The pictures shown in this page are absolutely not from z1.
It is impossible to take such pictures from z1 with so much clarity especially when sun is in the background. In reality everything in front becomes dark.
There is also so much haziness in both pictures and videos taken by z1 no matter what mode you select. Also when you zoom photos you get broken pixels,it is not smooth.I don't think Sony is selling what they are marketing.
Z1 really needs a big software boost considering it has got such massive hardware configuration.
Is there something Sony is planning for Z1,please reply.

Nope, thats obviously not Z1's photo and you got the point no matter what mode u choose the photo never turns out to be so clear like that especially the one taken in the night (low light) so obviously not z1's photo and I don't believe there us a phone camera can takes such clear photos ! lol

I have snow leopard 10.6.3 and i have a 2008 refurbishd 3 month old imac with a 3.06 ghz intel core 2 duo processor and an nvidia geforce 8800 gs 512 mb graphics card. My problem is that i have a small barley noticable stuck or broken pixel on my screen. its just bothering me and i want to get rid of it but i don't know how to. any suggestions would be apperciated. you can only really notice it when the screens background is on white.

    Hi Joann
You might try Pixel Fix if your sure it's a stuck pixel and not a speck of dirt on the inside of the removable front glass panel. > http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/20962
If it is a speck of dirt on the inside of the glass panel, you may want to contact your Local Apple Service Provider and setup a time to have it cleaned if you are uncomfortable removing and cleaning the panel yourself. > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ep5GKKTtp9Q&feature=related

  • How many broken pixels are required before apple fixes my screen?

My macbook pro with retina is under a year old and seems to have 4 broken pixels. I do not understand how this happened as I am very careful with it. How many pixels need to be broken before apple takes my laptop and fixes it? Also if they take my computer, how long will it be gone for and do I get some kind of replacement?

It can take overnight to a little over a week, depending on the Store you go to and whether parts are immediately available. You do not get a "loaner". If a repair is arranged, you may be able to defer the repair until parts are available.
It depends on how they are stuck (white, black, or color) and how close together they are. There are complex formulas used in the evaluation.
Your appointment at the genius Bar at an Apple Store for an evaluation is FREE, in warranty or out. Apple Authorized Service Providers may have different policies.

  • My screen is freezing with broken pixels and lines

iMac i7 2.93Ghz 12gb DDR3 memory Running 10.7.5. Start Up Disc Lion HD
The issue appears to be random. Started a couple of months ago. The screen starts to freeze, mouse no longer works and unable to force quit apps or shut down normally and appears pixelated with various lines across the screen.
I can t say what triggers it and it seems to happen even when just a few minor apps are open like mail and Firefox.
The computer does seem to run hot and starts to work harder it seems.
The only way to resolve the freeze up is to hard shut down then pull the plug out of the power on wall and use the Pram key strokes to reboot. If I don't zap the pram or remove  the power plug it wont re start.
Hopefully I can attach a picture here.
Any info as to how to fix would be happilly recieved
    Jackie

Pretty much have the same problem! Everything work, but always got the pixels blinking all over the screen, until the whole computer freeze (or at least the screen) and I have to reboot it. I can reboot with the button and my gear works (mouse etc) Had to buy a new mouse recently though. Don't know if it has anything to do with the comp.
The comp seems to work way better in games (Heroes of Newerth) where the pixels are all gone. The comp. also seems to be a bit slower than usual overall, thinking at random.
    iMac i7 2.93Ghz 8gb DDR3 memory Running 10.10.2
I am about to buy new graphic card. Would appreciate some help before that to confirm whats wrong.

  • Dead pixel in my iPad

I was grievously disappointed to discover a dead pixel near the center of the screen in my iPad yesterday just before leaving to the U.S. from Japan.
Almost everything I have ever gotten from Apple has had a defect like this and I've had to fight fight fight to get it fixed each time.
But... I decided to see if I could get it replaced while here in the U.S.
So I made an appointment at the Genius Bar at the Apple Store at the Chestnut Hill Mall here in Boston and brought the iPad over at 2 pm.
The guy at the Bar was nice, saw the broken pixel and immediately said he'd swap it for a new one for me! So I was very pleasantly surprised and glad about that.
Then the new swapped one ALSO had a broken pixel - almost in the exact same area!!!
So he sort of sighed, but did a 2nd swap out for a 3rd iPad. This time we looked and looked (while impatient people were backed up to get help) and couldn't find a single broken pixel.
So fortunately this problem was resolved very nicely by Apple and I'm good to go. Using a 2 GB AT&T contract with an AT&T SIM card while I'm in the U.S.
I'm surprised that two iPads in a row had a broken pixel, and almost in the same area. But I was really pleased at the friendly, reassuring service I got at the Genius Bar.

    Yes, extraordinary bad luck.
While I haven't had problems with my desktop Macs (iMacs) or my iPhone 3G, every other mobile/portable device I ever bought from Apple, going back 20 years, has had something go wrong with it, usually from the start, often multiple times. Examples:
    - Duo: the screen had multiple broken pixels and needed to be replaced from the start.
    - iBook: the wireless card (then an option) was set improperly and wasn't working. Needed to be sent back for repair.
    - PowerBook G4: broken pixels needing replacement from the start, keyboard problems requiring top case and kb replacement. Also, that model had a really poorly designed cover that never closed properly (the famous wiggling cover problem.)
    - MacBook Pro: Failure 2 times in 3 years of my trackpad requiring replacement; broken pixels requiring replacement; hard disk failure requiring replacement. Two replacements of mother board! The last one 2 months after my AppleCare warranty ran out, but Apple fixed it anyway. Keyboard needing replacement. I'm using it right now on my trip to the U.S. and it's still working after almost 4 years, but it definitely has taken advantage of the AppleCare warranty multiple times. And I'm not a rough user - I almost never take it off my desk, except on travel.
    - iPod nano: Don't even get me started on that one. The screen was tilted (big discussion thread here) - they sent me 3 replacements, one worse than the other. I finally had to go to the Japan consumer affairs agency to force Apple to give me a refund. Which they finally did, with an apology and a gift certificate to use at the online store.
    - iPad: broken pixel needing replacement, followed by a 2nd iPad with another broken pixel needing immediate replacement.
This is just what I can remember off the top of my head.
Unless I am unusually unlucky, my own sampling over the years tells me that while Apple support is great and they take care of the problems after the fact, they definitely have quality issues coming out of the factory to begin with.
I always have to "mentally prepare myself" before buying an Apple product because I know I am very likely going to have to invest a certain amount of time in dealing with Apple support and getting things fixed afterwards. Eventually it turns out ok each time, but just knowing I will have to deal with it is stressful.

  • 3 displays - all with dead pixels!

Im loosing hope on Apples products right now!
I have returned three 24" led displays now - all with broken pixels!
Is it impossible to find one that not have this problem?
Its like buying a new Porsche with cracks in the wind shield!
A few years ago I also returned three 20" cinema displays that had 10-20
dead and stuck pixels and just gave up!

Hi Guys, I'm from New Zealand, I am on my third LED Display. Ive lost a little faith. I purchased the original from a premium reseller. Honestly, I have had so much bother I am too embarassed to go back. Apple and the reseller think Im crazy and tell me that Dust is a common issue and that I am picking trouble. I paid $1700NZD for this display, and I expect them to be perfect as they are overpriced. Just like buying a BMW as opposed to a Toyota, you expect flawless perfection in premium brands. All of mine seemed perfect out of the box, but the next day when the sun is shining on the screen I see dust, smudges under the screen and little marks. When I opened the last one I promised myself I wouldnt stand infront of it inspecting it, as this is how I find the defects. But when it comes to cleaning the display, you tend to notice these imperfections. I have been ringing Apple Care and they all seem to talk as if I'm OCD about the whole Apple dust situation. NONE OF THESE ARE PERFECT. But for the price they should be. I wonder if apple could directly replace my display rather than through my reseller? as I am too embarassed to go back.

  • Pixel policy on Yoga 2?

    Hi,
Yesterday I bought a Yoga 2 but as soon as I had brought it home and turned it on I discovered a dead pixel shining in bright white in the middle of the screen. It was extremely annoying so today I brought it back to retailer who explained to me that the pixel policy on Idea systems allowed for less than three broken pixels in a near vincinity of each other.
I also found this http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?DocID=HT035306 which is not saying what the retailer told me but what I still find very wierd.
Is it true that Lenovo does not take in consideration where the dead pixel is located and when it appeared?
I think it is sad that Lenovo does not have a zero dead pixel tolerance on the Yoga systems. The Yoga 2 is pretty pricy and when you buy a computer which is more or less an interactive screen you expect the screen to be working properly when you receive it.
    Regards,
    Joakim

Yup, that is the pixel policy page.

  • Dvd plays fine in a dvd player but pixelated in Apple DVD player

    Hi,
Thanks in advance. I have a dvd that I built/formatted in DVDSP with the default settings in place.
It plays fine in a DVD player, but once I try playing it back with Apple DVD Player, there is one 5 minute video clip that is heavily pixelated to the point that the pixels are literally 100 times larger than a normal pixel, and these faint, broken "pixel fields" jump all over the place and the image looks incredibly "glitchy".
Why is this happening? Does Apple DVD Player play DVDs with a different pixel aspect ratio or setup? Is there a setting for playback in a computer DVD player that I need to set upon Build/Format?
    Thanks...

In DVD Player, hit Command-1 which will play your video at Actual Size. If you try to "fill the screen" it will become soft and fuzzy because you are pixel doubling (or worse).
SD video is very low res.

  • Skype Video Call Clarity after PR 1.2 Release !

    Hi Guys,
Can any of you confirm how is the Video Clarity whilst making Video calls on Skype. is the Video and call clarity good enough.
I guess not many people have tried this since the PR 1.2 release. Dont see any posts so far on people confirming it?
    Cheers !

As good as a normal average webcam. Depending on the internet connection if it doesn't pixelate looks good enough.
I have only tried it over WI-fi, haven't tried over 3G yet....but happy so far.
So the image appears hazy and kind of with broken pixels ? as it appears in an average webcam !

  • FCP does not work after sleep - asking for quartz extreme card

    Hi all,
Well my 2 x 2.266 Dual Core Intel xeon with 5 gig memory is getting a little long in the tooth and I have started coming up against what I suspect is hardware issues.
    The OSX is 10.5.8
It has a blackmagic HD card as well as an ESATA rocketraid card.
I have a sohoraid attached as well as a Drobo (via firewire).
In the last couple of months I l've had a bunch of issues that I wonder if are at all related.
Firstly the DVD player app now freezes the whole computer if I try and start it.
when it first did this I spent forever rebuilding the system for it to only fall over again a month or so later.
    2) In the last couple of weeks, when I wake from sleep the mouse icon is gone and what is in its place is a small area of distorted, broken pixels. Still works as a mouse (the distorted pixels move round like an arrow) and the arrow returns when I tab through to another application. Weird...
    3) In that same time when I have started Final Cut Pro it immediately gives me a warning saying a quartz extreme video vard is required to run application and refuses to open. Restarting computer fixes this but this is a new development.
    4) I ran into an issue at beginning of the year with my soho 5bay raid where it said a drive failed and then couldn't rebuild with a new drive, took it to shop and it blinked into life on their computer. Drive was never broken. Its now back and running as it should, like it always did, but they couldn't see what went wrong.
These of course could be a unrelated but I somehow suspect not.
Any first 'go-to's" you would recommend to just try and trouble shoot this?
    THANK YOU!!!!

    Try these in this order:
    1. Set Mac to NEVER SLEEP. No exceptions.
    2. Repair Permissions on all drives.
    3. Trash Preferences for offending apps.
    4. Wipe and re-install fresh OS and apps every 6-18 months.

  • Poor Service From Apple - Useless PowerBook

I've been having extraordinary problems with my PB these last few months. Being a college student and freelance photographer, my PB is very important in most aspects of my life. It is my primary computer so it is very difficult for me to parth with it, even when I first started having HD problems in december. It started during my exam week so I simply could not afford to be without it as it was a necessary study tool. I got through winter vacation without restarting much (since it seldom booted properly). I did not want to give my laptop in for repair at that time because I was busy doing graduate school applications and I needed a fast and convenient computer. Later on, I tried reinstalling tiger in hopes that it might fix the problems. Tiger failed to install each time and my PB became a very expensive paperweight.
I took it to the Chicago apple store and explained my problems, they tried installing tiger and when it failed they believed me. They replaced the HD pretty quickly and I got the computer back after a week, I also had the display replaced because my display had become dim and yellowish. Feeling confident I dove back into my photography and photoshop work. On the second day, after 6 hours of photoshop work the computer froze and I had to reboot. It failed to boot (keys out of order) so I took it back to the apple store (I lost 2 days of work). It was fairly obvious that the problem was more than just another broken HD. I kept saying this to the employee who I met with at the genius bar, and, after a failed attempt to install tiger, they took the computer and replaced the HD, flex cable, clutch barrel subassembly, and inverter (I think).
I got the laptop back in about a week, this time it had an old version of panther installed. Still upset from last time, I wanted to see that disk utility could verify and repair correctly (since before it would disconnect from the disk management tool each time) before leaving the store. Then I wanted to update to the latest version of panther via software update to make sure there were no errors. While 10.3.9 was downloading, the employee assured me that it will work fine and that I should download it on my own. Not wanting to waste any more time I packed up and left. When I got back I started updating to the latest version of panther when software update crashed. When I reopened it to redo the update it said the permissions were wrong or missing and it could not continue. When I tried repairing permissions disk utility kept disconnecting from the disk management tool and could not repair. After many restarts and curses, I downloaded a package with the update to try to install it that way. It kept saying there were errors installing. Finally, I erased the whole HD and tried installing tiger again. Once again, it said there were errors installing and the PB was left without an os once more.
I took the computer to the apple store again and tried to explain everything that had happened. The employee listened only nonchalantly as he took my PB to try to install tiger on it. By some miracle, tiger installed and he told me the computer was fine. I was speechless but at the same time convinced that the PB was still very broken. Unfortunately, it's impossible to convince them of anything unless they can see it. So I packed up and left. I got my PB with 10.4.3, when I tried installing 10.4.4, it told me there were errors installing and it saved a package on my desktop. After restarting, I tried the package and it said the same thing. After restarting again, "about this mac" said I had 10.4.4 so I stopped trying to install it again. Disk utility was working fine. Later, I updated to 10.4.5 without any problems. However, it wasn't long before applications would spontaneously quit on me. After using the computer for photography again, I noticed that there were 11 broken pixels in the display. Since apple considers anything less than 5 or 6 (I think) as acceptable, I figured I had a shot at a new display again. I continued to use my PB for school work and photography until tonight. I realized that they never installed any printer drivers so I tried to install them off my tiger dvd. The installation reported errors. I tried logging out and back in to see if that might help, then I noticed my mouse wasn't getting power. Both my usb ports stopped working. Apple profiler correctly displayed any items I plugged in but the items would not work. I repaired permissions fine, and decided to verify disk as well. Disk verification failed and reported several errors. I then wanted to back up any work I did so I boot my iMac in target mode and tried the firewire port on my PB, it didn't work either. Now, my PB is back as a paperweight. This time, I have resolved to use phone support since the genius bar does not listen to what I have to say and has let me down three times.
Incidentally, my PB never undergoes any poor treatment on my part. It spends most of its time on my desk with the exception of a few trips into classrooms. How long before apple will stop wasting money and my time and energy on repairs and just replace the computer? Has anyone had anything similar happen? Can anyone offer any advice?
I feel slightly better now that I've gotten a chance to rant a bit. Thanks.

    > yes this is a user to user.....But when Apple does not want to answer customers and does anything, this is the best way to talked about the way apple treats its customers.
I do not want to stray too far but they will answer - if dealing with the right people. Users here cannot do anything other than offer opinions. At the end of the day, problems like those that the OP suffers can only be remedied through direct contact either via the Apple Store (ie. store manager) or AppleCare (ie. customer relations).
I am not trying to deter anyone from posting on these boards but discussing it here, whilst useful in finding out options, will not get Apple to fix or replace the PowerBook. Simply talking about this kind of problem with other users alone will not resolve the issue.
If one wants to report bad business experiences/practices, this is not exactly the best place either. Here, in the UK, we have Trading Standards and I'm sure the US has its equivalent. Then there is also the media. Either option will possibly generate more action than a discussion here.

  • Hope Someone at Apple read this

One month ago i've recived a new 23'' Apple monitor and soon i've noticed one pixel (in the center bottom of the display) not working properly.
I said one is not too bad!
but now that i'm writing the pixels not working properly are growing in the same area making them more evident (for precision today 10; sometimes are less but sometime are more 10 is an average number).
I can remeber Mr. Jobs sayng in one of last keynote that Apple lcd monitors are the best! Apple refuses the lcd display other companies use for their top of the gamma...etc.
Well ..... I've two 30'' and this 23'' in my studio and when i look at them...they are beautifull !But i'had troubles with pixels in 30'' (now solved) and the new 23'' has problems too.
I found difficult to trust Mr. Jobs words because i'use also other brands monitor (Sony, Eizo) and in no one i have one single broken pixel .
May be Apple should pay more attenction to the quality provided by their chinese suppliers.
    Come on Apple!

You may be able to convince apple that you have too many dead pixels. Try taking it into an apple store and see what they say
