HBONow

I subscribed to HBONow yesterday on my iPad and received an email stating "Welcome to HBONow".  HOWEVER, the HBONow app wouldn't accept my password. It gave an error message "there was a problem, please try again".  I then tried logging in multiple times as instructed. When that didn't work, I tried resetting my password 5 times, but none of the passwords worked. However, I received an email from HBONow stating "Updated Personal Information for HBONow" for each of my 5 password changes. I then went online and tried logging in there.  The online HBONow website didn't even recognize my email address as being registered in their system.
This morning, I awoke to an email from Apple stating "Your HBONow subscription will automatically renew soon".  Are you kidding me?  I tried logging in again this morning and had the same problems listed above.  I called HBONow support and was told that a lot of their users are unable to log in.  In response, I said "so HBONow doesn't work?"....and the guy said "yeah".  I asked him when they anticipated it would be functioning and he said he didn't know. I asked "a few hours? days? a week?" and he said he had not been given any information regarding when HBONow would be functioning.
In response to this lack of information, I asked whether HBONow would send an email to notify users when the system was functioning. He said he didn't know. I then asked if our HBONow registration dates would be adjusted.  He said he didn't know, but he recommended I call Apple and ask them to do that.  By this point, I was kind of ****** off.  I said "listen, if HBONow is unable to deliver its service per its agreement with Apple, HBONow needs to contact Apple to compensate its customers....not rely upon the customers to do it!". In response, he said "I'll put these two suggestions in your notes".  I said "you do that and while you're at it, let HBONow and Apple know that these two suggestions are called 'customer service'.

I updated my iPad, uninstalled HBONow, reinstalled it, reregistered for HBONow and was able to log in both on my iPad and online.

What is the difference between HBO GO® and HBO NOW℠?
HBO GO is HBO's online streaming service, that will remain available at no additional cost to HBO subscribers through their participating television provider.
HBO NOW is a new, standalone online streaming service that is available to all customers with a high-speed internet connection. HBO NOW℠ subscription prices may vary by participating partners.

  • HBONOW not showing on Apple TV

I subscribed to HBONOW, but the app is not showing on my Apple TV. I even restarted the TV, logged out and in still the App is not showing. Any suggestions

You know what - i had the same thing happen to me yesterday, but this was on my iPhone not my Apple TV.
I had media (movies, tv shows, music) synced but when i went into the iPod section of the phone it said i had no media at all. I plugged the phone back into iTunes and this confimed(by the status bar) I had nearly 20Gb of media on the phone. Unplugged and checked again - phone still reporting no media. Plugged back into iTunes, did a sync, watched as nothing was physically copied over to the phone, unplugged and all the media re-appeared.
iTunes definately did not sync anything as the actual sync took less than a minute.
Now, i know my issue is not about the Apple TV but it does sound like the same issue I had on my phone which points to the common factor in both cases - iTunes.

  • Apple TV/Apple Customer Service

I got an Apple TV in the mail, damaged, directly from Apple as an apparent gift.  There was no packing slip in the box, so Apple didn't leave me a way to track it and/or get an order number.  All I have is the serial number on the black box and it is barely legible.  So I'm posting this because the unit does not power on whatsoever - it is dead no matter what trouble shooting that I do.  I reset the unit, still no action.  I have to assume at this point the unit is defective, but Apple will not take it back without an order number.  What kind of customer service is this when Apple failed to put tracking information in the box to begin with????????  I hope a customer service supervisor sees my post and offers resolution. Please advise because I also want to buy HBONOW ASAP.

Precisely. If it was from Apple a signature would be required even if it was a gift (which is not something they would do in the first place), that is mandatory and there would also be a packing slip and it would be packed properly. If it was just the Apple TV box in your mail then someone probably just left it there, it wasn't from Apple. This is a user support forum, so just so you're clear you aren't addressing Apple nor will they be be seeing any of this.
Not having the latest firmware would have no bearing on whether or not it would power on. The iPhone method would still require the device to be powered. It is simply a means of transferring settings in order to setup things like wifi, iTunes account etc.

  • Movie previews S.....L.....O.....W to queue up

Is it normal to wait 5 to 10 minutes to load a 1 to 2 minute movie preview from the Apple TV channel when everything else (netflix, hbonow) steaming is nearly instantaneous?

You don't want (don't need) to convert to AVI to burn a DVD.
Open iDVD, drag in your .mov file, arrange things as you want and burn.
Then go to bed while iDVD does the work.

  • Bill still showing after cancelation

I recently (June) cancelled my Comcast, and brought the equipment back to Comcast. I have the receipt.  When I log into my account it still shows a bill of $181.something, and it says my equipment is still working. lol!  Of course, there doesn't appear to be a way of emailing Comcast to ask what's up.  (Former Acct: 8155300150594604) I don't want to waste my time being on the phone with their service center. btw: Switching to Sonic was easy, and OTT with HBONow and Amazon Prime rocks!

iPhoto still works and will not interfere with the new Photos.  If you have the space, I would hold on to it for a while till you are completely satisfied with Photos. There are many "issues" that  have been reported.
If you really want to delete it, go to your Applications folder and select the app.
Go to it's 'info' panel by clicking  Cmd-i
When the panel opens, click on the lock in the bottom right hand corner; this will ask for your computer password to unlock the panel.
Click on the plus sign. This will open another window that will allow you to add yourself to the "Name" list in the info panel.
    Select your name.
Go to the info panel and set your "Privilege" to Read & Write
    Click on the Lock.
You should now be able to Cmd-Delete the file.
