HBR Problem in EAS

Hi<BR><BR>I am having problems with HBR (EAS).<BR><BR>First I can not see the business rules in the planning form or the web. I went to the scripts in EAS and tried to get into any of them and see what the problem is. <BR><BR>What I am getting is an error, saying that it can not connect to the Planning Server. <BR><BR>I have done everything that has asked me in an event of HBR malfunction which is restart EAS service, restart HBR, run HSP_setupSupport, restart Planning, and I am still not getting anywhere.<BR><BR>If you have gone through this and know the solution, please help.<BR><BR>Regards<BR><BR>Mohammed

I logged this job with Hyperion Support team and at the end I had to reinstall Hyperion Planning and Essbase and it all worked. Apparently one of the files were corrupted in HBR. It all works fine now.

  • How to add HBR plugin in EAS console

    Hi All,
    The Business rule menu is missing the enterprise view tree. I figured out we can add the plugins through tools --> configure components.
    For HBR plugin, i need to add com.hyperion.hbr.easuiplugin. But i am not sure which .jar file contains this and what is the location of the file.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • EAS does not show Business Rules node

    I'm in the process of validating an 11.1.2 Planning installation. This is the development environment, so one Essbase server, one everything else server.
    One of the issues I've run across is that my client install of EAS does not have a Business Rules node (I am staying away from Calculation Manager because of multiple horror stories from multiple sources I have heard about it).
    However, it does show up in the launched-from-the-web version.
    The web launched release numbers are:
    EAS 11.1.2.0.00.462
    APS 11.1.2.0.0.615
    HBR 11.1.2.0.0.722
    And now this gets really weird. The client launched release numbers are:
    EAS 11.1.1.2.0.00.462
    APS 11.1..2.0.0.615
    HBR *4.1.1*
    Somehow my clean install has magically gotten the last release of Planning 4's Business Rules?
    It sure sounds like something didn't get installed correctly. I was able to find this thread regarding the same problem:
    How to add HBR plugin in EAS console
    In that thread, RahulS wrote:
    To sort this out give a try to copy common/log4j folder from the sever to the client or install the Integration Services Client on the machine where the Administration Services Console is installed.Unfortunately, there are multiple log4j folders and none (that I can see) that have a parent of common. Can anyone give me some guidance as to if this is a good solution and if so, a better hint as to what log4j folder I should grab?

    P.S. I found the install log for EAS and found two errors at the end of the install process, but I believe these are related to writing an icon to the desktop. This doesn't surprise me as this Vista laptop is locked down tight.

    There you go I was on the right track, who needs oracle support :)^^^Isn't this board a sort of unofficial Oracle support? I have to admit that after my first fruitless search of the KB on support.oracle.com, I purposely came here first before I had the client log a SR.
    That's wrong, of course, or at least a little illogical, given that the customer pays for support and after all, answering these kinds of questions is sort of their primary job. Putting on my ODTUG hat, KScope 2011 is going to have a support symposium that is going to focus on process (like why is Cameron so brain-dead that he can't type 'EAS and node' into the KB search field which pops up the obvious answer?) so that people don't do a time waster like I just did. It's going to have some pretty big names and I hope you all can come.
    I'm going to forward this thread to my contact at Oracle support as evidence that even "intelligent" people could use some help with how to do searches, no matter how elementary that may be.

  • Unable to expand Essbase server in EAS console

    Hi All,
    I have recently installed and configured Oracle Hyperion EPM Essbase 11.1.2.2 in a distributed virtual environment (One Foundation/WLServer VM, One Essbase VM, One Oracle11g DB VM). Host OS: MS Win server 2008 x64 (SP1).
    I am using Native Directory for authentication.
    I am able to login and connect to the Essbase Administration server in the EAS console. But when I try to expand the Essbase server in the EAS console, the Hy9Seas.exe process gets crashed in the background (Hyperion Admin services - web application service stops).

    I am able to log into Essbase server via MaxL shell (essmsh.exe).I have checked out all the logs on Essbase server, they are fine. The Hyperion Shared Services console is working fine as well.
    I have tried to increase the Maximum message size & POST timeout to maximum in WLServer. I have also removed firewall from all the ports of the VMs. But nothing seems to work.
    I went through other such cases of this error on OTN, John Goodwin's blog and internet but I could not find a conclusive solution anywhere.
    Can some one please help me figure out where the problem might be? Point me to some logs?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ishan

    The error "<Internal error: java.net.SocketException: socket write error: Connection aborted by peer...." can be ignored as it is common message.
    It might be worth checking out the EAS patches because I think some of them address problems with EAS crashing, also if you are using the web console make sure a supported java version is being used.

  • Unable to edit Outline in EAS WEB CONSOLE after JDK updated to 1.7.0_07

    Our windows infrastructure team upgrade JDK to 1.7.0_07 company wide. After upgrade I can login into the EAS console and do operations like searching for members, opening & closing outlines, looking at rules, calc script etc. But I cant add new member in the outline.
    When I try to edit the partition it gives the option to "repair or delete".
    Everything works when jdk is brought back to 1.6.0_29
    As per support matrix it says it support Oracle JDK 1.6.0_21+
    Due to company security policy we need to be at jdk1.7+
    Anybody has come across this issue.
    thanks

    Yes there are problems with EAS and JDK 1.7 so you will probably need to stick with the supported version.

  • Ease In/ Ease out issues

    Sometimes in the keyframe editor if I make an ending keyframe ease in, the starting keyframe is harsh. Even though it becomes an ease out keyframe, it never really eases out. It always seems as though one affects the other keyframe.
    I know this may be a little vague, but perhaps others have had similar problems with easing in/out. It's almost as though I have to choose one or the other - only one side will actually "ease"

    I had massive troubles with the ease in and out. Could never get the ease I was after. Then I came across
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/motion_working_keyframes1spencer.html
    And the Ease came with adjusting the interpolation to curve the slow stop of the keyframe movement.
    Hope that helps-

  • EAS issue - Urgent!

    Hi,
    I have a problem with EAS. I was browsing an application and something strange happened and the system logged me out.
    The build is on Linux and I have asked IT to restart the services to refresh and still I can't log on to EAS. When I try I get the error "Could not connect to Administration server".
    Weirdly the Excel interface of smartview and ad-hoc analysis still seem to be working correctly with all data intact. Any ideas what is wrong and how I fix it?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    It sounds like the EAS server has not started up fully, you need to check with IT for any error logs being produced or tell them to try and start it again.
    You will be still be able to access the data side as that is driven by essbase and not EAS.
    Cheers

  • EAS issue

    Hi,
    we have installed EAS 11.1.1.3(64 bit) on weblogic 9.3.1 manually. But we identified one component was not deployed properly with weblogic n we were not able to solve it. as we dnt require EAS administration stuff we have not worried abt it, as we do everyuthing in planning.
    Note: ESSBASE ADMINISTRATION SERVICES "service" was created, hence we can use web url of EAS, but couldnt access Administration Server in EAS.
    Now "we dnt have any problem with EAS in that particular server where it s been installed". But when we access the same from outside of the server, we are not able to see the "substituion variables", seesions,logs, etc n the members in the left pane which opens to refer the outline in the calc scripts, showing "error retrieving members".
    what could be the reason , can anyone help me out..s the server name too long could be a reason caz we have deployed with the server name in the weblogic
    ex: abcdefgh1.xxx.co.in.
    regards

    Hi,
    Server1 - windows 2003 server (64bit) (where EAS is installed)
    Server2 - windows 2003 server (64bit)(From where we are accesing EAS through WEB URL)

  • 7.1 EAS server crashing after using migration wizard

    We have 7.1 Essbase installed with EAS running on a Unix box and the Essbase server running on NT. If we use the migration wizard the EAS server crashes after the migration has run. Has anyone else experienced similar problems ?

    Problem solved. The .sec file was copied from a different server and the database storage settings referred to a drive letter that was not available on the 7.1 box. This caused the app to crash and brought down the EAS box as well. I guess I'm a bit surprised that this type of problem causes EAS to terminate as well, given that (most types) of database corruption don't cause 6.x Essbase servers to terminate.

    We've seen a few of these, for no obvious reason (I don't think any others had a permissions error, so it's probably not related).
    Start with a "full reset" of TM, per #A4 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.
    If that doesn't help, try repairing the backups, per #A5 there.
    If still no help, your installation of OSX may be damaged.  Try installing the "combo" update, per Installing the ''combo'' update and/or Reinstalling OSX.
    If still no help, try installing a fresh version of Snow Leopard (that won't disturb anything else), per the same article.
    A few of the folks that were having this problem solved it with a fresh install of OSX and installing the 10.6.7 "combo" instead of the 10.6.8 version.  For some others, however, that didn't help.

  • Weird problems with motion 3 displaying pink lines and other garbage

    I am using Motion3 to create HD graphics. With each of my projects I start with motion everything is fine until I build about 4 different layers or add any type of motion or filters.
    It seems as my projects get more complex my viewer window or canvas starts displaying weird things. Pink lines, white and black garbage, nasty thin lines, various other junk. Sometimes the image is completely gone.
    I have had some luck retrieving it by turning off motion blur or turning of field rendering and turning it back on. This fix only works sometimes.
    Other times my video displays fine until I render out and then the garbage happens.
    Anyone come across this?
    I am currently using a an ati radeon 9600 video card and it's running two monitors on dvi and one vga. I have ordered an nvidia 7800 gs in hopes it will fix this problem and ease the pain of render times.
    I have been using motion 2 for a while and never had this issue. I was hoping to milk this system for a while before having to upgrade.
    Any thoughts or suggestions?

    I think you are pushing that card to it's limit with HD and splitting the VRAM across two monitors. I would bet a new card will clear things up.

  • PIX-520 watchdog failure problem

    I tried to upgrade PIX-520 ios version up to 6.1(1) with a floppy disk which is created by boot helper file bh61.bin PIX firewall opened in boothelper> mode easily after booting floppy. Then i tried tftp downloading into the flash the file pix611.bin . There was no error but instead of asking do you want this file write to flash it rebooted with the following error!
    "Watchdog timeout failure! Please contact customer support."
    After all, i recognized solution by "erasedisk" file but the problem is still there. After downloading erasedisk611.bin file its output was the same. Again a watchdog timeout failure. In attachment there is a command output off all this.
    What i have to do to solve this problem in ease?
    Thank you.

    Did you got the pix working?
    I am having troubles but tried to install 7.x.
    Now I am getting the Watchdog timeout failures and even when trying to use erasedisk611.bin the messages keep comming.

  • Order of variables in calculation manager 11.1.2.2 rulesets

    Hi,
    We are in the process of migrating all our 11.1.2.1 HBR Sequences to 11.1.2.2 Rulesets. While migrating the sequences to rule sets I came across an issue where the order of the variables displayed in the Ruleset designer "Variables" tab doesn't match the order of the rules in the rulesets. This is not the case with the HBR sequences in EAS where the variables are associated with rules with valid Index.
    Eg:
    EAS
    Order of rules in the Sequence: RuleA, RuleB, RuleC
    Order of variable in the Launch Variables Tab: VarA1,VarA2,VarB1,VarB2,VarC1 ( Assuming that VarA1,VarA2 and VarB1,VarB2 and VarC1 are variables associated to rules A,B and C respectively.
    Calc Manager
    Order of rules in the Sequence: RuleA, RuleB, RuleC
    Order of Variables in the Variables tab: VarC1,VarA1,VarA2,VarB1,VarB2 ( Random)
    My case is more complex because I'm running the same rule for different values for a particular runtime prompt 38 times and they have to run in a order. Now I couldn't associate the rule with the variable that I'm changing.
    I tried creating the sequence from scratch rather than importing it from 11.1.2.1 but no luck. Please help!

    Raj,
    I opened up the .xml file from the Ruleset export and the "Seq_index"( which specifies the rule to which the variable belongs) and "seq" number (which specifies the variable order) are in the correct order as the rules order in the ruleset. But still the variables are not displayed in correct order in the "Variables" tab of the ruleset.
    Eg.
    Rule order in the rule set: R1,R2,R3
    <variable_references>
    <variable_reference id="3772" name="*R1v1*">
    <property name="seq"> *2* </property>
    <property name="seq_index"> *1* </property>
    </variable_reference>
    <variable_reference id="3770" name="*R1v2*">
    <property name="seq"> *3* </property>
    <property name="seq_index"> *1* </property>
    </variable_reference>
    <variable_reference id="3771" name="*R2v1*">
    <property name="seq"> *4* </property>
    <property name="seq_index"> *2* </property>
    </variable_reference>
    <variable_reference id="3773" name="*R2v2*">
    <property name="seq"> *5* </property>
    <property name="seq_index"> *2* </property>
    </variable_reference>
    <variable_reference id="3774" name="*R3v1*">
    <property name="seq"> *6* </property>
    <property name="seq_index"> *3* </property>
    </variable_reference>
    Displayed order of variables in calcmanager: R2v1,R2v2,R1v1,R1v2,R3v1 (Note that the variables belonging to the same rule are showing up in correct order).
    It will be very difficult to me to modify the seq# and index in the xml file as I have 40 rulesets with each having 20 rules and around 5 variables for each rule.
    Thanks,
    Swaraj.
