HBRs migrating from EPM 11.1.1.4 to 11.1.2.2.

Hi All,
          I am facing an issue migrating my HBR from 11.1.1.4 to calc manager in 11.1.2.2.
          I've migrating my HBRs from 11.1.1.4 to 11.1.2.1 version and exported them to XML file checking the option "For Cacl Mgr" at EAS.
          When I've tried to migrate them to 11.1.2.2 version I've got the following error :
The import was not sucessful
The plan type 'defPlan' on object 'HM14BDIP0005_BAL' is invalid. Please specify a valid parameters were found in the document for importing
         After look into the XML files, I've found that the app and database name was missing as follow :

          Should I have to apply some PSU 11.1.2.2.304 to Planning and 11.1.2.2.303 to Calc Manager applyting the patch set below ?

There are some bug fixes with migrating business rules to calc manager in the patches though it is not possible to say whether these will address the problem you are experiencing, the fixes look to be aimed at the functionality side after migrating.
It is probably best to patch 11.1.2.2 anyway as there have been a number of important fixes been addressed.

Bulk Project Site option isn't working in project server 2010 migrated from PS 2007.

Hi,
I am doing a test migration from epm 2007 to epm 2013.
So first, i need to migrate the project server 2007 to project server 2010. i have 2 separate environments for EPM 2007 and EPM 2010).
there is no problem in migration process and i successfully migrate entire PWA 2007 to 2010, except Workspaces (Project sites).
Bulk project site option is not helping. I have tried 4-5 times with different PWA 2007 databases (PWA1, PWA2...) but this option did not work. and errors in queue are WSSWebDoesNotExist(16405) and GeneralQueueJobFailed(26000).
Then next time while migrating all over again i kept the same port and same PWA name then bulk project site option worked.
Question is, Do i need to keep the same PWA name and same port for the new upgraded PWA??, one more issue regarding this is that if don't keep the same PWA name and i open the project site and click on the "Project web app" back link, it
redirects me to old PWA site which doesn't exist and give me page not found error (Obviously).
Below, you can see the both scenarios.
my previous PWA 2007 site, say - http://epm2007:2222/PWA
When - migrated PWA 2010 site, say - http://epm2010:3000/NewPWA (Bulk project site update just doesn't work)
When - migrated PWA 2010 site, say - http://epm2010:2222/PWA (Bulk project site update worked)
Whats the solution of this problem. is there any utility or query to link all project sites correctly?
Will i face the same problem while migrating PS 2010 to PS 2013??

Hi,
I would say it is easier to keep the same PWA name between 2007 and 2010 (no need to have the same port).
If you want to move to a new PWA URL maybe you can use stsadm backup/restore as detailed in this article?

Migration from 2007 to 2010 - AD issue

Hi,
I'm currently migrating from EPM 2007 - EPM 2010 with a great handicap,
the source AD "source-ad.com" its not the same at destination "destination-ad.com"
Can I commit the migration, changing the "source-ad\user01" account resources, to "destination-ad\user01"?
I assume that the account name are the same between "source-ad" and "destination-ad.com"

Migration of FR report from epm 122 to epm 123

We are making plan for migration of epm 11.1.2.2 Financial reports to
Epm 11.1.2.3 .
In epm 11.1.2.2 uses excel addin functionality but in epm 11.1.2.3 oracle removed it
My questions are:-
1)Is any impact on formulas and calculations after migration reports?
2)Will my reports properly runs after migration ?

We are planning to migrate brio from 8.5 to 11.x..
1.Which version we have to migrate from 8.5 ? Is it 11.1.2.2 or earlier versions?
2. How to download versions earlier 11.1.2.2(Ex:11.1.1.3)?
3.Our workspace has 300 user accesibililty,is it good to install workspace,shared services in same server or do we have to install in separate servers?
4.Why migration utility has been removed in 11.1.2.2 ?

No migration utility is only to migrate brio to workspace...For moving to OBIEE there is a separate tool called Workbench utility.
2. How to download versions earlier 11.1.2.2(Ex:11.1.1.3)?
Raise a non tech support ticket to get older versions,if not available in edelivery.

Depends,if you are more of a reports user,then you can have workspace/shared services in one box and Reporting Analysis in another

No.Both RA and workspace (Workspace is now a part of Foundation) are different in 11.1.2.x versions.

Migration from 8.3 to 11.1.2.1

We are planning to migrate from Hyperion performance suite 8.3 to Oracle EPM 11.1.2.1 through Migration utility. But we have 2 different source system. is that possibel to migrate 2 source system into one target system. 2 sources system uses the oracle source repository.

This is not a Distributed environment. Here the two source systems are different standalone applications. One is Unix and the other is solaris. Still now they ae using two different environments seperatley, now we are planning to migrate these two different source systems into a single target system.
Our questions is as it is two standalone applications it has its own foundation and product deployed databases (both uses oracle Repository) will it make any issuses while migrating 2 foundation services databases to a single foundation services database (11.1.2.1) as the same way two Brio deployed databases to single target IR database (11.1.2.1).

FDM migration from 9.3.1. to 11.1.2

Hi,
can someone recommend me the steps to migrate from FDM 9.3.1 to 11.1.2 ? As per Oracle, there is no migration path. However, I am thinking about the following steps
Study existing application. Identify customizations
Install FDM 11.x as a new installation
Create application and configure adaptors
Install and configure shared services
Migrate application metadata from 9.3.1 database to 11.1.2 database. Application metadata would include - Locations, Import formats, Logic Groups, Validation entity lists, Validation rule lists, control tables (period & scenario tables)
Extract dimension mappings from 9.3.1 and import into 11.1.2
Migrate scripts – Import, event and custom
Re-implement custom reports, Re-implement custom tables and parameter files built in 9.3.1
Re-implement security set-up
Regression test all application functionality
Provision users is Shared services and FDM application
It is high level. But can someone sugest any alternate option

I have just tried to migrate from 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.1 and even though there is a lot of help from Oracle documentation

Doc ID 1067430.1 - Migrating an FDM Application From a System 9 Environment to a FDM version 11.1.1.0 and Higher Environment
Both of these references only take you as far as getting the application into Workbench.
You then need to reassign and synchronise the adapters.
The control tables will not migrate so they have to manually updated See Doc ID 759872.1
You need to also go through the integration settings and review all the default options.
I found the drill back option caused a lot of issues for us and once it was turned off things improved a lot !

I have an immediate requirement to migrate huge essbase applications from essbase 7.5.1 to system 9.
as per my knowledge, i believe that we can migrate from 7.5.1 --->9.2.0.2--->9.3.1 or EPM 11i.
Anybody who have worked on the same please confirm.
Or if there is any ohter way to do it, please let me know.

Migrating from 6.5.4.2

We will be finally moving from 6.5.4.2 to the latest version that supports Windows 7, which I have been told is 9.3.1.
Does anyone have any advice? I am waiting on IT to set up a lab for me and so we can move through the recommended steps so am just anxious to know if anyone else had done a similar move and what their experience has been.

Thank you for your response......Yes, there is a reason we are not going all the way to 11 - per the response I got earlier from Oracle re: the upgrade:
Having this said, if you are upgrading from 6.5.x to 11.1.2 (latest release), then upgrade is NOT supported. Please see this section from the 11.1.2 ReadMe:
This release is intended for new deployments only. Upgrading or migrating from previous EPM System releases is not supported. In addition, products from this release are not compatible with products and applications from previous releases unless otherwise specified in the "Release Compatibility" tab of the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System 11.1.2.0 Certification Matrix.
Upgrade/migration will be supported in the 11.1.2.1 (SP1), but mixed versions is not supported at all, so you would need to upgrade everything.
So, by following Oracle's advice, guess we'll have to stick with moving to 9.3.3

Creation of domain issues - migration from weblogic 10.3.0 to 10.3.5 versio

Basically we are migrating from the 10.3.0 to the 10.3.5 version. We are building the domain using the template in "silent mode". And when i try to create the domain with new weblogic 10.3.5 im getting some errors.

thanks for the reply but im not sure if we are talking about the same thing. What i need is to upgrade the weblogic "DOMAIN" not the weblogic installation itself.
Anyway,
after some googling and testing im again stucked with another issue:
1. First i have created the old doman (10.3.0)
2. Then i have tested the domain with the new weblogic version 10.3.5 - as it should be (and is) compatible within those 2 versions
---> worked fine
3. Then via offline WLST(of weblogic 10.3.5) i have managed to create new template with command writeTemplate(nameOfTemplate.jar)
4. But when i try to create the new domain with the new template via WLST(of weblogic 10.3.5) im again stucked (im able to read the template in wlst but not able to writeDomain ) - error:

I tried to have a look around for the "The application location must have write permission." problem but again with no luck.
Furthemore when i try to do the same with old domain template, with old version of WLST (of weblogic 10.3.0), i have no problems with creating of the domain.

Removing Public Folders after migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013

Recently we migrated from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. We did not migrate Public Folders and are retiring them from Exchange altogether. I shut Exchange 2007 off for a couple of weeks to ensure 2013 functions properly and it does so we're
ready to decommission Exchange 2007. I was able to remove all the mailbox databases without a glitch. Using the EMC I click to remove the Public Folder database from Exchange 2007 and get the following message:
Error: The public folder database "server\storage group - Public Folders\ Public Folder Database" contains folder replicas. Before deleting the public folder database, remove the folders or move the replicas to another public folder database.
Any help appreciated.

If you run the following command does it come back with any public folders?
Get-PublicFolderStatistics -Server "SERVERNAME" | fl

ActiveSync stops working after migrating from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013

We have started the migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. We've followed best practices and everything is working great except ActiveSync. I've performed Exchange migrations in the past so this is nothing new for me. I've also been referring to
a great guide which has been a big help,

Once a user is migrated from Exchange 2007 to 2013, ActiveSync stops working properly. Email can be pulled to the device (Nokia Lumia 625 running Windows Phone 8) by performing a manual sync. But DirectPush is not working. The strange part is it's not affecting
everyone who's been migrated. Anyone who is still on Exchange 2007 is not affected.
At first I thought it was our wildcard certificate. 99% of our users are running Outlook 2013 on Windows 7 or higher but we do have a few terminal servers still running Outlook 2010. Outlook 2010 was giving us certificate errors. I realized it was the wildcard
certificate. Rather than making changes to the OutlookProvider I simply obtained a new SAN certificate. Although that resolved the issues for Outlook 2010 users, ActiveSync was still a problem.
Rebooting the phones and removing the email account from the user's device and re-adding it didn't resolve the issue either.
Then I performed an iisreset on the CAS server. This didn't help either. I didn't know it at the time, but I was getting closer...
I tried using the cmdlet Test-ActiveSyncConnectivity but it gave me the following error:
WARNING: Test user 'extest_0d9a45b025374' isn't accessible, so this cmdlet won't be able to test Client Access server
connectivity.
Could not find or sign in with user DOMAIN.com\extest_0d9a45b025374. If this task is being run without
credentials, sign in as a Domain Administrator, and then run Scripts\new-TestCasConnectivityUser.ps1 to verify that
the user exists on Mailbox server EX02.DOMAIN.COM
I started reviewing how Exchange 2013 proxied information from the CAS to the mailbox server and realized the issue may in fact be on the mailbox server.
I performed an iisreset on the mailbox server and all of a sudden ActiveSync started working again. Awesome!
I can't explain why. The only thing I can assume is when some users were migrated from 2007 to 2013 something wasn't being triggered on the Exchange 2013 side. Resetting IIS resolved the issue. I guess I'll have to do an IIS reset after I perform a batch
of migrations. Disabling ActiveSync and re-enabling it for the affected users didn't help - only the IISRESET resolved the issue.
If anyone has any information as to why this happens, please chime in. Also, if anyone knows why I can't run the Test-ActiveSyncConnectivity cmdlet, I'd appreciate the help.

In Exchange 2013, the Public Folder is changed to Public Folder mailbox instead of Public Folder in Exchange 2007 database.
Due to the changes in how public folders are stored, legacy Exchange mailboxes are unable to access the public folder hierarchy on Exchange 2013 servers. However, user mailboxes on Exchange 2013 servers or Exchange Online can connect to legacy
public folders. Exchange 2013 public folders and legacy public folders can’t exist in your Exchange organization simultaneously. This effectively means that
there’s no coexistence between versions.
For this reason, it’s recommended that prior to migrating your public folders, you should
first migrate your all legacy mailboxes to Exchange 2013. For more information about migrating public folder from previous versions, please refer to:

Cross Forest Migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013

Hi
Could anybody advice me the steps also the pros and cons for below mentioned environment if we are going for the cross forest migration.

Active Directory - Windows 2003
Exchange Server - 2007
Target
Domain - test.net
Active Directory - Windows 2012
Exchange Server - 2013
Also if it is possible ,
How could I remove the source environment including the exchange servers. after the migration ?

In my environment we are in a plan to migrate from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013 (cross forest migration).
Source : Exchange 2007 with sp3 ru 10
Target : Exchange 2013 with cu2 ( new environment yet to be created).
Trust : Forest trust in place (two way )
Domain and forest functional level : 2003 in both target and source
Migration Steps :
Step1 :
We are in a plan to execute 'preparemoverequest.ps1' first in the target forest ,so that we will get the disable MEU
in the target forest.
Step2:
Then we are going to use ADMT to migrate users SID'S and password .
Step3:
Then we are going to move the mailboxes with New-moverequest
Please have a look in to our steps and suggest us ,whether we are going to proceed the migration in a right way or not
.Is anything needs to be changed please intimate me .

Use ADMT first, then when using preparemoverequest.ps1 script using the -uselocalobject cmdlet. This will then tie it up to the ADMT migrated account.

Migrating from Exchange 2007 to exchange 2013 ( special case )

Hello ,
what is the BEST scenario ( fastest , most efficient , most secure in terms of data loss ) , to migrate from exchange 2007 ( one server , all exchange roles installed on this server , 1200 mailbox ) , to exchange 2013 ?
knowing my environment needs to be connected to their mailboxes , 24/7 !
it's very frustrating .
and i have no clue even if this is the right place to post about this , if not please refer me as to where to post .
Also , All my domain controllers are 2008 .

It's fine to post your question here, and you are fine with Server 2008 Domain Controllers - that is a supported scenario.
If you haven't performed such an upgrade and you need to have 24/7 mailbox availability, I would seriously recommend you to duplicate the production environment on a test network and run through the upgrade at least once.
Most people neglect the Outlook clients requirements - they need to be updated and include several specific updates, which allow the automatic reconfiguration of internal clients. If you are preparing for this upgrade, you should be aware that all internal
Outlook clients switch to Outlook Anywhere. Clients that miss these updates will get connectivity problems.
Another common problem is the configuration of the Exchange URL - I mean the Exchange 2013 URL and the modified Exchange 2007 URL that will allow the co-existence. In your case, you definitely need to plan for co-existence - that includes requesting and
installing a new Exchange UCC (Multiple Domain Certificate) on both Exchange servers, configuring Split DNS (or preferably PinPoint DNS zones), and correct timing when replacing the existing Certificate on the Exchange 2007 server. Failure to configure the
correct URL (and it's quite easy to miss one, so triple check them) will get you in trouble.
Once you get through the switchover (switching the mail flow and Client Access through the Exchange 2013 server), move just a couple of test mailboxes and check the result.
Finally, if you are moving the Public Folders, make sure that the lock is really applied before you complete the process. Most people proceed right away and that get's the process stuck. If you can afford it (the mailboxes are already on the Exchange 2013
server at that point), just restart the Exchange 2007 server (after locking the Public Folders) and then complete the Public Folder migration.
