Hd 4000 bootcamp
Having installed a windows Ultimate x64 on a 100gb patition, in the Device Manager appears only the Nvidia Gpu but not the Intel's HD 4000.
All Bootcamp drivers and updates are installed and function properly.
Booting to Mountain Lion both Gpu appeae correctly!!!!
what is wrong???????????????????
My Laptop is MacBook Pro Mid 2012 9.1
Flip your power management profile to Energy Saver in Windows and see if that makes it appear. Previous chipsets that had dual graphic cards with smart switching (i.e. Intel 3000 series) allowed for this to happen in Windows, but only with the correct NVidia drivers loaded under Windows (i.e. not the ones that came with Bootcamp.) This may no longer be an option under the 4000 series, but I'm not 100% sure... I haven't messed with it since the 4000 series 13" MBPs no longer have dedicated nVidia cards in them like the previous models did.

NVIDIA issue on MacBook Pro retina 15 (bootcamp)
hello guys! merry christmas everybody
i have such problem: i bought MacBook Pro retina 15, when i came home i installed windows 7 thru bootcamp, after that i decided to check how many points of perfomance do i have, (in windows you can see that in computer - system properties) and i was 7.2
my games worked amazing on highest level of perfomance, i didn't see such performance anywhere.
10 days later i decided to play, and when the game started it was so bad, everythings hanged very much!! i decided to see what happend to my system and i saw this
and i can't do anything! i returned my mac to the store where i have bought it and they gave me a new one, but after 10 days the same thing happend to a new one. i don't think that it brokes maybe it's some problem which can be solved? maybe i can change something in stting or via terminal? as i think something wrong with nvidia card, seems like mac doesn't change video cards from intel to nvidia when a hard programm is started
help me please!!The Retina models are full of flaws. You have found one of them. For some reason the discrete graphic card is being shut off in Windows and you are now using the built in Intel HD Graphics 4000. Why I have no idea.

Poor graphics performance on Macbook Pro with windows 7 bootcamp
I have a 13" Non-Retina Machbook Pro with Intel HD 4000 Graphics, purchased around 2 years ago. I installed Bootcamp for certain assignments for school, running Windows 7, and started playing videogames on it. I played Dark Souls and Chivalry, mainly, and both ran reliably at a pretty mediocre framerate but with decent graphics settings. I picked up Dark Souls 2 in the summer, and was able to run it and medium-high graphics with decent framerate. several months later, after not having played on Windows for a while, I came back to Dark Souls 2, but found that the game would run with this strange, pulse-y lag, like everything would animate quickly for a moment before pausing and continue again. the framerate itself was normal, it would just stutter constantly. (about one pause per second) and it wasn't a complete freeze, either. The game would move very slowly for a moment instead of freezing.
Anyway I was surprised and decided to test it with Chivalry. Same Problem. Kingdoms of Amalur, same problem. All of these were windows only so I decided to compare something that could run on both platforms. I tested it with league of legends - Mac side: Medium-high graphics with 60 fps. Windows side: Low graphics with pulsing lag and 30fps.
I read through some articles and found something about SMC reset. Tried that. No effect.
Then I updated my drivers. No effect.
Any idea what's wrong with my windows-side graphics?I have Windows 7 Pro Boot Camped on my Mac Mini (late 2012) HD 4000 as well. Nvidia driver. On a graphics intense game of mine I have learned to just get by. Unfortunately using Nvidia or other graphics driver updates through Windows Update is the best you can do. I would not attempt or recommend a newer graphics driver from the manufacture website. You may end up rendering your Windows unusable. Windows 7 has great benefits on a Mac, but, limited user options. One of my graphics intense programs had to be found and purchased from the App Store. Windows version just would not run correctly. If you are stuck with the RAM that came with your MBP, you may want to upgrade to 8 or the full 16 GB of RAM which may help. Otherwise I find Windows to run quite well. I use it for DVD playback and Media Center which runs great. I have 4 GB of RAM. Cheers!

Some Solutions, 1 remaining prob with MBP, Windows 7 64-bit, Bootcamp
It has taken me about 3 months to get Windows 7 64-bit (OEM disk purchased from TigerDirect) to work on my MacBook PRO 17" 2.4GHz, and it is still not quite there.
FIRST: It seemed impossible to load. I put the disk in the drive, held Option key down, selected Windows (from the DVD), and was presented with a black screen with white writing that said: 1. 2. Select Boot Type. That would be it. No response from the keyboard or even a USB keyboard. I read about an incompatibility with EFI naming conventions between Apple and Microsoft. Something about naming conventions. The solution is elsewhere in these discussions and involves re-creating the Windows install DVD with an EFI naming convention that apple likes. That worked, and the re-burned Windows disk booted! Hurrah?? No.
NEXT: The installation process started - all the correct Windows screens popped up, but it was incredibly slow. In fact, the installation process took 24 hours (YES!) to complete. Once it was done, I rebooted. The flying orbs started. I was excited! But instead of a login screen, I was presented with a black screen and a movable white mouse cursor, and that was it. I left it on this screen for 24 hours, with no change whatsoever. No sound. No response to CTL-ALT-DELETE. No response to holding the shift key down or pressing it 5 times - all things recommended by some folks who were able to pull up taskmgr this way and launch Explorer. For me, this was not possible. Nothing worked.
NEXT: I thought I'd check to see if Windows 7 64-bit really installed on the bootcamp partition. I did this by firing up Parallels 5 and pointing it at the bootcamp partition, where it found Windows and cheerfully offered to boot it for me. It worked, but this is not what I wanted. Still, it was enough to prove to me that the install was complete, valid, and bootable.
Months passed with trying various things.
Finally, I read about something involving memory. I fired up parallels, went to a dos prompt in my Windows 7 install thanks to Parallels access to it, and typed MSCONFIG. There's a boot tab there, and when you click on Advanced, you'll see a Maximum Memory box. Type a number in here like 2000 or 3000 (I have 8GB RAM installed, so I typed in 4000) and applied the change, then shut down windows in Parallells. Then, I restarted my mac and booted into Windows. Guess what??!? It BOOTED!! Now, all memory tests tell me that all 8GB of my RAM are fine. I swapped the two DIMMS and no change, so one DIMM is not bad. My EFI is 64-bit capable. My Windows version is 64-bit. So, when I right click on My Computer, select Properties, and read the screen it says: MEMORY: 8GB installed, 2.97GB usable. Now, I understand that some of the 4GB is used up by devices so I get this 2.97 number, but what gives??
So this is where I need some brilliant guy's help: What's the deal with the RAM? If I type a number above 4000 in the box in Windows, I can go up to about 4080 but after that, the number won't stick (goes to 2 or 3 or something crazy). Again - EVERYTHING is 64-bit: The EFI, the Windows 7 install, and my MBP is one of the supported ones. So what on earth could be the problem?
(Oh, and yes, I loaded the Bootcamp 2.2 drivers from my Snow Leopard DVD, then loaded the Bootcamp 3.1 updates and drivers, yes my Magic Mouse works, yes the screen is perfect, yes I do have sound, yes Windows Properties says it's Windows 7 64-bit, but I do have the heat problem mentioned elsewhere in these forums.)
Your thoughts would be very appreciated!I'm looking into running Windows 7 64bit on the exact same MBP you have, so I'm curious as to whether or not you've found a solution yet outside of the forums.
Do you think it might be that the bootcamp 3.1 update is only for Windows 7 32bit and not for the 64bit version? -
Random rebooting. Mac Pro. Bootcamp. Why?
Hi
I have an early 2008 Mac Pro running bootcamp and last night it started randomly rebooting. Sometimes it occurs a couple minutes after it has booted. Sometimes it takes longer.
As I am pretty Mac-illiterate I would greatly value any help in this matter because I do not know what to do.
Here is some background info:
Early 2008 Mac Pro. Dual quad core intel Xeon processors, 2.8 Ghz (8 cores total). 20GB RAM. Video card is Nvidia 2GB Quadro 4000.
It got a new main board installed under warranty in about 2009.
Less than a year ago it got new Hard Drives (4X SATA), OS, Graphics card, Matrox MX02 mini max card with external rack. It boots to Mac OS 10.7 Lion but I almost always boot it and use Windows 7 Pro 64 bit using bootcamp because most of my work is done with windows software.
Since the new drives, graphics card, Matrox Mini Max, Mac OS, Windows 7 SP1, and fresh install of all software and plugins it has worked excellent (until last night and today).
The newest system drive is divided between Windows 6 and Lion. 2 of the other drives are for windows media and the 4th is for Mac media.
The version of bootcamp is whatever came with Lion 10.7.
The computer was only connected to the internet when I did the os download, install and all the software activations. It has not been connected since then.
What seems to happen is approx 2 minutes after booting to windows it will just reboot and I hear the chime and it goes to a windows black error screen asking to start normally, etc.. It usually will then reboot another 1-3 times before it finally loads windows and then appears to work normally.
At that point it may work for several minutes or longer until it reboots again.
The rebooting occurs just sitting on the desktop and not running any particular program.
This morning after several reboots I held down "option" and instead booted to Mac OS to see if it would reboot. It sat on the desktop screen for several minutes with no problem. However then I had to shut it down and leave so I certainly cannot conclude whether or not the reboot problem occurs in both Windows and Mac OS or not....yet.
I don't know if it's a power supply (hardware), Operating system problem or what. I'm lost and I really need this computer to work.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.I booted to Lion and let it sit on the desktop. Went to eat and came back in the room about 10 minutes or so later and the screen was black but the tower white light was on.
I pressed the "up arrow" key and it came alive, fans and all. The screen light to the mac desktop very briefly and then it rebooted and rebooted again before finally starting windows.
Btw, I have preferences set to start windows unless I hold down option on the Mac keyboard and select the Mac OS for boot.
So Mac OS is not spared from the problem. What is going on.
Now I've been working over half an hour in windows and it's working fine....for now. ?! -
Gaming issues and heat issues, running windows 8.1 pro via bootcamp
I have a few problems, and I don't know what else to do, then to write for help here..
I really hope someone out there can help me, because I have had this problem since I bought my laptop mid 2012, and I got smarter since then, so now I know that I actually shouldn't have these problems, it's not because my very expensive laptop is bad, or that it is a laptop or because it's a mac, regardless of what people say, I'm positively certain that it's a problem which shouldn't be there.
I have pretty great specs, (trust me i checked them out, not the best in the world, but pretty good) yet I can't enjoy 1 single mmorpg game like, Tera, or the new Archeage (currently in open beta), or any other game, (swordsman online)... Even though people say Tera has bad coding, I have tried adjusting things for weeks if not months, NOTHING helps, i get a frame rate that is from 0-25 very unstable, usually around 7-12, and sure if I go the lowest settings in the games I can get very unstable framerates but i guess they can get up to around 35-72 but drops to like 7 or 3 sometimes as well, so even on the LOWEST settings in the games I can't enjoy the games fully... It lags and such because of the low fps ofc...
Other than that it also have a heat issue, mostly when running windows 8.1 in bootcamp.
It get's quite hot, just by opening a browser window, and yes i have tried reseting smc, and p-rams, many times.. nothing seems to help.
And even if it helped the heat problem, the gaming problem is still there.
Now to my specs: (I have the macbook pro retina, mid 2012, 15 inch)
- Prosseser: 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz) with 6MB shared L3 cache. "Core i7" processor (3720QM)
- Memory: 16GB 1600MHz DDR3L onboard memory
- Storage: 256GB ssd flash storage. (Seperated into os x = 130GB, windows 8.1 pro = 120GB) Running games and such from my 1TB external harddisk.
- Graphics and video support:
Intel HD Graphics 4000
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory and automatic graphics switching
Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on up to two external displays, at millions of colors.
And here's a link to see what is inside it for yourself: http://http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/macbook_pro/specs/macbook-pro-core- i7-2.6-15-mid-2012-retina-display-specs.html
When that is said, apple's warranty has run out, and I didn't buy apple care, but I still have warranty from the store (humac) I bought it in, because in my country the law is warranty 2 years, no matter what, but if i can avoid it, I REALLY would like to avoid switching it out with a new one, since there could be problems all over again, and I would lose what I have on it right now, plus it's a hassle to get a new one, they will always try and fix it for a long long time before they give a new one, and probably can't find the problem...
But if that's the only thing i can do about it, I will ofc, but just don't advise me to do that, unless there's no other solution to the problems.
Please help me.
ps: sorry if I posted it the wrong place, I wasn't allowed to post it the right place by apple...If the underlying hardware was exposed correctly by the CSM-BIOS when Windows was installed, your Device Manager should look like this.
If the Windows installer did not see any devices as your screen indicates, Windows will use generic software-based drivers which will be very slow and painful.
Rudegar ... I think the Windows installer did not see any hardware, otherwise there should be HW with yellow triangles with exclamation marks. -
Windows Installation impossible with BOOTCAMP - keep getting BSOD
Hello Community,
I am facing a huge problem. Countless times I have been trying to install Windows 7 64 Bit on my Macbook Pro via Bootcamp now.
I had it working a few months ago, then the Windows installation kept getting blue screens so I decided to remove it and reinstall. But I can't.
The problem is that I keep getting a Bluescreen right after the installation is at the point where there is only a black screen and a grey loading bar, above written: "Windows is loading files."
Right after I get the Bluescreen. I dont even get to see the menue in which i would have to select a hard drive etc.
The Bluescreen says: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA and Error Code: STOP: 0x00000050 or sometimes STOP: 0x0000007E
I browsed the web but couldn't find a similar problem yet.
Solutions including windows repair etc can not work for me as I am not even in the installation menu when this happens.
Can someone help please?
I have a MacBook Pro 13 inch (Mid 2012), OSX 10.9.2, 2,5 GHz Intel Core i5, 16 Gb Ram, Intel HD Graphics 4000, 750 GB HDD (WDC WD7500BPKX) and the APPLE HDD 500 GB as secondary HDD (I use the CD-Slot for the second HDD)No, when I built in the new HDD and took out the cd drive for the apple HDD I used it to format everything and freshly install Mavericks. Right after I did it I installed Win7 without any problems. This was in January, the Bluescreens started in March..

Unable to install Windows 7 via Bootcamp on MBP mid-2012
Posted here from my original, since the old one was basically in the wrong thread. https://discussions.apple.com/message/25097756#25097756
I have a mid-2012 Macbook Pro 13" with the 2.9ghz i7 configuration, 8gb ram, intel HD 4000, Crucial M4 256gb SSD, and the original 750gb hard drive that was included in the computer. I made the SSD my boot disk.
I've been trying to install Windows 7 via bootcamp for a few days now. The first time I tried it I walked away from the computer after it got to the "Copying files" part of the windows 7 installation so I wasn't able to see what went wrong. When I try to start the computer it goes to the blank DOS screen (or terminal, whatever you prefer to call it) with the flashing cursor for text but I cannot enter anything and it just sits there. So I figured something may have gone wrong with the installation and I tried to do it again.
I re-wiped my 8gb flash drive, redownloaded the boot camp support files, and again started the installation with windows 7. The first time I tried it I had to reformat the "BOOTCAMP" partition that it had created on my SSD because it wouldn't write to it as it was not formated in NTFS. I spared 60gb for the Windows boot. So after reformatting I went through with the installation again. Now I get to the screen where it asks me what username, etc. After I finish entering in my credentials it starts to say "preparing desktop" and then I hear a loud CLICK and the entire machine just reboots and takes me back to the blinking cursor. Is this a common problem when trying to install windows? Thanks!Have you modified BC Info.plist? Can you verify that you a valid ISO using Microsoft FCIV tool?
Your Windows 7 USB should have a directory structure similar to the following. -
I dont think ill be using windows for much more than revit and autocad (i use autocad on the mac side, but just in case), but i want to make sure I am not going to have a problem in the future.
I am a grad student in interior design, and have access to a windows computer (if i absolutely need it).
I will be basically just using those two programs, but of course other things will probably eventually get installed also.
Does anyone who uses bootcamp for those programs have any input as to how much space i should set aside, without giving way too much space to Windows? Windows itself seems to take up a lot of space anyway... looks like 24Gigs just for windows! ugh.
I prefer to use the mac side, so id like to keep as much free space on that end of the spectrum as possible, but it seems like a hassle to change the partition, and id like to avoid it if at all possible. (dont want to pay for any re-partitioning programs either. School has bled me dry already.
I have a macbok pro 13-inch (mid 2012).
Thanks everyone, i appreciate any guidance.I have a 1TB drive in my iMac and set aside 160GB for the Win7/64 partition, and I'm not running anything as demanding as CAD programs. I've not used AutoCad personally but the drafters I worked with did, and always got the the fastest computers with the biggest hard drives. A development engineer was always overjoyed to get a computer the drafters cast off!
I'm not sure "too much" is the problem. I'm concerned about too little. I think with a 750GB drive that 200-250 might be more realistic fpr a CAD program. It all depends on how much swap file activity the programs use.
If someone with AutoCad experience doesn't show up here, it may be time to search the AutoDesk web site and forums to see what people consider the smallest HD usable assuming you are off-loading completed projects to external storage.
While on the AC support site or forums, also find out if the Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics in your MBP is considered workable video hardware. It's not as powerful as the hardware in other MBP models and desktop Macs.
RAM: A few months after installing Win7/64 in my iMAc quad-core i7, I found a great buy on RAM and trebled my RAM from 4 to 12GB. I did not see a big difference in the Mac side but noticed better performance on the Win side including better scores on MS's performance scoring system. You may need to add RAM if you have the stock 4GB. -
Bootcamp quits unexpectedly when opened.

You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. -
I have installed Windows 7 before and uninstalled it. I need to reinstall Windows 7 again, but my BootCamp is just giving problems and I need help right away. I have an assignment due on Thurs.

Nvidia quadro 4000 and boot camp monitor issue
Hey Im running a quadro 4000 on my mac pro and I'm having issues in my bootcamp partition running windows 7, were it won't wake up from sleep or screens won't turn on at all, some issues in general with it booting up properly and sometimes screens go black, but computer is still running just black screens... any ideas... from what i see people have been running this with and since the latest drivers people seem to be happy... just can't seem to get much performance out of mine. Even treid installing the drivers as a root user but still having similar issues as before.
From reading on many forums it seems like this should not be happening with the latest drivers now out, Ive put back my old ATI and it works fine so im pretty sure its the card... any suggestions or tips?
thanks
steveYou will have to ask the Suitcase people. I see nothing in there related to the Adobe part of the equation. It's the Suitcase plug-in dragging down everything all the way.

steveSeparate and head to Boot Camp forum for issues with Windows.
There are some threads on Q4000 and CUDA drivers but that is easy enough to resolve by going to Nvidia driver downloads page. I was not aware you ever needed to or would want to anable as root. -
Can some1 help me with my bootcamp...It crashed?
Dear all,

After bootcamp, OSX Lion won't boot.
I tried to create a bootcamp partition on my 2009 8 core Mac Pro. I run the bootcamp utility, it partitions the desired drive (tried partitioning my SSD main drive, and also a spare 7200 rmp internal drive). It partitions, then shuts down. It boots to the windows loader, tells me my bootcamp drive isn't able to install windows. So I reformat the drive (inside the windows loader). Does its thing, and loads windows.
Windows starts, I can play around in it. I use the DVD that was created (has the Apple windows drivers). Once that installs, screen goes blank. I can tell its trying to do something. I have a Quadro 4000 Mac video card, and after cleaning the drive, I work my way to this step again, except I went to Nvidia's website, download and install drivers. Same thing happens. That's issue 1, inside of windows.
The main issue, my Mac Pro will no longer boot to Lion. I hold option, brings up the boot drive option. I choose my Mac OSX drive, then it does nothing. I end up having to erase the drive and reload OSX, and use time machine to put back to normal.
Windows works just fine with parralels, but my intention was to bootcamp, then direct parralels to use the bootcamp for virtual machine.
Every time I've gone to reload the osx, I've reformatted the windows drive, because once I tried installing drivers, I never could get a picture on my monitors. If I clicked the mouse buttons, the pointer would show on occasion, then disappear.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks,
JeffThanks for the fast reply. Ill try this again. Did this the first time, but wouldn't boot again. I've since done a,fresh install of Lion, and it created the proper recovery partition. I didn't have this before, because I cloned my old drive, when I upgraded to an SSD drive. Didn't know about the recover partition. Ill try again, and see if I can get it to work.
Just need to figure out the driver situation, with my Nvidia Quadro Mac video. Not worth trying again, if I have to use default generic video drivers.
