HD AVI import too short

Hi, We use a Digital Rapids HD capture system to capture HD movies on a PC using the 8bit uncompressed AVI format. We tend to capture each movie in at least two parts for keep file size below 500GB. We then use these part 1 and part 2 uncompressed HD avi files for encoding for Blu-ray AVC on a Sonic Cinevision system. We also use these HD avi files in our graphics department to do menu edits, etc, in After Effects CS3, CS4 and Premiere Pro CS3 and CS4. We can import some of these HD avi's fine but a large majority import but only say the file is about 2 mins long, where actually the files are about 45 mins long. This happens fequently and we have tried on many different PC's with different versions of After Effects and Premiere. ANY other programme can open these avi's and play them with the correct length, it only seems that Abode apps have issues with them. I have tried transcoding them to other avi codec formats but still with the same result. The files are 1920x1080 23.976 HD avi files. We capture about 10 HD movies each week and this issue is happening all the time. We have asked Abode about this issue but so far no answers. Any help would be excellent as we are stumped.

Actually AE is probably being over-precise and in addition, your capture method does not seem to generate a proper embedded time-code, or at least one that AE doesn't like. Other tools may simply ignore any embedded info and do the math themselves or be able to read the specific TC format. Have you checked the stuff in Premiere whether there are TC breaks or something? Also, how do you store the files? Maybe they also get truncated due to incorrect file properties, file system limitations, networking limitations or something like that. Hard to tell, but apparently it would be difficult to share your files for investigation, so I recommend you create a bug/ feature request with clear words (just say you want this be forwarded to the AE team asap) and some Aobe person should get in touch.

1.2.1 to EA2: connection list too short

Hi,
clicking on the button located in the main tool bar to chose a db connections provides a list showing all my defined connections is too short depending on the size an solution of the screen. To have the ability to select all of the many defined db connections there should be a vertical slide bar in this list.
This behavior exists in the actual production version and the new EA1 and EA2 as well.
Is that important enough going to get fixed in the current version?

Did you know that you can click on either the little drop black arrow, which drops a list (not scrollable) or you can click just the the left of that. This gives you a small dialog window with a scrollbar. The dialog window is re-sizable (width-wise) and has a scrollbar.
These list will not use folders in 1.5. You can add an ER if you want that.

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTunes and plug (very important)
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note: Data will be lost

Apple Mini DVI to DVI Adapter - Too short?

I want to connect my iMac 2.8 ghz, 24" screen to an external Philips 190B LCD monitor and use the Extended Desktop function.
The Philips Monitor model is the 190B6CG/00 and it is a single link monitor (Philips tell me it is DVI-D Receptacle Connector 24 pin = single link).
I'm looking at the Apple Mini DVI to DVI adapter here on the Apple Store. It looks like it should plug into my iMac one end then the other end into my Philips. However it looks like it is too short to reach my Philips Monitor. They are not a fantastic distance apart. In fact they are sat side by side - but I somehow can't see the Apple Adapter being long enough (unless it crosses a 3-sphere).
Presumably then, some sort of extension is required between the DVI end of the Apple adapter and the Philips Monitor's DVI input.
Does anyone know what this extension could be and where is may be purchased?

I totally agree. I have been thinking along these lines too. However, searching on the internet whilst researching, I found it difficult to decide what I needed because of the 'photos' supplied. They were ok as such but most didn't show very well the pin outs. Further research into the matter (and one website in particular - i.e. Maplin) made me realise that GENDER was involved. Also, with DVI, females look like males in web photos until you find a photo from the right angle. Same goes for VGA I reckon.
I'm certain most people looking at DVI (and VGA) cable/connectors can't tell the difference when the devices are only viewed from 'above' . In my opinion they need to be viewed more or less end-on to show where they have pins or holes. I mean full end-on, not at an angle where (as I found above) detail as to pin or hole is lost in digital or compression noise. This is what I have experienced in all but one of the web sites I have visited. Another thing, most websites have an 'enlarged version' button which, if selected, shows the same photo exactly the same size. No help whatsoever. But then there's no doubt you must already be well aware of this.

You are correct. The Philips did come with a VGA cable. However I want to connect to my iMac digitally (if I can) using DVI (it looks like a 'female' connector on inspection of the back of the Monitor). I have found it almost impossible to tell the difference from most photos on the web even with my new huge screen iMac. One of the reasons I'm am a little nonplussed I think.

Good point. If I take a photo of the back of my Philips and take the Apple connector down to Maplin perhaps I can compare and contrast with real specimens. Yo!!

DVI to VGA adapter. Too short?

Please do not blame me for being ignorant, I recently had to do a project and in order to connect to the screen, I need to use a DVI to VGA adapter, which is provided when I bought my MBP.
But then, isnt it too short? How do I connect it then? Must I buy a extension? Do help me as my project is due next friday and I must present next friday. Thank you.

If it has holes that pins should be stuck into, then http://www.microcenter.com/singleproduct_results.phtml?productid=0201735 is a male-to-male. Make sure you double check the photos against your adapter and your TV before you buy. Also try your local electronics or computer store.

You are going to need to change the email address you use with your old ID. Once you have got access to your old account you will then log into both accounts at the same time on your Mac and transfer your data to a single account. We can do this later, but need you to get access to your old account first.

Ok, I have looked just about everywhere for an answer to this but to no avail...I even tried under a few rocks we have laying around.
Anyway here it is:
While running a compression in BW we get Error "602" System error: AK Datapart too short.
This is happening while doing a select statement during the compression of the infocube. It does not happen all the time, just kind like when ever it feels like. The only note I could find in OSS was one about Live Cache and it does not seem to apply.
Here is the dump which I really hate doing this, but it gives all the info needed :

This error usually occurs when there is a database lock or no space in teh database. Got DB02 and Click on Space critical objects to see whether any entries are there. If yes contact your basis to increase the space.

Vendor email-address in SUS too short

Hello guys,
following problem:
When I send the PO from MM to SUS (SRM 5.0 on Server 5.5)
the email adress of the vendor is cut in the middle in SUS.
The Idoc of the ECC is fine, it seems that the problem
could be found in the Mapping of the XI or in SUS.
Is the field in SUS too short?
What can I do?

Get a copy of MPEG Streamclip and convert your MPG file to QuickTime/Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC). In FCE, select one of the setups that uses AIC that best matches your clip (say, 1920x1080i60). Create a new sequence, then import the converted file.
Note that if your MPG file is actually MPEG2 you will also need the QuickTime MPEG2 Component in addition to MPEG Streamclip.
What was the source of the MPG file? How about if you open it in QuickTime, then do Window > Show Movie Inspector. Tell us what it says for codec/compression, frame size & frame rate.

Is LED display video cord too short to use with Mac Pro?

I've seen the new 24-in cinema display used with a macbook and noted how short the cord is. Now I'm thinking of getting the new Mac Pro with that same display but won't the cord be too short for me to set the tower near the floor on the side of my desk? I don't want to have to set that tower ON my desktop just so the connector will reach the minidisplay port.
Any thoughts?

I have exactly this set up, and it (just) works for me.
The cable is about 42" from the back of the monitor to the three connectors at the other end, which allows me to have the Mac Pro on the floor, and the monitor on my desk. Obviously, it will depend on your desk height, cable access, etc., but it was a bit of tight fit, so you might want to get out a tape measure and see it will work for you.
