HD Component to Firewire Box???

I'm looking for a box that will input component video and export it to firewire so I can get it on my mac. Any suggestions?

AJA will ship next month sometime I believe... I was the demo artist for this box at NAB this year... it's incredible... we showed it capturing HD thru a MacBook Pro to a eSATA G-Raid... two drive setup. I'll bet though it will also capture ProRes HQ or or ProRes to a single eSATA.. it's output is ProRes, DVCPROHD, and all versions of SD. Uncompressed even... pretty neat box, and it's portable. That makes it useful on set with direct captures from cameras. has external TC input too, so media files will match Timecode on the tape.
Right now this box is the only box in the world that transcodes, up and down converts all forms of video, and puts out native ProRes, and ProRes HQ... it's likely to stay that way for a while too.
Shane's suggestion may be good too, dunno much about the box other than what's online. doesn't do ProRes though... that's a big deal IMHO.

  • How to move CRM_UI_FRAME component from one box to another box

    Hi All,
    Need help about this task.
    Background:
    - CRM Dev Box
    - CRM QC Box
    - CRM Prod Box
    Problem:
    - CRM_UI_FRAME component on the QC Box is not working properly. When we are going to the BSP Workbench, an error comes out that there is an unclosed tag; '>' or '/>' expected entity: "<<document>>" Offset : 0000003376 Error Severity: error.
    - BSPWD_BASICS/WorkAreaHostViewSet is not loaded
    - This problem never occurs on both Dev and Prod Box
    Our Solution:
    - To copy the whole CRM_UI_FRAME component from Dev to QC
    Our Question
    - Is the solution possible?
    - If it is, how could we transfer/copy the whole CRM_UI_FRAME or any component from one box to another box
    - Could we just attach this to a transport? Or is this a BASIS task?
    - Other suggestions on how to do this?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Replaced CD with DVD in firewire box - problems.

    Heres an odd one.
    I had a trusty old Lacie 1394 CDRW drive, essentially a CD drive in a firewire connecting box. It became less trusty and gave up so I replaced the drive in the Firewire box with an LG DVDRW drive.
    I can burn and read CD's from finder and iTunes but tried to play a DVD and got "A valid DVD drive could not be found (-70012)" from DVD player. I can look at the files on the DVD in Finder. However the system profiler still sees the firewire dvice as a Lacie 1394.
    I presume the Lacie device box has some way of making sure it has an identity. Has anybody had such a problem and found a fix.
    Ta Colin

    You may wish to read over the site below for Patchburn. When SP gives you lame information that is because device profiles are generally missing. Anyway it is well worth a try.

  • Increasing row capacity of any excelcius component (Filter ,Combo Box)

    Hi
    Even though I have increased the capacity of Dashboard rows capacity from 512 to 2000.
    But my filter component or combo box component source data is mapped to more than 512 rows in the spreadsheet,while previewing it still shows data of 512 rows.
    Is there any way to increase component capability?
    I know the performance will be bad but still atleast it should capture the whole source data records and

    It could be two reasons
      First Reason: it could be due to the limit of no of rows in excel .Please check the preferences option in Xcelsius . By default it will be set as 512 rows of data increase that to required rows.
       Second Reason: if you are using live office in Xcelsius.By default it will fetch 512 rows of data.To increase limit we have to do some server side settings.Please refer to the following SAP Note which gives the solution to this problem.
      SAP Note:1307538
      or go through the following steps:
    These changes have to be made on the server side
    1.     Create a backup of dsws-liveoffice-provider.jar from serveru2019s InstallDrive:\program files\business objects\Tomcat\webapps\dswsbobje\WEB-INF\lib for future reference.
    2.     Copy dsws-liveoffice-provider.jar from serveru2019s InstallDrive:\program files\business objects\Tomcat\webapps\dswsbobje\WEB-INF\lib to your computer.
    3.     Rename the file just copied to dsws-liveoffice-provider.jar.zip (add.zip to end of filename)
    4.     Create folder in root of InstallDrive: named META-INF (case sensitive), in InstallDrive:\META-INF named BusinessObjects (case sensitive) and in InstallDrive:\META-INF\BusinessObjects named DSWS (case sensitive)
    5.     Using WinZip or WinRAR, unzip the file named liveoffice_config.properties from the dsws-liveoffice-ws.jar.zip file copied from the server. Place this file in InstallDrive:\META-INF\BusinessObjects\DSWS.
    6.     Edit the liveoffice_config.properties file and find the following section:
    #max number of range rows and range columns to return
    maxRowCount=512
    maxColumnCount=512
    7.     Edit the maxRowCount entry to the value youu2019d like to use
    8.     Save the file as liveoffice_config.properties (same filename)
    9.     Using winRAR or WinZip add the new liveoffice_config.properties file back to dsws-liveoffice-ws.jar.zip, making sure to use the "use absolute path" option.
    10.     Stop Apache Tomcat service on BO server
    11.     Copy dsws-liveoffice-ws.jar.zip to serveru2019s InstallDrive:\program files\business objects\Tomcat\webapps\dswsbobje\WEB-INF\lib.
    12.     Rename dsws-liveoffice-provider.jar in serveru2019s InstallDrive:\program files\business objects\Tomcat\webapps\dswsbobje\WEB-INF\lib directory to dsws-liveoffice-provider.jar.old.
    13.     Rename dsws-liveoffice-provider.jar.zip in serveru2019s c:\program files\business objects\Tomcat\webapps\dswsbobje\WEB-INF\lib directory to dsws-liveoffice-provider.jar
    14.      Empty the Tomcat cache by deleting the content of the folder <<C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\work>>
    15.     Restart Apache Tomcat on server
    This should increase the number of rows fetched by LiveOffice, however it may happen that changing the number of rows in the liveoffice_config.properties many times may result in liveoffice picking the data from the cache. Hence deleting the cache (C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\work) is necessary. Incase deleting the cache also doesn't work, we may have to redeploy the dswsbobje folder.
    To redeploy, follow the steps given below:
    1.     Go to C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Tomcat55\webapps and keep a backup of the dswsbobje folder.
    2.     Now delete this folder and restart Tomcat.
    3.     Restarting Tomcat will recreate the dswsbobje folder but will again default the number of rows fetched by LiveOffice to 512.
    4.     We will again have to follow the steps mentioned in the start to increase the number of rows from 512 to the desired value.
    5.     Restart Tomcat again for the changes to take place.
    Note: Increasing the number to large values might cause inconsistency in the behavior or instability.

  • External Firewire box for PATA and/or SATA I - SATA II HDDs

    Hi all,
    I'm looking for a weird thing, and I don't know whether it exists or not.
    I've got a bunch of PATA HDDs now on shelf, and I'm wondering how to use them as external backup.
    I googled to find a Firewire box for 4 or 5 PATA and/or SATA I - SATA II HDDs, I didn't find anything, do you know about something similar ?
    Thanks,
    Peloche,
    MacPro 2.66, 6GB, 1TB; Mini G4, 1.45, 1GB; iPod 60 GB; 30" & 20" ACD; Apple IIC   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   X1900XT

    Briefly,
    This item Stardom SOHOBANK U6-4S-S2 Backplane cost :
    220 euros +
    20 euros transport +
    10 euros eSATA cable +
    100 euros PCIe eSATA card =
    Roughly 350 euros and I have to supply HDDs.
    I investigate about my existing HDDs stock :
    1 x 250 Go +
    2 x 120 Go +
    1 x 80 Go =
    570 Go and the enclosure is full.
    I've had a look at French Apple Store they have a MiniMax 640 Go Iomega + hub FireWire / USB integrated for 399 euros (not available on US Apple Store).
    They have also Iomega 320 Go USB 2.2 for 149 euros.
    But I'm concerned about the next future, that means tomorrow, when Leopard starts to hunt beginning of 2007, a nice feature called "Time Machine" will be available.
    This real time backup (if I understood well this feature) will oblige the backup disk to be "on" permanently, that is to say more permanent noise if backup storage is external.
    I've had a look at my existing Mac Pro configuration, I've got:
    Bay 1 : free
    Bay 2 : 1 x 300 Go SATA II
    Bay 3 : 1 x 250 Go SATA II
    Bay 4 : 1 x 250 Go SATA II
    Port 6 : 1 x 150 Go SATA I (Motherboard)
    I'm considering buying a 500 Go Maxtor pro line for Bay 1 for backup purpose only, what do you think ?
    Thanks,

  • Component to Firewire

    I am looking for a device that converts Component video and RCA audio to Firewire, so that a movie can be imported into iMovie. I am currently using a Canopus ADVC110 for S-Video but have an HD source with component video and would like to be able to get it into iMovie. Does anyone know of a product that can do this?
    Thank you

    I have spent hours attempting to solve the same issue - in fact the same issue as I have my son's hockey on a DVR recording from a HDTV broadcast.
    What was most frustrating is on my Motorola DVR there are USB and 2 firewire outputs, which one can use to transfer download to an HD camcorder, which I attempted in this case. Unfortunately, it was only have screwing around for hours unsuccessfully did I find out from my cable provider (also the DVR retailer) that the USB and firewire outputs are disabled on the units they issue.
    I have been unable to source anything to address the issue. Looks like an answer is on the way from Hauppauge with their proposed HD PVR, scheduled for delivery May 1 (???). No price info, but suspect it will not be cheap.

  • Shuttle component with 3 boxes to select items

    Hi,
    I've a requirement to select the items from already selected list of items. Is there any component available to achieve this requirement?
    My requirement is 'Assume 3 boxes (similar to the shuttle component boxes) Left box has Item1 to Item6, user can select some items from left box to the middle box  and user can select the items from middle box to the right box'. SelectManyShuttle allows only selection between 2 boxes.' Can we achieve this requirement with selectManyShuttle component?
    Thank you.

    Hi --CELKO—,
    Thanks for your trying, but SSMS said incorrect syntax near Except keyword.
    And yes, I really didn’t read some book or take a class on RDBMS whatever that is. I work in small biz firm of only 10 men and in spite the fact that I’m only IT person there, my work is hardly limited only on IT. I have to do bunch of
    things firstly in order to make the firm function, and only at the end, if I find some time and strength left, I do something interesting. That’s why my projects move so slowly, even though I rarely spend less than 10 hours at work.
    It might be my poor English, but your choice of words suggests that you’re somehow irritated with my knowledge deficiency. Don’t get me wrong, I cannot afford the luxury of being ashamed about it. I have to ask questions in order to accomplish
    what I have to as soon as I can. But at the very top of my question you could see that I announced a beginner question (not the first one), so if you find that kind of questions annoying, just skip them and save yourself from diabetes. It’s the best piece
    of advice I can give to anyone.

  • FireWire out to HD

    I'm editing on my PowerBook (soon on my MacBook Pro) and I will be needing a way to monitor out to HD. In SD, I just use a cheap little camera to act as a pass-thru to my Broadcast monitor. Now that I have the HVX200, it doesn't allow FireWire pass through to HD. Hum, what to do?
    I've seen many items for Mac towers, but what are you guys/gals using to monitor from PowerBooks?
    Also, please enlighten my small brain on this one: why SDI over Component? My HD field monitor has component, so that would be desirable (FW to Component). Is SDI so much better? Why?

    #1. The only way you are going to be able to view DVCPRO HD via firewire are a) thru a DVCPRO HD deck, the AJ-HD1200 or b) DVI out of the Macbook, thru a DVI>component/SDI converter box (AJA HDP or Decklink HD Link) to an HD monitor. But not sure about that second one. That is just off the top of my head. The DVI out will allow you to span your desktop, then you can use Digital Cinema Preview to full screen to the DVI out...but DCP doesn't give you full quality, so....hmmm...close but not it.
    Laptops are good for offlining HD, but not for finishing. For that you need an HD capture card, HD monitor and access to high speed drives...at lease FW800. The MacBook doesn't have FW800 connections, nor is there a card for them yet. Plus it can't access a SATA Raid. And now it cannot output a true HD signal to color correct. So I don't think a MacBook Pro is a viable option for cutting HD from start to finish. I don't think any laptop is up to the task really. HD is FAR more intensive than DV.

  • Firewire DV output disconnects when I pop over to other programs

    I am brand new to the Mac and brand new to Final Cut Studio, just bought both of them this month. I do After Effects animation and edit the animations with clients in the room, I've been using Premiere on a Windows laptop for years, and I've been told my workflow would benefit if I tried working on a Mac. Now that I'm on a MacBook Pro with Final Cut I've run into an issue.
    Final Cut Pro 5.1.3 seems to be working fine, I'm editing DV video on my 2.33ghz Core2duo 15" MacBook Pro through Firewire to an ADVC DAC-100 analog/digital converter box, out S-Video to a 32" TV for the clients. However, once I pop over to another program, say Photoshop, After Effects, or the Finder, Final Cut's firewire connection is lost, and the TV turns purple, the default DAC-100 behavior when there is no firewire input. (It turns blue when I use my Canon ZR40 instead of the DAC-100.) Once I pop back over to Final Cut Pro, the firewire connection is re-established and my animations are back on the TV. I use several programs in conjunction with the video editor, and I need the firewire connection to remain on so the TV doesn't turn purple every time I jump back into After Effects, Photoshop, etc.
    Final Cut Studio comes with 90 days support, so I called and Apple phone support told me that the way I have things set up is very uncommon and not supported. DV footage out to a Firewire device is not supported? Are you kidding me? The local Apple Store has several Geniuses with Final Cut Pro experience, they told me that the fact that FCP loses firewire connection when I change programs is "pretty much the nature of the beast". They recommended I use a DVI connector to output to S-Video out to the TV, but I'm already using my laptop's DVI to output to my 21 inch monitor, and I will NOT work from my 15" laptop display (or a 17" laptop display for that matter).
    I called phone support again and they told me that if I had a Mac Pro I would have more options, but with a laptop my "special workflow" is not very well supported, unless I stay in Final Cut Pro and not switch programs over to Photoshop or anything else.
    Here is why I feel like I am in the twilight zone: Premiere 6.5 in Windows automatically keeps firewire connection when I pop over to After Effects. Premiere Pro 2.0's default behavior is to lose firewire connection when switching to another program, but I simply unchecked the "Disable video output when Premiere Pro is in the background" checkbox to keep the connection when switching programs. Premiere has been able to do this for years, I have a VERY hard time believing that Final Cut Pro, which is regarded as the BEST video editing program, cannot maintain firewire output unless it is the "in focus" application. I have been through all the preferences, I can't find anything to alter this behavior.
    If I cannot solve this problem with Final Cut Pro, I will need to find a DV/analog firewire box that defaults to BLACK instead of purple when firewire gets disconnected. Please let me know if anyone can tell me the solution to this, I have a VERY hard time believing that editing video on a MacBook Pro while monitoring on a TV through firewire is only supported if I don't pop over to any other programs.
    Thanks in advance for the help, I am already $5,000 into this experiment of trying to do my animation work on a Mac and I will not be happy if I can't get things to work.

    You're not losing firewire control when you switch over, you are losing the video playback. Even if you were viewing your canvas on your desktop you would still go back to a ragular screen when you switch apps. You would probably have to monkey with your external monitor to adjust how it responds to a lack of signal.

  • Center the component without resize in JPanel

    Hi, I have a JPanel in a JFrame. I put in this JPanel objects that extends from a JPanel. It works all ok, but I want to center the components that I include. I use the BorderLayout.CENTER , but the components automaticly have resize it and this is verry bad.
    How can I make the center position of the components witchout to resize it?
    Thanks verry much!
    Nikolay

    BoxLayout is good. We use that almost exclusively for our GUI layouts.
    To centre both horizontally and vertically you can do this:panel.setLayout(new BoxLayout(panel, BoxLayout.Y_AXIS);
    panel.add(Box.createGlue());
    panel.add(component);
    panel.add(Box.createGlue());Regards,

  • Firewire removable drive eject problem

    Hi
    I have one of those intermittent failures which is driving me crazy. I've got a Granite Digital removable FW-800 drive hooked up to my Quad (10.4.7). Also have a SATA removable drive bay. Most of the time, external drives work just great, and there's no problem.
    However... often enough to make me ask it here, I'll eject the drive, via drag to the trash in the dock, or via contextual menu "eject" and, after a bit longer pause than usual, the icon will disappear from the finder's desktop. Everything looks good, but...
    ... when I go to turn off the drive, or remove it, I get an "improperly put away...may damage drive" message.
    And then... it's totally impossible to restart or shut down the machine. A power off is needed.
    Leaving aside comments on how long the software should be looking for an obviously missing drive before simply giving up (hint: infinity is too long) there's this.
    What's happening? (don't say that something is open on the drive... nothing is) and two, is there something I can do once I get this message to prevent the infinite look? Terminal command? Anything?
    OK: one more thing - am I the only person this happens to?
    TIA
    Tracy
    ex-programmer and Mac user since 1984...

    Gleaned from a string of several painful experiences...
    When "OFF" isn't really "off."
    When it's a switch on the back of some, and certainly firewire boxes fall into the "some" category, peripheral boxes. I spent I don't know how many hours chasing this down because I forgot something I'd learned a few years ago: it's OK to switch off the power to an external firewire box using the switch on the back of the box, but it's NOT OK to switch it off by turning off (unplugging) the "brick" or using a master controller that turns off the AC power.
    Why? Because "off" isn't really "off"... keeping the "brick" alive keeps the system informed about the firewire device's presence; turn it off "at the wall" and you're going to seriously confuse the system. In my system, it would work this way: if I left the box switch in the "on" position, then when I turned on the wall power, the hard drive would show up on my desktop.
    Now, I was always religious about ejecting the drive before I powered down, but my mistake was powering down "at the wall" instead of using the switch on the back of the box. I figured I'd save the power drained by the brick when I wasn't using the drive.
    Bad mistake. About 50% of the time, when I'd eject the -next- drive I mounted externally, I'd get a message saying "improper device removal"... and my system would -seriously- choak up. Nothing would run; nothing would quit and I'd be faced with a forced hard power-off of my whole system.
    Once I recalled what the heck I was doing wrong, and reverted to "once powered on, leave it on" the problems went away.
    The problem seems to affect external SATA drives as well (although I'm not as positive of that as I am of the firewire issue.) So: leave the boxes plugged into the wall, and only use the switches on the back to turn them on and off. If the wall-wart bricks are eating up extra power, I'm afraid that's the price you pay for the modern age.

  • Running into problems zooming in on a component made in Flash

    I created a component in flash CS3 and am trying to put some

    Hi,
    In the project our team work on, we are in a similar
    situation where a Flash piece scales according to the size of Flex
    components surrounding it. The first thing is to place the Flash
    component in a Box (a workaround for the bug where components do
    not accept percentage sizing as a box always scales to fit the size
    of its content). Then place the Box in a Canvas.

    height="{ this.gameContainerCanvas.width * ASPECT_RATIO
    }">
    </local>
    </mx:Box>
    </Canvas>
    Now, if you dynamically change the width and height of your
    canvas (e.g by binding to the value of an <mx:Slider), the Flash
    component will scale.
