HD compression profiles keep switching to variable (VBR) from CBR

Trying to encode an HD file with CBR (Constant Bit Rate) using Compressor, but somehow the profile keeps switching back to VBR (Variable Bit Rate).
Is there any way to accomplish this with Compressor or do I need other software for this?

You can edit and produce HD footage just fine on your machine -- I thought you were only having trouble playing back the final result. There will be jerky playback when you're previewing the timeline, and some exports might take longer, but there is nothing preventing you from editing the full result on the hardware you have now. You just have to have realistic expectations on how smoothly the editing and previewing will go. Your hardware is perfectly capable of producing a broadcast-quality H.264 output file. You just can't play it smoothly on that machine, is all.
As for your next machine, Adobe lists minimum and recommended hardware requirements on their website for all their products.

My computer keeps switching its internet setting from Airport to Ethernet without me doing anything. How can I fix this??

My computer keeps switching its internet type from "Airport" to "Ethernet." As my computer is not connected to an Ethernet cable, the ethernet does not work, and so I lose internet connection every time it does this. And it does this two or three times a minute (no exaggeration). This means that, by the time I've changed the setting and refreshed my page, the internet type has changed again, and I'm back to square one.
So far, I've tried the following:
-Reordering the list of priorities on the "Network Preferences" page
-Going to the Ethernet "advanced" options and switching everything to either "off" or from "automatically" to "manually"
-Rendering the Ethernet inactive
-Finally, I created a new location with only airport on
Usually, doing these things makes the problem go away for a day or two, and then it just comes back again.
It's not a problem with the internet itself, as this has been an ongoing issue for the past few months, and I've switched locations three times since then.
Does anyone know how to make my computer stay on Airport, and NOT switch to the Ethernet setting all the time?

The cursor keeps switching back and forth from arrow to arrow and hourglass. Why and how to fix it?

This is an occurrence that has just started and in the past it was my understanding that when the arrow and hourglass were being displayed together it indicated there was some activity in the computer, but of late it will switch from the pointing arrow to small arrow & hourglass when I am not touching anything or when writing a letter or something else it will switch without me doing anything to indicate that I am ready for it to do anything.

Try running a full virus scan. Maybe you have a virus/spyware/adware running in the background. You can hit Ctrl+Alt+Del and click on task manager and see what is running in the background as programs and processes. Click the button that says show all processes from all users.

This happens to me too; sometimes the name will disappear from recent calls - only the phone number will be listed, and the contact completly disappears from my contacts. They always re-appear eventually, sometimes after hours. Or if I try to re-add them from my recent calls, they will sometimes reappear while I'm in the middle of adding the contact again. It is very inconvenient though to be looking for a contact you know you added and it is not in your contacts list. I know people will ask and no, no, I do not have a specific group selected.
Any ideas appreciated.

Multiple desktops keep switching order

I use multiple desktops (not sure what the feature is called anymore) in 10.8.2. I have about 4 of them, and for some reason, #2 and #3 keep switching places! any ideas why? I just have different browsers, a finder window, (simple stuff) in each one. no full screen stuff, nothing fancy. ARRG!

They are automatically ordered by usage. You can disable that in the Mission Control prefs.

I am on an Ipad2 and I have the same problem. I first noticed it about a month ago. I put my Ipad to sleep, close the cover and then some time later out of the blue it just starts playing music from my music library. I have to keep my earphone plugged in because I have my Ipad at work with me during the day and it is very embarrassing when this happens.

i was having some different issues after the upgrade - my phone wouldn't stay on the 3g network and I couldn't make/receive calls or sms or access the internet via 3G. I tried a regular recovery, which didn't work, but just did a DFU restore. apparently it's a different type of restore... anyway it worked so far.

They probably used what is refered to as a DFU restore. To do this yourself you must plug the phone into the computer while on. Hold the sleep button for 3s, then hold both the home and the sleep button for 10s, then release the sleep button and hold only the home button untill the phone apears in itunes as a device in recovery mode. If done correctly the iPhone display will remain off once the device has connected. Proceed to restore.

Iphone 5 keeps switching to silent on its own

My Iphone 5 is stuck on silent mode, or more accurately it keeps switching to silent on its own.
The problem started about 2 days ago, after upgrading to iOS 7.1 last week. The phone keeps switching in and out of silent mode (without the button being touched) and mostly stays in silent. It's not a speaker problem, nor a settings problem, as I’ve checked every bit of online advice I could find. I tried restarting, resetting, restoring, cleaning the headphone jack, and nothing helps.
An attempt to see if it’s a headphone related issue (by plugging and unplugging while restarting in various combinations) got it working fine for about 5 minutes, then it switched back to silent.
Needless to say, the phone did not suffer from any physical damage prior to the problem.

I have the identical problem, and it started when I upgraded as well.
Trips to the AT&T store, and to Apple twice have not been able to solve. (Other than telling me for $300 they would replace it since my phone is 6 months past the 1 year warranty) All the resetting, wiping, even restoring to factory defaults using iTunes from the computer have failed. I finally had a tech open it and look at it, and it's pristine.
I've suspected software since the problem started occurring, because it is so random, and the fact that the speaker, mic, headphone, etc... all work fine.
Just while it's sitting on the desk, it will jump back and forth from silent to ring mode, but mostly stays in silent.
I'm convinced this is a bug

Okay, I apologize, belay my last posting :/
This evening after a whole day of working fine (again), I had the same problem, but this time my idea couldn't fix it. One point I'd like to make is to NOT listen to your ears when troubshooting your ipod. When your ipod is turning off, try tuning into the radio. Mine tells me that it isn't recognizing my earbuds and won't even turn on the radio. I'm going to try to clean the connection out, but really? This is freakin' new, Apple people! Maybe its a way for the company to make you purchase new accessories for the ipod they replaced with the recall :/
