HD extras/Films won't play

Recently purchased two films on my iPad; Fury and Zero Dark Thirty. They perform as they should on the iPad, however upon connecting the iPad to my MBP and transferring the content I find that while I can load the extra menus, neither the films themselves nor any extra content will play. I deleted both films from my MBP and downloaded them directly from iTunes onto the computer without involving the iPad with the same result. No parental filters, no lockouts and my internet connection is stable.

Have you tried playing the video using VLC? I've always found this alternative player to be a good option, especially with regards to providing specific information on video and audio formats from the drop-down menu.
Otherwise, once you launch the video in QT, go Window>show movie properties. What format is displayed in the video track window?
Certainly your machine should be able to handle the weight of the video, and the white screen at least pulling up tells me you are missing a video codec, which is your idea as well - the question is, which one...
I doubt you are looking at video from MPEG-2HD, but it is possible as you mentioned "footage."

Hello, my laptop recently died. Fortunately, I had just backed up my iTunes library to an external hard drive and transfered most everything to a Windows XP laptop. Then I transferred my new purchases from my iPhone 4 to the same newer laptop. It worked almost perfectly - the songs play and the iTunes Extra for the one movie that I had to transfer play but the actual movie itself won't play. When I click on the 'play movie' button, nothing happens. Any thoughts on this?

When you say you "authorized the computer", you are talking about setting up iTunes to play your purchased content, right?

If the rented movie was an HD movie, then you may need to confirm that your computer has all the necessary requirements to play HD content by referencing this article:

Rented film won't play on iPad?

I have rented 3 films and when I go to watch them it tells me 'could not load video'. Never had this problem before.
Any suggestions? There is no 'tap to retry' facility. But it appears the videos just haven't downloaded properly.
I didn't have this problem befor upgrading to the new 7.0.4 operating system.

I have downloaded a film that appears in my iTunes library, but it won't play. What can I do?

I have downloaded a film into my iTunes library which appears but it won't play. Essentially, when I click to start the film I just get a black movie screen with the control console, but no film. What can I do as I don't want to delete it and download it again at additional cost?

I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the item that is not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the item, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" link next to the item.

The movie is from iTunes. You would think that a download from iTunes to a MacBook could be watched on an HDTV using Apple TV without any headaches bit this does not appear to be the case.

Try a reset: hold down the home button along with the sleep/wake button until the screen goes black and you see the Apple, then let go. (No data loss)

ah this is a simple fix. open itunes go to store on the top menu bar and click store. scroll down and click
"Authorize this computer" fill in the info requested and there u have it.

Several movies I purchased won't play on Apple TV. They don't show up on my Apple TV menu, and if I search for them, the "Purchase HD movie" tab shows up. When I try to re-purchase, states "Already Purchased- would you like to view now". I answer "YES" and I'm taken to a screen without a "Play" tab. Other tabs such as "Extras" are frozen and don't work. Unable to see the movie or any of the iTunes extras.

Why won't my itunes extras work on my Macbook? I have 6 that won't play the movie itself, but I can select and view the extras?

my extras did not work either trying to play on my Mac mini connected to an old 17" Samsung monitor but I found a work around. I trying to play the extras through quicktime it said to play it on a different screen that can play protected videos. So I started an iTunes extra and air played it to my apple tv which is connected to my samsung tv and it played! so I'm guessing maybe it's related to the type of screen used. hope this helps. If so spread the word!

If you cannot find the file on your hard drive then once you delete the current broken entry you should be able to redownload from iTunes in the Cloud. This assumes the item in question qualifies. Note that audiobooks, digital booklets, iTunes LPs & Extras, ringtones, selected movies etc. don't.
If prompted don't hide the item. You may find that you need to close and then reopen iTunes before it will appear for download.

Video won't Play

For some reason my footage in FCP 6 won't play properly. I am using the new 24inch imac. I am editing a full feature film. I made a first cut of the film in one sequence that came out to about an hour long, and named it First Cut. I played the one hour sequence and had no problems with it. It didn't even seem to be dropping any frames. Last Sunday I captured some additional footage in a bin that I named October 4th. The new footage was running fine from the bin. I even made two new short sequences from that footage and kept it stored in the October 4th Bin later intending to cut it into the Master First Cut sequence (haven't done that yet though). Then yesterday when I opened up final cut pro, I noticed that all of the footage in the October 4th bin was reported as media offline. This was very strange cause I never moved any of the files around, and I searched my entire hard drive and it was nonexistant (not a big problem cause I could recapture it). I opened up some older bins to check that the rest of my footage was still intact and running, which it was. I then opened up the First Cut Sequence, hit play, and noticed that even though the scroll bar was rolling, there was no audio or video. I then went to check other older footage and noticed that no files at all from any project would play in the viewer or canvas. Scroll bar would move, but no sound or video. So I closed all projects and restarted final cut, and all of the old footage was running perfectly again. But then when I opened up the First cut sequence and hit play, I noticed that this file was playing without video or audio again, and this time it was also reporting that it was dropping frames. I then went to open up other projects to check on them, and again every other project in final cut wouldn't display video or audio even though the scroll bar was rolling. Basically every time I close all of the projects and restart final cut, everything works fine. But as soon as I open up First Cut and try to play it, every file in all bins or projects stops working properly. This problem started the same time that I found that the October 4th files went offline and disapeared nowhere to be found. I tried trashing the preferences, but it didn't solve the problem. I am wondering if I should reinstall final cut. But if the problem is some corrupted file either from the offline October 4th files or the First Cut sequence, then I am worried that the problem might arise again after the installation. Or is it possible that the First Cut sequence was so big that every time I open it is is confusing the entire program (even though this sequence had no problems in the past and those October 4th went offline for no logical reason).
Sorry for the awfully long message. If anyone has got any ideas or has had a similar experience I would really appreciate the feedback.

video's with JWPlayer start loading but won't play and stay black with a rolling wheel. The player is shown and even full screen can be activated.
There is no message for a missing plug-in.

Do you see an error message about this in the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer;Command+Shift+K)?
Is there a shield or other extra icon on the left end of the location bar indicating that content is blocked?
