HD Freezes right before Transitions

hello,
I am editing 1280x720 HD.mov files and it seems right at end and beginning of transitions{cuts, dissolves, anything} the footage freezes for a half a second. It is crazy and very frustrating! I am editing on a FCP Studio2 ,MBP w/4 gigs ram. The sequence settings seem correct yet what is causing this? I am really new at HD editing and never had this problem w/SD. Is it the .mov files or is there a thing I need to correct?

Click on one of the media files. Hit Apple-I. Under MORE INFO, it will tell you the codec. If it is really MPEG 4, like the .mp4 suggests, well then you are trying to edit footage that has been compressed into a web delivery codec...not well suited for editing. Because of this, issues may arise, like you are experiencing. You should be working with a codec that FCP supports as an editing codec...everything in the EASY SETUPS are editing codecs. for 1280x720, DVCPRO HD would be a choice codec....although that format is 960x720 anamorphic, not actual 1280x720.
How were these files produced?

Freezing right before end of sync

When I sync my iPod the beginning of it is just fine. However, once i get to the end, it freezes and gives me an error message. Then, when I go to sync again, my iPod starts 'crackling' from the inside. The only way to make it stop is to uninstall iTunes from my computer. After that I install iTunes again and try it, but the same thing happens. Anyone know whats going on?

Have you tried resetting the iSync history in iSync prefs?
Or syncing just contacts, or just calendars, to see if one will allow a full sync.
Or syncing just a small group of contacts.
There may be some corrupted data in either Address Book or iCal that is tripping iSync up.

Video darkens before transitions.

Video darkens for about a second right before transitions. It looks great in the Canvas and Timeline, but after I export it (Export>QuickTime Movie...), it gets dark.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Actually, it was the FCE project. Transitions and everything. When I exported it from FCP, it showed the same problem.
I captured the same video directly from the camera with FCE and it also had the same issue.
Now, here's the good news. I went ahead and exported the project with the "Using QuickTime Conversion" option (File->Export->Using QuickTime Conversion...). In the QT options, I selected AIC compression and the darkening went away! Then, I re-compressed that file for my final delivery and that was it. It worked great! The video quality and the file size are the same as with the "Using QT" option. Problem solved.

HT1583 When burning a DVD of photos and music from iDVD, the photos blur right before the transitions and the music has about 5 second glitches here and there before the music starts again. Is there any way to burn the DVD without this happening?

Each year I am in charge of making a slideshow of photos and music for my annual company meeting. I always use iDVD to set up my photos and music and then burn the DVD to play at the meeting. Every time I burn the DVD, it blurs right before the transition of the photo. It has always done this and I'm not sure why. It will also make the music glitch in a few spots for about 5 seconds or more. If I burn another DVD to try it again, the glitches will still be there, but in different spots. I've tried the highest quality of DVD's possible and this still happens. What can I do to fix this problem?

Try disabling transitions altogether!
There is a technical reason that this breakup happens - it is to do with how slideshows can be saved within the DVD specification, they can either be recorded as 'video streams' or as a collection of 'still images'.
When you add transitions iDVD has no option but to use a video stream, this can result in terrible 'breakup' because the mpeg 2 encoder isn't designed to handle scenes that are static with a sudden short change. You can see 'artefacts' in the video stream…

'Still image slideshows' avoid the issue altogether by only showing a static image, no video compression is used & because the scene doesn't transition so it shouldn't breakup.
NOTE: Music on the slideshow is irrelevant, both types can use a soundtrack.
I cannot remember if it is possible to force iDVD to only make still image slideshows, I always use DVD Studio Pro to correctly setup DVD's. I'd suggest you use the option to save the DVD to a disk image & then open that disk image so that DVD Player can preview it, that should save on the number of test disks you burn.
If you cannot make it avoid using video streams you may be ether off making your own video slideshow in iMovie & then import that into iDVD. It may eventually look better despite being a video stream!
iDVD isn't really condusive to professional levels of control.

My computer freezes right after startup

My MacBook Pro 13 inch is always freezing right after logging in. And it has the spinning ball and just freezes there and I can not do anything but to wait but nothing happens. I am writing this on a iPad because my Mac is not working. I really need help! MacBook Pro 13 inch OSX 10.8.4.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Are you getting to the Login screen? Or is freezing up on a blue screen? Are you still at the gray screen? Run any updates recently?
You can try Safe Boot/Mode and see if that does anything - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1455
The next step would be to try and verify/repair Disk Permissions, but you'll need access to another computer for DVD/CD sharing or an external DVD drive.

if the device I connected have caused this, shouldn't the macbook itself have some type of protection that should prevent this from happening.
because when I took it to an apple certified maintenance shop, the guy said that now it could only run while connected to the power. it won't run on batteries. and that I have to change the motherboard.
can I just replace the damaged part only, would apple consider this as a design issue and they could pay for it, or should I just buy a new motherboard for 800$.

The problem is in finding a tech shop that will/can do board level repairs on Macs. They are few. And I certainly wouldn't spend $800 on a new logic board - I would replace the computer if I had to pay that much!
You could call around to a few repair shops and see if they feel competent to isolate the problem and do a board level repair - but I'm afraid, in the end, that your search will be futile.

Have you talked to your carrier to confirm the unlock?
What was the procedure you did to unlock the phone?
Standard unlocking procedure once processed by the carrier:
Backup in iTunes
Erase the phone (ignore restore terminology here)
Plug the phone to the computer and then launch iTunes
Wait for unlock notification.
Restore the backup.

I hate the new 4 firefox how can I go back to the one right before?

I dont like the new 4 I wont to go back to the upgrade I had right before the 4. My add ons wont work Like yoono and my Norton tool bar wont work and I cant delete my history and I just find it harder to use. Please help!!! Adobe kicks me out right before purchase, says I have to change region. How?

I just want to buy Photoshop Elements, but adobe will not let me. Right before purchase I am always kicked out, saying I have to change regions, but I cannot find anywhere to do that. I've tried logging in from adobe.no (I am in Norway), but that didn't help either. I can't find anywhere to change regions in my account or profile either. I set up sync right before a new install of windows 7. I cannot get my sync to set up properly.

I had signed up and set up sync right before a new install of windows 7. I made sure Firefox stated the data was sent to the server before letting IT take over(company policy). I had made sure I used the sync code input on my PC from my Iphone before hand.
I now cannot get my data from the server. Incorrect Sync code is primary. Each device is telling me to add the other device in the event my sync code is not working correctly.

I'm sorry, but these replies have been ludicrous. To actually answer your question, I would think they would honour their usual 14-day return policy, but you would need to speak with Apple directly.
As to the whole "which is better" debacle, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro 7 is the more polished and fleshed out piece of editing software, and what everyone is most familiar with to boot. But let's be honest, what do you expect for software that is ten years old versus three days. The fact of the matter is that pretty much everyone editing with Apple's software in the not so distant future is going to be editing on Final Cut Pro X, hands down. It's fundamentally that much better. You nay-sayers out there, if you don't switch to Adobe or Avid, you will go to FCP X! There is a reason for that, and there will be an even stronger reason for that with every update. People don't seem to understand that.
In your situation, if you don't own either, it makes a whole lot more sense to me for you to just roll with the hiccups FCP X brings if you can at all handle it. If not, you are going to spend $999 now on FCS 3 and another $400 in the near future when you decide to take the leap. Is there something worth $1000 to you in FCS 3 that FCP X doesn't offer? If so, then great, go ahead. It's an amazing piece of software. If not, enjoy the head start on what editing is going to look like for the next ten years.
All the best talking with Apple. The way that they are pushing FCP X I would hope you don't run into any trouble.
