HD guru's I wish to sit at your knee
I'm a total HD newbie and in need of some serious advice.
Yesterday I shot a project on that sexy Sony HDV camcorder. I shot almot two hours of rushes.
I now need to cut this and my first experiences with trying to import the footage seems problematic. For a start, FCP HD seems to not like this camera. I've set all the capture and sequence presets to DVCPRO HD 1080i/60i but the display on the camera says 50i. Is that a problem?
There is no communication between FCP and the camera, but after I fiddled with the camera's AV/DV out settings I got FCP to at least see the deck and control it. But capturing in FCP seems impossible as squashes the picture into 4:3 (even though I've tried anamorphic or non-anamorhic presets). It also starts dropping frames the moment it starts capturing.
iMovie HD, on the other hand, imports the footage fine and without much fussing. Although seeing it being captured slower than what it is playing is really annoying. It's also chewing up hard disc space faster than something that is very fast.
Maybe I chose the wrong project to try my hand at HD.
So now, how could I import the HD footage into DV-PAL whilst importing it at the same time
Please, guide me.
Look at your camera's manual. There should be a switch that allows you to export a DV signal from the camera rather than an HDV signal.

The way I did it was to set up the IP address on my LAN using fixed static addresses, and to have the router "forward" the http packets to the Mac running Apache. In Network system preferences panel, you also need to set the DNS servers address to the address of the router on the LAN. In order to reduce hackers trying to break in, I don't use the standard port 80 for my address, but use some other 4-digit port (e.g., 8182), so my website address ends up looking like www.whatever:8182. Instead of "no-IP.com" I used the free dynamic name service from http://www.dyndns.com/. I also put the web content on a firewire disk, which requires a little editing of the httpd.conf file. This was another security precaution. Anyhow, its been working great -- not a single problem. Also, Weblock is great shareware that lets you assign login IDs on the web folders.

eggcave.com is being blocked for my use due to badware-I trust this site and have clicked the appropriate button but the security is still blocking me.Turn this damn thing off NOW before my virtual eggs die as I ca't care for them-or tell me were and how to do it and I will. Okay, so I went on Twitter and some chick replies to a tweet and she sent me a tweet going like 'you guys were doin what here, looks confusing' then sends me a link. There was no tweet conversation or anything but being an idiot, I pressed the link (I was on my iPod Touch and it's 4th gen) and it got some 'time session ended' or whatever. Again, being the idiot and regretting it, I typed my Twitter username and password. Then it showed some 'cash' thing I don't even know. I searched it up, it was a phishing site and I changed my password for the third time. I hope you're still reading this because I'm very desperate for help. If I did press it, will the hacker hack my iPod too? Thanks! xx
Nope, they can't hack you iPod. The can (or could) log into your twitter account and change the password so y no longer control the site.
If you used the same password for other sites/serves change those too.
You might also want to change other information information in the twitter account like secret questions/answers since maybe they already logged into your account to steal that data and plan to use that information at a later date. -
Saving web sites to your iPad for later viewing
I would like to save a few web sites completely to my iPad to view later, where there is no internet acess. Using some sort of browser that can acess the data part of the iPad. Is it possible and how do I do it. Just using the iPad Only, no funny stuff that requires more parts.

I use AOL mail - http://www.aol.com/ with my Firefox 6.1 browser. Before updating aol mail worked great with firefox for years. Now when I try to send ( upload) messages with a file or images I always get the reading " there was a technical problem and I should try again". Messages with NO files or images go through just fine. I have cleared the Firefox history, the cache and cookies and the problem remained the same. The question is does this problem have something to do with the latest update ? AOL are still only familar with the 3.6 Firefox versions. Thanks
Well I guess I was too optimistic. Since last posting I have had three hang events, one during reboot. When the login dialog box came up I clicked on it and it hung.
However I do have a new data point. I have enabled the remote login (sshd). I have discovered that when the system hangs like I described above, I can still log in via SSH from my Windows system. The shell appears normal, but when I tried a "killall Safari" command the OS crashed hard. After a hard reset, the system hung during the login process. Again I could login remotely, and that time I executed a "sudo reboot" via the remote session. That cleared the display to all-blue but did not successfully reboot.
Can anyone suggest what to try via the remote login to help diagnose what is happening? I am familiar with typical Linux architecture but the differences in Mac OS X are leaving me a bit disoriented. -
I have a MacBookPro laptop. For some months, Firefox ask me to restart for 32Mb when I answer my eMails or I read the newspapers. Since 2 weeks ago also ask the last version of Firefox. If I open About Firefox, it says I have the last version.
Please give some advice about this question. Thank you.

Why do I get this result?
Should I upgrade|ignore|wait until the next version?

MycroftI had this same issue with Windows Vista Business 32-bit. I went to Help->About and clicked "check for updates", and it told me there were no updates. I clicked it again, and it told me I was up to date. I restarted Firefox and tried it again and it found the 12.0 update. I have also been having DNS issues where my browser keeps saying that it can't find the server name, but when I click "try again", it's ok. I have a suspicion that the updater will simply tell you there are no updates if it fails to contact the server for any reason. It should say "failed to contact server" instead, but it doesn't under some circumstances.

We have an interactive report that we have limited the number of rows that can be returned using the "Maximum Row Count" in the pagination definition. IE. The query if ran in sqlplus would return 1,000,000 rows but we limit to 500. The question is, w
