I  brought my notebook in the support center and they say that the hard disk is broken. How is possible after only 1 years of use?On my pc that i have since 2001 it never happen!!!I cannot explain this!

Harddisks do break, happens more often then you think.
There isn't much to explain about it.
They are precision devices, a simply bump when running is enough to kill them if you are unlucky.
It can be a number of reasons, even a small piece of dust during manufacturing can kill them.
Do some research on harddisks, then you find it's a miracle they work so well with so delicate mechanics.

(yes is desktop, but laptop harddisks are the same only smaller).
Ok thx i just want to know another thing.Do u think that external hard disk that could be connected to pc through usb are more fragile that another internal the pc?Because on my pc not the laptop i have a full hard disk so i have the doubt of buying an usb hard disk or putting another inside the pc,but some people say that the external hard disk are very fragile instead of the internal ones.

  • Parental control log viewer - still broken after all these years

I check this with every major OS X update. I know this has been a bug since 10.5, I think it goes back much further.
First, some background.  In all versions of OS X there's a "logs" feature that allows an admin to see the sites a user has visited. It's the primary way for an involved parent to teach wise computer use. Set parental controls to 'automatic', let the user go, then review the logs with your favorite teen.
Problem is, the log viewer only expands horizontally. So many entries can't be read. You see only the beginning of many site labels or URLs. The window control has been broken too -- it shows the normal resize control even though it only works in one direction.
So Apple fixed it in 10.7
Not the window mind you. They fixed the control. Now it shows the window can only resize vertically.
Yes. The engineer was in the code. And they left the window broken but fixed the control.
It's a conspiracy. Apple is trying to drive me crazy.
    I think it's working ...

    Thanks for your help!

  • G780 motherboard broken after 2,5 year

2012 august/september I bought myself a G780 and I thought there was a cable break in the power supply since a few months.
But now it won't start at all.
At the repair store they said the problem is that motherboard is broken (maybe caused by the broken power supply)
    Is this a possible cause?
And is this normal after 2,5 year?
Of course the warranty expired 29-7-14.... (MF date is 2012-07-26)
(Maybe it's no coincidencee warranty period is 2 years)
I think i'm stuck to a new laptop, but I think it will not be a Lenovo.

Make a bootable backup/clone of your previous installation or have at least backed up your home folder? If so, copy the login.keychain from eithe. Alternatively, erase the errant installation, restore the backup, and give it another go. If not, then you missed these:

  • Dock cable broken after only 1 month of use

I use the dock cable to connect my ipod classic 80gb to the sony stereo in my car with the usb port. After 1 month of use the cable doesn't connect to the stereo anymore and say Usb not device and only if i put the cable in a strange position it works for sometime and than again usb not device , than it works and after a bit it doesn't work anymore.I try to connect to itunes but the problem is the same. The cable cost €19 and i don't want to buy another because surely after a month it will be broken again so i just want to know why this happen.Someone can give me an advice?

Can you try eBay for the docking cables, since you sound like a cable destroyer.
I think on eBay, the cables are less than €9 or if from some Oriental countries less €1 which maybe where your fragile cable comes from.

  • My CS raw broken after several good years, help?

I have had CS installed and working fine on my machine for several years and I shoot strictly in raw (nef from a D80). All of a sudden a few days ago CS decided it did not want to open raw files any more, tiffs and jpgs still work fine. The first thing I tried was to download the latest raw plugin for CS and install it, still resulting in the same problem. I then proceeded to uninstall and reinstall CS in a few different ways, but to no avail. I also tried opening a raw file from my backup drive with the same results. The specific error message is "could not complete your request because of a disk error," which doesn't mean much to me but I am getting the idea that it is a problem with my machine and not the CS software itself.
I am desperate for any ideas/suggestions/help; since I only shoot in raw and my CS isn't working with that format I am virtually crippled and my CS is worthless to me.
    Help?

    > Haha, yes Dennis, I am sure I have been opening/editing raw files from my D80 for the past year. Or... have I? That would be something if I was imagining it the whole time. *checks self into metal hospital*
Joshua - As I said I really didn't want to question your memory but here's the thing:
    - The first ACR update to support (officially anyway) the D80 was v3.6 as part of CS2.
    - The D80 was not even announced until August of 2006. The last update of any kind available for CS was January of 2005.
Now either you have been taking advantage of a very lucky quirk all this time or something else is going on.
Nikon used to produce a raw plug-in for Photoshop didn't they? Is it possible that that is what you were using and what you perhaps lost or de-installed during your changes?

I have had my board for four years now, and everyone is telling me to upgrade to DDR3 memory with an i7 960,or 970 CPU, new Mobo that supports USB 3.0.    Some of the MSI LGA Socket 1155 supports up to 32 DDR3 memory, should I hold out for a board with more?  I love my MSI Platinum, but do previous MSI owners stay with MSI, or go over to ASUS for any better bells and whistles?
I have NEVER overclocked and had the DOT control disabled.  In looking at the newer boards like Z68A-GD80,and all the genie instant overclocking button, I started thinking how many other people have NOT used their DOT control in BIOS.  I don't think I've been getting the full potential out of my CPUs as I should have been.  I changed the percentages of the DOT and enable BOTH CPU and PCIe.  The CPU I changed the steps to 7%,14%,and 20%, and the same with the PCIe GPU.  I've always heard that using the DOT can make the board unstable.
I am Not a gamer.  I use Photoshop and Studio pinnacle 14HD Ultimate, which requires a lot of memory and resources. I thought this may help.  If this is NOT recommended, please let me know,or if others do video capture, editing and burning DVD's as well as Photoshop CS3, please tell me if you have the same board, what changes have you done to increase performance, without MAJOR overclocking.  I know it's a matter of time before I have to upgrade, but, money is the reason I'm not at this time. Thanks for any replies.

All the boards have similar bells and whistles within a similar price range, so there is no reason for changing.

Any overclocking can make a computer unstable. Most of us do overclocking in the BIOS and don't bother with hardware or software overclocking apps.
I used the P45 Platinum and was able to overclock that by about 35% stable. But I have since upgraded, as the performance of the previous boards just cannot be compared to todays boards anymore, and the efficiencies are so much better on the latest generation. No, your board is not an antique and there would be quite a few things you can do to increase performance, but I do suggest you open a new thread in the overclocking section of the forum to get advice. You can also search the overclocking section for threads that have been started by other P35 users.

  • 22% discount still is appearing on my bill after one full year, why?

I Was told by my salesman that after adding the new I Pad to my lines that I would receive the 22% discount. We'll, it has been a year, and after speaking to the manager of the South Asheville store (Omar), and being told by him that he would take care of it, it still hasn't showed up on my bill. I have 7 lines, and have been a Verizon customer since it was Bell Atlantic. I have called, came in to the store, and threatened to change my service to US Cellular. What does it take? I want my discount for the last year that I was promised.

Hello Canecreek! I'm sorry to hear that you are not getting your discount! This definitely needs to be added. At this point, we would recommend reapplying for the discount through the form on our website. http://vz.to/NZ6YDw

  • MSI GTX 660 Ti Games and O.S freeze

Hello, just one week ago I finally finish my new PC, here you can find what I have right now
    Intel Core i7 3770 3.40Ghz
    Asus P8Z77-V LE PLUS
    Corsair 2x8Gb DD3
    Nvidia MSI GTX 660 Ti
    Intel SSD 180 gb
    2 Western Digital HD (500gb and 1tb)
    Scythe Chouriki II 750w
Now I started to play just one game, talking about Guild Wars 2.
Really nice improvment from previous pc and it is smooth and fine but I just notice a strange noise coming from the pc when I am playing the game. (notice if during the game i open the map so actually there is no more any kind of graphic the noise goes away)
I tought it was the fan running faster so I did not care a lot but today the game freezed first, and when I restarted it it freezed again but not only the game, the whole pc.
I opened the case and i run game again. That noise is not a fan, it seems to come from the video card itself.
Please notice that I used the video card on my previous PC for a couple of week and I didn t have any kind of problem (power supply was the same)
I am going to try with another game, but do you have any idea what is happening?
I did not have freeze since very long time and now I am a bit dissapointed.
Can it be the powersupply not enough?
I hear the MSI GTX 660 Ti have an issue with over voltage that can cause problems.
    Thank for you kind answers
    Best Regards
    Leo

    Hi, I hope this helps:
I have the exact same problem with my MSI N660Ti PE 2GD5/OC, which I acquired in January 2013. It keeps crashing in high-performance games, and I too thought it was a bad driver. Turns out though, that the voltage spike you see there (mine had it too), is what happens when the GPU tries to speed the fans up automatically to cool the card down. I noticed that whenever my card reached between 60degC and 65degC, the card would crash, as the GPU responded to the heat by trying to speed the fans up. Speeding them up caused a sudden voltage spike, which caused my drivers to crash and, therefore, the game as well. I tried updating my card's BIOS, but apparently nvFlash doesn't work on a 64-bit OS
My Solution: Save a configuration with a predefined fan speed (I made mine 60%), which I activate every time I launch a game. The sound is horrendous, but my games no longer crash as the GPU can't autmatically change the fan speed anymore. I've even tried with 55% and that worked fine. The games in question, that were crashing then no longer crashed after I set the fan speed to manual, were Crysis3 (Ultra Settings), Battlefield3 (Ultra Settings), COD Black Ops 2, and a few others. I had this problem until March2013 when I decided to predefine fan speed settings.
Again, I hope this helps. It's by no means the greatest fix, but it worked for me. I hope it does for you too.

  • BlackScreen and System Reboot with MSI GTX 660 OC TF

Please Svet, or another adm/technnical supporter, I need help!
    I have a MSI GTX 660 2gb/ddr5 TF OC s/n 602-V287-04SB1208202249.
I'm having some issues in some games (like Batman Arkham City, Dead Island, Mirror's Edge, Tomb Raider 2013): A few moments after I start to play I just receive a blackscreen, sound bug (like a CD scratched) and the pc reboots.
I already uninstalled the driver with driver sweeper (not in safe mode), reinstalled, installed a old driver and the issue continues. I updated the bios to the NV287MH211 bios. Not helped. I formatted my system too.
I bought another psu, the problem persists.
    My system is:
    Intel Core i5 3570k 3.4~3.8ghz
    Board Gigavyte GA-Z77X-D3H v1.0 (F16 bios)
    8gb ram ddr3 kingstom 1333mhz
    Psu OCZ ZT550w
    Windows 7 64bit
I have a Zotac GTX 460, I tested him and have no problem with the  games.
I have no idea what to do anymore.
I will attach  a screenshot from bluescreen viewer, the error that appears when I can finish the game without system reboot (ctrl+alt+del) and a log from gpu-z with the moment of the crash.
Thank you for the help, and sorry for my english.
    Blue Screen viewer:
    Batman crash error:
    Gpu-z log:
    http://www.mediafire.com/view/?ywskyvjfwyj3ub3
    Edit:
I tested Borderlands 2 and after few minutes playing the blackscreen happened, then I just hit ctrl+alt+del, the screen goes white and I listen the sound of disconnected hardware. NVidia Kernel mode sttoped work. I also installed NVidia 320.00 beta driver without solution to the problem.
Apparently, this issue only happens when I play some games that need more gpu use. I'm not sure about this.

  • MSI GTX 660 Black screen on HDMI input

    Hi all,
    First of all, spec list:
AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE (stock clocks and voltage)
    MSI 990FXA-GD80
MSI GTX 660 (stock clocks and voltage)
    2x4GB Kingston HyperX Predator DDR3 RAM (stock @ 1333MHz)
    Corsair GS600 (49A 1 12V rail)
    Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
    2x Cooler Master Excalibur
    LG 50PM670T (50inch plasma 600Hz sub-field)
Right, so here goes, my issue. Ever since setting up this rig, I've noticed that if I connect it to my TV through the HDMI port on the GPU directly to a HDMI port on the TV, it works fine until I reboot. After I reboot, nothing can be displayed and it's only when I use a VGA cable directly to my TV that anything pops up on the screen. I would then have to wait a fair while (up to like an hour) for it to recognise the HDMI input again. As I'd just set this up and hadn't installed any drivers, I put it down to a driver issue.
Now I've installed the Nvidia driver included in the CD, it still does the same thing. Well, sort of. When I boot it up, nothing at all shows up on my TV. Infact, the only thing that shows up is "no signal". However when it loads into windows, if I unplug the HDMI cable and plug it back in again several times I get the noise when you plug a USB device into Windows (duhh-dum) and then it displays correctly. Again though, when using VGA (DVI-> VGA on the graphics card end) it displays fine right from the get-go.
Is there something else I need to do? something in the BIOS? something in the Nvidia Control Panel? I did have the AMD Catalyst software installed as I have an AMD CPU, so I uninstalled that thinking they might be conflicting, but it didn't make a difference. Unfortunately, I don't have a DVI to HDMI adapter so I can't see if it's a display conflict with the TV or the HDMI port on the GPU.
Many thanks to those who take the take to read and respond and again, I haven't modified any settings at all, just kept everything at stock values.

check setting in nvidia control panel,
there is options for multi display,
which to be 1st, how to operate, clone, extend.
try play with them and see how its goes

  • MacBook Pro with Retina 13" Late 2013 thunderbolt port broken after 10.9.4 update

One of Thunderbolt Port (near USB port) was broken after 10.9.4 update.
I usually use mini Display Port to Display Port cable to connect my external screen, it works fine before 10.9.4 update. After 10.9.4 update, I tried to connect the external screen with the same cable, and the main screen of my MacBook Pro with Retina Display twinkling once so I'm sure the external screen was identified, but no video signal output.
I went to local Apple Premium Reseller (there is no Apple Store in Taiwan) and the they told me all of Thunderbolt Port was fine, they test with their own 10.9.2 copy and it seems ok. After that, I tried to re-install 10.9.4, downloading directly from Apple, the system re-install progress was complete but the Thunderbolt Port issue still there.
I connect to the broken Thunderbolt Port with Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter, and it works fine, so I believe the only problem is that there is no video signal output from the Thunderbolt Port (near USB port one).
    What should I do now?
Model: MacBook Pro with Retina 13" Late 2013

I can confirm that problem, too: Im' working with a Dell U2713HM display, connected via display port. Since 10.9.4 Update i'm experiencing random black screens and/or display going to energy saving mode. Today i've had this issue twice: Display going black and after disconnecting the macbook von all cables screen of the macbook remaining black. Holding Power Button for about 10 s restarts the macbook. After 5 minutes the same problem appeared again.

  • Tried installing latest iTunes (10.5.3.3). During installation received error message asking to verify access to "C:\Config.Msi\187e500.rbf". The only option it gives is "try again" or "cancel". No choice but to cancel installation. Any suggestions?

The problem started when my current iTunes kept popping up a window stating that my Auto Run was turned off. (which means iTunes will not be able to recognize when a CD is inserted or ejected). It asked if I wanted iTunes to run  Auto Run and I select Yes every time (this window pops up every time I open my iTunes), but a second window pops up stating iTunes cannot turn on my Auto Run setting (but it will still be able to recognize CDs) to which I choose okay. A third window pops up after stating that iTunes was not properly installed and if I wish to import or burn CDs I need to re-install iTunes, except that I can import CDs since I did this only yesterday and this problem has been going on at least a month.
To add to this, I cannot cannot automatically update to version 10.5.3. (I don't recall which problem came first, my Auto Run problem or the fact that my iTunes can't update). iTunes suggested that I manually install the update, so I went to the apple site and tried manually installing the latest iTunes (10.5.3). However, during the installation process I received an error message. It asked me to verify access to "C:\Config.Msi\187e500.rbf". The only option it gives is "try again" or "cancel". I tried hitting Try again a few times but the same error message popped up, so I had no choice but to cancel the installation. Afterwards, I tried searching in my C drive but could not find "C:\Config.Msi\187e500.rbf"
Does anyone have any suggestions how I can update my iTunes?

I should have posted this earlier, but anyway. I restored my laptop to factory version after backing up any useful data, and the first thing I the laptop was restored was connect to the internet, download and install the latest version of iTunes. And Bingo! It worked.

Aperture 3 shuts down every time I try to use it after only using it for one minute. Aperture closes then a pop up screen asks if I want to reopen Aperture. If somrone at Aperture didn't keep pushing a stop button for it to close,Apple wouldn't need to ask the stupid question"Do you want to reopen Aperture?" to begin with. Anyone out there having the same annoying problem?? I like Aperture or used to anyway, but if this nonsense continues, I will be forced to buy some other editor besides "No hanging fruit - Adobe photoshop CS5" or "I don't like you so I'm shutting down - Aperture".

    Hello,
sorry to hear about your troubles, but we will need to have more technical information about your problem to be able to help you:
There may be several reasons that can cause Aperture to crash on start up:
You may have imported an image (or video) in an encoding that Aperture does not support, or that is larger than 2 GB, or that is corrupted and Aperture cannot process it
Your Aperture Library or Preferences may have been corrupted
Or you are having a system wide problem with your machine.
Or you may simple be running out of disk space.
It would help, if you could post the crash log from your last crash. Also, more details on your Aperture Library: Is it managed or references? how large is it? Is it on your system drive or on an external drive?
What have you done, shortly before the trouble started? Have you imported new images or videos? Did you install any plug-ins or any new software, lile Final Cut?
Try, if you can get Aperture to launch, if you defer the generation of Previews: Hold down the SHIFT-key immediately after you start Aperture to prevent preview generation for that session. If a damaged image in your library is preventing normal opening, this may allow you to start Aperture. If this succeeds, try to identify the broken image or video among the images you recently imported and remove it from the library.

  • MSi GTX 660 2GD5/OC randomly stops outputting video.

While playing Star Trek Online and Champions Online, this graphics card will randomly stop outputting video with no warning. It has also crashed Windows completely on three of these occasions. The card never recovers and the only way to fix it is a hard reset. This problem has persisted over five different iterations of nVidia's drivers, both beta and WHQL.
I've already sent this card in for service to correct this problem and, upon receiving it from MSi's service center yesterday, encountered the same problem again in both games. Both times I installed it into my P67A-GD65 motherboard, I made sure the video drivers from my previous dedicated GPU and integrated HD 4000 were completely uninstalled via Control Panel and Guru3D's Driver Sweeper program.
Is there anyone here who's had similar experiences and can offer some troubleshooting advice? I've already edited my Windows 7 registry to manually adjust the frame time out and recovery period, to no effect.
