  • Where is the link to send a shortcut to desktop?

IE has it under files, then send, then shortcut to desktop.
    Thanks :)

You can drag the favicon on the left end of the location bar onto the desktop to create a shortcut.
You can also use an extension.
    * SaveLink: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/14019/
    * Deskcut: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/66
If you drag a link or favicon on the left end of the location bar onto the desktop to create an internet shortcut then that shortcut gets the icon of the default browser.<br />
If you want a different icon (favicon) then you have to assign that icon yourself to the desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties).<br />
You can usually get the favicon if you append "favicon.ico" to the main domain of a website (e.g. http://www.mozilla.com/favicon.ico ) to display the favicon in a tab and save that image to a folder or see if you can find it in "Tools > Page Info > Media".

  • Website shortcuts on desktop blank icons

Updated from version 36.x to 37, drag URL to desktop and get a blank page "icon" instead of usual shortcut with faveicon for the site. Fresh install of Version 37 does not, and never does, create
    shortcutCache folder in user profile.
Problem verified on 4 separate PCs. 2 PCs using Kaspersky, 1 using Avast, 1 using Avira, so not AV related. 2 have Chrome, 2 have no Chrome, so not conflict related.
Pref file is set to default in browser.shell.shortcutFaveicons, true.
    Very, very frustrating.

Is there a bug report number or link in Bugzilla? Totally clean install of today's release on a VM that's totally OOB state produces blank page shortcuts on desktop. That's really bad, should be high priority

  • Automatic Shortcut on Desktop

    Hi All,
I am making a swing application i want that when my applicatio.zip
file extracted an automatic shortcut at desktop gets created whose target is pointed to my application.bat file.
    Please Help,
    Thanks

well using a zip file, you cant force a shortcut to be installed. You have to use an installer instead, or a self extracting zip file. From there, simply make the shortcut be installed to the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Desktop directory... assuming this app is for Windows XP

  • Drop action for droping a shortcut to desktop

    Hello,
I want to drop a shortcut to desktop from a GUI component.
In Transferable class getTransferData method DataFlavor passed on drop action is application/x-java-serialized-object; class=java.lang.String.
In DragSourceListener impl class dragEnter method parameter shows Copy and Move action can be used (DragSourceDragEvent.getDropAction()).
Cursor stays as crossed circle so dropping not available.
Anybody know how to do it?

..I want to drop a shortcut to desktop from a GUI component. What kind of 'GUI component'? It would not make sense to have a desk-top short-cut to a tree within a browser (for example), though it might make sense to have a short-cut for the browser itself, or any individual document the browser deals with.

  • Preview pick shortcut changes desktop

    HI,
When I am using Audition in FCP X and previewing my clips using Control Option Y, I try to use Control left and right arrow to select different Picks while Previewing. However, instead of Previewing my Mac (Mountain Lion), changes desktops.
    Does anyone have a solution.
    Thanks

    Thanks Alchroma,
That's fixed it. For some reason the Keyboard Shortcut is Control left or right arrow. But if you forget control and just use the arrow key it works. Wierd!
    Thanks again

  • Wont create a shortcut on desktop.

After running my app the second time, it does NOT ask me if I want to create a shortcut, but I want it to. How do I make it do this? I tried adding <offline-allowed/> to the information block, but to no avail.
    please help.

    I'm Windows with 1.4.0_01 (Webstart 1.0.1)
I left a Webstart icon on the desktop, and clicking on that gets me the Manager. The program is C:\Program Files\Java Web Start\javaws.exe that starts. You might find it and start it directly and see what you get.
I'm guessing that you're starting an application, not the manager.

  • Report/Concurrent Request shortcut on desktop..

    Hi All
I want to create a shortcut for a report/concurrent request which I use frequently. I dont want to login into Oracle Apps. I just want to run the report/concurrent request by clicking on the shortcut and giving the parameters.
Is it possible in Oracle Apps? If yes how to do it?
    Regards
    Rahman

    Hi Rahman,
You'll need to login in some form to submit and/or view the report. You can create a function that will jump to the Submit Requests form (SRS) with your nominated concurrent program defaulted - you could try creating a link on the desktop for it, but the first time at least you'll need to login.
If you frequently use the report why not schedule it to run as often as your need and set the the "Notify" option and "Concurrent:Attach URL" profile option so that you get an email when your report runs, plus a link to the report? NB: This depends on Workflow Notifcation Mailer being configured and running.
Alternatively, some custom solution could be developed to meet your need - but security would always need to be addressed.

  • Java WebStart deployment does not create shortcut on desktop

Using Netbeans 7.3 and latest Java 1.7.0_17. In Properties -> Build -> Deployment I have these settings ticked:

There's another thread In need of opinion - desktop shortcut, security warning. which I've tried the suggestions, but I cannot get a permanent install with a shortcut on either Windows or Linux. The app is launched OK, it just does not persist. Using jcontrol on Linux, I can choose an option to create a desktop shotcut, and it does create a shortcut, but as soon as you launch the app, the shortcut is deleted.
    Can anyone help ?

I believe this is caused by the <shortcut/> element not being in the correct location in the JNLP file.  It should be in the <information/> element.  I ran into this using the ant tasks to generate a JNLP file, I'm not sure how Netbeans is creating the file.  I reported this bug here: https://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-27106.  There are a couple of solutions mentioned in that Jira.

  • Create different network share shortcut in desktop for different security groups using GPO

    Hi,
I have an OU named TECH that contains two different security groups ENG and PRESS.
When users in ENG group logs in desktop should show a network share \\server1\eng-share and
when users in PRESS group logs in desktop should show a network share \\server1\press-share.
How to create a GPO for this ?
    regards, Faisal

You could use group policy preferences shortcuts. You would create a shortcut to each of these shares and then use Item Level Targeting. The target would point to the security group needed.

  • Firefox shortcut on desktop is displaying a padlock. What does this mean and how do I get rid of it?

The Firefox shortcut on my desktop is displaying a padlock. It did not have this earlier today and I have no idea where it came from or what it means. When opening Firefox with this shortcut the page is then outlined in red. Does anybody know what has caused this and how to get rid of it?
    == This happened ==

Maybe your security software (anti-virus, firewall) is blocking Firefox.
Did you look in the settings there?

  • Shortcut on desktop for network folder

I have a network of 2 machines (one Mac one vista).. i need to put a shortcut on my MAC desktop to one of the (networked) Vista folders.. how do i do this?.. I have tried just dragging the folder onto my (mac) desktop but that doesn't do it-- any help would be appreciated! thanks

Instead of just dragging, press the Option and Command keys before dragging the icon for the network disk onto the desktop. The icon being dragged should now have a curly arrow, which indicates it is an alias. Drop it on the desktop to create the alias.
You can also right (Control) click on the network disk while it is already mounted on the desktop, then select +Make Alias+ from the contextual menu.
