HD video LCD projector

My HD video won't play on the LCD projector I have at school. I don't have the option to change my connector or display that I know of. Can I downgrade the video quality so it will play? Can I just run an HDMI chord to the projector from my computer

Hello, Mike.
I am guessing that the message was: "This movie cannot be played because a display that is not authorized to play protected movies is connected."  To view HD video on an external display, the display must have a digital connection (DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI) and also support HDCP.  If the projector is HDCP compliant, then the issue would be related to the connect between the Mac and the projector.  I would recommend trying with one of the approved digital connectors.

  • Cannot output video to an LCD projector

I own a week 11 model of the Macbook Pro, and mine cannot ouput to an LCD projector at work. Everytime I hook it up and try to detect displays, I get a signal for almost a second, then it goes out of sync and then the projector tells me the signal is lost or out of sync. Other co-workers of mine own Macbook Pro's (in particular a week 22 model) and they perform fine.
I was told earlier that the early manufactured Macbook Pro's had a defective video out, and I was wondering if anyone had anymore information regarding this.
Macbook Pro (1.54", 2.0 Ghz Intel Duo Core, 2GB RAM)   Mac OS X (10.4.6)   Firmware 1.0.1

Does someone know what I really need?
In the short term what you need is to post this in the right forum. You posted this in the Panther and earlier OS forum but your computer information says you're using Leopard, but that doesn't matter because this is really a hardware problem and would best be off in the forum for your computer. I'll ask it be moved there.

  • Best technique for playing back video through LCD projectors

I recently created a  15 minute project in CS4.  I burned it to a DVD and it plays smoothly on a computer and DVD player.  I had a auditorium full of people and used a laptop to play the DVD to the LCD projector and the video was stuttery - fast motion, correct motion, and back again.  It was not horrible, but I noticed it.  What is the best workflow to output the highest qualtiy and best playback to projector?  I started with HDV footage and downsampled it to MPEG-DVD.  I customized the preset to max at 8 and target at 5.  Would flash look and work better?  I don't know what make and model the projector was because it was mounted to the ceiling.  I noticed this behavior once before on a different projector, same laptop.
    Thanks,
    Lisa

Target at 5 is pretty low, unless you are over 110 minutes duration. Since you mentioned only 15 minutes it is definitely too low.
Did you use this DVD-HQ  Bitrate & GOP calculator ? That will give you much better quality.

  • How do i connect my macbook pro retina display to lcd projector

How do i connect my macbook pro retina display to lcd projector?

Depends on what type of video connection the projector accepts. Most common would be DVI, VGA or HDMI. Review this article for more information: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3235

  • Any issues connecting the new MacBook to LCD projector with VGA adapter?

I do presentations on the road using my old MacBook with whatever LCD I find when I get there. I run Keynote with lots of video clips in my presentations. I carry a Mini-DVI to VGA adapter. Most often it works fine.
I was hoping to update to the new MacBook, but I'm concerned about the display issues on the discussion board.
Has anyone had any experience connecting the new MacBook using Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter?

I received my MB (aluminium) 2.0 in early November, but only this week (2nd week December) have had a need to use it for a presentation via the Mini DisplayPort --> VGA adapter.
I thought I could use it just as I did my previous (white 1.83 MacBook) laptop, but this one is a bit quirkier. Plugging in the adapter cable results in a system freeze. Unplugging the cable will restore mouse control (unfreezing the computer) in most instances, but not all.
Turns out that in order to use an external VGA connection, I need to have the adapter plugged in and restart the machine. If the external display is not present from boot, then it freezes.
This is unlike my previous MacBook, in which I could plug-unplug willy-nilly. The screen would flash blue a couple of times and all would be fine, with the external extended display detected and functioning. This was one of those nice "Mac" things that my Windows-using colleagues were somewhat jealous of, as they constantly have trouble getting their laptops to recognize the LCD projector.
Sadly, it looks like I'm now living in their world...

  • Mac Pro and 1080 LCD projector

I have had little success getting a Hi Def LCD projector to display correct resolution from a MacPro simultaneously running a 23" display from the video card. The Projector displays an extremely pixelated image, while the 23" Apple Display reduces its screen size to a very low resolution. What am I doing wrong? Thanks...

My first thought would be to add the Radeon 2600, it does work in 2007 models running Leopard. And the cost is acceptable.
As long as the X1900 is fine, no need to swap out for the newer 3870 just yet.

  • LCD projector connection to ibook G4

can someone please let me know what kind of cable is needed for a Hitachi LCD projector? the "media" personel at the hospital where i work are trying to use a USB to USB connection , which isn't working. There is a male 3 x 5 prong in the back of the projector that the PC's can attatch to, but my computer only has firewall, USB inputs. If anyone has any idea please let me know - thanks

    Hi,
    Welcome to the Discussions.
Your iBook came with a VGA adapter that plugs into the video port next to the headphone jack. Most projectors have VGA input and connecting to it will work. If the projector doesn't have VGA, it won't work with your iBook.

  • Brand New Mini / Brand New LCD Projector

Just bought a Mac Mini 1.42 GHz with the 80 GB hard drive and the Combo drive. I just opened the box and plugged it into my brand new Panasonic PT-900U LCD projector and nothing. No video. Nothing at all.
It seems many people are having video problems with the mini. What's the deal? Will this mini work with my brand new projector? My PowerBook works instanly with the projector. I don't have a monitor to test the mini with at all. I have no way of knowing if the mini is even booting as I can't see a thing.
Can I hook the mini to my PowerBook? HELP!!!

    Snap-
Can you also plug something else, like a computer, into the projector and verify that it is working? And if you had another monitor to plug into the mini I would try that as well.
I do not know what your trouble shooting expertise is, so please excuse me if you have tried that already. But it would help to narrow things down to the actual culprit.

  • LCD Projector Limits?

Despite getting the dock and the VGA adapter and being told that the Overall Ipad screen display would project onto the LCD projector, the only thing that will project are movies(even YouTube yes) and pictures -- but not anything else
Was hoping to display an App at a conference this week
Anyone have any different outcomes, or at least a creative idea?

I am completely bummed out. Today I had a chance to show off the iPad to a group of 200 Windows users, quite a few of whom are interested in purchasing the iPad. I just bought the VGA adapter.
Much to my shock and disappointment, the iPad could not be seen by the Toshiba projector to which it was attached. What's the point of having a VGA adapter that doesn't display a VGA signal on a video projector?
This is such a crippled product that I will surely return it to Apple. Such a bait and switch.
Please, please Apple. Fix this problem in firmware immediately. You are losing customers and opportunities to win the hearts and minds of people when we can't even show how exceptional this iPad is.

  • MBP (2011) can't detect LCD Projector, says NO SIGNAL

with appropriate Mind Display Port to VGA Adapter, my MBP (mid2011) doesn't detect LCD Projector. I tried Safeboot start up, and also resetting PRAM (Command+Option+P+R).. But both strategies did not work. What else should i do? Thanks!

    Hi Petrus1986,
If you are having an issue with not getting any video on your external display, you may want to troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

  • I have a version 1 iPad. I would like to be able to use my LCD projector to display content to my students. I have the dongle to attach to the projector, but can't make it work. The process DOES work with my friend's iPad 2. Any advice? Thanks!

Expanding on what deggie said, with an iPad 1 the app you're using must support video out. Only the iPad 2 can mirror the screen. The apps included with the iPad that output to external monitors are given here:

For third-party apps, consult the app's documentation or contact the developer.

  • Exporting to play on LCD projector

I don't have a DVD burner and I need to present my imovie on a windows laptop connected to a LCD projector. I have tried exporting as a quick time movie and the results were dismal. the movie was compressed from 10 Gig to 100 MB. Is there anyway to export in a higher resolution? If I network my windows laptop to my mac, can I export in some form that Windows will play full screen?
Any ideas will be much appreciated!
    powermac G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

If your iMovie Project isn't too long you may be able to compress it (QuickTime format) so it will fit on a CD.
If the PC is running Win 2000 or XP you can install QuickTime 7 on it.
Export from iMovie to QuickTime and choose "Expert" settings.
Choose Movie to QuickTime Movie and click the "Options" button.
Use H.264 as the video codec (Settings tab). Leave the other settings at default (current frame rate, data rate at automatic) and set the quality slider to "High". Use "Multi-Pass" (takes much longer but makes a better file).
Set the size to 640X480 if your movie is 4:3. Bigger isn't better.
Set the Audio codec to AAC, stereo (if needed) 44.100kHz, and a bit rate of 128.
Export at these settings on my lowly Mac mini G4 takes about 15 minutes per minute of video. Don't be discouraged as the "time" for the export climbs. The hard work is the multi-pass and iMovie mis-interprets the total export time. Let's hope yours isn't feature length. Let it work while you sleep.
The data rate for this is under 40MB's per minute which would allow about 18 minutes of video to fit on a CD.
Insert a blank CD-R and drag your blah.mov to it. Drag the named CD to the Trash (it will change to the "burn" icon) and wait for it to finish. This Finder burned CD will play on Mac's and PC's.

  • NVIDEA outputs digital signal to LCD projector

We are having a different problem with connecting to LCD projectors at our school. The problem seems to result from a Crestron media manager between the MBP and the projector. the MBP connects via the DVI-to-VGA adaptor. If the MBP has the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT card, it sends a digital signal to the projector and nothing shows up on the screen. Displays preference panel shows the 2nd monitor as "Digital 170T." There are 3 MBPs showing this behavior. one older MBP with an ATI Radeon X1600 card connects just fine. My G4 with an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 also worked (for over 3 years). both show a "VGA" connection in Displays preference panel.
The NVIDIA MBPs can connect directly to an LCD projector and output a VGA signal that works. it seems that the intermediate Crestron system is not sending a signal that the NVIDIA requires to know it is connected to a VGA display. and of course, Crestron is telling our support people it is not their problem; NVIDEA's web support doesn't even touch Mac topics.
So how do we convince the NVIDIA card to output a VGA signal from the DVI port?

Nvidia Control Panel. Change the video output. Should work.

  • IPOD Touch and LCD Projector

Can an IPOD Touch be connected to an LCD projector? I am a teacher and would like to use my Touch to play downloaded videos on my LCD projector without having to move my laptop from room to room. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    hi,
yes it is possible using an audio/video cable like this one: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB128LL/B?fnode=MTY1NDA0OQ&mco=MTA4MjQ5OTM
(given that you projector accept component video)

  • How do I connect a 2013 Macbook Pro Retina to an Epson Power Lite 61p LCD Projector?

I am trying to attach an Epson PowerLite 61p LCD Projector to my 2013 Macbook Pro Retina, but I cannot find which type of adapter I need. I would assume whichever adapter is required it must connect via thunderbolt. However, I do not know if the required adapter is a "Mini Display Port to VGA Adapter," "Apple Mini DVI to VGA Adapter," or a "Thunderbolt to VGA Adapter." I would deeply appreciate your help and guidance. Thanks!

It does not matter whether you get an Apple adapter or a third pary one.  What you have there is a Mini Displayport to VGA adapter, but as you know, your new MacBook no longer has an MDP port!
Thunderbolt to VGA adapters do not exist but there are plenty of HDMI to VGA adapters out there:
