HD Video Podcast Category

How can I get our podcast into the "HD Podcasts" category?
I see it's listed as Podcasts > Music > Video Podcasts > HD
but I don't see how to form the correct RSS feed category tag for this.
Anyone have any ideas?
iTunes support has no clue... I've asked them multiple times with no luck.

Well, still no luck. Nobody from Apple has a clue, either.
I'm trying to get our podcast added to two categories that don't seem to be accessible by the XML tags:
How-To:

and

If anyone has a clue, please help!

• Video podcast question

I subscribe to several CS3 video podcasts. I want to watch these on my iPhone. I have my iPhone settings (under "podcasts" tab) syncing these video podcasts onto my iPhone. Problem is that I get only audio.
How to get the video to show up as well?
Thanks in advance for any help with this!

Yeah, but I find that to be a real design flaw and an issue.
If it's a "Video Podcast", then some smart engineer at Apple should have the sense to make it that wherever you launch that podcast from, it plays whatever format the podcast is in. or give us a video podcast category.
I, for one, have a few hundred short form videos in my video list, and to have to finger-scroll through all those videos just to get to the podcasts AT THE END is a real PITA.
Come on, Apple, this one's a serious oversight. It has been a hassle "ever since" and doesn't fit the moniker "easy to use" at all.

• ITunes categorises my podcast as 'video podcast' instead of 'audio podcast'

I'm new to this!
When I started, I had 'select any media file' ticked on my Feedburner preferences in 'create podcast enclosures from links to'. iTunes took this and added a random video I had uploaded ages ago (as well as the audio podcasts I wanted up) and put me into the video podcasts category. Once I sorted it out, I changed my preferences to read 'audio files only', and pinged etc.
iTunes has now updated everything, however the category remains stuck on video podcasting! I can't figure out how to change this. Is there something in the XML file? I've looked all through it and can't see anything I should change!
Or is it just that iTunes will take a while to update and reflect the changes?
Many thanks for your time.

I'm getting 'Podcasts>Audio Podcasts>Video Games>GAMINGtruth' which seems reasonable. Your category tags read
<itunes:category text="Games & Hobbies">
<itunes:category text="Video Games" />
</itunes:category>
So it looks as if it's sorted itself out.

• Video Podcasts to download on Usenet! (Newsgroups)

Wow! How cool! There are so far two Video Podcasts of documentary stuff in usenet newsgroups that can now be downloaded!
http://www.newzbin.com/search/query/p/?q=video+podcast&Category=-1&searchFP=p
Looks like they've been encoded in MPEG 4 with 480 pixel resolution.
What are newsgrops you ask? Have a look at Slyck's guide to Newsgroups:

Hey wingrider97,
Are you trying to download the Podcasts on iTunes, and then sync them over to your iPod? Or are you attempting to download them directly to your iPod using the Podcast app? Depending on your answer, one of the following documents might help:

• Video Podcast not showing up in Category listings on ITMS

I've created a video podcast, submitted it to ITMS, it was approved and has been available for 2 weeks now.
My main category is INVESTING.
When I search the ITMS for my podcast by name, two of the three formats (iPod & iPhone) of my podcast are correctly listed (the HD version is curiously not listed in a search, but is available using the link provided by the ITMS).
But, when I browse the INVESTING category, none of them are listed.
When I view my podcast in the ITMS after searching for it, the categories appear to be set correctly (INVESTING, TRAINING) in each of them.
Why? What can I do to have it listed in the Category browse windows?
Thanks!

Sorry to say, but the "browse" feature in the iTMS seems to be on the fritz, with no immediate fix in sight. The category/subcategory listings appear to have a limit on the number of podcasts that are able to be displayed (about 1000), so until this is fixed or iTunes cleans house and gets rid of dead podcasts, you are unfortunately out of luck. Welcome to the club.

• Categorizing Movies, TV Shows & Video Podcasts

Dear Mac Friends,
I was wondering if some one could offer some advise or perhaps offer 3rd Party Software to help organize my iTunes Library more efficiently.
My issues is getting iTunes to recognize the different kinds of Video files that I upload to the Main Library. All Video files by default, are categorized and placed in the "Movies" Library regardless of whether they are TV Shows or Video Podcasts. I download lots of TV shows from my TiVo and would like to place them in the "TV Shows" Library. I know there is not way for iTunes to tell the difference but I should at the very least be able to manually categorize them by what they are. I've tried changing the "Genre" and "Category" to say TV Show it still puts it in the Movies Library.
This becomes problematic and very confusing when trying to Sync them to my iPhone or Video iPod. I don't know if I should chose the Playlist of TV Shows that I created from the "Music" Preference-Pane or if I need to manually select each TV Show Episode from the "Movies" Preference-Pane
Any Advice or Suggestion would be very appreciated.

FOLLOW-UP ISSUE:
I have made a number of Smart Playlists for my TV Shows and Video Podcasts. However when I select my Video Podcast Playlists to be sync'd in the iphone/ipod syncing preferences (under the MUSIC tab), they do not sync. Sadly I have to select Podcast independently under the PODCAST tab. This become very difficult when I have 100+ podcasts. I'd much rather be able to select a playlist.
It is interesting that under the VIDEO tab they do allow for TV Show Playlist syncing. I'm guessing this is a common gripe and that it is simply not a feature that has be implemented yet. However, I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion or work-around.

• Showing up in Video Podcast Browse

Hi Everyone,
I'm really excited by my video podcast,
http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=180269621
and iTunes has accepted it, but it doesnt seem to be showing up in the video browse window, where people will most likely see it. I've noticed the video window is only 8 pages long. Do they only choose the best of and feature them? And if so, how do I get them to take notice of mine? I set the category to "comedy" through feedburner because "video" was not an option. It was been a week.
Thanks very much!
Amy

There are many thousands of video podcasts available via iTunes; the ones listed in that room are the few, featured ones. To be featured there, drive subscriptions and other interest in your podcast and it may be added. In the meantime, the podcast should still be discoverable via search and browse, like all of the other podcasts available.

• ITunes lists Podcast as Video Podcast due to CMS Error

Before I begin, here are my podcast feed and my itunes link:
Mine: http://www.gamingtruth.com/feed/podcast/
iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=315180101
So, I noticed after my show was submitted to iTunes that Wordpress had set previous posts uploads' to the same type that PowerPress ( http://www.blubrry.com/powerpress/ ) uses. I corrected my feed using a fix I found in their forums ( http://forum.blubrry.com/index.php?topic=595.0 ).
Now, I have a feed that only contains my podcasts, but the category breadcrumbs read: Podcasts > Video Podcasts > Video Games > GAMINGtruth. Is there any way to correct this?
I've already pinged iTunes, so is there something else I should be doing to ensure it gets placed in the correct category?
Using WP v. 2.7.1 & BluBrry PowerPress v. 0.7.3
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

• Video Podcasts No Longer Work on my 2nd (3rd?) Gen. iPod Touch!

Okay, I'm not really sure if I actually have a 2nd or 3rd generation iPod touch. It's a 8 GB, and I bought it in November of 2009 or so. I'm guessing it's a 2nd generation since it stopped updating after iOS 4.2.1. Now with that out of the way, onto the real question....
There was a new iTunes version a few days ago, so I went ahead and updated that. Ever since, I have had difficulties with any new VIDEO podcasts that I download. I cannot sync them onto my iPod at all. Audio podcasts work just fine, but video podcasts do not. I have literally tried everything - restoring my iPod, deleting and re-downloading the podcasts, and even re-installed iTunes completely. I figure that it might have something to do with the file type of the videos, but I would've gotten an error message if that had been the case. I am extremely puzzled. Please advise.

No one?

• Moving Keynote Presentation to a Video Podcast

I have a Keynote presentation that I would like to record with narration, manually advance slides in sync with the narration, then move the combined narrated Keynote to a video podcast where viewer can see the slides and hear the narration.
Have tried moving it to GarageBand but it seems to throw up on the audio, won't take it in either the 'copy audio' or 'mix audio' options.
iMovie seems a logical choice but text on the slides (which look great in Keynote) all look out of focus in iMovie, either the new one or iMovieHD. Some fonts help this situation but none look anywhere as clear as the original Keynote. Went to One on Ones and no help there.
This does not seem like an off the wall application of Keynote to me but a logical extension for 'distance learning'. Has anyone done this successfully with text /photo slides with narration? how about slides with video clips as well?

Appreciate suggestion, but does not work. Maintaining touch on the title, highlight the video, no delete check mark appears; letting go start the video playing again.
Kappy's suggestion doesn't work for me either. Just go into the iPod App, click on Podcasts, and swipe to the right. You should get a "Delete" block on the right. That's how it works on my iPad.

• HT5295 How do I play video podcasts on my TV via the Podcasts app? After iOS 6 upgrade, I'm unable to do this.

I used to be able to play video podcasts on my TV by connecting my iPod touch to the TV via an Apple AV cable. Now that I've upgraded to ios 6 and the podcasts app got installed along with the upgrade, video podcasts will no longer play on my TV. It should be noted that other video content (movies, TV shows, etc) will play properly. Is there a setting I need to make that will fix this, or is this yet another bug with the podcasts app? Also, I have to say that I'm not happy at all with the Podcasts app, so if there's a way to uninstall it without harming the functionality of ios 6, that would be great.

I found a workaround that puts podcasts back in the video app as well as the music app so you can watch them on TV via an AV cable again.
The instructions can be found at this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaI9GwPKXkE
In short:
1. Make sure both the music and podcast app aren't running on your iPhone.
2. Plug your iPhone into your computer and disable Podcast syncing for your iPhone in iTunes.
3. Remove the podcast app from your iPhone
4. Plug your iPhone into your computer again and turn on podcast syncing, then sync.
5. Turn off and then back on your iPhone.
After I did this, I found podcasts had returned to being listed in my music and video apps.
Hope this helps you too!

Or is the Podcast app for some reason designed so that you are unable to output a signal via the AV cable when playing back video content (this would be a pretty bad decision on apple's part). Also, I have to say that I'm not happy at all with the Podcasts app, so if there's a way to uninstall it without harming the functionality of ios 6, that would be great.
