HD video proportions to iBA Media Page
I need to hire a video for use as full-screen on the Media Page in iBA. The video i've selected is in HD format. When i insert the low res test version from the library it works fine but appears with black bars top and bottom of the page. Obviously this is because it's showing it in the correct proportions for the video - which do not match those of a full-screen iBA page.
I've tried unchecking 'constrain proportions' in the Inspector. This allows me to stretch the video at the iBA stage, but when i preview it on my iPad it just reverts to it's correct wide-screen ratio proportions.
I would appreciate any ideas on how to get around this?

There are a number of video transcoders available that allow you to change the aspect ratio of a video without distortion, so you don't get the black bars at the top and bottom or left and right. Obviously, this involves cropping the video so it fills the target aspect ratio, meaning that you will lose some content on the left and right (when converting 16:9 to 4:3) or the top and bottom (when converting 4:3 to 16:9).
The alternative is to transcode without cropping, but then you have to distort the video, so things are squished in either the horizontal or vertical direction.
A Google search should get you going.

I use yahoo.com as my "news" page. In the last month or so there are more and more small format videos next to the new article. Used to be just a still pic, but now more "invasive". If I had my way I'd still click on "text only" like the old modem days. I want to READ an article, and I find the video images on their main page, before clicking on a story, to be distracting. Yesterday I installed the "No Script" extension thinking I could block Just these videos, but doesn't seem to work that way. It blocks most everything including interactions like clicking on a button.
If I examine the "object" (video) it appears to be an "html5" item. This seems to be something new from what I can google.
There are a few help screens for html5, but these are "how do I play them" instead of "how can I block them".

Try to set the media.autoplay.enabled pref to false on the <b>about:config</b> page.
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

2 videos playing in the same page

Hi All
I've got a new issue, I have a page with 2 animated graphs (as MP4). It seems that there is a conflict to auto play the both video, because one appear with a skin controler (not asked to) + the video stop before finishing to play.
I've test by deleting the second video... Then it works....
How do you manage to have 2 videos in the same page ?? do you have the same problem?
I want to avoid Jpg Sequences as they are much more heavy

Apple does not allow playing multiple videos at the same time. they are
affraid your ipad will crash vecause of it's limited memory
never tried multiple videos after each other.

Why does iTunes delete my library every time I turn my computer on? All my music is still on my computer but when I open iTunes it comes up with the scan media page. I have to redo my playlists and it takes forever. Can someone help??

All my music is still on the computer and in the files. I don't know why it keeps doing this, it's really annoying as I have loads of music and then have to do my playlists again just to sync my phone. Can someone please help??

Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be copied and renamed asiTunes Library.itl to restore the library to an earlier state. Look for a recent .tmp file that is similar in size to the .itl files in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder. If it has happened repeatedly you may want the earliest such file generated since the last iTunes upgrade.
If applicable, see iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. Even if you have the media you can use selected steps from the tip to ensure that you don't lose settings and data from the device as a result of switching libraries.
A large number of users with this issue have been using AVG Anti-Virus which appears to be implicated in the problem. AVG have released a patch which might help, so if you use AVG then I would update that first. I'd also be interested to know which AV you use in case others may cause similar issues. I recommend excluding the iTunes folder from any real-time and scheduled AV scanning process. Another possible cause could be automatic backup tools.

Can no longer view video files in Adobe Media Player!!

For some reason I can no longer view video files in Adobe Media Player.
My computer has reverted all my files into one Adobe Flash Player document.
Any help with this would be very appreciated.

No video tab in adobe media encoder cs4

I'd like to change the bit-rate when I export, but I have no video tab in adobe media encoder cs4 v4.2

I found the video and audio tabs etc.
First open in, "device central".
And then if you have "basic settings" displayed you still can't see the "bitrate" and "advanced settings".
You either have to scroll down, or close "basic settings".
And then all is revealed.

You may be in the same boat as me.
I deliberately bought a refurb Feb 2011 MacBook Pro, because it would have originally shipped with Snow Leopard. I have to run an application for my job, which does not run under Lion.
Unfortunately, Apple is now upgrading all Snow Leopard machines, before selling them as refurbs. I purchased a legal copy of Snow Leopard, and have tried various downgrade solutions that I found posted on the net, without success. No matter what I do, it always goes into "three beep mode" after trying to install Snow Leopard.
The latest development came this evening, while I was talking to the "geniuses" at Apple. Apparently, there is now a firmware revision that loads the first time you run Software Update under Lion, and it locks the machine so that it can't revert to Snow Leopard.
The only option they have been able to offer me so far, is to return the machine and get a refund. This is maddening, as I HAVE to have a Snow Leopard machine, and can't find any other way to purchase one.

Media pages are not publishing

After adding a few media pages to my website, iweb says that it is successfully published, but the pages do not appear. Started when I tried to add a media page with quicktime move.

i found the error!
little snitch on os x blocks something (i dont know what exact) of adobe in the background. i have no rule defined for adobe in little snitch, so everything of adobe can go out.
when i stop little snitch, everything works fine - photoshop opens videos without the medialink error, photoshop starts up in seconds and premiere starts without a quicktime error.
i report the problem also to objective developement to fix this!

Cannot view or play audio or video coded for windows media player, and do not see javascript

I designed a website that uses a little bit of JavaScript. It displays fine in IE (9), but not in Firefox. Does anyone know why, and what the fix is?
Also, and more importantly, I coded audio and video files with Windows media player's class id. They will not show or (obviously) play in Firefox. I downloaded and installed the plug in for Firefox, but no change. I'm sure I'm not the only one to have run across this problem, and I'm surprised that Mozilla hasn't built a fix in the 4.0 version. So, any ideas out there?

Firefox won't play the media file if there is a classid specified in the object tag. You either need to use conditional code to hide an object without classid for Firefoz from IE or use an embed for Firefox.
