HD Wouldn't hook up (Reboots by itself)

It started with the hard drive spinning with an APPLE logo on the screen. A few seconds lated it would restart automatically with a click sound. Other forums talk about ways to fix it using the computer but my iPod won't connect to it because it's stuck in reboot mode. I also tried the Run In option but when the HDD line appears it chirps and starts over. The HDD SCAN passed so I'm lost.
PS: I have a 15G iPod with the 4 touch buttons on top. Also the last time I've used it I drained the battery (since it won't boot up I can't recharge it ).

Ilia,
Try giving your iPod a solid whack on the backside.

  • [SOLVED] PC reboots by itself after grub

Hi all, like in the tilte, when I turn on my computer, it reboots by itself just after grub, no error message is shown, it just reboots. I can boot to my Windows partition though.
I tried to boot with the partion directory (/dev/sdX) instead of UUID. I also tried to boot without boot options and I still have the same result.
Thanks for your answers, and sorry for my bad english!

  • The printer m1214 mfp reboot by itself

Product name: Hp LaserJet M1214nfh MFP
    O. S. : XP SP2
    Error message: Printing fax
    Changes: nothing
Description of the problem: When the printer start up, the word " initializing ..." appear on the LCD
after that the Ready screen appear for  10seconds after that " printing fax " appear for 3 seconds after that the printer reboot by itself and repeat the same things again and so on.
i make update the firmware but the problem still exist.

    Hello,
Thanks for the post.  With your M1214 behaving as such, I might recommend a product reset which should take it back to factory defaults.  I've included a link below that will assist with that process.  If that does not resolve the issue, we might look at getting the printer back to a ready status (if possible) and then running the FW update again.  Do not interrupt the FW update until complete.  Good Luck!

  • S920 reboot by itself..

my s920 reboot by itself anytime it want..what can i do..??
and i cannot update the system..help please..

    Hi Robert
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
    Sounds like a power problem?
    1. Check to make sure that the mag ring on the power cord is push firmly into the back of the iMac.
    2. Check that there are no other motor driven household appliances on the same wall circuit.
    3. Check and replace an old surge protector.
One other thing you might do to help isolate a external power problem is, go to: System Preference > Energy Saver and Uncheck the box "Start up automatically after a power failure" then if and when the iMac loses power it will shut off and not restart.

  • Blackberry device time is changing whenever the device reboots by itself

i have encountered it numerous times that my bb9860 will reboot by itself and will notice that the device time would somehow be on year 2037 or even more advance.
that solution that i apply for this is to delete the sms messages and do the basic of pulling out the battery and put it back again...then it will work but after some time same issue will happen again.
hope there's a way for this not to happen anymore.

    Try re-installing your device software.
    Read this:

    Good luck..

  • Why after installing iOS 7 my iPad started to reboot by itself, my battery lost autonomy and the iPad got slowwwwwwer?

Why after installing iOS 7 my iPad started to reboot by itself, my battery lost autonomy and the iPad got slowwwwwwer?

For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).

  • Ipad 4th Gen Siri runs by itself and reboots by itself

Ok SO I have this wacky Ipad 4th gen that was stuck in reboot mode with low battery.
I got past that and restored the Ipad now the thing will start Siri all by itself without me touching the home button and some times for no reason it will just shut down and restart by itself.
It seems on occasion the Sleep/Wake button will not communicate with Ipad or possibly teh Home button is stuck or something ad I have found that SIri starts all by itself and I cannot back out of apps some times by using the home button.
Could it possibly be something going on with teh home button itself and how would I go about testing it and possibly fixing it? Are they connections that can be cleaned with electrical contact cleaner? I have a couple different types that I use on my Peavey Amps and my Behringer Mixer so I know they are safe for plastics and switches, buttons , linier sliders etc..
I was in process of buying this from my neighbor then his wife wanted it back and it started erroring so she opened it and I am not sure if possibly it could of damaged a Ribbon or possibly teh memory cpu?
I cannot see anything obviously wrong with ribbons etc. Except the Digitizer cable did get bent and kinked a bit but it seems to work fine.

If the neighbor's wife opened the iPad up for any reason at all, I surely would not want to purchase it now. She may have done damage to it and I wouldn't take the chance.
If you don't want to shell out the cash for a new device, buy a refurb from Apple and get something reliable or some thing that at least has a warranty of some kind.
Leave the iPad and it's repairs for your neighbor and walk away.

  • Last Wednesday my iPhone 4 shut down automatically and it wouldn't let me reboot for about a half an hour. It finally rebooted and then it started with the batterty drainage and no service, going in and out of service. What's wrong?

Hi everyone... Last Wednesday my iPhone 4 shut down automatically... I had battery. It took about a half an hour to reboot it. After that I started having trouble with going in and out of service and battery drainage. I do have that update 5 ios... or whatever its called... but I did that about 2-3 months ago and had no problems. I called Apple and they wouldn't do a **** thing for me. I called AT&T and they reset the network... didn't work. I did a hard shut down and didn't work. Now today, every call I had was dropped. So of course this morning when I woke up at like 8:30 am by 10:30 am my battery went from 100% to 35%. ***. Can someone help me???

  • Why does my iPad2 often reboot by itself?

My iPad2 has been working fine since beginning. However, it starts to reboot itself while I am watching online video or browsing with Safari. I tried to reset it via iCloud, the the problem persists, please advise,

    Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset  ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    If no joy...
    Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.
    Note:
Also consider Deleting any Apps you have Purchased / Downloaded but you now never use...
    If the issue Persists...
    Perform a Restore...
1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.
Make sure you have the Latest Version of iTunes (v11) Installed on your computer
    iTunes free download from www.itunes.com/download

  • Why does my iPad 1 shut down then reboot by itself?

We have a first gen iPad that suddenly has begun shutting down by itself, then rebooting. Of course, it's just out of warranty (by 2 months). I've read some posts that suggest it is battery related, others that it is related to software. Any help from the experts out there would be great!

    Hi amy,
I really doubt it is battery related, as batteries usually last a few years, however in some rare occasions there could be some form of fault.
It sounds like maybe there are some dodgy connections inside the device, which only a repair can solve.
Try restoring your iPad in iTunes - Plug the device in, and click restore under the summary tab.
If this doesn't help, I reccomend heading to an Apple Store and booking a genius appointment - these are free even if you have no warentee. Here they can discuss options with you, and will offer you a discounted replacement price. As your warentee ran out so shortly before the problem arose, they may be able to offer an exemption, ask nicely!

  • Modem reboots/resets itself after 5-10 min movie stream

I have an Apple TV 2 and a 2Wire 2701HG-T Gateway. The problem is like this:
    1. I start to stream an HD movie (2 to 4 GBs) from my PC (Windows 7) to ATV2
    2. After 5-10 min my router/modem reboots itself and all devices lose connection to internet
    3. When my router/modem is back up (after 2-3 min) all devices regain connection to internet
    4. I start the movie where I left it and it happens again after a random amount of time. (Sometimes it doesn't happen again and I can finish watching my movie)
    Importat notes:
    * My router/modem ONLY does this when I stream large HD movies from my PC, if my ATV2 is off and I'm downloading stuff, browsing, etc. It works like a charm, this just happens ONLY when I use my ATV2.
    * I don't lose connection with iTunes (Home Sharing). My problem completly shuts down my whole network and as soon as it is back up ATV2 finds iTunes with no problem and I can resume my movie. So it's not a Home Sharing/iTunes issue.
So that's it, any ideas what the problem might be?

Our Cisco Linksys WRT610N did this too. Every few days it would crash and reboot itself while we were watching Netflix on the AppleTV. I bought an AirPort Extreme a few days ago and it hasn't happened again yet. Too soon to know for sure but my hunch is it isn't going to crash like the Linksys did.
Sorry I don't have a solution for you. I think it boils down to most consumer routers being junk.

  • Satellite L745-S4210 - screen frizzles & reboots by itself

My satellite is about 8 months old.  1st condition was screen going crazy - i had to hard boot it.  next condition was the laptop rebooting itself with no warning - sometimes when entering keystrokes, sometimes when doing nothing.  sent it to Toshiba - they replaced system board.  got it back yesterday.  booted it up - within an hour the screen frizzled and while I was taking pictures of the screen it rebooted itself.  any ideas?

If it's not the physical drive or possibly even the memory, this would suggest software. Have you tried "safe" booting the machine and see what happens. Give it while, run what you can and see if you can reproduce the issue. If the problem doesn't re-occur, try removing all the "startup" apps and registry "...\Run" apps temporarily. (If you would like detailed instructions, please ask). There may also be some services causing this issue, which you can also temporarily disable. Finally, you could try booting from media (USB, DVD, etc.) and just let it set for a while and see if the error occurs. Perhaps it's a thermal problem?

  • BB curve 9360 hangs and reboots by itself

my BB curve 9360 freezes for 10 mins quite regularly, bought it only 2 months back.
It reboots itself automatically no. of times without any reason.
I clear the cache from browser and other apps regularly, is it because of too many apps installed? I was told by someone that many people having this model of blackberry are facing the same problem, is it so? what can be done about it ?

    Hi sunny95arora
We can't say that they come through your Carrier network. So its better to use a call blocking application. As for OS is concerned yes you can install 7.1 in your device you are not bond or limited to your Carrier you can use any Carrier OS packagesall you had to do is just delete two vendor .xml files.

  • K7N2 Delta reboot by itself... (NO POST)

    Hi folks,
Last month I bought a K7N2 and since than it sudenly reeboot by itself...
The best way to simulate this problem is when I play 3d games such as Need for Speed2 Hot Pursuit, but the pc can also reeboot even when you are reading the news on the web or when the system is idle.
Temperature is always ok. Even so, it can also reboot at 38°C.
I've got a doubt on the 12 volts. The bios reads 11,55V when it start up. Can this be the problem? Is this 11,55V ok for the machine? Anyway, I've already tryed other 3 power supplies and all of them shows 11,55V for the bios.
OK, I've already get the bios update to 5.8 but this problem used to happen with the preview version of it too.
If you have any ideia, please post it, please

    Hi dude,
I've just replaced my psu again (this morning at the store I bought the first one), so I'm sure this is not the problem.
But the bios still has 11,55V stead of 12v or somewhat close to this value. PC Alert shows 11,55 too, but it may go down to 11,34 when I play 3D games as NFS2HP.
My multimeter reads 11,98 on the psu. Strange, isn't it!?!?
    Thanks!

  • 20" iMac (early 2008) continuously reboots by itself.

    Hi.
I purchased a used iMac that had a "NTLDR is missing" error.
This should be just a windows bootfile that I thought that I'd be able to fix by installing a Mac OS X to the iMac.
Well, it happened to have another problem that the computer reboots itself about minute after power is turned on and it keeps on doing this forever!!
I haven't been able to even diagnose it with Hardware Test since it wont stay on for so long. I opened the aluminium body and checked the 4 LEDs inside. All the leds are turned on and during the self boot all except the first go off.
I have ordered a new DC/Sata/inverter cable (http://www.screpairinc.com/ccpc1293-24145-apple-922-8188-20--imac-aluminum-ac-dc -sata-power-593-0693--593-0852-922-8188.htm) and will see if it could fix the problem.
I have found several related problems but never seen actual solution! Is there????
Is it logic board, power supply or waht that is damaged?

You do realize that iMacs' graphic cards are soldered onto the logic board; Apple will not replace just the card, they replace the entire logic board if under warranty. That means that it is probably not possible to replace just the card. But, even if it is, the procedure is very tech knowledge demanding; I had a logic board replaced under warranty and the tech started by removing the screen, then Superdrive, hard drive and a slew of other parts until he reached the logic board. In other words, the computer was pretty much in pieces - there wasn't much left inside the casing.
