[HD2400] no boot after a FAILED UPGRADE flashing bios, how to recover ?

hi guy !
because i had theses problèmes, i decided to flash my bios but the flashing operation crashed and my PC doesn't reboot ! how to recover my bios ?
the symptoms of my problem:
- windows display a "bizarre" bios information (advanced display property ) with XXXX instead real number
- in my case , it displays 512 Mo for my HD2400 256Mo !!
- and some resolution like 1680x1050 (for 22'' monitor) don't display correctly (hasardousat reboot)
- also, during video playing (whatever codec and player), there were any dead pixel always at the same place
so i decided to flashing the bios cause Windows didn't managed to identify it !
now, i just tried to flash the bios with the 6.10 release here :
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=130&prod_no=1248
but i had a error message "upgrade failed".
at the computer reboot, no signal and so no beep from the motherboard !!!
maybe my motherboard will boot a floppy disk without signal and beep, i don't know but maybe...i hope
doesn't anyone know how to build a autofloppy disk restore VGA bios (with WinImage) and send me to [email protected] ?
help please, i sweep

i will go back to the shop and i will say "Live update crashe during its bios update procedure " !
That won't work, flashing BIOS voids warranty.

You either clear the CMOS, or don't boot your board.

  • Satellite M200 doesn't boot after RAM 4GB upgrade

    Hi,
I recently upgraded my RAM just to speed things up a little as RAM is soo cheap these days.
    I have a M200 T2130 Vista came with 1GB (2*512) sticks.
The new sticks are 2 *2GB Dane-elec DDR2 pc2-5300, when I put the two in and rebooted the hard drive light came on briefly and then it just stayed idol, no POST, Bios options.
I tried using a single 512 stick with both new sticks and they both work in a 2.5GB setup just not together also this only works when the 512 stick is in the more internal slot and not the other way around.
So if anyone has had a similar prob or can give me some advice that would be great, I'm not to sure if the motherboard can support 4GB?
    Thanks, Dave.

    Hi
There are two possibilities why your M200 doesnt boot after the RAM upgrade.
Firstly the installed RAM could be not compatible or could be faulty or the notebook doesnt support the 4GB RAM.
I dont know what M200 do you have exactly but you could check the installed chipset and could check on the Intel page if this chipset would support the 4GB RAM.

  • Macbook pro will not boot after snow leopard upgrade

My GF has had a macbook pro since mid 2008.  It's been running like a champ since I've known her for the past 3 years with  no issues.  It has/had OSX 10.5.8 installed.  We tried to consolidate all our pictures from all our apple devices and realized she didn't have an icloud on the old 10.5.8 OSX.  So I called apple and they told me to order and install the snow leopard OSX 10.6 first and then upgrade to lion etc after that,  Well we got the disk yesterday popped it in to install and it's been a disaster.... the computer shutdown for what looked like a normal restart during the installation process and never booted back up.  Attempts to manually reboot leave us locked on a grey apple logo screen with spinning gear indefinately whith the Snow Leopard disk installed during boot up.  With the disk removed I get the flashing file folder with a question mark.  I called apple support we tried all the PRAM and SMC resets and then decided that we should go  to the Genius Bar once all those failed.  After an hour and a half drive to the nearest genius bar we were told that the we suddenly had a hardware issue which just happened to coincide with the new OS installation....  I'm not buying it and am looking for some help.  The macbook was running like a champ until we inserted a disk recommended by apple...   Any takers?

You have a five year old computer, so a failing hard drive at this point is not so strange. You have a couple of options you can try. Start with this one, but if it does not work you will have to erase the hard drive. I hope you have a backup of all your files.
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • OS will not boot after Snow Leopard Upgrade

I have a MacPro (Intel). I just upgraded to Snow Leopard and everything appeared fine. However, after restarting my computer the OS will not load. A circle with a hash through it replaces the Apple logo and the apple's spinning wheel continues but all drive activity. I have tried to run the install again by forcing the computer to open the dvd drive then booting for the OS DVD but this has not worked. Has anyone experienced this and successfully resolved?

  • My MBP doesnt boot after update / Prohibition sign flashes twice and then goes straight to OX Utilities

    Hello all,
I thought I would never be here, but I am.
After updating iTunes and Memory Clean in App Store (nothing unusual) my MAC stopped booting properly.
    MBP / early 2011 / Mountain Lion
It shows the Apple logo flashing twice the prohibiting sign (cancel circle), after that it goes straight to the OS X Utilities.
    Note:
    - It recognizes the HD and the Recovery partition.
    - Verify permission shows a lot of /Applications/iTunes issues, but I have repaired like 5 times and still showing issues.
    - Hardware test passed OK.
    - Repair disk, no issues.
    - Shift (safe mode) doesn't work (lot of flashing ? folder, apple logo, etc).
    - PRAM restarted, twice.
I can't reinstall or launch the ML installer, when I go trough the install process which mandatory requires Internet connection and AppStore login, it states: This item is temporarily unavailable. Try again later.
Please help me, I'm desperate this is my production machine and I'm travelling.
    What I'm missing?

You cannot reinstall Mountain Lion from the App Store, but you can install Mavericks which is free and will run on your computer. Here's what you do:
Install or Reinstall Mavericks or Mountain Lion from Scratch
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Macbook not re-booting after installing the upgrades

    hi,
Yesterday i did the latest upgrade on my macbook. i was then prompted to re-boot which i did. but now after the reboot all it does is that shows me my background screen for a second and fades back to the blue screen non-stop. i counted 10 repeats of that before i manually turned it off. any ideas?

In the future I suggest that instead of relying on Software Update to do the work you go to Apple Downloads site and manually download and run the updater required. Also If it's a system update repair disk permissions before and after. Some think it's overkill but better safe than sorry.
Try booting into the Safe Mode which automatically does a file system check and repair. It may take a while for the boot to finish as the file system check and repair will take some time.

  • Can not boot after the last upgrade [solved]

    Hi all,
I upgraded my system this morning, but when loading I get the following error:
    ata2.01: failed to IDENTIFY (I/O error, err_mask=0x4)
ata2: failed to recover some devices, retrying in 5 seconds
It says so for 3 times, then continues and ends with a kernel panic.
Any idea what might have gone wrong?
    Best regards,
    Jan

    Hi again,
Thanks to good guys on IRC, my problem is a sort of solved. The solution was basically to go back to the old IDE subsystem on my Intel box and wait until the kernel and the respective modules get more stable before trying the transition again. More precisely, I did the following:
    1) in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf removed pata, sata and scsi hooks and put back the ide hook (and then of course ran mkinitcpio again);
    2) in /etc/rc.conf blacklisted ata_piix and ata_generic;
    3) in /etc/fstab and /boot/grub/menu.lst changed the device names back from /dev/sda* to /dev/hda*.
I hope there will be some announcement on Arch website when it will make sense to try the new system again.
Thanks to everyone who helped to sort this trouble out,
    Jan

  • Arch Won't boot after lockup: "Failed to read file" [SOLVED]

So like many stories, this one begins with a "Sudo pacman -Syu".
Everything was updating fine, but then my system locked up.  I let it set for awhile, but when I couldn't even get a console, I finally rebooted (yes, bad, I know).
I was about half-way through the upgrading process.
Now my system will not boot, and I only get a "Failed to read file" error.
I chrooted into my system through the live disk, and managed to finish the upgrade (I had to fix a few files, and reinstall some manually). I tried a "mkinitcpio -p linux," but no luck.
Is there anything else I could post that might be helpful?  This error does not tell me a whole lot.
    Thanks!

  • How to recover from no-boot after unsuccessful software upgrade?

I have an Intel Mac Mini running 10.4.6. I did one of the larger software updates (a security update for Intel, I can look up the details at home if necessary) that requires a reboot. The machine crashed during the upgrade. After turning it back on, it no longer boots.
I'm not sure exactly what went wrong during the upgrade. I think the upgrade had completed and was waiting for a reboot. I walked away from the machine, someone else logged in and the system hung for them, forcing them to power cycle.
I have tried various boot-time keypresses; none of them work. The only way I can get the machine to boot is if I connect by firewire to a different machine.
What are various recovery steps I can try? Is there a way to back out of the update? Would disk repair work? Is there anything I can do short of a reinstall of the OS?
The usual Googling hasn't turned up anything specific. Thanks for your help.

I had not tried booting from the install disk.
I tried booting from the install disk while holding down the 'C' key. This allowed me to reinstall the OS and restore my old user settings. My machine is back to the way it was. Thanks.

  • OS X not booting after Vista SP1 upgrade

Ok, so I have this really bad problem with my OS X drive.
It's stuck at the grey screen with the loading thing continuously loading without starting OS X.
This all happened after I upgraded my Vista to Service Pack 1.
When going back to Vista a pop-up appeared (from Mac Drive 7).
    http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/2734/capturehu8.jpg - The Pop-up.
Also had a pop-up that said the drive was corrupt.
I've tried using my Leopard install Disc to use Disk Utility, but it can't verify/check or repair my OS X drive.
Tried to reinstall OS X, but it asks me where I want to install it on, but doesn't show me any partition.
Now what can I do to fix it? (preferably without erasing anything)
Also, I've been thinking about completely removing OS X and replacing it with Vista...is it possible and could I still reinstall OS X later if I wanted to?

I've read bad reviews of MacDrive causing corruption.
I use Ultimate and its complete backup PC and file backups so covered there. And same for OS X with multiple SuperDuper clones along with a TimeMachine backup. Covers that side.
Vista SP1 needed to move files around a lot and some 5-7GB (depends on version etc) temp space during the process. So I ran CHKDSK and System File Checker before hand. And boot from Vista DVD and see if you can do anything if those two don't help.
One of the biggest problems is getting too low on disk space.
For OS X, I swear by Disk Warrior 4.1. I would install OS X on an external drive rather than use the DVD, make it your "emergency boot drive" and run DU and Disk Warrior from there.
Those that have backups are ready. And always backup your OS X volume before you apply updates and patches on it as well. You may never need to if you plan for and do some maintenance.
I'd dump MacDrive though. And for OS X, I feel safe / okay with NTFS from MacFUSE 3G.

I bought the Mountian Lion upgrade and it installed fine on my MacBook Pro, and the machine worked fine yesterday.  I performed a normal shutdown, and today it won't boot up.  The Apple logo and the spinning pinwheel is all I get.  Is there a known issue?
