HD7850 Crossfire with A88X-G45 issue

I am posting this in mainboard and graphics card areas as I am not sure where the problem lies at this point.  In short, I cannot get the system to recognize both cards to enable crossfire.
I have the A88X-G45 Gaming board, and 2 MSI HD7850 cards, but for some reason the system seems to refuse to recognize the second card with or without the crossfire connector.
I have swapped the cards position and know both to be working, both cards have power, the system is not under powered at the PSU, I have updated the bios, I have stripped everything out multiple times and done it with one card and added the second after the fact etc... In short I have done everything I can think of to do yet it refuses to see both cards.
Any hints appreciated

On checking the bios I for this it was not set, and I have now also disabled the integrated graphics, still no joy.
It does not appear the board is detecting the second card at all as the board explorer in bios is not showing anything connected to the second PCI-E slot that is labels as a X8 slot.
I know the card is good, if I put them in one at a time in the primary slot they work fine.
I have the crossfire cable disconnected trying to get the system to see both correctly as ive read that what is needed.
I wasn't sure at first if this was a MB issue so I posted in that forum as well but it looks like the mod there removed it
any further help appreciated

    Hello,
I  replaced my dead "mb" with new "A88X-G45 gaming" and also instaled "win 7 64 pro" and have realtech driver problem.
On fresh windows instalation sound is working but when i install my drivers given on cd or downloadwd from MSI site my sound is not working.
One moment sound icon in system tray in normal next when i try to do something like try config sound device it sitches to disabled.
If I try to open some program using driver says : no audio devices are installed, when i click repair in troubleshoot sound problems it say it is fixed,
but in a few sec if you try to do anything sound is back to disabled. If u go in speaker properties it say the device you are configuring has been removed.
When i deinstall drivers i have sound but offcourse i want my drivers to work properly my config :

  • Other CPU options for A88X-G45 motherboard

I am working on a new AMD build which includes the new A88X-G45 motherboard. I would like to use the new AMD Athlon X4 860K Quad Core, but see no info about it's compatibility with the A88X-G45. Also would like to know what coolers would work best for clearing the memory. The memory I plan to use is the G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000). Two of the towers I am considering have a 158mm cooler clearance
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Hi,
About the new Athlon: it might work as it's still Athlon. However BIOS update might be required. Best if you ask MSI if BIOS will help it:
    >>How to contact MSI.<<
My advice is that you look for different brand of RAM. GSkill are not working best with MSI boards, and there is big chance you will experience issues. I suggest Corsair, Crucial or HyperX. Apart from that, 2133Mhz won't give you any performance boost compared to much cheaper 1333Mhz RAM.
For memory clearance: I suggest you pick some low profile RAM and it will be a good way to go. Unless you have a window in the case and want to see it nicely, then some low profile cooler should be good. Can't say which one, as many are big enough to cover at least 1 RAM slot. Therefore low profile RAM would fit it most.

  • A88X G45 Gaming losing display signal

I have just rebuilt my computer. I elected to go with the A88X G45 gaming motherboard with an AMD A10-5800K Trinity Quad Core 3.8 GHz. G. Skill Ripjaws X Series 8 GB DDR3 SDRam 2133(PC17000) (2x4 GB).
When I start the computer, I do not hear any beeps at all which I found interesting. I log into the BIOS and it recognizes everything installed and which ports are being used. I am using the onboard graphics card until I get everything set up and then I will add a separate GPU. After installing Windows 7, I log on to update the drivers before doing anything else. I have done this 2 times, once from the DVD provided with the board and once from a flash drive downloading the current ones off the msi website. After installing the chipset drivers and rebooting back into the Windows desktop, the monitor will go blank and state "no signal." This happens between 15 seconds and 5 minutes. I have tried the DVI, VGA, and HDMI ports on the board and get the same result with all of them.
The lights on the board stay on and the fans are still running. The reset button and power button do not do anything and the only way to power down is to turn off the power supply, which I hate to do. The LED table that displays codes does not show anything as if it is off. My mouse and keyboard similarly shut off.
I have tried checking the RAM, updating the BIOS, removing everything except RAM, CPU and PSU and still get the same result. I have 5 fans plugged in including the CPU fan.
I am really at a loss here and cannot figure out why I keep losing display connection and having the board essentially lock up. Any advice is greatly appreciated. First time forum user.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Please follow this >>Posting Guide<< in more detailed way (PSU, OS etc).
Also did you try clearing CMOS? >>Clear CMOS Guide<<
Also when this started to happen? As which parts are new and which old.
Main Board: MSI A88X G45 Gaming
    Bios Version: v1.2
    Video Card: On board
    PSU:   Corsair 750W
12v rail Rating of listed PSU: Unsure
CPU: AMD A10-5800K Trinity Quad Core 3.8 GHz
    Memory: G. Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB DDR3 2133(PC17000) (2x4GB)
    SSD/ HDD: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB SSD
CPU COOLER: Stock cooler that came with CPU
    Raid Card:
    Sound Card: On board
Any Additional hardware plugged into your system: LG optical
    OC: (Yes / No) NO
Operating System: Windows 7 Home 64 bit
I have tried clearing the CMOS with the button on board but have not tried taking out the battery. Everything that is currently installed is brand new (Board, CPU, RAM, Optical, SSD) with the exception of the PSU. I have had the PSU for a few years and have not had any issue with it on my old build. I was using my old build 3 days ago, got the board, CPU, RAM, Optical, and SSD all the same day and installed it. When I am on the BIOS screen, the display connection stays on and I do not have any issues. Similarly, I do not have any issues when I run Windows in Safe Mode. Only when I log into Windows normally will the screen go blank and lock up the board.

  • MSI A88X-G45 Dual mode graphics help

Greetings I bought the A88X-G45 GAMING AC edition with an AMD 7850k APU, the Radeon gamer series 2133 DDR3 and the Sapphire R7 250 2GB
I would love to enable this amazing Dual mode that AMD so proudly shows but i get issues. and yes i googled myself to dealth before coming here.
First of all there is like NO Tutorials anywhere usefull to the MSI brand on how to dual mode your graphics. Heres is what i have done.
    (1st) i watched this
(2nd) I installed the card and put my HDMI into the Cards output like shown. When i turned on the computer i got a windows 8 unsigned device error and had the choice to disable the support or run set up.. well you get one choice in the end cause it loops over till you disable windows 8 support.
    (3) set the output to IGD and selected dual mode with a 2GB shared memory. save and reboot i also put my HDMI to the onboard output just like the video after reboot the computer shows the boot screen then the rotating circle as windows loads. Then Nothing a black screen. The computer is running but no display. just a black screen there must be a signal going to the monitor as there is no "NO Signal Detected" popping up it's just a black screen nothing more.
So i restarted the computer went to advanced settings and put the output to (PEG) saved and restarted the computer and all i got was "No Signal Detected" on my monitor so after after a while i rebooted the computer and put my HDMI to the card this time. All was good the computer boots and windows loads onscreen. I installed AMD Catatlyst 14.4 and it shows a dual mode option but says for best results i should use the primary graphics port. and the green arrow points to my APU but every time i try all i get is a black screen.
So MSI why do you not have proper detailed instructions on how to make this work.   Thanks

I tried MSI R7 250 2GD3 OC and the dual graphic works when output from on-board VGA.
Did you set share memory as default setting?
I set it as default but did not see any issue.
    Hope it is helpful info.

  • MSI A88X-G45 GAMING code 11

I got my new setup back in May of this year. Haven't had any issues except just today. While browsing the internet and playing Runescape getting ready to play some Dota2. When my screen kind of went all pixel'ated like all different colors then shut down.
It won't even start now. I can't even force it to post by unplugging everything except cpu/fan and one stick of ram. It won't even post and it displays 11 on the digit display on the board. After looking in the manual that came with it. It says it is a Early CPU initialization. I have no idea what that means.
I had my friend who knows more about hardware come over and look at it. And he said it is most likely a motherboard issue.
So what do you guys think? If it is a motherboard issue how do i send the board back.

I have today recieved the new memories...
    The Gskill Trident X 2x8GB 2400mhz 1.65v 10-12-12-31.
So in total is 16gb of ram.
I putted on the board powered up... System recognized memory alterations and ask me to go to bios.
    So far so good...
I went on bios an choosed the XMP on the board that correctly detected the timmings and voltage.
    Saved and reseted.
I then entered again in bios and started to notice that only 8GB of my 16GB are visible to the system...
The board detect BOTH dimms, and even in board explorer they are marked on the slots, but i don´t understand where is the rest of the memory...
The board is an MSI A88X-G45 Gaming and im using the last bios 1.5.
I went to windows, and in CPU-ID it detects the 16gb of memory, but on task manager it says i only have 8gb available...
I can´t make any sense of this contraditory information...
    Can anyone help me????
I have putted the memory on the recomended slot positions (2 and 4)
    Please check pictures bellow...

    HDD: Seagate Barracuda 500 GB
    PSU: VisionTek 650w
BIOS: (Im assuming, since I cant boot into it, but it does give this on the "F1,F2" screen) E7900AMS V1.0
Ive reset the CMOS, Ive tried one stick at a time in every slot, Ive tried numerous keyboards and mice, Ive tried it out of the box, Ive tried it with several HHDs, Ive tried VGA and HDMI monitors.
I get stuck on the "99" error and after CMOS resets, it asks to press F1 or F2 and both freeze it up immediately.
Ive even made a bootable USB to update the BIOS, but it doesnt even some close to recognizing it... I drove 5 hours today to pick up this setup and am not looking forward to having to drive it again to return it... I would greatly appreciate some help with this...

Ended up being two bad memory sticks... I drove a total of 10 hours in two days, then got home and put it all together... They tested both new sticks and when I got home, one stick was bad... When did memory get to be so fragile? I used to toss it around like a bean bag... Ugh, so one more trip back to replace my memory again...  Anyways, I got the rig to run, but I only have 4GB in it for the moment. So, question, is one 8GB stick better than two 4GB?

My wife's brand new iphone4 (which was a replacement for a 4month-old iphone4 with home button issues) is not recognized by itunes. Every other ios device on  the computer/Apple ID in question is recognized and syncs perfectly. Any suggestions?

If the new phone has already been setup, make sure the phone and iTunes are both set to the same account.
You might also have to authorize this computer for the new device under the store menu.

  • What is the best way to deal with memory leak issue in sql server 2008 R2

What is the best way to deal with memory leak issue in sql server 2008 R2.

What is the best way to deal with memory leak issue in sql server 2008 R2.
I have heard of memory leak in OS that too because of some external application or rouge drivers SQL server 2008 R2 if patched to latest SP and CU ( may be if required) does not leaks memory.
Are you in opinion that since SQL is taking lot of memory and then not releasing it is a memory leak.If so this is not a memory leak but default behavior .You need to set proper value for max server memory in sp_configure to limit buffer pool usage. However
sql can take more memory from outside buffer pool if linked server ,CLR,extended stored procs XML are heavily utilized
Any specific issue you are facing

  • Virtual desktop template creation with UR1 - two issues

There are two new issues affecting Virtual Desktop template creation with WMS 2012 with UR1.
Issue #1: Some systems fail to create a new or customized virtual desktop template with UR1 applied. UR1 includes an updated MultiPoint Connector which is compatible with a UR1 host. The Connector gets included in the Virtual Desktop template
so that the virtual desktops can be managed by MultiPoint Dashboard. On some systems installation of the UR1 Connector will require a reboot that takes too long to complete and template creation will timeout.
If you try to create a template without doing the following update to the unattend-t.xml file, and if the Connector reboot takes too long, the template creation process will never complete, appearing stuck at 80% until the timeout. If you check the running
Virtual Machine Connection, you will see an error message that Windows could not complete the installation.
    To correct this:
From MultiPoint Manager or Hyper-V Manager, shutdown the running template VM.
Delete the template .vhd stored in Public Documents\Hyper-V\Virtual hard disks
     3. a) Make a backup copy of
    C:\Program Files\Windows MultiPoint Server\Unattend-t.xml
               e.g. rename it .bak
    b) open
C:\Program Files\Windows MultiPoint Server\Unattend-t.xml in your favorite text editor.
    b) find “connector” in the file
    c) replace this string (starts with <Path> and ends with </Path>)
    <Path>powershell -Command &quot;try { $process = Start-Process -FilePath &apos;%Windir%\Temp\Connector\WmsConnector.Exe&apos; -ArgumentList &apos;/Quiet&apos; -PassThru -Wait; } catch { throw &apos;WmsConnector
    Install Failed&apos;}; exit $process.ExitCode&quot;</Path>
    with this string
    <Path>powershell -Command &quot;try {
    $p = Start-Process -FilePath &apos;%Windir%\Temp\Connector\WmsConnector.Exe&apos; -ArgumentList &apos;/Quiet
    /NoRestart&apos; -PassThru -Wait; } catch { throw &apos;WmsConnector Install Failed&apos;}; exit $p.ExitCode&quot;</Path>
then save the file again as Unattend-t.xml
    d) Proceed with Create and Customize virtual desktop template, and Create virtual desktop station as described on our blog at
    Virtual Desktop Templates – Part
    1 & Part 2
We continue to investigate why this issue occurs on some machines and not others
Issue #2: UR1 was intended to fix an issue creating virtual desktop templates on true UEFI systems, i.e. systems that don’t fall back to legacy support for earlier BIOS services. UR1 did not solve the issue. For now we are recommending
doing template creation on systems that do fall back to legacy BIOS services. To check: from Device Manager under Disk Drives select your system hard drive. Double click and go to the Volumes tab and click Populate. The Partition Style entry should
be Master Boot Record (MBR).  If it is GPT you have a UEFI system.
We continue to investigate fixing this for UEFI systems.

Any word on a UEFI fix?  My instructions on the other thread seem to work for me.
Also, I imagine this won't be an issue on the next version of MultiPoint Server since the next Hyper-V in Server 2012 R2 now has those native UEFI VM's.  Have you guys played around with that yet?  Also, FWIW, I'm not sure why the pre-release docs
mention that UEFI is only supported on Windows 8 VM's.  Why not x64 Windows 7 and Vista SP1 VM's?  I thought those already support full UEFI boot.  Is it because Hyper-V has mandatory restrictions to have Secure Boot turned on for UEFI VM's?

  • For those with pixel rendering issues and slowness issues

For anyone who doesnt know these little details when designing in Catalyst, I thought I would share and hopefully ease some peoples frustrations. Lets kick off with pixel issues.
You have either vector, raster, or components that are either: not aligning with everything else around it, even though it has the same X/Y value, the rounded corners of a rectangle vector object are distorted, or anything else you have experienced with pixel distortion or pixels just not lining up properly. Here is the issue. When you drag and drop an object from the library, wireframe components, or draw a new shape, it can have a decimal level pixel value. It does not say this in the property inspector though. So you may have a rectangle at a listed X/Y of 10,15 but it could actually be 10.3, 14.9. To fix this you have to type in a new value of at least 1 number higher or lower. Deleting the value and typing the same number in doesnt do anything. Neither does moving it with the arrow keys in hopes of it moving it to a whole pixel value. The arrow keys move by 1 pixel (or 10 if holding down shift). This should take care of most of your problems.
Now you may still have problems with the corners of rounded rectangles if you converted it to an Optimized Vector Graphics. For you Flash Pro users, from what I can tell, using "Optimize Vector Graphics" is basically the same as (in Flash) converting a vector shape into a MovieClip and in the property inspector, checking the "Cache as Bitmap" box. That option has Flash create a bitmap version of the vector shape so that it will not be re-drawn every frame, which is what the Flash player does with vector objects. So because it is converting your vector into raster, it kinda has issues with rounded corners when you have a stroke on the shape and pretty much only if you have a stroke. If you take the stroke off, and use Optimize Vector Graphics, you shouldn't have that problem anymore. But what if you needed that stroke? Simple, duplicate that shape, change its fill color to what you want the "stroke" color to be, increase its size by 2 pixels on the width and height for every number of thickness that you wanted with the stroke, and then set the X/Y of the "stroke" rectangle to a pixels less for whatever the "thickness" of your stroke is.
    Example:
    Rectangle - width:20, height:10, desired stroke thickness:2, X:10, Y:10
    Rectangle Stroke - width: 24, height:14, X:8, Y:8
    Rectangle - width:100, height:30, desired stroke thickness:1, X:15, Y:27
    Rectangle Stroke - width:102, height:32, X:14, Y:26
It wont look perfect but its pretty close if you do this and then draw a rectangle beside it with a real stroke. And if you still want to use Optimize Vector Graphics on it, just group the two rectangles together and then use Optimize on the group and no more distorted corners. This also applies to vector shapes in Flash Pro.
Lastly to talk about the slowness of Catalyst. You may or may not have read the posts from Adobe employees, but I can tell you that having fewer states helps with the responsiveness of it, but so does using the Optimize Vector Graphics as much as possible. I am working in a large scale project, and just from me converting all my vector background shapes, which was around 13 used across 6 main states, it helped significantly with Catalyst being more responsive for me.
Hoped this long post helped some people with any similar issues you might be having.

I noticed with my Charge phone that when I get a call the FIRST ring is highly muted (quite soft) and then all rings after that are full volume.
I wish that even the first ring was load (full volume) but I accept the fact that that is how GB 2.3.6 works.  Anyone know how to change this?
    Ya can't win 'em all.

  • Outlook with Exchange connection issues

I am implementing a security policy which includes blocking all outbound traffic on the firewall of our network (Except normal 80, 443 etc). It seems
that if I apply this, some users aren't able to connect to exchange. This appears to be related to Outlook Anywhere. What ports would I need to allow to prevent this connection issue?

    Hi
As per the information and details provided by you, to solve the Outlook with Exchange connection issues, Please follow these steps: -
    Microsoft introduced
RPC over HHTP as a better way for Outlook client to connect to Exchange. The MAPI connections still use RPCs, but they encapsulate those with an HTTP connection. Since that HTTP connection is secured using SSL, it is may be
more accurate to call it RPC over HTTPS. These connections only require connectivity
over TCP port 443, which as you know is assigned to HTTPS and is normally open by
    firewall admin for web servers.
    Outlook Anywhere wraps
Remote Procedure Calls inside an HTTP layer to allow connectivity with the Exchange server. This simplifies the firewall administration process requiring only
the SSL port 443 to be opened to the CAS (Client Access Server) instead of several ports to the actual Mailbox Server (MBX).
I hope this information will be helpful for you.
    Thanks and regards
