HDCam to DVCPro HD Green screen---best way to go?

Green screen shoot on HDCam 29.97p. No have HDCam ability. Should I:
-send out for dub to DVCPro HD and then either
-capture by firewire from 1200A Panny deck
or
-from AJA card by HD SDI?
Will either give acceptable results?
Or gonna have to bite the bullet and send tape and a hard drive
somewhere and have HDCam captured to get acceptable
stuff to composite with?
Thanks in advance.
p2

If you dub it to DVCPROHD, that's where the "damage" is done... so won't make any difference capturing thru HD SDI or FireWire quality wise... But stay at 1080... don't go down to 720... as long as that machine of yours plays back 1080... better look into that for sure.
It should still be OK though as far as the green screening ability because it's still in a 4:2:2 colorspace.
That said, If you could capture from the HDCAM via SDI and go to ProRes... you'd be better off in theory.

  • Best approach for green screen over multiple clips?

So I know this may fall under the category of after effects, but starting with a project in premiere with many clips and cuts, what would be the best way to apply green screen over all of these clips? I'd think that making all of these clips after effects compositions would be excessive and not the best approach. So is there a better way to go about doing this?

In these cases it's best that you test with one clip before going all in and having to change direction after much is done.  You can get by with Ultra Key in PPro if the screens are done correctly and clean enough.  Much will also depend on the expected result.  That is, you may wind up doing lots of tweaking for shots that might not pay off if they're quick/action, etc.  I usually go round house for AE involving complex shots that need to be really clean, but have opted for Ultra in PPro for quick clips with action.  When I do use Ultra Key I use more than one instance of the key.   So, test it both ways and use this as an opportunity to know the Pro's of both methods.

Are you deliberately excluding PC owners so we cannot use ituens on our computers???? I have selected a community but have no idea what community I should be working with. Can somone explai these communities to me? Also. you don't allow much time to go thru the sign up process. I had to start over SEVERAL times as you kept timing me out. Jesus...when people are signing up for the first time, we have no idea of the questions that will be asked. Give us a break and give us time to sign up. Not everone is disability free and able to go thru your process quickly...you are NOT user friendly. You should be for people who are wanting to join your community. I used to want an Apple product but now that  I have had first hand experience with your web page, I think I will probably stay away from Apple products. VERY DISAPPOINTING

  • The best green screen work flow for FCPX

I over 300 clips done in green screen. Some clips are 10 seconds some are 5 min. I need to prep them for import into Motion 5 where they will be keyed and background graphics will be added.
The way im doing it now is dragging the chosen shots into one storyline then do one massive export of all the clips to one clip.
Does anybody have a better way of doing this?

Right now there is no roundtripping available for clips in FCPX --> Motion --> FCPX. Your only option is via your current method (export/reimport), or as James said, start your workflow inside Motion.
Use the Feedback page to enter the feature request to Apple (I've done this already myself).

  • Best way to draw thousands of graphic objects on the screen

Hello everybody, I'm wanting to develop a game where at times thousands of graphic objects are displayed on-screen. What better way to do this in terms of performance and speed?
I have some options below. Do not know if the best way is included in these options.
1 - Each graphical object is displayed on a MovieClip or Sprite.
2 - There is a Bitmap that represents the game screen. All graphical objects that are displayed on screen have your images stored in BitmapData. Then the Bitmap that represents the game screen copies for themselves the BitmapData of graphical objects to be screened, using for this bitmapData.copyPixels (...) or BitmapData.draw  (...). The Bitmap that represents the screen is added to the stage via addChild (...).
3 - The graphical objects that are displayed on screen will have their images drawn directly on stage or in a MovieClip/Sprite added to this stage by addChild (...). These objects are drawn using the methods of the Graphics class, as beginBitmapFill and beginFill.
Recalling that the best way probably is not one of these 3 above.
I really need this information to proceed with the creation of my game.
Please do not be bothered with my English because I'm using Google translator.
Thank you in advance any help.

Thanks for the information kglad. =)
Yes, my game will have many objects similar in appearance.
Some other objects will use the same image stored, just in time to render these objects is that some effects (such as changing the colors) will be applied in different ways. But the picture for them all is the same.
Using the second option, ie, BitmapDatas, which of these two methods would be more efficient? copyPixels or draw?
Thank you in advance any help. =D

what is the best way to clean a soft screen on a laptop

i dont know what you mean by "a soft screen", but read this: To clean the screen on your MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air, first shut down the computer and unplug the power adapter. Dampen the included cleaning cloth with just water and wipe the screen. Do not spray liquid directly onto the screen.

  • Best way to handle login screen, transition to app

I've got a working app in flex (I'm an "advanced beginner")...and now want to add a login screen ahead of the app.  My question is what is the best way to do so?  My options I see are:
    1. Login via HTTP screen: The is quick (no app load time), but not as pretty and harder to send parameters to the flex app.
    2. Flex login screen using viewstates/stack: I could create a login page and upon successful authorization, I could switch the currentstate (view) or use a viewstack to show the application.  This doesn't feel right - having the entire app in a viewstack or view state seems wrong somehow...
    3. Flex login app  which launches my main flex app:  I have no idea if this is possible, but feel right.  Quick load time to login, and no need to keep login app/screen in memory during main app execution.
Can someone share a "best practice" ??  Thanks

I'm not sure if it is best practice, but we are doing it as you described in #2. Our app isn't all that huge ( about 700k) and we decided we'd rather have the wait time while the app loads prior to login, rather than have them wait a long time after they submit their login.  It is also nice for us to keep it all in one Flex project.  Just thought I'd share what we are doing.

  • What is the smartest way to apply green screen effects in premiere elements for mac?

Videomerge looks messy and difference matte kills the foreground and difference video entirely, leaving only the background

    Mike Way Jr
What version of Premiere Elements are you using on your Mac computer?
Did you apply the Difference Matte write up that I posted? Many Premiere Elements Windows and Mac users have reported using the technique described for Green Screen.
    http://www.atr935.blogspot.com/2013/05/pe11-difference-matte-as-substitute-for.html
I have not heard of any alternative for the Premiere Elements Mac user other than go Premiere Elements Windows.
Please review and let us know the outcome.
Just not to take anything for granted, I ask "Have you reviewed your green screen prep work?"
    Thank you.

  • What's the best for green screen filter  Color Key or Chroma key?

What is the difference, and what is the best choice for a person standing in front of a green screen.
    Color Key or Choma key?
Which offers the most solutions for dealing with variations in the green background, such as occasional wrinkles/seams in the fabric.
    Thanks
    Rowby

I did mean Adobe Ultra or previously Serious Magic Ultra. I have no personal experience with Primatte, but have heard very positive reports. For relatively simple work with a good green/blue screen, which is properly lighted and not too much wrinkles, Ultra is easy, fast and effective, but it pays to have a look at the tutorials on how to setup a proper key. When you have rather bad lighting on the screen, Keylight is better and adds more flexibility, but is harder to master than Ultra. It also lacks the MSL (Master Set Libraries) capabilities of Ultra, but if you have never used Ultra before, you may be hard pressed to find any of the MSL's from the Serious Magic era around. Adobe has apparently stopped selling those, apart from the basic one which is included with Ultra. Maybe Karl Soule or Mark Mapes, previous Serious Magicians, can shed some light on the future of Ultra in the Adobe portfolio.

  • Best way to call screen in BOR method

    Hi,
I'm new to BOR objects. I have a requirement to create to a screen to accept values and perform validation on the value.
As I'm using FOP(EWBC), So in the steps the best way looks like using BOR objects.
Can any body please guide me what is the best way to create and call a screen in the BOR method?
    Thanks in advance

IMO the best way is to create a Function Module and call it from your BOR method

  • Best way to deal with different screen sizes

    Hi !
We have been a small company using java for our client ( http://www.topbridge.com ) . The Swing client has used panels with absolute positions so the client would fit in 800x600 screen. Since java is 'run everywhere' we would like to rewrite it so it also possible to run on smaller screens ( zaurus ) . Any suggestions about best way to do this? Is there any layout method that would try to fit everything within a given screen size?
    Thank you!

The Swing client has used panels with absolute positions
Well there's your problem: your UI was written by someone who didn't know how to write a UI.
Always sketch your UI on paper, break it into logical sections rather than dealing with everything in one go (your code should break down accordingly in any case) and for each of those sections determine where space should be allocated when resizing - from this, the decision of which layout managers to use will fall out naturally.

  • Is there a way to green screen and do a picture in picture in iMovie

I was wondering if there was a way for me to be able to do a green screen and picture effect at the same time
Or in other words, is there a way to select two of these at once?

    In short : No.
    … but there's a workaround:
create a project with green screen first, export it, re-import it to iMovie, apply pic-in-pic ...
Or, dare the plunge to a professional tool, FCPX …

  • Best Way To transfer screen elements to ABAP variables

    Hi all,
whats the best way to attach the abap elements to screen elements
normally earlier versions before 4.7C i always used TABLES : MARC in abap program
and in screen design i used to click "GET from DICTIONARY" to design the screen in Screen painter
The advantage with this approach is all data base elements are attached to our screens like search helps
atomatic checks etc and more over all the information valid for a particular plant are retrived by the system search helps themselves like
for example on the screen we have screen elements/ fields  Plant , MRP controller.
in the plant i typed  "X110'.
now in the mrp controller i pressed F4 to search for valid mrp controller . Since we associated the screen elements with database elements with TABLES statement all the MRP controller relevent to that plant X110 are displayed. this is quite valid.
But i read usage of tables : in Object Oriented abap is Obsolete is this still the correct way of programming.
I can also use Some thing like this Data : st_marc type type MARC.
and in Screen design i can click "Get from program" This approach will loose all the database assignments to screen elements.
Now i can no longer retrieve the MRP controller relevent for plant 'X110'. F4 will show me all the MRP controllers in all plants.
Is there any other approach to do this. Thanks.

  • Green Screen the easy way

We were in San Francisco today down at Pier 39, a very popular tourist attraction that has many appeals to locals as well.
We were walking from Fisherman's Wharf to Pier 39 and we came across a big green board, angled slightly, and perfectly lit by the mid day sun. I thought it might be fun to take a few photos of people walking past the board and try to key them out when I got home. I believe that is why the board is there. I sat back quite a ways away and used a ISO 200, f5.8, 1/640 sec shot using a 120mm focal length (240 on a 35mm camera)
    Here are the pictures:
I took the photos into Premiere Pro and used Ultra to key out the green, and applied a garbage matte to each pic. Pretty easy, I have keyed out the blue sky before, but a green screen lit by sunshine was a new experience.

Yes, there are a lot of buttons. But when you stop to think about what they are, you realize you don't use them all the time. Certainly not while you are shooting. And the reason there are lots of buttons, I think, is because people hated using a menu, so the things that get changed most have buttons.
Let's take the most common button/wheel. The menu button is your friend. You will get to know it pretty well. But you set it up at the beginning of the shoot and seldom go back to it unless something changes, like you want to change the type of video you are saving or the number of photos in a burst. Things like that. You really won't do that as much as I do, because I am still experimenting.
The quick menu button gets used, but still, only when something changes. Not so much while you are shooting.
Pretty much, you turn on the camera that is already set to shoot RAW using full Manual including manual focus, you adjust your aperture and your shutter speed (each has its own wheel) in order to get the on screen exposure meter to go to zero (or a step below), you zoom to where you want to be by turning the lens, you focus and press the shutter button.
Not exactly point and shoot, but I want full control. You may prefer to use one of the program modes. Some people do. Especially run and gun types.
OK, so now you have taken some pictures and you set the camera on the tripod or GorillaPod, use the Wireless button to connect your phone to your camera.  That is a handy button but it isn't like you are pressing it very often.
ISO and White Balance. I pretty much set ISO at 200 and leave it there unless I can't get to the numbers I need with f stop and shutter speed. White balance? OK, that's a different story. There are those days when you are in the sun, in the shade, in the sun, in the shade. On those days the WB gets a bit of a workout.
However, keep in mind you probably have a few settings you use the most often. A sunny day with ISO 200 shooting 16:9 instead of 3:2 or 4:3 because you will be using it for a video. That would make a good preset for one of the buttons you don't use very often. Like the WiFi button perhaps. Using the menu for that is probably sufficient, especially since you don't have a smartphone yet.
