HDCP Compliant one day, then not the next

For the last few days, iTunes has decided that my computer is not HDCP compliant then, for no discernable reason, it changes it's mind and it suddenly is. I don't get it.
Anyone else have this problem?

I figured it out.
If you watch a Video in Steam and try to use iTunes, it freaks out and decides that since the video card was being used for something else, it can't possibly be available for its finicky ***.
Therefore, close Steam, close iTunes, reopen iTunes, it once again feels okay and let's you give them money.
That generous POS.

Apple Remote, worked one day and not the next

I have searched the forums. The remote app worked perfect the first time I used it. Now it does not. It can not find the shared library, and if I ask to enter a new passcode, it does nothing. The device is talking to the computer because I am asked to enter the passcode. But then it spins, does nothing and eventually gives an error beep, and four blank boxes to reenter the code. I have followed all the advice in various posts.
Any more thoughts? The first day, this was genius. The second day, well, it bites.

If anyone has an answer, let me know, but I believe I have identified this as an iTunes issue on my computer, not a Remote issue. I am able to link my remote to the other computer in my house, just not mine. I have tried trashing iTunes plists, but no help there.

Video works one day and not the next...same person; same computers....HELP!

Hello all...
Okay, I was (video) chatting yesterday with someone (had no problems) and today the video won't work. It's happened before, nothing has changed between yesterday and today. Same users; same computers. It's incredibly frustrating. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. I've been trying everything; opening ports, adjusting quicktime streaming preferences...everything discussed in other posts in this forum regarding error -8.
I really hate iChat...I think it's unbeliveble that Apple claims to be so better that Windows, but I never had problems wits MSN video.
But let's try to solve this irritating issue. What kind of messenging software do you have instaled/open when you try to use iChat?
I have Skype installed. When I deinstalled it, everything was working fine (so I thought). Next day the same BS all over again.
I could use skype to videochat, but I have an .mac account and I want to use iChat...the f&^%$*g .mac account is to expensive not to use...And do not forget that iChat AV quality is way better than Skype.
I really hope Apple comes with a solution soon.

Welcome to the Apple Dicsussion Pages.
The Alcatel Speedtouch 585 proabably has version 5 firmware on there. I see form your post you know what the problem is.
This can be the problem.
Earlier modes in the 500 series had Firmware versions 3 and 4 which meant you could telnet into them form the Terminal Application and Unbind SIP from port 5060.
This is what is causing the problem.
The symptoms are a starnge pattern of succss and failure.
A small group you can contact all the time
An equally small group of now and then success
And a large group of Buddies that you can never get AV chats with.
ibosie who posts here says he has been in caontact with Alcatel and that they are working on a Firmware update to get round this.
At this stage another modem would be the way to go. (the 510 and the 580 can be Unbound)

Calc Script runs slow one day and fast the next?

We are on Essbase 11.1.2.1. When we run calc scripts to load our actuals and run some allocation scripts, the difference in running time for the same exact script is very different day to day. One day three hours the next 45 minutes. Our servers are just for Essbase. We are on Windows 2008 R2. Has anyone else run into this or have any idea how we could figure out the reason for this. In that case, I would try to grab the cube statistics - especially number of upper-level and input blocks, compression ratio and fragmentation (in EAS you can only see one of the two fragmentation statistics, 'Average Clustering Ratio', not 'Average Fragmentation Quotient') before each run, just to see if they're varying wildly. Also, if your calc scripts log summary information (is there a SET MSG command in them? If not you could try SET MSG SUMMARY) then Essbase will write high-level statistics on how much work was done to the application log.
You can see which cubes are loaded (and consuming memory) in the EAS treeview - if they have a check (tick) mark they are loaded. But you can also see current activity by right-clicking on the server in the EAS treeview and selecting Edit | Sessions. That will show whether there are other operations (loads, calcs, reports, restructures etc) occurring at the same time.
If none of the above give any clues and this is a virtual box (or you have SAN storage) you really will need someone who understands your infrastructure to help.
I'm assuming these are BSO cubes, by the way!

Podcast Works on a web browser one minute and not the next.

We are having an issue with a Podcast working on Safari/Firefox one minute and not the next. Our teachers add Podcast to their web pages and then post it on our web server. Teachers, using Safari and Firefox, maybe able to open their podcast one day and then not the next. Has anyone had this problem? We have the most up-to-date Quicktime. Any information would be helpful.

There is no reason to put it in DFU mode, a reset should work. Although, without a working power button it is not possible to reset the device.
Sounds like it is time to replace the damaged device.

I was using my Design Standard 3 one day, then got the message I did not have access to this program - contact Adobe; a rep said uninstall/reinstall. The reinstall failed. What can I do next?

Uninstall seemed to work, but adobe folders remained in program files. Reinstall just gave the message that an "error occured" with all the design standard components. I did not install any new software between one use and the next. I had installed a new virus program the previous day. (windows vista operating system)

Re: the advice of 1-12-15 about troubleshooting the error, the below directions came from that trouble shooting website. In black (***) is what I found when I tried to follow those directions.

RippedOffByAdobe I would recommend reviewing the installation logs to determine the cause of the installation failure. You can find details on how to locate and interpret the installation log files at Troubleshoot installation with install logs | CS3, CS4.

I am aware that many people, like me, have lost the ability to mirror their iPad, iPhone or computer with Apple TV. Has anyone yet found a solution? One day it worked, the next day the option to switch between the device and Apple TV had disappeared.

Has anyone managed to resolve the problems encountered with Apple TV and the loss of ability to mirror iphones, ipads or computers? One day it was working perfectly, from all the above devices, the next the option to switch between playing on the device or mirroring to apple tv had disappeared. I have tried all the obvious such as updating iTunes, turning all devices off and then back on, but nothing is working. Help please!

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Your problem is most certainly network related, you might try restarting your devices including your router as a temporary solution, but in the long term would be better correcting the problems with your network.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.

BROADBAND here one day, gone for the next 5!! what...

weve been having problem with our broadband for months now. it goes through phases of not working.
randomly prat way though using our wireless internet our router broadband button will flash orange, and will stay like that for days, then randomly like today it will start working again.
at the moment on average its on for 1 day out of seven.
iv tried putting the cable in the tester port on the wall socket and its the same from that.
last time i phoned bt i was told it was a fault our end, and we needed to get an electrician out to fit a new connection box, but surely if im still not getting signal via the test socket its not my end?

i phoned bt yesterday. firstly i was told my account was in fact closed hence no internet. this was wrong.
the next person i spoke to was very helpfull. after several tests he said he would get an engineer on teh case, would take approx 4 hours and someone would call me back between 2-4pm yesterday. no one ever phoned.
today having taken 50mins to get through to teh right department (even though i phoned the same number every time) it seemed no one wanted to speak to me.
i got told theer was an area problem and thats why it was working. she would not take it from me that the problem had been going on for months. she wouldnt help me, she would not listen to me, i feel so stressed i feel like crying! im paying for a service that i am not getting and no one from bt wants to help me!

My itune won't print. One day worked, the next no. printer works fine but when trying to print itunes it does'nt even show in the printer que.

Before you tear out your hair, follow the steps that Casper recommends. It works in minutes. The reformatting will mean you will have to reload your music, but that's better than tearing out your hair for sure. I feel lucky to have stumbled across the following instructions before too many hours went by. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!
Windows users: If you are not able to restore the iPod, you can try to format it:
Open Control Panel
Click the "switch to classic view" link, if necessary
Double click "administrative tools"
Double click "computer management"
Under "storage" click on "disk management"
Find your iPod's listing
Right-click on it and click "format"
Select "FAT32" and start the format
After this, your I-TUNES should start up and ask you to register the NANO again, but at LEAST IT RECOGNIZES IT again. WOOOO HOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Computer will recognize iPOD one minute but not the next!

I have the 60GB iPOD and have tried everything to get my computer to recognize it. I have a laptop running on Windows XP. It will recognize the iPod in the Itunes and on the computer for only minutes at a time, but then clicks off and loses the connection to my computer and won't come back until I restart my computer. Anyone have any useful information for this headache?!

Hi I have had similar problems with the ipod but think I know the problem without being techincal.
My Ipod sometimes would connect and sometimes not. I could not find a pattern besides a random one. However I looked at "my Computer" view where I could see the hardisks. When the ipod connected with a "removable disk" it would not work with Ipod and you could not get access to it.
Then I tiried and tried (always on the usb on the back of the computer) changing between the two connections.
When the computer then recognized it as the name I have given the ipod "JFR IPOD" it would then work with I tunes without any problems.
However .... this is the trick for me... when using the USB on my laptop and my wifes it works without any problems 20 out of 20 times....... Where I can see the Ipod in "my computer" as a disk named as my ipod and NOT just as removable disk.
This concludes for me that the USB on my computer - which is USB2 on a 3 year computer does not work as it should. I again assume that this is due to the fact that the IPOD is not powered by a remote source while being connected. This due to the fact that Maxtor USB2 transporable harddrives works without any problems whatsoever.
I now need to check if an external USB2 HUB with external powersupply will work on my computer. If that is not the case I need to try a Firewire connection and have it installed as a card.
All this was done by Trial and error but know I know that (apparently) is not due to a misfunctioning ipod.
Hope this helps for some of you. Bring the IPOD to a fairly new computer and connect is. If it then connects as a ipod with the name you have given it it will work with Itimes as well.

Clips there one day, and gone the next

I just finished editing everything just right on my movie and was making some last minute tweaks on it, so i finished up and closed it out. The next day when i come back to it, there's little yellow exclamation signs in the bottom left corner of all the clips i extended/shortened and they won't play anymore. Whenever i try to play the movie, the tumbnails for the clips still remain the same, but the screen is blank. I guess i can redo them and resync the movies but i'd like to know a way to avoid this problem in the future. thanks

Neva mind yall i found out what it was. It seems that i renamed my event in iPhoto that the clips i used in iMovie came from. All it took was goin back into iPhoto and deleting the event title causing it to rename itself back to "untitled event" and everything went back to normal. Hopefully nobody will have to edure the massive panic that i just experienced.

Drop down menus disappear in a blink of an eye. If I open more than 10 tabs I can't get to them, the arrow takes me back to the first 10. Only in FF, IE works fine. Tried safe mode and no change. It was fine one day and then not the next?

Did you ever figure this out? I bought my iPad last week to use in my business as well. I assume you are trying to use alldata? That is where I noticed this same issue. I had problems with identifix working with safari but downloaded a different browser and that works fine. Alldata does not work with either browser. The main difference is that on identifix if there is only one engine selection, it automatically selects the only option and continues to the home page. With alldata you have to make the selection manually even if there is only one option. Honestly if I can't get this to work I am going to return the iPad as it looses a significant amount of usefulness to men
