HDD Crashed, can't find my disk

We'll my old MB Late 2007 HDD crashed a year and a half or so ago, and I still haven't found my disk to re-install Leopard.  I want to toss in a new HDD, switch my new RAM from my MBP to my old MB when I upgrade my RAM, and use it as a dedicated computer for my TV.  How would I go about re-installing Leopard? I can only upgrade to Snow Leopard , right?

Contact Apple using expresslane.apple.com if you are in a country that supports it or call the appropriate phone number on this page. They can get you the install DVD you will need for your MacBook's software.
Be aware that the RAM from your MacBook Pro may have different specs from the MacBook. RAM is cheap, you need 200-pin PC2-5300 (667MHz) DDR2 SO-DIMM.
The Late 2007 MacBook can run Mac OS X 10.7.4 (Lion) assuming it has sufficient RAM and hard drive space.
Best of luck.

How can I create a start up disk for a old intel core duo running 10.5.8.. Computer works fine, but can't find install disk. Want to use internal disk drive or USD flash drive.

Try calling 1-800-676-2775.  Give the serial number and thy *may* still burn you new install disks designed just for the hrdware in your system (for a fee, something like $160 per disk).  *May* is only because they may not burn disks for Leopard anymore.
If they do not burn them for you, you can buy Leopard disks off Amazon or eBay for about $200.
Have you considered Snow Leopard?.  Those disks only cost $19 (single user) or $29 (5-user license) through Apple by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE.

Can we find ASM DISK on which a DB datablock exists ?

    Hi,
Yes in some cases I think, its not easy though - it would also be dependent on how your disk group is configured, for instance if you have variable extent sizes then it will be much more difficult.
Why do you need to do this?

I accidentally deleted garageband and I can not find the disks how to recover it?

Replacement System Discs can be obtained from Apple's Customer Support - US (800) 767-2775 for a nominal fee. You'll need to have the model and serial number of your Mac available.
If you're not in the US, you may need to go through the regional Apple Store that serves your location to find the contact number - http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Images/intlstoreroutingpage.html

  • Copied files to USB HDD - now can't find them!

I had to reinstall my wife's macbook so I backed up all her files to a USB HDD formatted as MS-DOS (FAT) [according to disk utility]
I then reinstalled and tried to find the files which do not show up on the USB HDD (shoulda checked!)
I've seen posts alluding to having the drive formatted Journalised but they all refer to having done that FIRST.
Are my files history? Is there any way to get them back? Help!

Thanks so much for helping me with this.
I must admit, I didn't pay too much attention when importing this "test"
group of photos to LR4, therein lies my problem.  Now that I look at the
    import settings that were used:
    1. Files were not added or copied, they were "moved" to a new location and
    also renamed.
    2. Files were renamed starting with "264" using my regular import template.
Listed below are the first 10 photos with their original LR3 and he
    changed LR4 names.
    1201_001 changed to 1201_264-2
    1201_002 changed to 1201_265-2
    1201_003 changed to 1201_266-2
    1201_004 changed to 1201_267-2
    1201_005-Edit-Edit changed to 1201_268-2
    1201_005-Edit changed to 1201_269-2
    1201_005-Edit changed to 1201_270-2
    1201_005-Edit-Edit-2 changed to 1201_271-2
I have a back up of my images on an EHD from several days ago which has the
original file names, but this backup only has 203 of the 268 images I
    imported yesterday and are renamed.
    Thanks again,

  • Can't find a disk to install OS X Lion

    Hi,
I have a MacBook Pro (late 2011) with OSX Lion.
My HDD crashed 2 months after my guarantee ended (obviously). I have a backup for all my personal files, but no reboot disk.
I have replaced the HDD with an SSD (Samsung SSD 840 Pro 256gb) and did an internet recovery.
When installing OSX Lion, I am asked on which disk I would like to install, but there are no disks in the list.
Did I miss anything? Looks like my computer doesn't recognise my SSD.
I have launched Disk Recovery, same problem: the SSD doesn't appear in the list.
    Would appreciate some insight here!
    Thanks
    Damien

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
You have to format the SSD before installing Mac OS X. Start in Internet Recovery holding Command, Option (Alt) and R keys while your computer is starting.
Then, open Disk Utility, look at the sidebar and see if the SSD is listed. If so, choose it, go to Erase tab and format it with "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)". Finally, close Disk Utility and install OS X.
If you don't see your SSD in Disk Utility, make sure that everything is connected properly. If everything is connected properly, you can try connecting the old hard disk and see if it's detected. If not, it's possible that you have damaged something, so take your MacBook Pro to an Apple Store or reseller. If it's detected, I recommend you to return your SSD and get a different SSD

  • Lightroom can't find external disk by itself

Since uprgrading to Lightroom 2 (currently 2.2) I'm having this strange problem (this is on a Macbook Pro (OSX 10.5.6).
I keep my photo's and my catalog on an external SATAlink harddrive. Often when I start Lightroom, it tells me that it can't find my catalog and gives me the option to manually browse for it. When I select my external drive, I notice that somehow there's been added a number to my external drive's name (the current name that LR uses is 'external disk 8', where the disks real name is just 'external disk'. The pattern is such that when I'll open LR tomorrow, LR will probably not be able to find my catalogue, and when I browse for it, I'll find that LR (or my OS?) has renamed my external disk to 'external disk 9'.
Also, LR hasn't been able to locate my catalogue backup folder (which is also on the external drive). I have to manually direct LR to the backup folder each time. I guess this is the same problem.
If anybody has a clue what the problem could be, I'd very much like to hear it. It's not a huge problem to browse for the external disk when LR starts, but it's anoying nevertheless...
    Richard

    Richard-
Delete your Prefs file, always make sure your external is mounted before launching LR, then launch by double clicking on the proper .lrcat file. I'd frankly change the name of my external. as anything that even looks like a default name is a no-no in my book.

  • Windows can't find air disk

I have been searching for a long time now and can't find any answer how get my windows xp to connect to air disk..! Can anyone help would be greatly appreciate.
( I use air disk to share data in office, not to syn or anything )
    Thx

You need to install the Airport Base Station Disk Agent software that comes on the installer disk with the Airport Base Station. You might be able to download the software from Apple, too. This will put an icon on your system tray that allows you to access the AirDisk.

  • System can not find hard disk

After starting up my macbook Air, a blinking question mark pops up. I switch off the laptop. Restart the laptop with 'ALT' button pressed. 'Disk Utility program' does not show the 'macintosh HD' disk. So apparently it can not find it. Your advice is appreciated, how I can refind the hard disk

thanks, unfortunately no positive impact. Hard disk can still not be found. I also executed the tips as mentioned in:

and these also did not resolve the issue. So any other suggestion is welcome

  • Can't find restore disk for 10.2

Have a 2003ish imac & can't find the restore disk & would like to sell imac. How do I clean it? What can I tell the next person that wants to buy?
Is there a way of replacing that disk from somewhere?
    Thanks

You can use Target Disk Mode to zero out your drive, and you can call Apple Customer Relations 800-767-2775 if you are in the US, and see if they have the install discs for your machine.
If you can't get the discs, you should buy a retail copy of the latest OS your machine can run, and use that both to remove your data, snd to give to the purchaser.

  • Can't find destination disk when reinstall the Mac OS

Get some problem and need to reinstall the OS, placed the installation DVD and could not finished the process - it stopped at cold not find the destination disk to install the OS. Please help

    Hi folks
I have the same problem with a 2nd generation G5 iMac. I tried to erase and install Tiger (retail version bought from Mac Store after consultation with Mac support), failed and hung up for 6 hours until I switched the thing off and my hard drive icon no longer appears in the startup list. I can't even reach options stage on install procedure - my hard drive icon has GONE! So no utilities from the Install disk. The mistake I may have made was to try the Unix erase and Install procedure.
I have tried to get in using my mac mini as target drive but this seems not to offer a way out of the s**t! - can't find a way of reinstating a hard drive icon for the iMac in the startup folder.
Any bright ideas out there or do I need to get a new Apple formatted hard drive?
    Many thanks.

  • Factory reset can't find my disk

hey, I installed the maverick developer preview 10.10 and came across the most annoying thing. my mac froze and after re-sating it I got the apple symbol loading screen but it wold only load it half way. safe mode produced a flashing folder with a question mark so I strayed to factory re-set it. In the lion installation it appeared that the mac cant find its disk, in disk utility it display "disk0" and "Mac OS X Base System" but non of the options work. please help!.

Unfortunately, no one here can or is allowed to help as we are not allowed to discuss anything about not yet publicly released software and your problem was obviously caused by your install/uninstall of a beta version (which can cause havoc on any system). Please post your question in the special developer forums Apple makes available to you (if you are a developer); if not, you do not have a legal copy of it since the beta has not yet been released to the public.
