Milan,
You can easily try doing clean install Vista OS from the ISO file , if you're able to clearly & legibly read all the 25 character alphanumeric product activation key printed on the COA label on the back of your laptop. Additional drivers can be got from Driver support page I mentioned.
There is no need of OEM Vista from recovery media anyway , if you're not able to get it. Most probably HP will not have the Recovery discs for an old machine that I know of.

Select 'Fail-safe' option to recover from DVD, this will wipe all existing partitions and restore the notebook as you purchased it (all data will be destroyed).

  • Restoration Fails with HP recovery disk. Will ordinary retail copy of WIn8 install OK?

I'm having weeks of pain trying to restore an HP Envy m6 that failed a couple of days outside its warranty.
I've tried reinstalling from the original recovery partition and recovery disks burnt from the original recovery partition.
These both failed with the error.  Detect some error during PININST_BBV
Diagnostic checks suggested the Hard disk might be failing so I've replaced it and bought a new set of HP Recovery disks which HP believed would solve the issue. However I get the same error. Detect some error during PININST_BBV
The installation in all cases appears to have gone fine.
I strongly suspect the HP recovery process is faulty but HP want to charge be a 34 pounds just to speak to someone for a few minutes.
Does anyone know if I can install an ordinary copy of windows 8 bought in a retail store instead?
The product key seems to be buried in the BIOS at the moment and I don't know if that will affect activation if I try to install a non-OEM version
Any anwers on help on the original problem would be greatly appreciated.

I'm sorry, I really don't have a clue how to exclude Fingerprint driver from Recovery.
    =============================
You should't have to worry about Activation. The BIOS key should work with the Windows 8 you installed from ISO download. Actually the install should have checked for and pulled the key already.

Any drivers you need should be posted on the Support page for the laptop.Get your full Model number or Product number from the Service Tag attached to bottom of laptop (may be under battery)
How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number
Once you have the info,  use the button at top of this page titled "Support", then click "Download drivers" from the menu. Enter your Product Number. After entering PN click 'Go". On the next page use the dropdown menu to select your Operating System, click Next. A list will populate with drivers/software.

  • How to boot with another Recovery DVD?

    (Sorry if i have Bad-English)
Hi guys, i bought a 15" MacBook Pro (A1286, Mid-2010) and i'm want to make a clean installation of a Snow Leopard DVD (Note: I bought that computer Without the Original Recovery DVD's) with a Non-Factory Recovery DVD's...
The problem is: When i'm trying to boot from the DVD, it Starts to read (and the Apple logo appears without the progress animation) and the DVD reader stops reading... Nothing else happens
    Please Help Me!

Set the value of the the OpenBootProm (OBP) variable "boot-file" to "kadb" (or "kadb -v" if you prefer verbose kernel messages).
Use either the eeprom(1M) command from the running solaris system,
    like this:
    <pre>
    % eeprom boot-file          (<- query current value of "boot-file")
    boot-file=kadb
    % eeprom boot-file=kadb          (<- define new value)
    </pre>
You can also define this variable from the OBP monitor using the
    OBP command "setenv"
Starting with the next reboot, the file "kadb" will be booted instead
of the "kernel/unix". kadb will load "kernel/unix" automatically
    under debugger control...

  • When editing .ccp file fails with "corrupted package" error

    Hello.
I usually créate packages on my local computer, and then copy them to a network drive, for deployment.
However when I try to edit a package I made, the creative cloud packager fails with a "Selected package is corrupt" message. I tried to map the folder to a network drive, or copy to a local folder but it doesn't work.
It seems to only work if I copy it in the very same folder where it was created. However, I have a few packages of which i don't knwo the original location.
What can I do to edit this packages?
    Thanks.

Hi alisterblack.. Thanks for your response.
But, how can I know the cause of "selected package  is corrupt"..? I never touch that .ccp file.
I downloaded the full package some months ago in one virtual machine which already been deleted. I got the full package of 13 GB then I moved them to my file server and now it is successful to be deployed with 2,5 hours to complete each computer. So this full package is valid, however the time to deploy is unacceptable and I need to edit the package. How come your package manager refer to cache instead of the full package that is already downloaded completely?
Can you make your Adobe Package Manager has ability to edit my downloaded package? Or alternatively, is there any other method to deploy/install the selected Adobe program one by one?
I hope you know how it is
-when it takes 2,5 hours to complete the installation to a client computer with Core i7, 16 GB of RAM
-when it takes the whole night (more than 7 hours) to download some gigabytes of your packaged while my internet connection is 80 Mbps
-when I re-download to re-build the package, the chance to success is 50% with the same error message [ERROR] AdobePackageBuilder - Failed to unzip the file blablabla..
    Thank you for your understanding.

    Good morning,
When importing MDL file you should have an log file generated. This log file is usually in the same directory as your *.mdl unless specified differently. In the error you posted there is a JOU_JOU_FK and I think this is the corruption. Find the mapping using this table associated to this JOU_JOU_FK and drop the mapping first. Check the log generated from the import it may specify the mapping to drop.
I import my (collection) mdl's with TCL scripts and I generate errors log or completion log. This way I can track my deployment to other environment and see if all mappings were deployed and compiled properly. The first part of the log mentions if the MDL imported properly then I performs a validate on it. If i received and error during import the log will list the mapping.
example: Error at line 8,624: MDL1261: Error importing MAPPING .....
Sometimes if I have many mappings to drop. I may receive an error log and have to include the mapping to be dropped in my TCL script.

  • Communication Failing with Corrupted Chars . Sql Server 2000 and AS400

    Hi Experts,
I am facing this below error after 9 yrs. sql server 2000 and As400 on prod server. while on dev and stage it's running properly. Here username is ABCD, while it's showing BCD
The OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "" reported an error. Authentication failed. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 7399) Cannot initialize the data source object of OLE DB provider "MSDASQL" for linked server "xxxxx".

User  BCD on server does not exist, Password length = 8, Prompt Mode = Never, System IP Address = "xxxxx". [SQLSTATE 01000] (Error 7412).  The step failed.
Here ABCD user is also disabling/locking the profile on AS400 server.
When we tried on Dev server, linked server through DSN working properly. Last time when it appeared 2 yrs ago, it resolved automatically. but now more than 10 days passed and still Failing.
    Please Guide Me.
    Regards,
    Manish

So this setup has worked for nine years, and all of a sudden stopped working with this error message? Does not look trivial...
What does Here ABCD user is also disabling/locking the profile on AS400 server mean? Is ABCD able to log in directly on the AS400 box?
One possibility is that the user ABCD has been dropped or disabled, and then there is a bug in the ODBC driver where the first character of the username is distorted in the error message. I note that there are two spaces between "User" and "BCD".
The other possibility is that the AS400 is receiving a login attempt from BCD (or something that ends in BCD with an invisible leading character). This sounds very difficult to troubleshoot...

  • How to recover notebook with Recovery DVD's instead of USB-stick?

I've ordered a Recovery kit from hp.com for my Compaq Mini 110c.
Apperantly HP sends DVD's to recover notebooks... I don't know if they know it, but there is no DVD-player in a notebook.
To order a recovery kit, I had to fill in a sheet with my model number and serial number. So they should know what kind of system I have. But OK, let's get to the point.
First of all, my keyboard doesn't work, my trackpad only works when I didn't touch my keyboard after reboot. If I press any key the trackpad doesn't work anymore and I have to connect my USB mouse. And I cannot connect to my wireless network.
I've had a stupid virus on this notebook and I think that's why its acting strange.
Before ordering the recovery kit, I tried formatting my system with a default Windows XP disk (after copying it to a bootable USB stick). I managed to get to the setup menu in XP, but apperantly the SATA-disks in my notebook are not recognized by the WinXP setup.
I don't have a legal Windows Vista or higher version available.
So I've ordered the recovery kit from HP. When I try to make a bootable HDD with the recovery DVD's, I get a warning that some file on the DVD was not found.
I'm a bit out of ideas to recover my notebook.
Any help or remarks would be great...

    Hi Thom,
    There are Two options available.
    1.  You can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below - these will reinstall the operating system, all required drivers and nearly all of the original software ( the exception often being trials of MS Office ).
    Order HP Recovery Discs.

    rajesh,
The recovery DVD you use makes the default partitioning scheme that your system obtained from the factory. You cannot make custom partitions with the recovery dvd set

  • Portege M400 recovery dvd - OS installation

I'm very disappointed with toshiba recovery dvd. It install all toshiba tools, utilities without any possibility of choice. Does exist any way to install OS without the Toshiba stuff? Or is some kind of utility to "extract" just OS from recovery dvd?

Nope. You should be able to build your own install media as long as the necessary files are in your windows folder. Look for a folder named i386. Find it and you are in the game. There might be others. Use Google to get more details. Even Microsoft has info on its pages. I did it myself on a m200 but I cannot remember all the steps. Just one thing: Since the tablet pc edition is nothing but your familiar xp pro plus tablet pc specific files, don't forget the folder \cmpnents\tabletpc\.
As soon as you have collected everything, you can do either a pxe net install (as i did using i386/winnt.exe -2 to start Windows installation) or burn your own install cd (keyword: BartPE).
Sorry, for not being more specific, but a clean install is possible.

  • How to repair corrupted xp files with the Toshiba recovery dvd pkg

Hello all, my Satellite a105-s4054 has some corrupted xp os files.  Please advise on how to repair only these files using the recovery dvd pks included with my sytem.  I would rather not have to do a complete format and install.   And it is now obvious which of the individual files listed should be replaced to repair the corrupted files.
Is there  way to just replace the corrupted files?

  • Is or is not "Application & Driver Recovery DVD" bootable? - SafeMode boot fails-corrupt CryptUI.dll

I'm trying to recover my daughter's Pavilion dm4-3170se. My daughter had not made a recovery disk and has no recent back-up of her data file set.
Problems (and what I have done so far) are quite parallel to what the user reported in this amazingly detailed post:
Difference is that in Safe Mode boot (command line or not), Windows boot fails on a dll, specifically CryptUI.DLL.
While amazingly detailed post user isn't getting into Windows boot, I am...for about 30 DLLs before it chokes on the corrupted one. I have tried a number of other things to get past it to no avail.
My daughter's original Recovery Disc set bought the farm when her house burned. So I ordered and got a replacement set from HP. I am loathe to use it before recovering her data files because she will lose maybe 40% of her professional work.
The delivered Recovery Disc set includes an "Application and Driver Recovery DVD". Given >20 years of Wintel machine tradition, I'm presuming it's bootable. Amazingly Detailed Post user got hers to boot from her DVD drive. But configuring the BIOS to seek the DVD drive as the first boot choice doesn't get it to boot after two tries.
Before I pour more time into this, I'd like the Collective Wisdom here.
Q1: Is this HP disc, numbered 691822-B22, meant to be bootable?
Q2a: If it is, do you imagine I can use the command line interface to copy identifed-as-bad DLL(s) to the HD?
Q2b: If it isn't, why the, er, gollygoshdarn isn't it? Must be an actual reasonable thing...
Thanks for all insights based on experience.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi:
Any HP application and driver DVD I have ever used is not bootable.
It should autorun from the windows desktop once windows has been reinstalled.
That is the only question I can answer of the ones you asked.
    Suggestion...
Make your own W7 installation ISO from the link below.
Use that to install W7 and do not delete any partitions or format the drive.
Windows will install and create a Windows.old folder of the current operating system.
Then you can copy any files you need from the Windows.old folder after W7 is installed.
Once you are sure you got what you need, run the recovery disk set to restore the hard drive to its out of the box condition.
Link to W7 ISO files is below.  Use the W7 x64 home premium file from the SP1 Media Refresh listing.
    http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/14709-Windows-7-Digital-River-direct-links-Multiple-Languag...
Then use this tool to transfer the iso file onto a DVD or 4 GB USB flash drive.  The tool will also make the iso file bootable.

  • Satellite U400 Impossible to create recovery DVD with Recovery disc creator

    Hi,
I have a Satellite U400 (few years old), and I never created the recovery DVD.
Now I want to do it, but for some reasons, when I launch Toshiba recovery disc creator, nothing happens...
The partition with the recovery files is there, as well as the folder HDDRecovery. I did add some files to this partition, could this be the problem ?
    Thanks for your help.

It is big problem now if the Toshiba tool cannot find the files.
