HDMI Adapter no longer charges new iPad ?

I bought a shiny new iPad 3rd Gen, and am having difficulties with my existing Apple HDMI Adapter, which, apart from the "This accessory is not supported" popup, will not charge the device even when being plugged to an iPad Power Adapter. Have any of you guys encountered this problem ? Any sollutions ?
Thanks,
Darie

I don't have an iPad-3 but this makes no sense.  It's just a matter of wires routing to the iPad.  Perhaps you might clean the connectors by disconnecting/connecting several times.

  • Tips for charging new ipad

Really disappointed in the amount of time required to charge new Ipad.   Anyone come up with a plan b on this topic?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. I found out that I have 2 female ends, my question is where can I find the adapter with 2 male connectors? and what about power supply to monitor?

  • My HDMI adapter can't charge my iPad2.

While I'm presenting my screen on TV or not presenting things, I can't charge my iPad via this HDMI adapter. I've already tried the new HDMI cable bought from Apple store but it still can't be charged. I've also tried with another iPad2 but i got the same result.
When I plug in the power cable to HDMI adapter, power gets in only a few seconds then gone. Any recommendations on this.
NOTE: I also went to store and staff tried my adapter and everything is OK.

Well, same issue here. Just unpacked and connected the Apple's original HDMI adapter to iPad2, no charging.
I mean this is the adapter that has HDMI and old (30pin) connector for charging.
The reason why that is not able to charge is connection problem.
Try to "play" with the connector, bend it a little and it starts charging. As soon as you let it go, it disconnects.
Also, the adapter gets warm - why is that?
Well I couldn't believe Apple designs and sells such crap. Sadly it's true.

  • HDMI adapter does not work on IPad 2.  Not unique to this cable or to my ipad

I bought the apple branded HDMI adapter for my new IPad 2.  When I plug it in it will give me a black screen and will, at most, very very sporadically flash the ipad screen for about one second then go back to black.  Before assisting please read below to see what I have tried already:
I tried the cable on 2 different IPad2s and an original IPad.
I tried a different cable of the same design on 2 different IPad2s
I tried using both cables on two different tvs and using two different hdmi cables
    I also tried powering off
I also tried running for-sure-supposed-to-work apps (although the IPad2 should mirror so that was unnecessary too).
I took to the Apple Store and they had no clue what was going on either.  Anyone know if this adapter is just a defective product in general?  What other things can I do to put my IPad on the tv...it was a large part of why I bought it.

Don't know if this will help, but this is the procedure I use to get mine to work:
Insert HDMI cable into TV port.
With TV on, select input to HDMI port on the TV that the cable is connected to.
With the iPad in sleep mode attach adapter with HDMI cable and power adapter connected to iPad.
Turn iPad on (take out of sleep mode).
This works for me every time.
Also heard that a while ago Apple produced a batch of bad HDMI adapters.  This could have happened again or not all the bad ones got sent back.

  • Overheating, charging new ipad

Could the overheating and terribly-long charging of new ipad (and the apparent non-pervasiveness among new owners) be related to different screen manufacturers (i.e., samsung, sharp, LG...)?

  • Charge new ipad on macbook pro (mid 2010)

I have a Macbook Pro MID 2010. When I connect my new ipad using MAC OS X Lion it charges normally, but when I connect it on my Windows 7, it doesn’t.
does any of you guys know how to make it work?

Newer mac books have USB ports that provide sufficient wattage to charge an iPad.  Very few windows laptops have high powered USB ports so they can only trickle charge an iPad when they can easily charge an iPhone.
It is because the iPad, as has been mentioned, needs to pull 10 watts through the charging system to do a normal charge.  This is why the iPad comes with a dedicated 10 wall charger and not the standard 2.5 watt wall charger that comes with the iPhone and iPod.
If you need to buy an extra wall charger for your iPad for when you are on the road or to keep at work make sure it is truly iPad compatible.  I found a really nice two port charger that provides high (10 watts) capacity on one port and low (2.5 watts) on the other.  So I can charge both my iPhone and iPad at the same time without damaging my devices or the charger.

  • VGA Adapter no longer Supported for iPAD

VGA Adapter no longer supported. I have an iPAD 1 which i use for business to do presentations. Since upgrading the VGA adapter no longer works. What are my options to correct this issue?

I have used Keynote to present presentations at customer sites and conferences via the VGA Adapter, a VGA cable and projector. This is the only application that i used the adapter for. I recently upgraded to v5.1 and the first presentation i did since the upgrade was Wed, May 2, 2012 where i was embarrised to find it no longer worked in front of a large number of customers. A little warning would have been helpful.

  • Will the hdmi adapter mirrors everything from the ipad to the tv?

I want to buy a HDMI dock converter for ipad2 on ebay but it says that it do not support to display web pages on tv. I find this weird because, will the hdmi converter mirrors everything from the ipad to the tv?

The Apple Digital AV Adapter only output to TV. It cannot be tethered to a camera.

  • Charging 'new' iPad

Should we use a surge protector type power strip to charge our 'new' iPad?  We have a 90yr old home with old wiring in our bedroom, but it is grounded properly.

Surge protectors, if they're good ones rather than the $10 "hardware store specials", are always recommended as a precaution. Grounding does not protect against power surges from appliances or other devices that can draw a lot of startup current.
    Regards.

  • How do I charge new iPad in car

Obviously the new iPad uses a 10w mains charger. I have found loads of car chargers but none that say they will charge the iPad 3rd Gen via 12v socket. Griffin has one that claims it will but in Apple store it stated its not compatible. I can't find anywhere even in Apple site where I can get one. So from hands on experience who can recommend a car charger that works.

Hi thanks for reply. Can u let me know the exact Griffin model and is your iPad definitely 3rd Generation.

Hi. I own an Iphone 4 running ios 5.1.1. I used to be able to watch a video using my HDMI adapter when i was running ios 5.0.

Then i thought i should update my iphone to make it work again, but in vain, my adapter seems to work no more... I of course tried to restore my iphone and checked my hdmi cable. Am i the only one or am i the choosen one like neo ? Thank you !

what I would do if I was me
first step of troubleshooting would be to reboot the phone
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/phone/#section_1
second step then I would try another ios device that is supported with the device (of cause only iphone4s and ipad2 and up support mirror so for testing I use youtube as I know that support the tv out feature)
trying out the other ios device would rule out that the cable is damaged and you just happend to notice around the time you updated os
third step I would try other devices that use the pin30 cable to see if the connector in the iphone was damaged
