HDMI-CEC Support in Future X1

I dug up this thread from last year that concluded HDMI-CEC is not supported for the X1, which seems like an odd thing for such expensive equipment.  How much trouble would it be for Comcast to add this via software update, or into the next gen of X1 boxes? I sold my expensive harmony remotes a while back and haven't had to worry about switching devices on my receiver until my recent upgrade to the X1 box. It just seems like such a simple feature to add--just press the Xfinity button to send the signal? Thanks,Michael

Comcast has chosen to deviate from widely accepted HDMI specs to suit their own purposes. To us, these changes might seem easy. To Comcast, if it doesn't suit their end game the will not make the changes.
As a Harmony owner (I am also an expert Harmony programmer) you may regret selling your Harmony remotes. I have three Harmony 900s controlling my three X1 systems and it looks like the 900s are one of the smartest things I have ever done.
Don't hold your breath on Comcast making the changes you are suggesting.

  • HDMI CEC support for Apple TV

When will HDMI CEC support arrive Apple TV? HDMI CEC is a must have for every HDMI connected device. Apples TV remote is horrible and with only one remote the TV experience will be much better.

Yes, not much more to do than just tell Apple what we want. If you did find this thread in search of CEC support for the Apple TV? Please take the time to give Apple feedback, where you ask for this feature. Using this link:

  • HDMI CEC Support

It would be so nice if we could find a Verizon Fios DVR that supported the HDMI CEC protical. How much effort does Verizion spend to get one remote control of their customers TVs, sound systems and DVD players? Imagine all this going away by simply supporting a HDMI standard that is already in place. Not only that but the pleasure you would give us techies that have been waiting for the addition of support for this standard.

  • Apple TV 2 - HDMI CEC Signal?

Does anybody know whether Apple TV 2 sends a HDMI CEC Signal?
I have a Neet 3-port auto HDMI switcher so that several HDMI sources can be used on one TV HDMI port. It switches to a device when you turn a device on. It uses the HDMI CEC signal. It is not working with the Apple TV 2.
Neet support have been very good and have offered me to upgrade to the remote controlled version for free, but before I take them up on it I would like to know if the Apple TV 2 is sending the signal or not so I know whether the unit is working or not.

    So cynical...yet probably so true
I must remember to ditch all my other media devices now I'm in ATV land and dedicate my TV to the little black marvel...
...but back in the real world, impressed as I am with the HD movie streaming its too pricey for me to seriously consider it being the only thing I want hooked up to my TV. Not to mention the life-confirming requirement for Sky Sports on my HD box. So the CEC signal, or lack thereof, is a mark off IMHO. Not a perfect 10. I will now have to get my lazy butt off the sofa and manually change the auto-switching device thing with the ever-so old fashioned manual switch button. A neat step up from changing cables but still off the sofa. Or try not to lose yet another remote (courtesy of the wonderful customer service of Neet). Before realising I have to get of the sofa anyway to manually change the optical cable switch to get the wonderful surround sound. Or buy another TV with even more HDMI inputs and a home cinema system with even more optical inputs.
    Life, eh?

  • B590 and HDMI-CEC question

    HI.
I want to try to connect my Lenovo B590 to LG TV by HDMI wire and use the TV remote to controll XBMC mediaplayer.
    Does this notebook supports HDMI-CEC?

If the TV doesn't have a "reset to factory settings" option in the settings somewhere, you can reset it by turning it off and unplugging it from power for a few minutes. However, I don't see that model listed in my database. Is it from the US? This is the site for Toshiba USA, so if it's from another region, you should check with Toshiba in your region.

  • CS6 not supported on future Mac OS?

Is it true that CS6 won't be supported in future Mac OS versions? How long will I still be able to use CS6?

There is no way to answer either of those questions. Apple doesn't reveal its plans ahead of time. Adobe hasn't said how long it will support CS6.

  • RAW-support in future?

    Hi,
does Apple give information, which cameras will be supported in future? Or does Apple somewhere has a feature request for this?
    As a Panasonic / Leica fan I would really appreciate RAW-support for e.g. LX2 / D-Lux 3, or L1 / Digilux 3.
    Thanks, Frank

To date Apple has not shared future support. They love secrecy.

  • Hdmi not supported on apple tv

I got a new Apple TV and tried to connect it to my HD TV, the apple sign appeared then hdmi 720, then a message saying HDMI not supported, and only voice working on TV no video. I tried another Apple TV and same problem. Any ideas?

If it is two apple TVs the problem may be either your cable or TV HDMI port.  Try the Apple TV on another telly and try another cable if you can borrow them.

  • HD TV or LCD monitor with HDMI,DVI supported to preview and color grading

Finally I got my canon HFS100 and Intensity Pro now what type of the monitor should I get to preview and color grading video via intensity pro between HD TV or LCD monitor with HDMI,DVI supported and how to calibrate monitor via intensity pro.
    Please help.

The main downside is that an HDTV is designed to be used at TV viewing distance. So it would work fine for presentations, where the audience is sitting more than 5 feet away. But at typical computer screen distance of 2-3 feet, it is the same 1920x1080 pixels spread out over a 32-inch screen. Oh, actually, that HDTV you mentioned is only "720p", which is only 1280x720. That may not look all that good at TV distance either, if you are displaying images that are static (non-motion).
Your eyes will have to work harder to see the same screen real estate, because everything is bigger on the screen. Images and text will not look as sharp (more pixelated) because each pixel is larger. It won't be like using a 30-inch Cinema Display, which has 2560x1600 pixels. Each pixel on that 32-inch 720p HDTV is more than 4 times larger.
A 1080p HDTV would be somewhat better, because that is 1920x1080 resolution.

  • HDMI cable supporting sound

    Hi there,
I bought a single HDMI cable from my macbook pro to my TV. The cable said to support sound and image, yet when I connect it, the sound still plays through my macbook.
Any idea how to fix this, or do I actually need to buy an extra cable because my macbook can't handle this cable?

    To update:
There is no "HDMI" option I can select in my Sound settings in System Preferances.
There also is no option on my Panasonic TV that allows me to adjust the sound to any HDMI cable.

  • DVI, HDMI resolutions supported in MBP

What should I look for when buying new LCD monitor/tv to connect to MBP? Uncertain about resolutions supported. I have ATI Mobility Radeon X1600. I am looking at Samsung with 1080p, 1920x1200. Will this work and do I use DVI or HDMI connections?

Where possible I'd go with an HDMI connection, as long as your Samsung does true 1080p resolution 1920x1200 will be fine (and is supported). ((Some things advertised as HD aren't truly 1080))

  • Micro USB to HDMI adapter support on Encore 2 WT8-B-102

I would like to know, if there is any chance to connect this tablet to TV/Monitor through the micro usb port by attaching a micro usb to HDMI adapter? If yes, is there any specific adapter being compatible with this Tablet device?
    Thanks for the support
    Alex

First of all it’s not possible to use USB port (micro USB) in order to output the video signal. The USB port does not support such functionality.
According to the tablet's specification page the WT8-B does not support video out interface (HDMI etc..) and therefore it's not possible to connect it directly to the TV device.

  • Android support / mobile future?

    Hey there,
i'm really convinced of Adobe CC and it's possibilities of network based and/or mobile workflow,
but the lack of android cc apps is more than frustrating!
I recently watched the mobile future presentation and I would really, really like to participate of the possibilities
which were recently already created through the new mobile apps, but as an android user i feel pretty left alone (said it politely).
Furthermore i'm paying the same money as, for instance, apple iOs users...
In addition I noticed the subtle mention (sic!) of mobile microsoft devices during the mobile future presentation,
therefore i became pretty scared which os/devices might get the most support in the future and irritated
why the new apps are almost only available for apple iOs.
    So... Quo vadis, Adobe!?
    Sincerely,
    Andre Merkelbach

Adobe seem to have completely ignored/ discriminated against Android users as usual. Android users deserve a rebate on their CC fees as they only get a partial service. 2 apps out of 11 available for Android, and they have less features?! Insulting! What gives, Adobe?!!

  • Will mobile devices be supported in future?

I'm running WM6 while I have a class of children I'd like to
try using Buzzword with. The children have PDAs running WM5 - is it
likely they'll be able to use Buzzword in the near future? I tried
accessing it a few month ago and was greeted with a blank screen..
    Thanks,
    Mr Portman

    mrportman,
Thanks for your interest in running Buzzword on a mobile
device. Buzzword will run on any operating system that supports
Flash Player 9. Right now, that's Mac, Windows, and Linux.
Unfortunately, I don't have any information about future
plans for where Flash Player 9 might run.

  • HDMI HDCP Support Issue Resolved

Everyone, I've struggled for months with the HDCP non-support issue. I've tried everything, rebooting the network, resetting ATV, etc to no avail. I think I've found a solution and have verified this by trying to watch a movie I'm in the process of downloading. Here is what I found:
-Rent movie and let it fully download.
-Authorize the movie. You might get a single HDCP error which in my case did not require me to hit "OK"
-Disconnect ATV from the network by pulling out the ethernet cable.
    -Watch your movie in peace.
I hope this helps, at least it worked for me.

I'm having this problem just downloading to my mac book pro and then connecting to my big screen HDTV to play it back. (no ATV in the loop).
How do you "authorize" the movie for a given display?
