  • HT4108 Does the lightening to HDMI allowing video mirroring of items in the iBook (i.e. pdf)?

Have a few PDF files in iBooks I want to share on an overhead projector to a large audience and plan to purchase the lightening to HDMI connector and want to check if this will work.  Have iPad 4.

+1. How is the video quality when connecting the mini to a 42" plasma via HDMI thru a receiver?+
No real way to answer that question because there is so much variability in TVs and how they respond to computer connections. Ditto with receivers. Have you ever tried hooking your iMac up to the TV through the receiver? Whatever results from that, expect the same from the mini.
+2. I've heard that there is a remote application for the ipod touch that would work well for using front row. Any recommendations as to these applications?+
I can't help with that question. Don't own a Touch personally.
+3. Are others using a bluetooth keyboard/mouse in the absence of a remote through the ipod touch? I'm wondering if surfing the internet is handy when connected through the tv (i.e. does it look okay).+
Again, too much variability among particular set ups to give an answer. The resolution of your plasma, how far you sit from it...so many things will affect whether it works for you as an internet appliance. But for me, I do occasionally use a BT keyboard and mouse and surf from the couch. I'm a little far away, about 7 feet, from my 40" 1080p LCD TV, so I usually drop the resloution setting down on the mini to 1366 x 768 and then it is comfortable to use. I leave it on 1080p for everything else. I have the aluminum Apple keyboard, which I like a lot, and a Kensignton Slim Blade Trackball Mouse, which I also like a lot because I can toggle it between mouse and trackball mode easily. Trackball mode is very useful because there isn't always a good surface to run a mouse when sitting on a couch.

  • Video mirroring iPad 2 + Component AV Cable

Can I use a Component Av Cable to video mirroring my iPad 2?
I have the VGA adapter an it works great for that purpose but I'd like better quality output than just VGA.
    Have you tested this combination?
    Thanks

Confirmed, the component cable does not support mirroring.
Also I don't know where consumers get it in their heads that VGA is worse then component.
    They're both analog connections.
They can both do 1080p (1920x1080 or 1920x1200 (16:10 aspect)), VGA can actually go higher then that.
Some devices will look washed out with VGA, this is NOT the VGA standards fault, but rather that devices implementation. The Xbox 360 for example had this issue originally but it was fixed via a software update.
VGA and Component are definitely on their way out in the consumer space, but they're still widely used in the business world with older data projectors (VGA being most prominent).
As for mirroring, the HDMI and VGA adapters are your best friends with the iPad 2.
I believe the component cable could handle the mirroring, its just something on Apple's end that's preventing it. Perhaps because if you use component on an older non-HDTV it can only do 480i and perhaps that causes issues with the iPad trying to output to that resolution. Just a thought.

  • Trying to stream Amazon Prime Free videos from Ipad via Mirroring to Apple TV

Trying to stream Amazon Prime Free videos from Ipad via Mirroring to Apple TV.  Trailer plays fine. Real Movie plays audio only. Some error messahe that HD video can't be played over HDMI cable.  I telling ya that 25 foot VGA cable is looking better and better.  Apple TV tech the differrence had to be done at  the time of encoding

Amazon blocks Airplay in encoding the movie. It's not the HDMI cable, or AppleTV for that matter.

I have an iPad 2 that I want to use with video mirroring to give lectures with. I bought a VGA Adapter for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod as I want to be able to connect with any TV, monitor or projector for lectures, not just an HD device.. After plugging in my iPad to the VGA adapter and then to the video device, it appears that there is no connection with the iPad. Anybody have any thoughts?

  • Video mirror not on iPad 1

I update to OS 4.3 last night and it all worked fine... Except that I was hoping that video mirroring would also work via de VGA adaptor, and it doesn't seem to be so....???

Personally I'm a little disappointed in Apple that after shelling out nearly £700 for an iPad less than 12 months ago, it is already obsolete. In the past they have been pretty good at rewarding early adopters with the latest features - and I was particularly looking forward to the video mirroring. Not impressed!!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You'll need to buy another, there is no support or warranty for an Apple TV with unauthorised modifications.

I have reached the same conclusion in the mean time. I have done a bit of investgation in to other grahics cards and am seeing some that show SPDIF connections from the card to the mother board. I was not familar with SPDIF but it did a little bit of sluething. It is of course a digitally enconded voice. I am guessing that in that case the mother board ( assuming it supports this hardware option) would use this output and be able to translate that digital audio to its other audio outputs. That is a lot of guessing of course. I think my "solution" might  be a whole new desktop - a rather drastic course of action! I was in the proceess of getting ready to upgrade this machine anyway with a new graphics card (which I will now return), go to Win 7, and maybe even a new digital TV reciever,  and I don't want to throw good money after bad anyway.
    Thanks for your comments

Do you have the correct input set on the TV, like HDMI 1, HDMI 2, etc?

  • Will ios 5 enable video mirroring of photos through the vga adaptor on ipad 1

Will ios 5 enable video mirroring of photos through the vga adaptor on ipad 1?

"the graphics hardware in the iPad 1 doesn't provide proper support for mirroring the screen."
Actually it does.  I JB'd my iPad for the sole purpose of VGA mirroring and it works GREAT, but I'd rather not have to JB with ios 5.  It obviously works, Apple sells a VGA adapter.  What is the big problem with making this happen.

  • How to Video Mirror to my Iphone Projector

    Hello
I have bought the new iPad recently.
I have a projector for my Iphone 4s which i recieved as a gift
    http://www.brookstone.com/pocket-projector-for-iphone-4
I also recieved a dokc extender wire that I used to connect my iPad to my Iphone projector. It is 30 pin on both ends and supports video out.
So far I can't do true video mirroring. I can use video-out functions (videos, photos, youtube, select Video/out apps), but I am looking to reproduce the entire screen via my projector.
Do i need to turn something on true video monitoring or is there a very specfic cable i am missing? I was kind of hoping this would work. Its nice to have some limited video out functionality but the mirroring function was one of my selling points.
    I hope someone can help.
Also I am relatively new to the apple world...so don't be afraid to elaborate.
    Thank you.

I'm going to be honest, after I read your reply my first thought was to do the following
Buy the HDMI adapter, connect it to the ipad, then connect the hdmi wire,  then find another adapter to go from the HDMI out back to a 30 pin to connect the phone (while creating a mesh of wires)
    Silly? Absolutely
Infinitely cheaprer than the portable projectors out there? Absolutely

  • IPad2 and VGA/Video Mirroring...

I'm a teacher with a VGA projector in my classroom. I really want to get an iPad2, but I've been holding out until I could justify the purchase by using it in class (Maps, Safari, Keynote, Pages, using the cameras to record video of the kid's projects, etc).
I've been reading a lot of vague information about video mirroring, I realize that the HDMI adaptor will mirror my brand spanking new iPad to an HDTV, but that's worthless to me in the classroom. I've read a lot of people who think that video mirroring will work with the VGA adaptor and an iPad2. Can anyone definitively tell me that iPad2 and iOS4.3 will support video mirroring with the VGA adaptor so that I can use it with my classroom's projector?
Please let the answer be yes, that would be awesome. If not... Can anyone think of a workable solution? HDMI adaptor --> HDMI Cable --> HDMI to VGA adaptor --> VGA cable?
    Thanks.

Scroll down the page to Apple VGA Adapter. http://www.apple.com/ipad/accessories/
It says, "Share what’s on your iPad screen with an even larger audience by connecting your iPad to a TV, monitor, projector, or LCD display that uses a VGA connector." That's full mirroring.
This is a new description for the VGA Adapter, the old description is available if you click through to "buy now". The adapter appears to be the same, I think the difference will be iOS4 software that allows full mirroring.

  • Output iPad video to 27" iMac using iPad VGA adaptor?

Hi, I was wondering is it possible to Output iPad video to 27" iMac as an external monitor using iPad VGA adaptor?
    Thx.

No.  The VGA adaptor is an analog connection and the only inputs are digital Mini Display / Thunderbolt ports depending on your model.  It maybe possible with a conversion box of some sort or maybe trying an HDMI to mini display port cable ($44.95) and an iPad 2.  The 27' should be able to be used as a second display but the 21 is not.  If you have the iPad 2, pick up the cable and the HDMI adapter and try it out.  If not, return the cables within two weeks.
