  • Apple TV 2 - HDMI CEC Signal?

Does anybody know whether Apple TV 2 sends a HDMI CEC Signal?
I have a Neet 3-port auto HDMI switcher so that several HDMI sources can be used on one TV HDMI port. It switches to a device when you turn a device on. It uses the HDMI CEC signal. It is not working with the Apple TV 2.
Neet support have been very good and have offered me to upgrade to the remote controlled version for free, but before I take them up on it I would like to know if the Apple TV 2 is sending the signal or not so I know whether the unit is working or not.

    So cynical...yet probably so true
I must remember to ditch all my other media devices now I'm in ATV land and dedicate my TV to the little black marvel...
...but back in the real world, impressed as I am with the HD movie streaming its too pricey for me to seriously consider it being the only thing I want hooked up to my TV. Not to mention the life-confirming requirement for Sky Sports on my HD box. So the CEC signal, or lack thereof, is a mark off IMHO. Not a perfect 10. I will now have to get my lazy butt off the sofa and manually change the auto-switching device thing with the ever-so old fashioned manual switch button. A neat step up from changing cables but still off the sofa. Or try not to lose yet another remote (courtesy of the wonderful customer service of Neet). Before realising I have to get of the sofa anyway to manually change the optical cable switch to get the wonderful surround sound. Or buy another TV with even more HDMI inputs and a home cinema system with even more optical inputs.
    Life, eh?

  • KDL26M4000 HDMI no signal

For six months plus, each time I turn on my Sony TV, no picture.  Message on screen:  HDMI No signal.
When I reconnect the HDMI cable, the picture is very good.  Same problem when switching to HDMI2 with Sony remote, setting, to designate port.  Two calls 7/13/2015 to Sony Customer Service yielded no solution; advised to check connection.  What instrument can I purchase to test HDMI cable without buying another HDMI cable and not needing.  Called AT&T when I had U-verse and DirecTV which is now used.  No solution offered.   Post under Picture & Sound?  Not a sound issue. TV manufactured Sep 2008.  Any suggestions?

Thanks DaveJ.  Thanks and ref your advice "Try a different device that can receive an HDMI video signal using the same HDMI Cable (e.g. TV).  A local tv repair shop (Deal TV Service) tested my Sony TV and HDMI cable and advised "working just fine".  I don't seem to have another device to test other than my Panasonic DVD recorder which has component cables going to TV.  DirecTV shipped me new HDMI cable and component cables 7/29/2015 which I connected but have same problem of no picture with screen message "HDMI No Signal".  I've tried HDMI 1 and 2 on TV using Sony remoted control to specify port.  DirecTV advised 7/30/2015 they will ship another main black box.  When I had AT&T U-verse priior to 3/30/2015 I had same problem.  Each time I reseat HDMI cable, there is a delay and a perfect TV picture appears.  A real mystery.  Could problem be Panasonic DVD player recorder?  How to test further including cables?  My TV and DVD player recorder are way out of warranty but wish I could talk with Sony knowledgeable tech support but only can get customer service.  Looking for more indepth resources.  Signal level issue(s) ?  7/31/2015.

  • Brand New ATV3 - No HDMI video signal.

Brand New (2013) ATV3 - No HDMI video signal when plugging it in to my TV (Toshiba 52" LED).
Ive tried 3 different HDMI cables in 3 different HDMI inputs in various configurations. Still no video.
Ive tried power cycling ATV and my TV, and changing resolutions using the Apple remote - Still nothing.
Ive seen serveral forums offering many but unhelpful options.
Yes, my TV is set to the same HDMI input as the HDMI cable is plugged into.
    Please help?

You tried difference HDMI cables, different HDMI ports, cycled the ATV, confirmed optical audio output works. Do you have another HDTV to plug in and test? If ATV video fails to appear in this case, I would say that this would confirm the Apple TV HDMI output is broken given the extensive troubleshooting you have already performed. In my opinion, this would completely isolate the diagnosis as ATV malfunction. Did you purchase it via Apple or Third party? Apple will replace the device within 14 days no questions asked, or service it within one year. If third party, contact them regarding your coverage.
How long is my Apple TV covered by Apple’s warranty?
Apple's Limited Warranty for Apple TV covers your Apple TV for one year. Warranty service for eligible repairs is available at no charge for twelve months from the date of original retail purchase ("date of purchase").

  • DVI to HDMI - no signal coming though?

    This one has me stumped.
    I'm running:
    - Mac mini Core 2 Duo model (10.5.1)
    - Sony Rear Projection LCD TV DVI-only up to 1080i
    - XtremeMac XTREMEHD HDMI switch box with an HDMI to DVI adapter to the TV
I know the switchbox is handingly the HDMI to DVI OK - I have a TiVo HD and Xbox 360 which both work fine but the Mac mini isn't cooperating. I mean, it's shows me no screen of any kind... this isn't a complaint of quality
If I hook up the mini to the TV directly via DVI to DVI, it works fine: I like to drive it in 1280x720 but I've had it run all the way to 1080i. It correctly shows that it's a Sony TV and it's happy. When I plug in the DVI-to-HDMI adapter, which runs to the HDMI switch box, I get nothing. If I connect to the mini via VNC, it tells me that it only detects a standard VGA monitor.
I've tried SwitchResX while connected via VNC: it run and it gives me the illusion that I'm changing settings but after a reboot, I get nothing but the "standard" VGA modes.
I've tried DisplayConfigX (and bought it to "export" the settings) - not only does this crash when connected via VNC but the exported settings are ignored on a reboot.
I tried to delete the com.apple.windowserver*.plist files, but I wasn't able to in single user mode - told me it was a system file... even so, I'm not sure how that would help in this scenario.
So, I'm at a loss... it doesn't like there's any way to "lock in" the Sony TV options when I connect it DVI-to-HDMI, or have I missed something?

I am having a similar issue with my Mac Mini (Intel Core Duo running Leopard). I recently bought a LCD HDTV which has a VGA connector and 2 HDMI connectors, but no DVI. I want to connect it with a DVI to HDMI adapter, but when I do, I get no picture at all and the TV says it is receiving a "1P SD" signal (should be 1080P HD). However, the VGA connector works fine, and allows me to run the full 1920x1080 (non-interlaced) resolution. I know the DVI output on the Mac Mini is fine, since that is how I connected it to my old LCD monitor. I tried connecting it to my brother's Mac Mini (PowerPC G4 running Tiger) with the same results.
At this point, I suspect it is some sort of handshaking issue between the HDTV and the Mac Mini, but I have no idea how to fix it. If I get the chance, I'll borrow my parents' MacBook Pro and try to connect that. That should allow me to see any error messages that it is displaying. I may try playing around with VNC tomorrow at work if I get a chance.

  • HDTV as monitor via hdmi no signal

So I recently purchased my macbook pro 13" as my first mac and I've got to say that I love it.  However, the one thing that has given me problems is when I try to use my HDTV as a monitor.  It is an Insignia ns-32LCD.  I am using a Rocketfish mini display to hdmi adapter.  My Mac will detect a monitor and show me options for resolutions, but the TV still displays "no signal."  As I'm new to the Mac I was wondering if there was maybe some display settings I am simply not familiar with as I have confirmed with Insignia that everything is connected and running correctly on the TV end.  Thanks in advance!

Make sure the input settings on the TV are correct then restart both the TV and the Mini.

  • DVI/HDMI No Signal

    I'm running:
Mac mini Core 2 Duo model (10.5.2)
I recently bought a 42" Insignia LCD HDTV which has a VGA connector and 2 HDMI connectors, but no DVI. I know the DVI output on the Mac Mini is fine. I just need a little help with this, I really don't want to use VGA. I want to get the best quality if possible.

Its fortunate this topic came up when it did. I'm having a similar problem...
I'm using an Optiquest Q20wb LCD (sub-par, but a freebie) with a first generation, 1.25 GHz Mac Mini. It has previously been operating off of this display for someone else for a number of years now using a VGA cable and the Apple-included VGA-DVI adaptor. Tonight I hooked it up with a DVI cable for the first time while it was still running - I got a digital signal for a few minutes before the video signal sputtered out during a software update. It has since refused to work with a digital signal, yet the old VGA+adaptor method works. I have hooked up the same display and DVI cable to my MacBook Pro successfully, but nothing has resolved the digital video issue with the Mini.
Hate to ride your coat tails Zion, but does anyone have a suggestion for my issue as well?

  • AppleTV (2013) HDMI/No Signal

    I have
    1. Brand New Apple TV (ATV) (2013)
    2. LG LCD TV 1080P around 3 years old (Main TV in the house)
    3. New IMAC
The LG TV wont pick up a signal from the ATV when connected to any HDMI port
(though it did work really well a month ago - no idea what changed.  Frustrated I replaced the ATV today thinking it would solve my LG TV issue)
    It did not
ATV is connected to my wireless network (this was set up through a small TEAC LCD TV in the house after becomming frustrated with the LG)
ATV airplay icon is visible on my IMAC and airplay works on the TEAC LCD.
I have tried adjusted the video output setting on the ATV to
    1. RBG high - did not work
    2. RBG low - did not work
    3. AUto - did not work
I have also updated the software on the ATV - still did not work
    help !

after spending an 0.5 hour on various alternative settings on the ATV, I still cannot get the LG LCD tv (42LD560) to pick up a HDMI signal from the ATV (remember this TV could pick up the signal a couple months ago)
I have tried 2 different HDMI cables (one thick the other thinner) and all 3 hdmi ports
I think the TV stopped recognising the hdmi signal when the ATV software was updated (ATV is currently on v5.3)

  • HDMI unsupported signal check device output

    Hi,
I have a new youview box and I want to use it with my Sony KDL-40EX700 TV using HDMI. While booting, the TV displays unsupported signal check device output for a while, then it displays YOUVIEW logo and writes Nearly Ready underneath. After a short while it again goes back to unsupported signal check device output. When I connect using video output it works. I can set the HDMI output resolution to 1080i or 720p using the analog video cable, but when I switch back I still get unsupported signal, check device output.
I have seen several people having similar problems before. Is this not resolvable?

    Hi
I've got exactly the same issue, waited two weeks for the update as this was meant to fix the issue but makes absolutely no difference, I rang support and got a fob off answer "we are aware of the problem and are looking in to it"(I get the feeling as he was somewhere not in the UK! he hasn't even seen a YouView box) I myself work as a technical support engineer and my Boss wouldn't have been impressed to say the least if I ever gave that answer to any of our customers.
I get the feeling that BT/Humax expect everyone to go out and buy a new TV that might work with the HDMI issue which is stupid as I and I suspect alot of other customers left Virgin or other services to sign up to BT & YouView to save money only to be extremely dissapointed -  I 'm going to give it a month if there hasn't been a firmware to finally fix the issue on HD Televisions, I'll move to Talk Talk as they use Huawei boxes

  • LG 32LH3000 LCD + Mac Mini + HDMI = No Signal

Hello guys, hope you can help me with this one that is driving me crazy.
So here It is the setup: Intel 2007 Mac Mini running Snow Leopard. LG 32lh3000 LCD. DVI to HDMI cable and the result is I get a "no signal message". Using that very same cable with my 2007 Macbook Pro and it instantly gives me a perfect image.
Using a VGA to VGA cable in the MAC Mini works great but with the obvious quality loss compared to the HDMI.
I VNCed to the Mini through the MBP and tried to play with the resolutions to see if anything happened but I got nothing, still no image using the DVI to HDMI.
I dont know what else to do, can you help me?

    Hello guys,
I just wanted to give you a brief update on the situation that, for a short moment, I thought It was solved.
Yesterday I tried once again to see If the Mac Mini wanted to “communicate” with my LCD, do I did the usual, connected my dvi -> hdmi to the mini and to the LCD; selected the correct hdmi input on the LCD and hit the power button on the mini.
I don’t know what happened this time but I saw the grey screen with the apple meaning the system was booting, I thought it had came alive somehow, but, when It was time to show the desktop, It turn back to the usual “no signal” screen.
The weirdest thing is that I didn’t do anything different from the other multiple times that I tried to connect the Mini and the LCD, I did the same thing that I tried before without getting anything, but this time, at least, I saw the Mini booting in a fabulous 1080p resolution...
Hope you can give me some help.... thanks!

  • HT201338 Does thunderbolt support the HDMI audio signal?

I often do presentation that include audio.  None of the Thunderbolt to HDMI cables carry the audio signal.  I typically end up using my Apple TV  or an external speaker via the audio out.  Does Thunderbolt support audio?  I find no documentation on this.

Yes it does if your TB to HDMI adapter supports it and the cable.
If you are having problems getting it to work go into the Sound applet of System Preferences and make sure the Output is to HDMI.

  • Mac Pro HDMI lost signal in 2 seconds after selecting the HDMI input

Since a few days I am using my Mac Pro (Late 2013) as media server. The Mac is connected to my  TV using the HDMI port, that handles the 1080p (60Hz) and audio signals. My problem is that after I select the HDMI input on my TV (as turning the TV on or just changing the input) I can see the Mac desktop for like 2 seconds and then I lost the signal.
At the moment the only way to get the signal back is to log in via remote desktop and rotate the image, and then back again.
This is really annoying and renders the Pro useless as a media server, I would really appreciate some ideas.

The Mac uses a highly-parameterized Driver for every display. The parameters are set by sending a query to the display, which MUST answer with its capabilities. Based on the claimed capabilities, the parameters for a good picture are set.
The query is sent at Power-on, and when the cables are changed. And it is also sent when you sleep-and-wake your Mac, so you can use that to your advantage. If the display is set to a different port, it will often will not answer the query and the screen will go black.
First, set your display to the correct input port. Then try to sleep-and-wake your Mac to have it send the capabilities query again, and set the parameters for a good display.
To sleep your Mac when the screen is blank, you can use Control Eject. That puts up this familiar screen, even if you cannot see it:
press the R key to Restart, the S key and it will Sleep, ESC to Cancel and return to shut down.
Wait a moment to confirm it is sleeping, then press the spacebar or Command key to wake it up.

  • MSI FM2A75AI-E53- No HDMI video signal

Problem is that i can't get video out of HDMI-port. VGA-port is working normally. Catalyst does notice my LG-hdtv from both VGA and HDMI-ports and I can expand/copy my desktop but still no video out of HDMI-port.
I have already tried the following:
    New Catalyst
    New BIOS
    IGP/PEG change from BIOS
    two different HDMI-cables
attach it to my Onkyo av-receiver
    Components:
    AMD A10-5800K
    Corsair CML8GX3M2A2133C11B (2*4gb)
    MSI FM2A75AI-E53
    Silverstone SST-ST45SF-PSU

Have you set your 'LG-hdtv' to the correct input source (ie HDMI)?

  • Mini display to hdmi adapter problem

    Hi,
When I connected my mini display to hdmi adapter to hdmi, and hdmi cable to my ASUS PA238QR monitor, my early 2011 MBP 13" detects the monitor, but the monitor shows "hdmi no signal".
I tried unplugging everything, including the adapter and hdmi, but to no avail. I tried putting my computer to sleep, and waking it up, still, nothing seemed to be the cause of the problem.
I read through some old discussion on this issue, and nobody seems to have a solid solution besides purchasing another adapter.
I tried booting into win7 and still, the monitor shows "hdmi no signal".
I am 100% sure my monitor and hdmi works becuase when I used other laptops it's fine.
Thus, I'm suspecting it's the mini display to hdmi adapter's problem.
Is there a way I can make sure that my macbook pro is outputting the signal?
Any recommendation or advises are welcomed. Thanks for reading.

If you've an HDMI port on your television, you could always try that.
I've used this adapter from Monoprice successfully - not bad for under $7.
Give your TV a try - if no go, then you'll know that it's an adapter problem.
    Good luck,
    Clinton
