HDMI out from Timeline

Hi,
I am doing a job for an Art Gallery, in which I have to shoot, and do a quick edit (no effects), and output to a Full HD 1920x1080 TV.
I intend to buy a Panasonic AG-HMC70U Shoulder Mounted Camcorder, which stores AVCHD 1080/60i (NTSC) video in SD/SDHC Cards.
I intend to buy a Sony VAIO F VPCF127FX/B 16.4" Notebook Computer, with Windows 7 Premium 64 bit, processor 1.73GHz Intel Core i7-740QM, 6 GBs RAM, and nVIDIA GeForce GT 330M with 1GB Dedicated.
Will I be able to output directly from CS-5 Timeline to TV, through notebook's HDMI out?
Thank you,
Ronaldo

Thanks a lot robodog2
I have a few questions bellow in red:
I would get 1 Terabyte drives instead...they are not expensive. You might need the extra room if you have to do some exports to files.  Get the fastest ones you can for editing...esata better than fw800...make sure you turn off indexing and format NTFS and assign specific drive letters to the externals...put tape on driive with the drive letter you gave it clearly marked. If you dont you will have a hard time swapping them and maintaining links with your project(s).
Agree.
dont partition any drives
Agree.
when you say dvd you mean of course Blue Ray...for HD....  dvd is for SD....just dont forget when you look for disc burners.
Yes...Blue Ray, I keep saying DVD....
There's a program called neoscene by cineform that a lot of people use for avchd footage....you might want to look into having that just in case.
I'll check into it.
Test the tv -- output real footage from timeline to the same HD Tv you plan to use at show ....output to make sure it likes interlaced footage.
Here is the catch, I'm in Brazil, and this work will happen in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and we arrive 1 day before....this is why i'm trying to prepare as much as possible, in theory, before hand....
You'll probably put OS and program on C drive
Agree.
put pagefile on 2nd drive 1.5 x your ram with min and max size the SAME MAX SIZE so it never gets fragmented...do that first thing so the pagefile is near the center of disc.  I guess you said 2 internal and 3 external ? so you can put your scratchdisk on disc 2 also...and assets and any exports you need to do on the externals...
I will have 2 Sony VAIO F VPCF127FX/B 16.4" Notebook Computer, with Windows 7 Premium 64 bit, processor 1.73GHz Intel Core i7-740QM, 6 GBs RAM, and nVIDIA GeForce GT 330M with 1GB Dedicated.
So, here you lost me...
1 - How do I - 1.5 x your ram with min and max size the SAME MAX SIZE so it never gets fragmented
2 - How do I do this pagefile to start at center of dics?
I will only have one internal disc, dedicated for OS.
Scratchdisk, assets and exports - I will have 3 external discs in total, one to edit, one for playing to, and the third one for copying....
plan on having an "emergency" helper that REALLY knows whats up with the computer and editing stuff in case you get stuck and have to focus on shooting and need help ...line that up beforehand.
Agree.
go to the gallery and see if you can do anything to enhance the lighting or color correct lights, windows etc beforehand...
test everything .....so you dont have surprises that make you crazy on the day.
That will be impossible as we arrive 1 day before...I'm taking my lights, tripods, color gels...
good luck  sounds like fun..
Thanks a lot...
one more reference just in case you want to check it out...

It's rather simple. Buy a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. And then a HDMI cable long enough to link your computer the distance between both devices.

  • Help, HD Video Out From Timeline? How?

    Hi
What is the Solution for play out footage from the timeline in Final Cut Pro HD-Video out to a HD LCD Monitor? Canopus has no solution, and I was looking at the Aja hardware also. I need HDMI out I think ? Your thoughts on what works? Thanks, Tim C.
What Card is reasonable? or What converter needed? Blackmagic Card possibly?

most of the cards are HD SDI out on BNC connectors. blackmagic makes a box called HD link that allows an HD SDI signal to be mapped 1:1 pixel wise to either DVI-D or HDMI. Your monitor will need to be 1920 x 1080+ for it to work. It Appears you will need both the card and the adapter. I'm using a Kona2 and the hdlink for the client monitor and it works fine. I use a real HD mon for critical evaluation. the info re this adapter and recommended monitors is here http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/hdlink/

  • HDMI out from GT7300?

I just picked up a ASUS VH222 monitor which has the ability to plug in HDMI. I was wondering if I can use this as my primary connection?
I have tried plugging it in (with an adaptor that switched DVI to HDMI) and there was no signal to the monitor. Then I plugged it in straight DVI and it worked fine.
Can you tell me if one of the DVI jacks on the back of the computer is primary, the other secondary?
Other than that, i can't seem to figure out what's wrong.
    Thanks in advance.

I'm just trying to get into a monitor that I bought. I realize it should act same/similar to a TV, but I am not sure what is holding me up. No one on the ASUS site has any answers....

  • HDMI out from msi n560 ti o/c

I was watching a blu ray disc form my PC to my LCD TV. (BBC's Blue PLnet
There was a bit when a nautilus goes into the deep sea and I got some horrific colour banding in the blue black range.
A mate tried the disc in his normal BLuRay player and its not there.
All vid setting are set properly as far as I can tell - 1080p @ 60htz (i tried 24 as well) and 32bit colour.
Is there a known issue of compression from these cards when outputting via HDMI?

The movie disc is fine - tested on another TV and player. I use this particular one as it has exactly the right gradient to show the issue.
Yes I have tried a different cable.
It seems to be fine with games and non blu ray disc based content so I'm not sure its my TV just being weak when it comes to dark blue/black gradients.
It does look like compression artofacts which is wierd when its HD playback. Originally filmed in HD so not unscaled either.
If anyone wants to try its
    BBC's Blue Planet
    "The deep" episode 2
    about 33minutes in.
just wanted to check the collective brain to see if there a known issue with BLu-Ray playback from PC.

You really need a newer Mac Mini with a true HDMI output, because that Mac Mini's DVI output does not support Audio.
You might try a 3.5mm to RCA adapter
from the Mac Mini's headphone jack to the TV's audio input,
but that would require being able to select the Audio input in the TVs menu while using it's HDMI input.
Optionally you could also use an external 2.1 Speaker System or patch the audio from the Mac Mini to your home stereo system to enhance that older Mac Mini's audio.

  • Audio out from HDMI port?

I have connected my TV and Booklet via a standard HDMI cable.  This same HDMI cable works fine with my DVD player.   When I use it with my booklet, only video seems to be sent to the TV via the HDMI cable.  Is the HDMI out port supporting only video, or audio as well? I understand the booklet supports HDMI 1.2, which should support an audio profile, as far as I know.
Let me know if you have been able to get audio to work over HDMI.
    thanks,
    John

I found your discussion attempting to find the answer to the same question.
I won 5 of these things at auction and wanted HDMI to be a selling point
I researched far and wide and now I think I have the answer now.
I had to reload the OS and  all the drivers for all 5 units
I read some of the replies to this topic and with some people saying that they had audio and I didn't, I felt that either I was crazy or someone is not truthful. so i had a thought ,
after about  the 3rd unit I tried to just try to hook it up to a TV bare without Nokia updated software
What do you know, it worked.
So I have come to the conclusion based upon using both units after testing them with and without the update, is with the stock driver provided, you will get the audio from the HDMI port; if you update the software from the updater(which I noticed it says the driver is MANDATORY)
    You will not.
There is a plus and minus on both occassions
With the graphics driver update you can scale your video once hook to an HDTV to full 1080p HD; but you wont get any audio (at least for now)
Without the update you will get the audio out , however you will only get the same native resolution as the netbook 720p
So contemplate which feature is more important you   and make your choice.
Higher picture quality(full HD) with the driver yet I need 2 cable  (HDMI AND 2.5 to RCA)
OR lower  resolution720p but audio as well
I hope this helps but i see my next challenge for both you and is to see if we can roll back the driver if we want audio over HDMI.

my samsung says video out from i pad is not supported. i am connecting with apple dock using hdmi. I do get the audio  any suggestions?

    Jeffrey-
If the HDMI input to the Samsung is not compatible, does it have a VGA or composite input?  I have both the HDMI and VGA adapters for the iPad, which work with the small Vizio HDTV I tried.  I understand a composite video adapter is also available.

  • I need to have audio out from HDMI and headphone jack simultaneously

I need to have audio out from HDMI and headphone jack simultaneously.
I seem to be able to select one or the other, but not both ? !
    Thanks

No. You can only use one sound output:
Why can't I select HDMI audio on my Mac mini?
If you connect an HDMI display or television to a Mac mini (Mid 2010 or later), you might not be able to select the HDMI audio device (in System Preferences > Sound > Output). This can happen if you also have headphones plugged in to the computer. Unplug the headphones to be able to select HDMI audio.

  • Recording from HDMI out

We have an event coming up at work and one of the presenters will be using Apple TV. I will be recording the event and want to capture the Demo from the Apple TV box to edit into the video presentation.
Is it possible to record from the HDMI out?
Does Apple offer a way to record the live stream?

Thanks for the responds...this demo will be live from what I understand. It will not be a pre-recorded or produced presentation.
I may have no choice other than recording one of the flat screen monitors.
    Thanks again.

  • Re: No Signal from Satellite C50D-A-139 HDMI out port

    Hi
I have connected toshiba Satellite C50D-A-139 ( windows 7) via HDMI port ( using hdmi cable) to tv plasma, but on TV screen appears only "there is no signal".
I am sure that HDMI cable works good, becasuse it works with Playstation 3 correctly. I have tried to click "winows button + p" "fn button + F4", but there is no result. nothing happend.
I have also clicked right "mouse button" and choose "screen resolution" but there is also only one screen ( laptop screen) to choose. I tried to click "detect" but nothing happend.
    Please, give me some advice...

I have downloaded all drivers from "slim drivers free". Program scanned my computers and said that "all updates have been installed". I have also downloaded "Hw set up" from Toshiba website. That utility is directly for my laptop.
And now, when I have opened "HW set up", I've chosen icon "display", then - appears dispatch like this: " this bookmark purpose is to choose inside display or outside screener during activating/starting computer".
Then i have chosen "outside display device" - Tv and HDMI. After that, if I restart my laptop, signal is transmitted to my tv and my laptop display turns black. But only video signal is transmitted to Tv, Audio is still coming from notebook. After that I've return to previous settings.
I have also downoladed "Toshiba Satellite A300D HDMI Control Manager Driver 2.0.0.1", I have installed it but it seems that program doesn't work at all.
About FN keys : When for example I click "FN+f5"- touchpad switchs off, when I click "FN+F9/F10, volume goes up or down. But when I click "FN+F4" computer "Thinks" for a while, but nothing is happening
As you can see, I have enabled right HDMI port. Furthermore if I disconnect HDMI Cable from notebook and connect it to my PS3 it automaticly works just fine.
In past I have been connecting hp pavillon (windows vista) to the same tv, and I haven't got any problems.

  • Can I display EyeTV's live TV over HDMI-out and be able to see my desktop using screen-sharing on a headless mac-mini used as a media-box?

    Hi,
I'm thinking of buying a new mac-mini to replace my current one which acts as an iTunes server and records TV programs using eyeTV. I connect using screen-sharing/VNC to be able to do stuff on it (like handbrake etc.)
I have eyeTV with a satelite receiver and I want to change the setup so that:
    - the new mac-mini continues to work as an iTunes server (and handbrake workhorse)
    - I can use the HDMI output (inc. audio) to show eyeTV's live TV full-screen app
    - I can connect using screen-sharing/VNC to the mac-mini and see my normal desktop to be able to maintain it etc. but this is a headless display (no screen is connected to the display-port).
    - recorded media I'd play through the appleTV2 still + rentals etc. unless anyone knows if eyeTV software can offer up iTunes content? I don't like the eyeTV recordings in general as it seems very slow to me for access when there are lots of recordings and wouldn't be available in other apleTVs in the house AFAIK.
The main benefit that this gives me is that I'd no longer need a seperate satelite box to watch live TV and can add more eyeTV hardware to get additional TV channels all through the same HUD on the TV for ease of access.
Does this seem possible in theory & practice (ie are there any gotcha's to consider?)
    - can I force the HDMI output resolution to 1080i as I go via an amp to the TV and the appleTV2 drops to low-res in this configuration so I have had to find a workaround for that.
    - does the mac-mini have IR input that can be programmed?
    - Does eyeTV software remain stable for long periods?
    - Does the HDMI out have any handshake issues that would need a reset of the display (somehow)?
thanks in advance for any thoughts/contributions
    Lee

I think the easiest way to do this is to have the EyeTV app running in one user account and sent via HDMI to the TV, and use a separate user account for Screen Sharing. Both logins can be active at the same time and with Lion you can connect via screen sharing to which ever login you need.
With regards to the Mac video resolution changing, when it is not the current input on your AV receiver. This is 'normal', if the Mac sees no signal it drops down the a lower level. What you need is to buy a HDMI Detective Plus which tricks the Mac in to always seeing a signal and hence it will not drop down the resolution. See http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=8005
The Mac mini does have an IR receiver. This can be used with the EyeTV app, iTunes, and similar. Yes I believe EyeTV would run for prolonged periods quite happily, it is has been around for a long time and had most of the rough edges polished off. However one issue you will have to deal with is that it does not automatically update its program guide data. For this you might have to write or modify an AppleScript. Elgato support or their user forums will be a lot of help.
You can set EyeTV to convert recordings to an iTunes (Apple TV) compatible format and then delete them from EyeTV.
The HDMI Detective should solve your handshaking problems.
