HDMI out not recognized.

I have a mid-2009 15˝ MacBook Pro. I connected a (cheap) Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and HDMI cable to my TV. The TV does not get a signal from the computer. Display Preferences does not show any HDMI or any other output. Help.

First I want to make sure I’m not missing anything. What should I see in Display Preferences? If anyone can get HDMI out to work, especially from a mid-2009 MBP, I’d like to see a screen shot or the settings.

    Hi Mac,
Does the 10.9.2 update fix the issue on 2011 macs where projectors with HDMI are not recognized via thunderbolt adapter?

So to be clear, this issue occurs on any input with the Denon Receiver.  Occurs from both HDMI out and MiniDisplay Port out.  Goes away when we reinstall the OS and update it to 10.9.2.  Comes back as soon as we update to 10.9.3.

Have you been able to use the Mac Mini directly attached to the plasma/LCD/projector with out going through the Denon AVR? Even with 10.9.3 installed?
I have a Pioneer AVR and I have the Mac attached via a HDMI to HDMI and all is working for me. Can your Denon do some upscaling? Some AVR, like my VSX-53 can change the scaling of the input video. Meaning if I still had my Apple TV 2 which outputs 720P only, can be upscaled in my AVR to 1080i or 1080P or even 24fps. Heck, I could even plug in an old style Red, White, Yellow cable and upscale it to 1080P and output it HDMI.
I am wondering if your Denon is able to do that and it might be set wrong. Check the owners manual for such settings. Even the plasma/LCD/project could be doing the upscaling too. So check that too.

  • External Monitor (HDMI Projector) not recognized in AE CC or AE CS6 with New Macbook Pro

Got a really tough problem that maybe someone can help me find a solution for.  I had an old Macbook Pro (2009-ish) that I was using in conjunction with AE and my HDMI Projector to do projection mapping work.  The laptop motherboard wore out recently (not related, I don't think) but now I've bought a new Macbook Pro and am trying to use the HDMI out to the projector as my external monitor in After Effects (I've tried both CC and CS5.5 and CS6). Under Video Preview it's not showing up as an option to send to (the choices are Computer Monitor Only or Firewire).
I am in a real mess as I am supposed to do a show this evening with a setup I've done lots of times with my old Macbook and AE, and now can't do it at all. I have to be able to have the projector receive the AE feed - and nothing I've done so far has helped. The system sees the projector, so why doesn't AE??  I can't just slide the program window into the projector's window space and enlarge - it has to be exactly 1920x1080 in order for me to align correctly.
If there are any Adobe folks lurking this morning I would CERTAINLY appreciate your input, as well as anyone else who might have had similar issues. This should work, it should be a no-brainer. Right now I'm running a new OOTB Apple Macbook Pro with HDMI out, and the latest version of AE CC with all updates performed. Please, please help!!!
    Thanks in advance,
    Bill

After Effects does not come with components for HDMI output.
Your other computer must have had additional components installed that added this functionality.

  • New retina display hdmi out not working

I have been connecting my new mbp to my tv for weeks and have not had any problems. Yesterday, I went to connect it through my hdmi and my computer is no longer recognizing that my tv is connected. It switches modes and configures my desktop like I have the external hooked up (I can drag things off my laptop display) but it is not sending a signal to the tv. I have switched out cables, tried a different TV and searched online. Why is this all of a sudden happening after weeks of normal function? Is it related to a software update?? very frustrated...

Some users have reported (in these forums and elsewhere) that they had a problem after installing 10.8.2, but that problem caused both the internal and external screens to go black.
I regret to say I do not recall reading about anybody else with quite your problem.

  • Mini-DVI to HDMI Cable Not Recognized...

    Hello all!
I just bought http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002LEY28O/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&p sc=1 from Amazon.com and it arrived today but when I plugged it into my iMac (Early 2008) literally nothing happens. I have tried power-cycling everything, starting up things one at a time, everything. (Searched the internet to!) Here's the specs of my stuff:
    iMac (Early 2008):
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    ATI Radeon 2400
    2 GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    1 mini-DVI output port
    ||
I am currently staying in a hotel so I do not have all of my usually electronics but I have tested it on an LG HDTV and a ViewSonic HD computer monitor and both do not work, it just display "no signal" and the iMac doesn't know that anything is different, the blue screen that is supposed to fade simply doesn't and under the "display" section there isn't an "arrangement" tab and clicking "detect displays" just freezes my computer (cannot move mouse) for 1-2 seconds. I ruled out the HDMI cable that I have by using it with my Xbox One and it works fine. Any suggestions?
    Thanks Everyone!
Also, you do not have to explain it to me like I'm 5. I am well capable of making my way around a computer.

    Hello Ratnik,
I'm having the same problem. Below is my question.

  • Satellite C50-A - HDMI TV not recognized

    Dear all,
I just bought the Toshiba Satellite C50-A-U19 (pscg6e) with windows 8 64bit 3 days ago. The HDMI connection to my TV worked for 2 days, but right now the laptop does not display the TV as a device.
I've tried several booting sequences, and tried to "find new hardware" in the device manager. I've changed HDMI ports on the TV. Still, there is no sign that the TV is recognized. I've tried using <winkey> + <p> but because no additional monitor is detected nothing happens.
I've changed the HDMI cable, and tested the cable (and the TV HDMI port) by using a playstation.
I've downloaded and installed the latest display drivers from the toshiba website. I tried using the device manager to see if any additional updates are available, windows tells me i've got the latest drivers already.
I've used the "restore system" function to set the configuration back one day, but to no avail. I've spent about 3 hours trying to solve this problem and I'm so frustrated right now.
I'm absolutely clueless what else i can do at this point to get the HDMI to link up with my TV. All help will be greatly appreciated. please please please help me!

    Thanks for your reaction.
I've not created a recovery media. Can i still do this or is it too late by now? Is it possible for me, after using the notebook for a week, to reset to " factory settings" or only to reset to the ssettings i have right now?
I should also note that the problem changed for a bit. First of all, i used the recovery feature again and the HDMI output worked for about a day. The next time i booted the notebook, the HDMI was recognized when the TV was switched on a non-HDMI channel. As soon as i switch to the HDMI channel on the TV, my laptop screen went black for a second (to readjust i guess) and it no longer recognizes the TV at all. It acts like it is not connected.
when the TV is on a non-HDMI channel, i can make the laptop screen go blank by using the screen option "only second screen." As soon as i switch the TV to an HDMI channel (making it unrecognizable for the PC), the laptop screen turns back on.
WHen i switch from the HDMI back to non-hdmi, the laptop won't recognize the TV again. Only when i power down and restart the TV it is recognized (but only as long as i'm on non-hdmi channels).

  • [Solved] a.out not recognizing the working directory

It's a little bit embarrassing because this issue doesn't seem terribly complicated, but I'm having trouble with executing the a.out file (Hello World) that gcc produces. I have to explicitly state the directory that a.out is in to run it, even though it's in the working directory. Other programs, such as Nano, recognize the working directory just fine and it is able to open files inside the working directory without having me explicitly state the full directory name.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The easiest and most secure way would be using the relative path to the executable:
    ./a.out
If you use a single directory for writing/testing your programs, you could add it to your user PATH. Not a major security risk, but if you do so, be careful what executables are in the dir.
    ~/.bashrc (or ~/.bash_profile):
    [[ -d ~/cpp ]] && export PATH="$PATH:~/cpp"
Adding the current working directory to PATH is a security risk, so I wouldn't recommend it.

i have a late 2012 macbook pro retina with bootcamp windows 7 installed, when i try to connect a display on the hdmi port, nothings happen
its like theres drivers missing for the hdmi port. i tried all possible things, went to screen resolution options on control panel and connect external display options.

one can make a driver stick in bootcamp on osx or one can download the zip file with drivers from apple

  • Losing connection, time outs, not recognizing password

i know there have been several posts about this, but all solutions i've seen don't pertain to me.
i'm using a time capsule, but the mac isn't getting internet/network connection. i can see my tc in the dropdown sometimes, and when i try to connect to it, i get an invalid password notification. i'm getting wifi on my iphone, so i know it's not the tc connection. after several attempts in network diagnostics, nothing works until i just leave the mac alone for several minutes. then it's fine again. until the next time.
this happened when i used to use a wireless router, and i thought that was the problem. apparently not. is there a "channel" on tcs like the routers or some other setting i can configure?
    thanks.

I just rebooted both devices again at the same time rather than one after the other.  It seems to have fixed my problem.

  • HDMI does not recognize TV as display

HDMI is not recognizing the Vizio TV as addiontal monitor. Here are my computer details. I have tried using my friend's laptop which also has a HDMI port and his computer was able to recognize TV as an external monitor. I have tried everything like, (Fn+F4), adjusting the mobility settings etc. None of them worked on my computer. Neither the video nor audio are being detected in my laptop. I have read your post on how you are not able to connect your notebook to your Vizio TV as an external monitor. Are you able to connect a computer monitor with the HDMI cable to your notebook? Is there an error message displayed with your Vizio TV, or is it completely blank? I would be happy to help you, but first I would encourage you to post your product number for your computer. Below is a is an HP Support document that will demonstrate how to find your computer's product number. In addition, it will also help if you indicate which operating system you are using; and whether your operating system is 32 or 64 bit. The more information you can provide, the better!

  • Macbook Pro 2011 DVI HDMI out does not work with TV when the power cable is connected

My Macbook Pro (Early 2011) DVI HDMI out does not work with TV when the power cable is connected. If get the blue screen and then can use the macbook but nothing is displayed on the TV. If i go into display I can see that there are two screens but nothing displayed on the TV. If i take the power cable out at this point the TV shows the second desktop as expected. If i then reconnect the cable, the screen flickers, as though it is being affected by the power cable, and the screen goes blank on the TV. Only if i remove the DVI cable do i get the blue screen again. If i remove the power cable and reconnect it will do it every single time, so i cannot see it being a TV issue or a minor glitch.
I have had this working previously but at the minute it seems to not be playing ball....any thoughts
    Thanks

Run MDP to HDMI for picture. Use a cable like this to run sound from your audio out on your Mac to your TV's audio in.  That's about all  you can do.

  • While syncing my ipod all songs and pictures were cleaned out of it and now it is not recognized by itunes.  Help!

Whiling syncing my ipod all of my music and pictures were cleaned out and now my ipod is not recognized my itunes.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and it didn't help.  Any suggestions?

What shows up on the iPod's display when you have it connected to your PC?  Have you tried resetting the iPod with it still connected?  To this, press and hold both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
Otherwise, try rebooting your PC, opening iTunes, and then reconnecting your iPod to a high powered USB 2.0 port.
