HDMI Output no longer working
My dad just recently bought a brand new Mac Mini running Yosemite 10.10.1. He's had it plugged into our Sony Bravia TV in order to watch movies, and it worked fine for a couple of days. Then today it suddenly stopped working. We've rebooted the computer several times, tried different HDMI ports on the TV, nothing. When I plugged the HDMI cable into my laptop (Windows), it worked fine, so there's nothing wrong with the cable or the TV. There must be a setting on the Mac Mini that we can fix.
While the TV is on another input, when we insert the HDMI cable into one of the ports, the screen on the Mac Mini flashes, and a settings window comes up regarding the two displays (the monitor and the TV). However, once the TV input is switched to the HDMI port that the cable is plugged into, we lose the signal from the Mac Mini.
Dad did say that earlier today, when he was in the display settings, he selected to optimize the display for the TV instead of the monitor, and that's when he first lost signal via HDMI, and we haven't been able to get it back since.
Looking for someone who is either familiar with the problem and has the solution, or someone who is willing to work with me to figure it out.

Yoga 13 HDMI output no longer works after Windows 8.1 update
I recently updated to Windows 8.1 (big mistake!), and I am suddenly no loger able to connect my Yoga 13 to my Samsung TV through the HDMI output. When I connect the cable, the laptop screen is deactivated; the TV registers a signal, but displays a black screen with no audio. I was able to duplicate displays (even though the TV remained black), and the Screen Resolution dialogue said that no external display was detected.
I've already upgraded to all of the latest drivers, to no avail. I can't seem to find a solution on the forum or anywhere else. Anyone have an idea what the problem may be?Hello KatieMcK

IPad 2 HDMI output no longer works since iOS 6 was installed
Hi everyone,
I need some help here,
I have a pretty old HD TV equipped with HDMI input ports, I was able to use my iPad 2 to do Video mirroring or anything else for that matter while the iPad 2 was operation with iOS 5.1.1, since I upgraded to the iOS 6 I'm no longer able to see the ipad home screen or videos like, Netflix, YouTube, basically anything my ipad was displaying, not my TV doesn't even detects a signal.
Are there any useful information that yous can share, I'm going crazy here as my two young kids want to watch their favorite show on Netflix through the big TV.
This has caused some discomfort and I wish I can find some help to fix it.
I appreciate your help.I have an ipad 2 running ios 6.0.1 and an older Dell TV (1080i) and have always been able to mirror. Running ios 5 the mirroring worked perfectly for sound and video. Don't remember if I tried while running 5.1. Now that I have 6.0.1, I can still mirror, but the whole screen is pink on this Dell TV. When I make the connection from ipad to the tv, mirroring starts immediately and the notification bar on the ipad home screen pulsates from blue to black and the cable is detected. I have sound and video working fine except for the colors. The ipad detects the AV Composite cable under settings>about but there is no TV out setting under General Settings where I'm supposed to see TV OUT listed under iTunes Wi-Fi sync. I have changed the hdmi to a new one, but it didn't help. I also have a new Panasonic Viera tv and everything (with the same cables) works perfectly on that TV. Leads me to believe it's an issue with the TV OUT function of the ipad. I don't know if any of this is helfpul information, but I thought it might help you narrow down what is going on with your setup.

I have a HP Touchsmart tm2t Notebook and was using an HDMI cord to connect to a television since I bought the computer in 2010. A few months back, I downloaded Windows 8 and ever since then, the HDMI connection to the TV no longer works. I've tried the troubleshooting steps that I could find and nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

IPad 2 hdmi connector no longer works with iOS 7.3
Hi any one else had this issue? I have always connected my iPad 2 to my tv via a apple made hdmi connector, used mainly for fils on netflix eat. Since firmware updated to 7.3 this no longer works. Is this anther apple issue? My wife has an iPad 3, pre lightening and the "official" adapter has never works just get a message that states the attached accessory is not supported.... Any ideas anyone???

Samsung HDMI 1080p no longer works after 10.8.4
Has anyone else had a new problem with HDMI connection to their Samsung LN40B series TV failing to successfully work at 1080P since installing 10.8.4?
This is happening via mini display port ---> HDMI connection with both a MacBook Air and MacBook Pro 13.
The 10.8.4 update has changed the video signal at 1080P so that my Samsung LN40B530P7NXZA no longer will accep the 1080P signal
It works fine under 10.8.3 at 1080P on the very same hardware and cabling. Booting back and forth between 10.8.3 and 10.8.4 definitely shows a problem when 10.8.4 tries to negotiate a 1080P connection.
Tweaking the signal with SwitchResX allows 1080P/60 to work under 10.8.4, but the natively supplied 1080P setting in the 10.8.4 display preference pane yields an unsupported mode error on the TV.
Reverting to 10.8.3 once more allows the 1080P resolution to function.
Interestingly, this isn't happening with all TV's. Another brand TV does fine at 1080P no matter if 10.8.3 or 10.8.4 is booted.
If you are using your mac to drive a Samsung TV at 1080P via HDMI, be sure to have a means of reverting back to 10.8.3 in case you run into this problem.Sounds like we are having a similar problem. Mine is with an external display, hooked up to a rMBP, using a thunderbolt to VGA adaptor. Problemed was visable immediately after updating to 10.8.4

After the upgrade I had sound for a few seconds then it was gone. I came back in a for a few seconds and then gone again. It's connected to a Yamaha receiver. The optical cable works fine and I haven't had any issues with video through HDMI. Tried a few cables and still have the same issue.
Downgraded my apple tv tonight. I tried dealing with the Take 2 and I am just tired of it. Apple, get your stuff right, please. Either that and come clean and tell us what you did to the music output? Anyway, back to the version before Take 2 and my music is sounding fine through HDMI to my tv and then digital coax to my receiver. Going to lay down and read with my music going the way I like it. Could care less about take 2 except being able to rent hd movies. Honestly though, the DVDs I have put on using handbrake (that I all legally own) look just as good as the HD rentals I did. Just need to learn how to get the 51. soundtrack and I am golden. Won't need take 2 or the Apple tv rental or the poor interface. Maybe Apple will get the hint and understand what customers really want in the digital age? Doubt it right now. They used to know, now they are just dreaming of bucks bucks bucks.

I have a new Mac Mini that I got up and running about a month ago. A couple of weeks ago I installed a bluetooth device, a headset I also use with my celular phone, to use with Skype. So far so good....but when I tried for the first time to fire up GarageBand, sound output was setup to go through the headset. So in preferences -> audio output, I selected "Built-in audio". From this moment on I haven't had any audio output at all. I turned off the headset, restarted GarageBand, and got "bluetooth audio failed", tried a reboot, tried deleting the bluetooth device and turning off bluetooth, rebooting again, and still no audio. Other audio applications work fine--sound from games, media, etc. come out the built-in audio. But Garageband still is silent. In the preferences there are no more references to the bluetooth hardware in the drop-down lists for the audio devices.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I have been searching the discussions and Apple knowledge base artices for a while and can't find anything.
This is GB version 2.0.2 (50).

Bill NassauerIn the system prefs, under "Sounds", the only device listed is "built-in audio", and it's selected. I've already setup the GB prefs, and they're still fine (see my original message). I've never played with the audio midi setup, but taking a look for the first time, it looks normal--properties are shown for "built-in audio", and that's the only possible selection...nothing muted, and volumes normal...

HDMI monitor no longer working after 10.9.3
While rebooting/upgrading to 10.9.3 the external HDMI monitor connected to my macbook pro '13
started "flashing" as in "detecting the display" similar to when you plug in the hdmi cable with the system running.
I'm not able to do anything unless I unplug the HDMI since it keeps retrying to "detect the display".
If I open the "display" in the settings panel I see between a "flash" and another that the monitor is detected but looks like it keeps "swiching on/off"
checked the monitor with another laptop and everything works, so the problem seems to be related to the 10.9.3 upgradefrom the logs

can anyone help,
I have trawled the web to no avail.
I can no longer project the laptop screen to my plasma,
I have tried the Win + P buttons and nothing happens, turned on amd off with the hdmi cable connected etc.

From my point of view some of the Win 8.1 drivers are either missing, not upgraded or not installed properly.

HDMI mirroring no longer works on 10.8.4
Tried to watch a movie on the big screen (two, actually) tonight on my MacBook Pro with Retina Display, but was surprised to learn this couldn't happen.
I've owned the computer for roughly eight months now, and HDMI mirroring always worked without a hitch. Prestine sound, sharp video, and no noticeable input lag. The two TVs I tried were a Sharp HDTV and a SONY HDTV, both under five years old. The HDMI cables and inputs were fine since the usual devices, two AT&T U-verse cable boxes and a PlayStation 3, worked fine.
This has gotten me worried sick that it might be my computer, and I know most repairs on the Retina machines aren't cheap. On the other hand, could it just be a bug in 10.8.4? I really hope it is the latter and there is a painless solution to this.

Qosmio X500 and HDMI output does not work automatically

Good morning.
I have a Qosmio x500 recently that runs on Windows 8.1
Previously, when I plugged in a hdmi cable from the PC to the TV, I had ( Samsung TV ), after a beep on the PC , automatically binding and made ??the TV is lit ( if it was in standby).
I could even control the PC with the TV remote control, put a movie , pause, etc.. Super convenient!
Source indicated on the TV Anynet + Toshiba pc.
And when I commutais with the TV remote control on TV, the PC screen is lit .
Off, despite repeated attempts with at least 5 software (drivers ?) Different Toshiba certified HDMI, I do not have it and I have to manually switch to see the PC on the TV (choose HDMI source on the TV) .
HDMICtrlMan is a folder where after installation, there are:

But nothing works !
I also updated the video and audio driver: gforce gts 360m
But now I hold!
And I do not know the logical progression of the computer when you plug an HDMI cable (totally depends on the graphics chip ?).

The problem is that you changed to a Windows system which is NOT supported on this notebook.
Of course you can use Windows 8.1 on this Qosmio X500 model but this does not mean that all notebook features would work properly.
Windows 8.1 is completely different and many Windows 7 tools and utilities are not compatible with Win 8.1
I dont know if this will help you but the Windows 8.1 Toshiba System Driver is very important software when in comes to use Windows 8.1 on Toshiba notebooks.
Try to install this Windows 8.1 Toshiba System Driver released for Qosmio X870/875 series.
But if this will not work, I dont see any other possible solutions.
Either you will give up the Windows 8.1 and will switch back to supported Win 7 or you would use Win 8.1 but without the automatic HDMI support. -
Am i the only one with a HDMI adapter no longer working ?
Hi. I own an Iphone 4 running ios 5.1.1. I used to be able to watch a video using my HDMI adapter when i was running ios 5.0.
But i recently wanted to use it and i saw it would not work at all !!! I was running ios 5.0.1. Then i thought i should update my iphone to make it work again, but in vain, my adapter seems to work no more... I of course tried to restore my iphone and checked my hdmi cable. Am i the only one or am i the choosen one like neo ? Thank you !first of all

don't own the hdmi adapter but got the component and composite ones and they work fine with my iphone4 with latests os
what I would do if I was me
first step of troubleshooting would be to reboot the phone

second step then I would try another ios device that is supported with the device (of cause only iphone4s and ipad2 and up support mirror so for testing I use youtube as I know that support the tv out feature)
trying out the other ios device would rule out that the cable is damaged and you just happend to notice around the time you updated os
third step I would try other devices that use the pin30 cable to see if the connector in the iphone was damaged -
I'm running FCP 4.5 on OS version 10.4.2.
After installing the latest itunes with video (not sure of that's related, but it's the last system change I've had) I have not been able to display firewire video out.
I'll start FCP, my deck (Sony GV-D1000) will go from blue screen to black (this is good and normal), then when the FCP workspace starts to build it'll swap back over to blue screen. Every setting indicates it clips should be displaying out like it's done in the past, but nothing happens. Stranger still, I can go to capture footage and the capture window and deck are in perfect synch-- I can control the deck fully through the keyboard and FCP's interface and see the footage both onscreen and on-deck.
Any idea why I lose control when I exit capture mode? No printing to tape, scrubbing through clips, etc.
I've had this problem before, and a quicktime upgrade fixed it. That was before I switched to Tiger. It has worked fine with Tiger until now.
I've been up and down the QT ladder doing installs, reinstalls, etc. but nothing seems to help. I trash my prefs each time before running too.
Any other thoughts on how to fix this?

JasonThis is a "forces at a distance" suggestion. If you happen to have Garage Band installed, start it up, then close it down. Then re start your computer and try to see if you can get playback via the Sony in FCP. I do not claim to know why this works, but it does for many folks with camera issues, such as yours. I am guessing that Garage Band gets to control and then clear access to the video signal. QT has video access ergo......see I do not really know.

S-Video output no longer works under 10.4.7, iBook G3 700MHz
Before the 10.4.7 update, I would have to put the OS to sleep and when I brought it back, it would recognize that there was a TV connected as opposed to a VGA display. Now after the update, no matter how many sleeps or reboots I do, I only get the settings for an external VGA monitor.
Has anyone had and fixed this problem? What can I do?
