HDMI Port doesn't recognize TV

I have a Satellite L735 laptop with Windows 7.
I'm using the same HDMI-to-HDMI cable I've always used in other computers. This time I wanted to connect my L735 to a Samsung LCD TV.
First time it worked perfectly. Disconnect cable from both devices and go to sleep.
Second time, the TV doesn't detect any signal in any of the 2 HDMI ports. And the laptop never gives me any signal or message at all. It doesn't even make the "device connected" sound Windows usually makes.
It's like I haven't connected anything at all. Tried the cable with another PC to the same TV and it worked, so the problem is in the laptop.
What could be causing this?

I am having the same problem with my Satellitte P745-S4217, running Windows 7.  The RGB output works fine, but HDMI does not work at all.  I tried connecting an HDMI cable to a regular HP Monitor (HP2311xi) to the laptop also, and no display. The cable and HP monitor are fine, because they work with another computer.
I checked both the speaker control and tried to find any indication in that any system was recognizing the HDMI and found nothing.
It appears from all the complaints scattered around the vaior groups that Toshiba has a basic problem in a defectively designed HDMI output, and so far has not found any work-around.

  • Macbook Pro 15" USB PORT DOESN'T RECOGNIZE ANY DEVICE.

I got my macbook pro 15" for about 1 year and 2 weeks ago, when I turned on my macbook and put my mouse ( Death Adder) into the USB PORT, my macbook DOESN'T RECOGNIZE IT. There are 2 usb ports on my macbook, I tried both port and there was only one port work correctly, the other one didn't work at all, I also tried to put my memory stick, external hard drive, vodafone 3g usb, ipod,....into that USB PORT but non of them worked. Is there any one here have the same problem???? Can you guy help me please. I stay quite far away from Apple Store so it is hard to bring it to repair. I tried to reset SMC, Update Software,...but still not work...HELP ME PLEASE...

I can't fault your troubleshooting. Sounds like a bad port.
Home remedies are limited. You can grab a magnifier and shine a flashlight in there. If you see any foreign material, use a toothpick or other non-conductive tool to extract it. If you can, give it a good blast of (dry, canned) compressed air to blow any particles loose.
Sometimes you can trick a flaky USB port into working at least intermittently by plugging in an extension cable or right-angle connector. Play with a device that lights up so it's easy to see whether it's working.
Take a hard look inside the connectors at the end of your Death Adder and other frequently-used devices. If you see any corrosion or bent pins, that's what damaged your USB port.
If the port requires physical repair, it's best to use Apple or an authorized dealer because if they make things worse while trying to fix it, they have to make it right. Joe's Appliance isn't similarly accountable.
If you need more USB ports, ExpressCard to USB adapters are dirt cheap.
    Good luck.

  • My HDMI port doesn't work

Hello I upgraded my windows to 8.1-64 bit and after that I found out my HDMI port and Bluetooth doesn't work , from this page I download Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver which finish installing with a error that says---------------------------
This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software.---------------------------
also I downloaded Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth 4.0+HS Driver for Microsoft Windows but nothing happend , in the other hand I am prety sure that my product bluetooth is  Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth® technology (it was previous  windows driver)  that I downloaded it from this link and it didn't work.I'd appreciate it if someon help me.procuct model: pavilion dv6-6c55se

Hi: I don't think you are going to have any luck running W8.1 on that machine. The Intel graphics driver won't work because you have the custom AMD/Intel switchable graphics and only the AMD driver should be used for that setup as it also contains the special Intel graphics drivers needed. You can try this W8 driver for the graphics, and if it doesn't work on W8.1, then game over. This package provides the AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver and Catalyst Control Center for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. For notebooks with switchable graphics modes, this package includes drivers for both graphics processing units (GPUs). Switchable graphics enable users to switch between a power-saving graphics mode (normally used under battery power) and a high-performance graphics mode. If high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) video output is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver. File name: sp59850.exe The Intel bluetooth...you posted a W8 driver. I would try the W8.1 driver... https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/23449/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-for-Bluetooth-technology-for-Windows-8-1- If you are unsure as to what bluetooth driver you need, you always install the corresponding model bluetooth driver for the model wireless card your notebook has. So, if you have an Intel wireless card, then you install the Intel bluetooth driver. If you have an atheros wireless card, then you install the atheros bluetooth driver, and so forth.

  • MacBook (2008) doesn't recognize Acer K11 projector over HDMI

I just bought an Acer K11 mini projector. Tried to hook it up with my MacBook (white, 2008) over a Mini DVI to DVI adapter and a DVI to HDMI cable (HDMI goes into the projector), but the projector doesn't recognize a signal. The same cable/MacBook combination is working fine with my LCD-TV. So I guess the cables are okay.
When I connect the projector over VGA (Mini DVI to VGA adapter and the VGA to VGA cable, which came with the projector), everything is working fine. So this means, the MacBook generally recognizes the Acer K11.
My guess was, that the projectors HDMI port must have some problem. So I tried to hook up my second Mac, a MacBook Pro (2009), using a Mini Display Port to DVI adapter and the same DVI to HDMI cable I used with the MacBook. And I couldn't believe, this worked like a charm.
So, fact is, the Acer K11's HDMI port doesn't talk to the MacBook or vice versa. But TV's HDMI port does. And Acer K11's HDMI port DOES talk to the MacBook Pro.
(BTW, both Macs have Mac OS 10.6.4 installed.)
Of course I'm familiar with the displays preference pane and tried all the settings.
Does anyone have an explanation for that behaviour? Or even better, a solution to make it work?

I tried SwitchResX now. Holy moly, this tool should have a big warning sign on it! I added the new resolution of 858x600px since the projector states this is his native resolution. I was not sure what to add for the frequency, so I typed in 50. I hooked up the projector, but still no signal. So I switched the resolution of the MacBook's display to 858x600, hoping this might make display synchronisation possible. What happend is, the display turned black and I had no possibility to go back. I did a restart, but as soon as the system was up, the screen turned black again.
Lucky me I had a bootable back-up, from where I could trash SwitchResX and all the settings on the internal harddisk. No blame on SwitchResX. It seems to be a handy tool, as long as you really KNOW what you do.

Skip the DVD player use an HDMI connection to your system.
    Use this http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD098ZM/A/apple-digital-av-adapter?fnode=3a&fs =s%3Dalpha
or for just Audio use the 3.5 MM jack.

Thanks for the useful feedback, Knucklesmac. I agree. I must have blown something on the logic board -- because I had a faulty old KVM switch that would not switch between computers without some nasty hot-plugging/unplugging the VGA video cables. (wince!). It's like when Dizzy Dean ruined his arm because a line drive hit him in the foot and he readjusted his mechanics around the injury. I take the blame because this has been a great computer, and does not deserve any blame.
If it will help anyone else reading this thread, C2G (née Cables to Go) has some interesting ideas for still getting external video out of this computer:
    -USB-to-VGA
    http://www.cablestogo.com/product/30545
-Convert s-video or composite video signals to high resolution VGA
    http://www.cablestogo.com/product/40971
The price range is $75-$85, which doesn't make horse sense to me for such an old computer -- which has a lot of life in it anyway, because its own 15" monitor is not chopped liver.

  • I have a Sharp Aquos lc-40e67un that and new Apple TV. It doesn't show an input plugged into any HDMI port I try to use.

I have a Sharp Aquos lc-40e67 television that is 5-6 years oldthat and a brand new Apple TV that doesn't show up as an input in any HDMI plug I hook it to. Is my television too old to use the Apple TV technology?

I checked all power connections first, then tried every available HDMI port on the tv. There was nothing showing on the input page that indicated anything new was available.
I'm not sure how to update firmware, inasmuch as I can't get the device onscreen to see any options.
I tried everything I could think of, including scouring the net for information before I posted my question here for help. Perhaps my 6 year old Sharp just predates any ability to use such hardware.

  • Why doesn't my MacBook Pro doesn't recognize my cameras or iPhone when I plug those in at a USB-port?

Even installing the Nikonsoftware of my camera didn't work. I've no problem connecting those equipments to my netbook with windows, but my Mac doesn't recognize either of them.

Check to see if the Mac sees them at all by opening the utility "/Applications/Utilities/System Information"
Then select "Hardware > USB" (on the left).  You can refresh the view by selecting the menu item "File > Refresh Information" or typing <CMD>+R.
Your should be able to see the devices in this list which will confirm hardware works-- USB ports are good, cables etc.  If you have installed the software try restarting.  Also try OTHER usb ports on the notebook.
After that try re-installing the drivers AFTER you make certain they are released for your version of the OS.

  • Satellite Pro P300 - HDMI output port doesn't fit

    Hello All,
Well this is starting to drive me to distraction and Im hoping theres someone who can put me out my missery lol.
I have been trying to hook my laptop (toshiba satellite pro p300) up to my LCD TV via the same HDMI cable I use for my PS3 but the connector just wont fit. I keep finding all these posts in various forums saying how they cant get sound out the HDMI connection...that would be great, as at least that means they have them connected.
Are there different connections for HDMI? The one I have is diagonal connector but the port on the laptop is more square, and just doesnt fit. So if there isnt a connector, does that mean I have a funky port, on the laptop.
There is also the matter of connection my laptop to my amp that controls the surround sound system. What connection is best to use, as there is no real audio out connections?
    Cheers

    Hi
Can you please tell us what Satellite Pro P300 you have exactly? I mean the exact model number.
Maybe you can also post a picture of the HDMI port. Normally there are no different HDMI ports, all have the same physical dimension.
Im not PS3 owner but maybe it has a special connector. Have you tried another cable?
Regarding the audio connection I use the normal line out port for my external speakers. Did you test this?

  • ANSWERED Pulseaudio doesn't recognize speaker until headphones plugged

Hi, first time poster here. Having this strange problem where, upon boot, my laptop can't play audio through the speakers until something is plugged into the headphones jack, and it then immediately recognizes the speakers. By default it always tries to play through the HDMI port; it there a way to change that? But that is secondary to actually figuring out what is going on here. I use pavucontrol to manage what is played where audiowise, and before plugging in headphones, the speakers are not listed anywhere in the program, but as soon as i plug something into the audio jack, speakers are found, and I can play through them immediately. This is very strange I think.
Everything is pretty much up to date on this system, and I'm running pulseaudio version 6.0 if that helps. Can add any information required.
Has anyone had this happen to them / know what is going on here? I would very much appreciate any help.
EDIT: nevermind, figured it out. Well, I edited the default.pa file and it fixed it, though I still don't understand why.

Well that is the problem, When I use pulseaudio (I just reinstalled it) It ignores the analog audio port completely and doesn't list it anywhere.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
The Apple TV doesn't officially support a DVI connection, however you may be able to get it to work. You will first need to check that your TV supports either 720p or 1080p as well as HDCP. If you are able to get the video working over the DVI connection, you may also require a DAC in order to connect with Apple TV's optical audio output to the TVs audio imput.
You may well wish to make sure that the DVI connection works before spending any money on a DAC..
