HDMI port in Nexus 2000

All models of the nexus 2000 has HDMI port
Installation guide says it is for console connectivity. There was no special cable supplied with Nexus 2000.
anyone tried to use that port? I want to what type of cable connector to use to console in to the FEX. Anyone knows what type of cable to use??
I know FEX can be consoled in using attach fex 101 command on parent switch but then what is purpose of this HDMI port.

Krunal,
It is not an HDMI port, though it kind of resembles one.  This port is utility port used by manfucaturing & TAC.  As the N2K is managed by the N5K which has your traditional console port, it's not necessary for console access direclty to the FEX.  It's stictly for diagnositcs.  These ports are standard on FEXs including the IO Modules within a UCS Chassis.
These cables are not supplied to customer or available for purchase.

  • Le GLC-T et le nexus 2000

    FR:
J'aimerai savoir si le GLC-T ( connecté à un des ports Hosts du  Cisco Nexus 2232PP) supporte  10/100/1000 Mbps ou 1000 Mbps seulement ?
    EN:
I want to knew if a GLC-T connected to a host port of Nexus 2000 (2232PP) is considerated as a 10/100/1000 Base T or only 1000 Mbps Base T ?
    Merci

    Think you Jeye
I had hoped for an answer  with  more technical  document than the datasheet because some times we find  in the datasheet  writed 1G for GLC-T and it appears by the table of the  compatibility matrix it can support  10/100/1000 Mbps ; BY EXAMPLE  in the datasheet of Switch 3560 (
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps5528/product_data_sheet09186a00801f3d7d.html) nothing said that the GLC-T can support 10/100/1000 Mbps , you can see only 1000 Base -T But in reality this switch support 10/100/1000 Base T when you looked in the Matrix table  :
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/interfaces_modules/transceiver_modules/compatibility/matrix/OL_6981.html#wp142660
and you can notice  in the matrix nothing special was said about GLC-T with the Nexus 2232
BUT I THINK YOU ! For your answer ( for me now the nexus 2232PP support only 1000 Mbps with GLC-T)

  • HP Servers NIC Teaming with Cisco Nexus 2000/5000

I have number of HP switches that will be connected to Cisco Nexus 2000/5000 switches.
In  HP Servers, there are multiple options for NIC teaming.  I like to  connect each port in a NIC card to two different Nexus 2000 switches  extension to Nexus 5000 switches.  Nexus 5000 switches will be  configured as VPC for clustering.
Wanted to know what whould be the best NIC teaming option from the followng HP Server's NIC Teaming options:
    Automatic
    802.3ad Dynamic with Fault Tolerence
Switch-assisted load balancing with Fault Tolerance (SLB)
Transmit load balancing with Fault Tolerance (TLB)
Transmit Load Balancing with Fault tolerance and preference order
    Network Fault Tolerance Only (NFT)
Network Fault Tolerance with Preference Order

Nexus switches only support LACP (802.3ad) or ON mode.  So, to match your server config with your switch, the first option is the best one to use.  I think, SLB is a Microsoft propriety protocol.

  • The meaning of Interface Ethernet250/1 under the Nexus 2000 is connected to Nexus 5000 switch

    Dear all,
Recently, I prepared and deploy a network monitoring system to monitor the new generation Nexus connected network.  With using snmpwalk to query the interfacs information from the Nexus 5000 switch (one Nexus 2000 is connected to it via FlexLink), I found that other than normal Nexus 5000 and 2000 ports(ifName to be Ethernet1/1, Ethernet1/2, ... Ethernet190/1/1, Ethernet190/1/2...), a series of interface with ifName Ethernet250/1, Ethernet250/2, .... to be appeared in the interface SNMP tree.   With logged into the Nexus 5000 and issue display interface command, I can only found the information on the normal interfaces but not the abnormal interface Ethernet250/1, ...
Would someone know what is it (do E250/1 is a logical interface like port channel or VLAN) and how to monitor it ?  Thanks in advances.
    HC Wong

I've not seen that myself. Could it perhaps be a VPC (Virtual Portchannel)?

  • Vlan Filter between Nexus 2000 / 3750-X

    Dear all,
I have 2 Cisco Nexus 5000 with each 2 Nexus 2000 in FEX Mode. My Vlan are all in fabric mode.
I would tried to connect a catalyst 3750-X and a nexus 2K together in trunk with filter vlan.
    NEXUS 2000 <== Port-Channel ===> Cisco 3750X
    N2K :
    Po: switchport mode trunk
          switchport trunk allowed vlan 10,20,30
    Interface  : e101/1/1 & e102/1/1
                     switchport mode trunk
                    channel-group 1 mode active
    3750X
    Po : switchport mode trunk
          switchport trunk allowed vlan 10,20,30
          spanning-tree bpdufilter enable
    interfaces : Gi0/1 & Gi0/2
            switchport mode trunk
            switchport trunk allowed vlan 10,20,30
            channel-group 1 mode active
It doesn't work in allowed vlan (not connection, nothing all) but without the command allowed vlan, my po and my interfaces are up. I tried wihtout LACP in mode etherchannel only but it was the same result.
    Questions :
    - Could you tell me if this a mechanism with the fabric mode or if there is something to add or modify ?
    -  If I have a VLAN 40 from my 3750X but not in the 2K, it is forwarding accross my interface ?
    Thanks for your help.
    Have a nice day,
    Matthieu

    Hi,
The 2ks are desihned for connecting end devices e.g servers, workstations, etc.. to the network and not connecting other switches to it.  You can however connect your 3750X to both 5ks using vPC.
    from the config guide:
Any device running spanning tree connected to a Fabric Extender host interface results in that host
interface being placed in an error-disabled state when a BPDU is received.

  • How can I connect my 3gen apple tv with HDMI to my bush LCD32TV022HD which does not have an HDMI port but does have 1)S-Video I/P, 2)Video I/P, 3) L

How can I connect my 3gen apple tv with HDMI to my BUSH LCD32TV022HD
This does not have an HDMI port but does have:-
    1) S-Video I/P,
    2) Video I/P,
    3) Audio Input (Left & Right)
    4) Audio In jack (for VGA and DVI source)
    5) DVI input
    6) VGA input

    Welcome to the Apple community.
The Apple TV doesn't officially support a DVI connection, however you may be able to get it to work. You will first need to check that your TV supports either 720p or 1080p as well as HDCP. If you are able to get the video working over the DVI connection, you may also require a DAC in order to connect with Apple TV's optical audio output to the TVs audio imput.
You may well wish to make sure that the DVI connection works before spending any money on a DAC..

  • HDMI port not working on my 760GM Mainboard

I think the problem is the PCI Express GeoForce 8400 Video Card is turning off my 760GM mainboard integrated HDMI port.  Is there a way to work around this or do I need to replace the card with one that had an HDMI port in it?

    >> Posting Guide <<
If you have a separate video card installed you will not have any output from any onboard video ports. You can try a DVI/HDMI adapter or get a card that has HDMI port.

    Hi @Almsoussi ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion g6 Notebook  and connecting a monitor or TV with an HDMI Cord. The HDMI is just acting like a projector and should not make a difference which graphics card you are using.
Here is a link to troubleshoot the connection with the monitor with the HDMI connection.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Hdmi port not working on HP Pavilion g7-2240us Notebook PC

I can't get my HDMI port on my on HP Pavilion g7-2240us Notebook PC to work... Can someone please help me? (it's windows 8)

This is ridiculous - the number of hits that come up for "Pavilion g7 HDMI not working" is astounding; yet finding a useful answer, or anything resembling a useful answer other than a document that instructs 4-yr olds on how to locate an HDMI port, is impossible.
HAS ANYONE FOUND A SOLUTION TO THIS?  Or is this a rampant model-wide issue that HP would rather not acknowledge?

  • HDMI Port not working on Lenovo G460 Win7-64bit

I've been trying to solve this for some months now.
I bought my lenovo G460 with nvidia M310 (with hdmi) this year and have not been able to get the hdmi port to work.
I have two lcd displays one in our lab and another one at home (LG 2361V-PF) which have hdmi connections in the back.
In the beginning I was able to get my notebook to work on the display in our office. However, now both displays (work+home) are not working.
I have tried to reinstall latest nvidia drivers as of 2010-11-02 (ver. 8.16.11.8990) from lenovo, completely restore Operating system and tried different hdmi cables.
I have even tried to use original drivers and also downgrade that to a lower version all with no luck.
I have even taken my LG LCD display to the LG After Service Warranty office and have found no issues wrong with the Monitor itself.
I am sure I have taken all the trouble-shooting methods into consideration so a simple question is...
    Is the hdmi port defective?
I will take my laptop into the Lenovo After Care service center this week, but before then is there anyone who has had this issue and solved it?  -->or is it just a hardware problem easily fixed with warranty replacement parts.
    Thank you
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    ::Update:: ----------> Partially SOLVED
    Lenovo After Service Center Report:
       1. hdmi connection is fine
They said that it could be a software problem and that they would try to update the driver.
    Partial Solution:
Use Lenovo Original Drivers, for some reason NVIDIA newest drivers conflict with hdmi port on Lenovo G460 .
I restored my laptop to factory condition and tested the hdmi connection and it worked for a few seconds ...
my lcd screen started to flicker and my laptop flickers now when hdmi is connected....(A sign that hdmi is not really broken)
Will update solution when i get it to work 100%

  • I have a Macbook Pro 13.3 i5 w/ no hdmi port. How can I connect my Mac to TV to watch video, photo ?  Is the Thunderbolt port a mini display port where I can use a mini display port to HDMI cable? If not, what are my options??

I have a Macbook pro 13.3 w/ i5 that has no hdmi port. I want to be able to connect the Mac to my TV set to watch Video, Photos and files from Mac to TV.
Is the Thunderbolt port similar to a display port or mini display port? Can I use thunderbolt port to connect thru a mini displayport to HDMI cable or converter?
Been trying to locate a USB to HDMI cable or converter (at a reasonable price) but all I found is a displayport or mini displayport to HDMI cable/converter.
What other options are available ?
Thanks a lot for your assistance.

Thunderbolt uses a Mini DisplayPort adapter to send video and audio to HDMI. • HT1586 Is it possible to connect my Apple TV to a TV withouth an HDMI port

I have just bought an Apple TV but my TV does not have a HDMI port - can i use it on this TV and if so what connectors do i need?

Hi @kateaird.Welcome to Apple Support Communities, and congratulation on your new Apple TV.
Unfortunately the latest generations of Apple TV only output video through an HDMI port. While the first generation also had component video and RCA stereo audio ports, they were removed in the second generation.
However, there are HDMI to 3RCA 3-RCA Video Component converter which you can purchase, to connect your Apple TV to a TV that does not have HDMI port.
    I hope that helps.

  • How do I connect my 27" iMac to the HDMI port of my LCD TV ?

How do I connect my 27"iMac to the HDMI Port of my LCD TV ?

    I have the 22" imac
beside it I have an 24" dell monitor
I used a miniDisplayport->DVi converter in the TB port of the imac
thats the best performance because DVI like Displayport are both digital interfaces
    same deal with hdmi really
so you need a miniDisplayport to dvi or hdmi depending on the inputs on your tv
and a cable and thats it

  • How to connect TV with limited HDMI ports?

My Panasonic Plasma TV has 2 HDMI ports. I have been using HDMI 1 for a DVD Recorder and TV linked through HDMI 2. This gave me upscaled 1080p resolution on both.
I want to move TV to the Component ports to allow me to attach a Cinema system to the HDMI 2 port. This will give the neatest solution for the TV/DVD/Cinema remotes.
Is it possible to connect a Cinema system (5.1) to HDMI 2 as I understand that this will "disable" the Component Ports.
Prior to getting the Cinema System, as an experiment I have attached TV with component cables but the picture resolution is poor, I suspect it is only 480p. Is this to be expected?
I would like the Cinema sound for normal TV and for iTunes music etc. Is this set-up possible and how is it best to set it up.
If not how best can I meet my needs?
    Regards

    Winston Churchill wrote:
If you connect devices to the two HDMI ports you have on your tv it should not disable your component ports on the tv, although obviously you can only select one or the other. I don't see any reason that your component only uses 480p (since you are in the UK this would actually be 576p) unless the tv's component input is limited to this resolution. Have you tried changing the video output mode from the tv.
One other option would be to employ an HDMI switch, but be aware HDMI can be troublesome when ported through a switch, if you choose this route, ask here on this forum for anyone with experience of the switch you are considering before purchasing, not all work properly. I have heard the extrememac switch is OK, but I personally have no experience.
I thought that switching TV off for a while it would reset and set up on the newly found connections. However I have invoked the Video output scan from the  Remote unit. This went through all the options from 480p, 576p, 720p, 720HD and 1080p, which were all OK. There was one hiccup when the picture exceed the Plasma height but re scanning reset this.
The pictures are now in the highest quality and all the thumbnails are now visible.
I was experimenting with alternatives as I wish to avoid HDMI switches and also by using Panasonic Cinema system means all the remotes are compatible, if not exactly interchangeable.
I will now have to decide which units give me the best set-up.
    Thanks again for the help.
