HDMI port of Portege R830 no longer working

Hello,
I have a laptop Portege R830 model number PT320C-01J018 and the HDMI is no longer working.
I have checked the cable and the TV is new.
What can I do?
Regards, Kattie

I don't have information on that model because it's Canadian, and this is the site for Toshiba USA. You should contact Toshiba in your region.

HDMI port on Macbook pro suddenly stopped working. Is it expensive to fix?

No one here can tell you what the prices are to repair things. We are just users such as yourself.
What makes you think your HDMI port is dead?
You can take it to a Genius Bar for a FREE diagnosis, make an appointment first.

Also check system preferences/Displays make sure that you have all the correct settings.
Check that the cable you are using is good.

Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.

  • Wired ports 1,3,4 no longer work on WRT54G

I have a wireless router, WRT54G v2, and the wired ports 1,3,4 do not work anymore. The only one that works is port 2, and after a variable amount of time, but within a day or two, both the lights for port 2 and port 4 will light up. At that time I will no longer be able to connect to the Internet unless I disable my LAN connection. If I cycle the power on the router it will go back to working for a day or so.
Until now this hardware had been working beautifully for almost 2 years. Is it beyond fixing?
    Thanks

try doing a hardreset or updgrade the firmware and check if it would fix the prob..and try checkin gyour cables also..if it would do the same thing then i guess your router hardware part is broke..

  • HDMI ports on LG 60FD TV not working after to using with iMac

I have attempted to connect my new iMac to the HDMI ports on my TV. The TV out feature worked fine for approx 1 day, but then for some reason stopped working. No HDMI devices will then work from that port.
When plugging in the iMac or any other device to these ports now, the TV recognises that something is plugged in, but shows "no signal" on the screen.
My TV has 3 HDMI ports, and by plugging them into my iMac, it has rendered 2 of them unusable. I am not going to attempt using the 3rd port for fear of that one being broken too. (The 3rd port currently has my PS3 connected and working fine. My PS3 used to work in all ports)
I sincerely hope I am missing something simple and there is some kind of easy fix.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Danny M

    Hi Danny
    Using what adapter(s) and cable(s).....?
Check the TVs owners manual or LGs support site, there maybe a way to reset the HDMI ports if they were tripped or overloaded by a bad cable or connection.

  • HDMI port on Z68A-G45 (G3) stopped working

    Hi,
The HDMI port on my Z68A-G45 (G3) M/B has stopped working and wanted to check how to go about requesting a RMA.
The other ports work fine though.
EDIT: I forgot to add, I had sent it to the retailer who returned it back because there is a very small hairline mark on the motherboard... err..

You should still contact them, perhaps they can get something done for you.
I did but tbh it will be easier for me to ditch MSI rather than try and put any sense in them.

The re-sellers position is that you caused the damage to the board I take it?
The so called "damage" is a slight mark on the M/B and they are being over cautious...
It does not stop the functionality of the M/B as it is fully working and the display can be had via the DVI port.

  • My USB ports and fingerprint scanner no longer work...

This problems requires a bit of exposition and I'm bad with computers so bare with me. A few months I noticed my USBs were not working on my computer, So I tested the same USBs on another computer and they all worked so I knew something was wrong with my computer. I decided to try some "solutions" online and only made the problem worse. Before my computer would at least recognise that there was a USB and try to do something with it, only to fail miserably. If I remember correctly it would say something like "failed to install device drivers".Ever since I tried those "solutions" all it does now is make a noise when i plug in a USB. Oh and my fingerprint scanner no longer works. I remember messing around in the Device manager and messing around with things. Here is what I noticed. under the USB controllers tab there is a list that looks like this Universal Serial Bus Controllers  HP Webcam  Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controllers  Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controllers  Unknown Device  Unknown Device  Unknown Device  Unknown Device I'm certain I've done something horribly wrong...My question to you is...1. How can I fix this?2. in the event that I am unable to fix this, is it possible that restoring the computer to factory settings would do the trick?

Hello 15lrobin  It would be more helpful if you tell us what computer model number you have and what the operating system is, so that the info we give can be more precise.

  • My connection via hdmi to my TV is no longer working. Even if I use a thunderbolt to hdmi converter

Hi, the day before yesterday I turned on my tv which was connected via HDMI out on the mac mini to HDMI in on my TV. Everything was working fine, however I have been trying to set up dual monitoring on another monitor using an HDMI to VGA adapter to my second monitor but nothing was working. I was about to watch a film from the mac to the TV wen I thought it might be the resolution on the hdmi out why it wasn't working on the monitor but was on the TV so I changed the settings and the hdmi to the TV cut out. My main monitor is connected by thunderbolt to VGA adapter and works fine. I can change all the settings for screen resolution on the main monitor and have tried every setting on it then unplugging and plugging in the hdmi cable from the mac to the TV. I get the blue flash on the screen so I know it is being detected but here is where it gets weird.
I figured I would try the thunderbolt to HDMI converter I originally bought for my iMac and again the blue screen flashes up but there is no blue flash or any sort of detection on the TV.
The whole time there is nothing showing up on the screen, even when I unplug my main display from thunderbolt to VGA (the main monitor) and connect the thunderbolt to hdmi adapter and plug in the hdmi to the TV.
I know it's not the hdmi cable as I have tested it on my youview box to my tv and it worked fine.
I also know its not the tv as iv connected my friends windows laptop to the TV using the same cable so it must be the settings on the mac.
I have tried doing a time machine restore to the day I bought it and have had no problems so far until I changed the settings. Why oh why did I mess about with it!!
If anyone can help please let me know ASAP.
It doesn't show up the HDMI output in audio anymore either, however like I say it flashes blue wen I connect the hdmi but seems to have no idea that the HDMI is connected in the display settings! It's so frustrating. I'm going to call the mac support today but if anyone on here hash as any similar problems n fixed them please let me know.
Btw I'm running Mac OS X 10.8.4. I know I can connect via a long VGA cable but that's not really the point. I, at least would like to get my mirrored desktop on my tv back from HDMI!

Ok so I happened to figure it out while on the phone to apple support. Even though the guy was very nice, I think I knew more than him! He was explaining very basic resolution principles I played about. I had the second option in displays resolution. All I did was unplug the HDMI cable, click on 'best for display' then plugged the HDMI in and my resolution on the normal monitor changed to the normal blue, then went black momentarily and then changed to a strange resolution but another window appeared that said SONY BRAVIA HDMI at the top! Hey presto! Don't know why it didn't do it yesterday - I probably left the HDMI cable in or something! Oh well. Problem solved!

  • T530 - Sluggish video through HDMI only. Was fine, no longer working right

    Hey all!
I've tried everything I know how.  Ran updates, verified the latest drivers were installed, etc.
Long story short, machine is about 4 weeks old.  Originally had no problems with video.  But just recently, video does not play properly via HDMI.  It seems to have started when Windows updates started downloading a few weeks ago.  Now I get errors every time it tries to download updates, and the video is not working properly.  Not sure if they are related, but that's where we are.
I can load videos (YouTube, streaming, etc) and they play perfectly on the laptop.  As soon as I connect it to my TV via HDMI, it gets choppy and sluggish... but the audio is fine.  Again, it used to work perfectly, so not sure what's going on.
So, any ideas?  This laptop is useless to me if I cannot play videos on a TV or projector via HDMI.  Pretty much one of the only reasons I purchased a new laptop.
    TIA for any assistance.

    No one?

  • HDMI output to TV is no longer working

I've seen similar problems posted here and have tried most of the "solutions" but nothing has worked....
A few months ago, the HDMI output worked fine; I plugged the HDMI cable into my laptop and didn't have to change a thing (no resolution tampering, no audio trouble, no projector selection).  Some time last month, I started getting the "signal not supported" message on my TV (Sony Bravia LCD), so I went and tinkered with the resolution settings and eventually got it working again.  The other night, I started having audio problems.  I could hear a slight hiss or buzzing, but that's it.  Before I could attempt to solve that problem, the TV stopped detecting my laptop altogether.  Now, I plug in the HDMI cable and nothing happens.  I just get the "No signal" message from my TV as if nothing is connected at all.  Sometimes, the laptop makes the "connecting new device" sound and the screen goes black as if it's connecting to the TV, but then nothing happens; the screen comes back on and never connects.
As far as I can tell, all my drivers are up to date.  I just did a BIOS update yesterday to see if it would change anything, but it did nothing.  Any suggestions?

  • HDMI port on hp pavillion 360 doesnt work

Hi I bought an HDMI to vga adapter for my hp pavillion 360. At first I could connect perfectly to my projector, but then a few weeks ago the adapter doesnt connect anymore. The only way I can connect to the projector is if I apply pressure to the HDMI cable in the port. Is the port faulty? The adapter is in perfect condition. I live in El salvador and dont really know where I can get my comp checked out.

  • Failing to connect via HDMI port on Marantz sr7002 AV receiver.

I tested the HDMI ports with other equipment and they work fine. The Apple TV works fine when connected directly to the TV, but I need the HDMI port on the TV to connect the AV receiver. I do get the sound from the automated voice ("please connect keyboard...., etc.) through the sound system, but no signal is reaching the TV when I connect the Apple TV to the AV receiver. I tried different HDMI ports, different cables, etc. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Rob - thanks so much for your help!  Could you tell me what "air sever or reflector apps." are? and where can I look for information about them?
Do you use them on the Ipad or on the PC?
Do I need a cable too and which one?
Sorry... I am not very technical as you can see, thanks for your help.

  • HDMI ports on Receiver full for Apple TV.

I run my TV, PVR, BluRay, etc through a receiver.  All of my HDMI ports are full.  Would it work if I plug a HDMI cable from my Apple TV to my TV and a Optical digital audio cable from my Apple TV to my receiver?

Yes that should work, you also might consider an HDMI switch.

  • Lenovo G580 20157 but no HDMI port?

    Hello,
My brother has recently purchased a Lenovo G580 laptop from New World in Menlyn, Pretoria, South Africa (http://www.newworldmenlyn.co.za)
According to the advertised specs (http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/essential/g-series/g580/index.html#techspecs) and the PDF manual that came with the laptop, this model should definitely have an HDMI port right next to the two USB ports on the left side, as well as Bluetooth connectivity, however neither are present.
Prior to purchasing from New World he looked at a demo model (the same one) at another store (Incredible Connection - http://www.incredible.co.za) which DID have an HDMI port and Bluetooth.
As such we are worried that he might have purchased a gray market, refurbished or fake unit.
When checking the warranty status (with serial number) at http://support.lenovo.com/en_ZA/product-service/warranty-status/default.page?, the warranty shows "active", though.
The laptop's touchpad is also extremely unreliable, to the point of being impossible to use without causing MAJOR frustration. We tried updating to the latest Windows 8 touchpad drivers and played with all the settings in the ELAN drivers, as well as the default Windows trackpad settings, but nothing helped.
Please can someone from Lenovo confirm whether this laptop should in fact have an HDMI port, Bluetooth, and a trackpad that works (I will provide the serial nr. in a PM upon request), and what we should do to rectify this problem.
    Appreciate any help.

Sorry but I can't relate that 20157 number to the 8-digit numbers in the 3book
Perhaps it's an international model that isn't in the 3book.  Hopefully someone else will join the conversation and shed some light.
I can say (again) that there are non-bluetooth non-HDMI G580 machines listed so I don't think yours is somehow missing those features "by mistake" from the factory.  More likely your retailer just didn't represent the laptop correctly

  • My mini dvi output port is no longer working (2007 iMac) please help!

My mini dvi output port is no longer working, can this be replaced or do I need a new motherboard? (it's a 2007 iMac, no longer under warrantee. Long story short when I was out of town someone cut my power cord on my tv I went to turn the tv on and looked at the back of the tv to see if there was any loose connections and found the cord sliced 3/4 of the way through. I must have bumped the cord and it sparked and made a loud pop noise. Well it fried the tv (which has since been fixed) but everything that was connected to it (my ps3, receiver, and my iMac) ports are all not working now... (and yes i did try new hdmi cables to see if it was just that) If this is a hardware issue what exactly is needed to fix this? A new main board? Any feedback would be great on this. I took it to apple and they said $650 to replace the motherboard... Was just wondering if this port can just be replaced or if it is a part of the main board and that does need replacing. Everything else works fine on all three things (ps3, receiver, imac) just the outputs are fried on them. Is there any other way I can do video out of my iMac other than mini dvi? I'm not paying for the repair so I don't mind having apple replace the board, but for $650... I may as well get a new iMac for $500 more...

If Apple said the motherboard is gone, that's your answer. Even if you were to find out the port isn't part of the main board, it's all connected when you're talking about a power surge/short as you described it. And yes, I'd never invest $650 in a 5 year old computer.
