Hdmi port on hp pavilion entertainment pc dv7

is there a way to record programs from a direct tv dvr to the dv7 if there are no hdmi ports available on any of my entertaimnent center components? i do have s-video output on my receiver.

Does your dv7 have a TV tuner installed in it, or do you have an external video capture device (USB, FireWire) of some sort? You cannot use the HDMI port on the dv7 as a recording input; it can only be used for outputting audio and video from the dv7 to a home theater system or display of some kind.

I am running Windows 7 on this PC and I was hoping to connect our handycam, a Sony HDR-CX110 via HDMI cable to the computer in order to stream through online site www.livestream.com
When connecting the HDMI the computer does not see the camera, which I THINK indicates the HDMI port on the computer is output only?

    Hi,
Yes the HDMI port on the laptop is output only.

    Hi,
Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Display Devices - make a note of the hardware listed here i.e. ATI, NVidia or Intel.
Next, connect your notebook via HDMI to your Tv etc.  Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click once ( just to highlight ) the HDMI Output that has the same name as your display adapter ( for example, if you have an ATI video adapter, you would highlight the ATI HDMI Output ) and then click the 'Set Default' button - see if you now have audio over the connection.

    Hi,
There are two compatible AMD boards for your laptop. 574680-001 with 1GB of dedicated video memory and 574681-001 which has only 512MB of dedicated memory and that is the original board I think.

  • My sound is not working? my laptop is HP Pavilion Entertainment PC dv7-3165dx

my sound stop working don't know what to do

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48501-49000/sp48830.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
If you still have no audio, open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services.  Check that the following services are all showing as Status= Started and Start-up Type= Automatic
    Audio Service
    Multimedia Class Scheduler
    Windows Audio
    Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type',  select Automatic and click Apply to save the change.  Then click the Start button.

  • Hdmi port not working on HP Pavilion g7-2240us Notebook PC

I can't get my HDMI port on my on HP Pavilion g7-2240us Notebook PC to work... Can someone please help me? (it's windows 8)

This is ridiculous - the number of hits that come up for "Pavilion g7 HDMI not working" is astounding; yet finding a useful answer, or anything resembling a useful answer other than a document that instructs 4-yr olds on how to locate an HDMI port, is impossible.
HAS ANYONE FOUND A SOLUTION TO THIS?  Or is this a rampant model-wide issue that HP would rather not acknowledge?

  • No audio from hdmi port on pavilion dv6

hey everyone, perhaps someone can help me out with this audio issue. i have a pavilion dv6 and I'm trying to pass audio through the hdmi port to my dvdo edge scaler, but it doesn't seem to be working. i don't have any trouble with the audio from the hdmi port to my plasma. but i also dont have any other audio issues with other units plugged into the scaler. I tried changing default audio device and then my media players stops working. so I'm very confused if anyone has any ideas I'm fresh out as I have been working on this problem for most of the afternoon. thanks

Did you install the Intel chipset driver , the Intel IMEI driver, HP Quicklaunch driver and the HP Software Framework?
The simplest way of reinstalling the OS to a new hard disk would have been by using the USB recovery media. From the HP Recovery Manager select the Factory image recovery.

  • Does pavilion dv6000 - dv6720ej have a HDMI port??

    does pavilion dv6000 - dv6720ej  have a HDMI port??
if not.... can i put one??? it is possible?

Just look at the computer and see if you can find the port. If you have it you will find it on the left side as you are looking at the screen. It is longer and skinnier than a usb port (third from left below). If you don't have it you can't add it.

  • HDMI port not working on HPG62

    Hi @Almsoussi ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion g6 Notebook  and connecting a monitor or TV with an HDMI Cord. The HDMI is just acting like a projector and should not make a difference which graphics card you are using.
Here is a link to troubleshoot the connection with the monitor with the HDMI connection.
    Hope this helps you.

    Hi,
Before go further, please try this Fn+F4 (2 keys together). HDMI should pick up automatically but try Fn+F4 o see how we go.

  • VGA and HDMI ports are next to each other; any VGA cable blocks HDMI port; want 3 displays.

The VGA & HDMI ports are right next to each other on the left side of the laptop.  I ultimately would like to connect two monitors to it, but am unable to occupy both ports because the everyday end of a VGA cable/extender is too wide. Any solutions?

Hi, Firstly you won't get 3 displays without buying more hardware for your dv7 that why you won't be able to plug 2 ports at the same time. Regards.

    Version 6.3.9600 Build 9600

    Hey @kirilsubacs ,
    Welcome to the HP Forum!
I understand the HDMI port has stopped working on your Pavilion G6 notebook.
It would help to know exactly which notebook you are using and the installed operating system. For information on finding your product and model numbers click here: How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number? To see which version of Windows you are using click here: Which Windows operating system am I running?
If this is a new issue I would start by doing a system restore. This will undo any changes to the operating system and uninstall any Windows updates, programs, or program updates installed after the restore date. This will not delete your personal files.
If that doesn't work try updating the drivers for your graphics card (GPU). You can find the drivers for your notebook here: HP - Drivers & Downloads.
Let me know if that helps or please provide the model and operating system of the notebook.

  • HDMI Port Problem

    H,
I have a HP Envy dv7 running Windows 8.1 and until recently my HDMI connection to the various TV sets in my home has been ok.  But recently problems have been occurring.  The TV screen flickers badly, audio problems and sometimes it says No Signal.    I have used several differnet HDMI cables so i know it is not the cable, it can only be the HDMI port I believe.  I don't think it is wear and tear as the Laptop is only about 16 months old, but if it is cannot the port be replaced?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Cheers.

    Hello OddjobBob,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand the HDMI port appears to be faulty, as indicated by your descriptive post. Unfortunately, you cannot replace the individual HDMI port on this model, as indicated by the product's maintenance and service guide.
At this point, I would take it to a local repair shop, or call HP directly. If you choose to call HP, you can utilize this website to learn how to contact HP appropriately, based on your region: Contact HP Worldwide
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks!

  • My HDMI port doesn't work

Hello I upgraded my windows to 8.1-64 bit and after that I found out my HDMI port and Bluetooth doesn't work , from this page I download Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver which finish installing with a error that says---------------------------
This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software.---------------------------
also I downloaded Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth 4.0+HS Driver for Microsoft Windows but nothing happend , in the other hand I am prety sure that my product bluetooth is  Intel® PROSet/Wireless Software for Bluetooth® technology (it was previous  windows driver)  that I downloaded it from this link and it didn't work.I'd appreciate it if someon help me.procuct model: pavilion dv6-6c55se

Hi: I don't think you are going to have any luck running W8.1 on that machine. The Intel graphics driver won't work because you have the custom AMD/Intel switchable graphics and only the AMD driver should be used for that setup as it also contains the special Intel graphics drivers needed. You can try this W8 driver for the graphics, and if it doesn't work on W8.1, then game over. This package provides the AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver and Catalyst Control Center for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. For notebooks with switchable graphics modes, this package includes drivers for both graphics processing units (GPUs). Switchable graphics enable users to switch between a power-saving graphics mode (normally used under battery power) and a high-performance graphics mode. If high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) video output is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver. File name: sp59850.exe The Intel bluetooth...you posted a W8 driver. I would try the W8.1 driver... https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/23449/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-for-Bluetooth-technology-for-Windows-8-1- If you are unsure as to what bluetooth driver you need, you always install the corresponding model bluetooth driver for the model wireless card your notebook has. So, if you have an Intel wireless card, then you install the Intel bluetooth driver. If you have an atheros wireless card, then you install the atheros bluetooth driver, and so forth.

  • How to change HDMI port settings from output to input to accept signals from cable/satellite box?

I have a new dv8t Entertainment PC with the HP Integrated HDTVHybrid Tuner.  The instruction manual provides 2 ways to connect the laptop to a cable/satellite box:  (1) coax/rf; or (2) HDMI.  The coax is a no-brainer; got it up and running in 10 minutes.  However, I am unable to get it to work connecting the HDMI cable, as the HDMI port on the laptop appears to be stuck in output mode.  How do I change the configuration of the HDMI port to "input" so that it can accept signals from my cable box?

Thank you Grant for the quick response. Well, it seems I don't know what I'm doing.
So, Mac Pro doesn't have any video INPUTS just Outputs. CHECK.
That is correct I have a six-input-port-selector with one input (SWITCH C2G). CHECK.
What I want is to be able to toggle through the inputs from the HDMI Switch C2G. That way I can use all my devices (Mac Pro, Xbox, PS3, Cable Box) with these monitors.
Since the Switch C2G only has one OUTPUT Slot, I'm thinking I just need to connect the monitors to the Switch C2G Output slot by using a 2 to 1 HDMI Adapter, but wouldn't I lose the true potential of these monitors by not connecting them directly to the Mac Pro?
Currently, I have the monitors hooked up with Thunderbolt/Mini Display Adapters to the Mac. So I guess I would just have to run just one HDMI with Thunderbolt/Mini Display from the Mac to the Switch C2G, and connect the other devices to the Switch as well.
    Jeez. Am I right?
What If I get an HDMI Switch with 2 Outputs instead of getting the 2 to 1 HDMI Adapter or perhaps a 4 to 2 Adapter. Heck. I'm not sure what to do here.
I would really appreciate anyones help.
    Thank you.
