HDMI signal disappears

I have a new Motorola 6416 dvr but when i connect it by HDMI directly to the TV i get a picture for about 3 seconds but then it goes black. I still get audio. I have tried it with 2 different HDMI cables with no luck. The HDMI worked with no problems when i had it connected to my Directv DVR. It works when it is connected by component cable with no problems.

I've had that problem with an EDTV we have in the bedroom for months now.  Used to work fine but now i get a message saying "signal not compatibaile.  Any suggestions would be great.

  • No HDMI signal from apple tv

I recently purchased an ATV (in the USA - I live in Europe) and I notice that ATV doesn't seem to 'connect' to my TV, ie. the tv consistently shows 'no HDMI signal', or will sometimes show part of the relevant ATV menu screen momentarily and then disappear. The remedy is to reboot ATV or disconnect and reconnect the power cable. Does anyone have a remedy for this?

I have the same issue. My Apple TV works when I reboot (unplug/replug) it. But if I attempt to change the resolution, put it on standby, or if I switch to another device and return to it later, I get an intermittent signal. Every few 4-5 seconds the menu/screensaver appears and disappears pretty quickly. If I reboot and watch a movie immediately it works fine.
My TV is a Olevia 542i LCD HDTV.

Anyone have any ideas? Could the AppleTV be defective?

My iPhone 4 with iOS 6 is making me start to hate Apple. Any App and at any time I open and I can not view it or move for more than 2 minutes, they close themselves. During connections, it also gives this problem and the signal disappears after a few seconds back but often the person on the other end has hung up ... I can not stand it anymore, someone suggests something?
Besides these problems, there is the battery, which was bad got worse, she is not lasting more than 10 hours, even without using the phone.
Sometimes it even seems that the problem was solved, but my joy did not last long after I celebrate all the problems return, is incredible ...
    thanks.
    Sorry my bad Inglês.

Try a reset hold home/sleep buttons until Apple logo appears

  • Z97M GAMING no hdmi signal with DVI converter

My monitor has VGA/DVI only (Samsung SyncMaster 213T), I have a HDMI to DVI converter in the DVI port, this works with the HDMI out from my laptop.
Am putting together a Z97M/4790K rig. I get no signal at the monitor from the Z97M's HDMI out, if I connect it to a TV I do get a signal.
Am using the same (short) HDMI cable and adaptor with both the laptop and the new Z79M, used the same cable to connect the Z79M to the TV.
So the cable and converter are good (they work with the laptop) and the Z79M HDMI port and cable are good with the TV.
Anyone have any idea why the Z97M HDMI output wont display on my monitor? (Any bios settings to make the HDMI signal more compatable?)

Yes, to be clear, there is no GPU. When I say the Z97M's HDMI out I mean the output from the Z97M motherboard. I have tried it with a second screen, the TV (it worked).
Logically one of two things must be happening... either the Z97M's HDMI signal isn't making it through the DVI/HDMI adaptor (when the laptop's signal is), or the monitor cannot process the Z97M's HDMI signal (when it can process the laptop's).
HDMI and DVI signals are the same, so the adaptor is just a plug converter ('square plug in round hole') and unlikely to be the issue, especially as it works with the laptop.
But both the monitor and laptop (which work together with HDMI and the DVI converter) are >5 years old. The Z97M is very new and could be it's HDMI output just isn't compatable in some way with the (relatively) old monitor.
Hence am wondering (for example) if there are any Z97M bios settings which might make it talk nicely to the old monitor.
Be interested to hear if anyone has had issues (or even success!) using the HDMI out with DVI monitors, especially old Samsung SyncMasters ?

  • Capturing HDMI signal to MacBook Pro for editing in FCP

I have a ton of old home-recorded VHS tapes that I'm hoping to capture to FCP editable QT files. I'm considering purchasing a Panasonic BluRay/VHS combi deck, the DMP-BD70V, because it supposedly upscales old VHS tapes for display through the HDMI cable output. My question is, will I be able to feed the digital output of the HDMI cable directly into my MacBook Pro 15" (vintage September 2007) laptop, or will I still need some sort of card to make the HDMI signal palpable to my computer?

The short answer is - not unless you are willing to fork over $600+ for the necessary converter. Probably the least expensive such converter is the Canopus ADVC-HD50, which can convert the HDMI signal to HDV and feed it to your Mac via FireWire. Something to consider is that you will be going through multiple conversions this way - VHS -> upscaling to hidef via HDMI -> conversion to HDV -> possible conversion to AIC or ProRes. IMHO not a great workflow, as it's likely to degrade the quality to a noticeable degree, especially that upscaling step.
Something to consider - the quality is limited by the original VHS tape & recording. Even DV is significantly higher quality than VHS. You will be better off converting directly from the analog VHS to DV using a Canopus ADVC-110 or 300 or similar analog-DV converter.

  • Apple TV starts, and then TV loses HDMI signal

I moved my ATV 2 from a newer 1080 HDTV to an older 720 tv, and now the ATV starts and displays apple logo and after 30-45 secs I get a message on the tv that the hdmi signal is not detected.
I suspect that the ATV is sending a 1080 signal that the tv can't use, is there a way to reset resolution or to defaults via remote?
    Is it something else?

I ended up reconnecting the ATV2 to the original TV and had to change the resolution to 480. I was then able to see the main screen, and change the res to 720p 60mhz.
It is odd though, the ATV was set to Auto for screen, and displayed during startup, but was unable to display main screen.

  • MacBook Pro 15" losing HDMI signal intermittently

MacBook Pro 15" Late 2011 (Mavericks 10.9.4); 4 GB ram.  I am running HDMI to a new video projector.  The HDMI signal is lost periodically for about 1-2 seconds and then comes back.  It occurs about every 5-7 minutes (about 20 times during a 50 minute lecture).  It loses both video and audio. Screen goes black but no displayed messages.  I have read a variety of other posts with similar symptoms with various computers (e.g. Mac mini) and even with DVI cable use.  In my case, I've used two different HDMI adaptors so it's not the adaptor. I'm pretty sure it's not the HDMI cable itself.  (A fellow professor does not have the issue with his PC and he uses the same equipment.) Neither the computer nor the cable is touched.  (I have another colleague who reports the same symptoms in his music lab.) Bottom line is that it's a distraction to my students and it's occurring off different Macs in different locations.  This means to me that it may be something with the particular generation of Macs we're using.  Looking for help to resolve the issue.

Assuming this is your machine - MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2011) - Technical Specifications you are using a DisplayPort (from the Thunderbolt/DP port) to an HDMI adapter. Non-Apple adapters have issues.
The other factor is that there are GPU issues with the AMD - problems with amd gpu on early 2011 macbook pro (there are many threads like this).
Either issue may be impacting your Mac connectivity.  The third-party adapters may not be able to drive signals consistently.
Can you test with an Apple-branded DP-to-HDMI adapter and the 50' cable?

  • HDMI signal IN imac

a friend of mine that is interested on a iMac 24 wants to know how can send the Playstation 3 HDMI signal on the iMac monitor... any idea?

The iMac has no video input of any kind.
You would need some type of device like the ones elgato.com makes. Even then I don't know if there are any available which accept HDMI signals.

  • 3G signal disappears every time while making phone calls

    Hi all,
After my iPhone was updated to 4.2.1, the 3G signal disappears every time while I make phone calls, but if it is hooked up with WiFi then it would be fine. Does the same problem happen to anyone of you? Any suggestions?
    Thanks a lot

I have had similar problems. I-Phone worked beautifully for about 3 weeks the I started getting static on my end. I did some research and narrowed down the fact that the static was only heard on my end. It started just sporadically but is now about 85% of the time when Imake calls. It happens in multiple locations and cities. The caller on the other end never hears it. There is no problem with speaker phone or playing music etc...It happens when calling hard lines as well as wireless (ie...verified calls to Sprint, Verizon, Nextel wireless callers as well as Government Land Lines, Verizon home phone and Comcast Ip Phone callers) Stopped in to AT&T and they looked at me funny and suggested I ask Apple to replace the phone.

  • TS1398 When the phone is locked Wi-fi signal disappears?! (iPhone 5 iOS 6.0.1)

When the phone is locked Wi-fi signal disappears?! (iPhone 5 iOS 6.0.1)
What can I do to solve this problem?
    Thank, you!

It sounds like to me that Apple has worked out a way that the data service providers can increase your usage of the cellular network to increase your bill which undoubtably has resulted in kickbacks. It is pretty crafty and I'm sure most people won't even notice. What really blows my mind is that they have people saying that it is to save battery life. I can't imagine that the ammount of suppossedly saved battery life is even messurable. Reeks of a scam to me.

  • KDL-55v5100 dropping HDMI signal

I am having an issue with my KDL-55v5100 where it drops HDMI signal speratically and the screen goes black and posts the HDMI 1 lablel then comes back on after about 5-10sec.
The TV is just over a year old. I have run a firmware update on the tv recently which I thought fixed the issue but it appears to have come back. I also have had my home theater system replaced becasue I thought this was causing the issue. It seems like that wasn't it.
I have my sataligth reciever plugged directly into my TV's HDMI port and this is happening again.
I'm not sure what to do at this point has anyone had this issue with this TV?

I have a KDL-55V5100 that we bought in December 2010,  We did not buy an extended warranty.  After only a few months, there was no signal from the cable.  Sony sent us a USB flash drive to update the operating system and that worked just fine.  Just a couple of months ago, we started having the problem with the tv shutting off for 1-3 seconds and then showing the HDMI input message.  It happens sporadically with no pattern.  I called Sony for help and was told that since it's out of warrenty, the only help available is online.  I haven't found any suggestions that help.  Thinking I'll never buy another Sony product!

  • Airport signal disappears when I use our cordless phone

Hi. I am running an adelphia premiere high-speed DSL modem into an airport extreme base station, which provides a wireless signal to an i-book and powerbook. I am also running a line from the extreme base station to a Vonage unit, for internet telephone, from which I use a cordless panasonic phone (KX-TG2216). It's a new set-up as we have just moved house. And I'm finding that whenever I use the cordless phone my airport signal disappears (icon goes to grey), and sometimes I even lose my base station network in the popup menu (necessitating finding it again on airport setup assistant). They're just not there... But they come back when I terminate any use of the cordless handset. Is it a hardware compatibility issue? Do I need some kind of firmware patch?
    Any help gratefully received. Thanks!

simonherb, Welcome to the discussion area!
Your cordless phone uses the same 2.4 GHz that is used by the AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS). Therefore it is directly interfering with your wireless network.
You may be able to configure the AEBS to use a channel that works OK even when the telephone is in use.
A better solution is to get a cordless phone that does not operate at 2.4 GHz.

  • HDMI signal not compatible with my Sharp TV

After the recent updates of my playstation 3 firmware, the HDMI signal is not compatible anymore with my Sharp Aquos LC-42A65M keeping in mind that I've tried video reset options, factory reset for both TV and PS3, changing HDMI cables, using different HDMI ports. My tv set works with any HDMI connection from other devices but PS3, and at the same time tried PS3 on other TV set and it works fine..I've searched the Internet for long time for any solutions but failed so far. My question: How can i make ps3 HDMI signal compatible again with that particular tv set. And by the way both were working together without any problems before the updates.

    Hi,
g series has dozens of models, which one is yours ? Re-enable HDMI sound may help.
    Right click the speakers icon,
    Select Playback devices,
    Right click HDMI sound,
    Enable it.
    Hope this helps.
