HDMI & SONY KDL-32EX302

Hello, I'm Trying to connect my Macbook with my Tv Sony, but for some reason the macbook doesn't recognize that model of TV. All the cables are right because i have check it in other tv, and it works perfect, But with that model is impossible. when I connect the wire, the macbook's screem goes blue and the goes good, but it doesn't recognize the tv. So I don't know what to to next.

Ok, I was already able to try out a DVI=to-HDMI cable. Here are the results:
1. no audio (as expected)
2. macbook correctly identifies the display as "Sony TV"
3. almost unreadable screen fonts
4. unreliable display switching
I disconnected everything and went back to the DVI-to-RGB connection. The display switched properly and there was no problem with Front Row. The screen was very clear too... I'm staying with this connection (until the Apple TV comes out).
Your mileage may vary but at least for this Sony Bravia, DVI-to-HDMI is not recommended.

I am trying to set up my apple tv on a sony KDL - 40xbr4. The remote is a sony RM-V302. I plugged it into the HDMI IN on the side of the TV but cannot find out how to get to that input. I am at a winter rental property and brought my Apple TV with me. I did check internet for solutions. The instructions I found said to use a "home button" on the remote.  There isn't one. I sure would appreciate help if someone knows a solution.  My first post - hope I did this right.

if its anything like my Sony, theres a button top left corner that upon each press i get an audible bleep and the AV inputs come up on screen, i then cycle down to whichever input i wish to select!
in case your remote is different, the button on my remote has a square with a slightly smaller square just overlapping the first square.
    hope that helps?

  • Sony KDL-48W600B will not display 1080p signal through HDMI

I just bought that sony KDL-48W600B  1080 tv and want to use it as monitor for my pc.. but the tv only shows pc content if I put the resolution to 720p. When I go higher the tv shows black/blank screen. What should I do to get 1080p output on the TV via hdmi?

make sure the TV is on when you boot the computer. I have had that happen, I am assuming the model supports 1080 mode.

  • Macbook and Sony KDL-32EX401 LCD TV

I bought a Sony KDL-32EX401 LCD TV and wanted to connect it throgh HDMI cable with my macbook, but it won´t work. After that I tried it with a Panasonic Plasma TV and it worked without problems. Can anyone tell me what to do that I can get my mac screen on my new Sony TV?

    hi krj027,
I have initially had the same issue as you. The Sony Bravia KDL-32EX401 seemed not to recognize signals conveyed through mini display adapter- hdmi connection. I corrected this successfully by using a HDMI switch, this is the link on ebay:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MINI-HDMI-AUTO-SWITCH-BOX-3-1-out-NEW-SEALED-/190474606666 ?pt=UKConsumerElectronics_VideoSwitches_SM&hash=item2c592bd84a#ht_1618wt937
I could not find an answer to how this made it work but I guess it is worth giving it a try. The connection I used was: macbook- mini display adapter- hdmi cable- hdmi switch- hdmi cable- Sony Bravia KDL-32EX401. I believe other hdmi switches other than in the link should work too.
    Good luck!

  • Just bought AppleTV and I'm getting 'No Signal' from Sony KDL TV

So I got an AppleTV (new) for Christmas and I'm attempting to hook it up to my Sony KDL tv using this cable (http://www.amazon.com/Aurum-Flat-Ethernet-Certified-Available/dp/B004LTQS1G/ref= sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1362340327&sr=1-1&keywords=Aurum+Flat+Series+-+ High+Speed+90+Degree+%28Right+Angle%29+Flat+HDMI+Cable+with+Ethernet+%2825+FT%29)
I'm getting a 'No Signal' screen from the Sony TV even though the TV recognizes there's something in the port.
    I've tried:
    Hard setting the AppleTV
    Switching HDMI ports
    and still nothing.
    What do I do?

    Check this guide:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1551?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
    Specifically:
If your TV screen appears fuzzy or black (you see no video)
Make sure the television you are using supports the Apple TV resolution requirements. Please see the Apple TV technical specifications.
When you connect power, check to make sure the LED turns on. If the LED is not on, then verify with a known good power outlet or connect something else to the outlet you're using for Apple TV and make sure it works (such as a lamp or clock).
Make sure you're using the correct video cables and that they are connected firmly to Apple TV and to your TV.
Connect the HDMI cable directly into the Apple TV and your television, remove any third party devices or adapters.
Make sure the input setting you've selected on your TV matches the input you have your video cables connected to. See the documentation that came with your TV for more information.
Change the Apple TV resolution by pressing and holding the Menu and Up button for six seconds. The Apple TV will automatically cycle to the next resolution at approximately 20 second intervals. Pressing the Selectbutton will immediately cycle to the next resolution.
If you are connected via HDMI, try unplugging and replugging your HDMI cable.
If HDMI isn't working on an Apple TV (1st generation), try component cables instead (and disconnect the HDMI cable temporarily). Read more about HDMI vs component video.

  • HT202157 my apple tv won't activate with sony kdl-40hx701

i cant activate apple tv with the sony kdl-40hx701

Does it start up ok or do you mean you get no video at all?
    If just black screen then
    Check these troubleshooting steps:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1551?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Specifically I wonder if the AppleTV may be trying to connect with an unsupported resolution giving a black screen.  Try cycling display resolutions using these remote commands in step 6:
If your TV screen appears fuzzy or black (you see no video)
Make sure the television you are using supports the Apple TV resolution requirements. Please see the Apple TV technical specifications.
When you connect power, check to make sure the LED turns on. If the LED is not on, then verify with a known good power outlet or connect something else to the outlet you're using for Apple TV and make sure it works (such as a lamp or clock).
Make sure you're using the correct video cables and that they are connected firmly to Apple TV and to your TV.

  • Would the Sony KDL-46EX710 be a good match with ATV?

I'm about to buy a new television. The Sony KDL-46EX710 model appeals to me because, unlike most other 46 inch models from other manufacturers, the Sony's relatively low overall height allows it to fit nicely into the space I have available.
I also plan to buy an Apple TV and I want to make certain that the Sony is a smart choice.
    My questions are:
1.) Will the Sony and the Apple TV work well together?
2.) Any advice or warnings I should be aware of before I pull the trigger?
    Thanks very much.

as long as it has an HDMI port and is at least 720p then there shouldn't be any issue.
2.) Any advice or warnings I should be aware of before I pull the trigger?
HDMI and at least 720p are the only things appletv needs.

You really have to mess with the resoluton, espescially the refresh rate, as it varies from projector to projector, monitor to monitor. Even within the same brand! Because so many manufacturers are trying so many different things to become the next cool kid on the block, and the way the formats are being configured that's now part of the game.
That's why so many professionally produced corporate shows hire a dedicated projectionist for the video presentations. Too many bugs in the honey.
Refresh & sesolution are the first things to look at.
Just so you know that colors in PowerPoint PC, and PowerPoint Mac, don't exactly match... go figure.
I forgot to mention another thing, sometimes it's the projector that needs to be tweaked.

  • E4200 connect with Sony KDL-46EX701 at 2.4 Only

My E4200 does not connect with my Sony KDL-46EX701 at 5 GHz.  The set sees the 5 GHz at medium strength or highter, but won't connect.  Password is correct and verified.  The Sony's UWA -BR100 adapter should work at 5 GHz, and it did work with my E3200 at 5GHz (unfortunately, it also caused the tv to recycle off and on whether connected at 2.4 or 5GHz).
2.4 works fine with the E4200 and the Sony.
Problem occurs with 1.0.0.1 firmware and 1.0.0.2 firmware.

As my first post mentioned, I've been there and done that to no avail.
I also tried a Netgear WNDR4000, with the same result.
I've noticed that the 5 GHz reception on the Sony looks weak/unstable.  I think the problem is that Sony's UWA-BR100 stick has poor reception, particulary at 5 GHz.  Worked ok in winter and spring, but even indoors w/AC and good ventilation, my usable wireless range has always dropped significantly in summer when it's hot and humid.
Anyway, I gave up.  I took and Linksys E3000 that I was going to return, installed TomatoUSB on it, set it up to be a wireless ethernet bridge, disabled the 2.4 GHz radio, and then wired it to the Sony.  Then I manually configured the IP settings on my Sony TV.  With the E3000 as a wireless bridge, the E4200 and the Sony connect perfectly at 5 GHz.  Expensive fix, unfortunatly.

  • I read that the apple tv 2nd generation output resolution is 1080p but the one i have only list up to 720HD  my Tv is a Sony KDL-42EX440 capable of 1080

I read that the apple tv 2nd generation output resolution is 1080p but the one i have only list up to 720HD?
my Tv is a Sony KDL-42EX440 capable of 1080

No, second generation AppleTV outputs 720p HD only, the 3rd generation outputs 1080p.
2nd gen can decode 1080p in theory but the output resolution maxes out at 720p.
If it's any consolation AppleTV 2's can fetch good 2nd hand values compared to ATV 3's.

  • HDMI - SONY TV

I have a MacBook Pro Mid 2012 with Mountain Lion OS X 10.8.3
I would like to connect it to a Sony Bravia TV KDL-32R4OOA that has HDMI ports. I have the adapter Mini DisplayPort to HDMI and the HDMI cable but in the TV I can't see nothing.
I opened: System Pref -> Displays
I clicked on "Detect Displays" but nothing happens
And I can see only two things: "Display and color", I can´t see "Arrangement"
    Thank you.
(If anyone speaks in spanish... I will be happy.)

Read the user manual that came with your tv and Solution may be found if you search in the "More Like This" section over in the right column.

  • Sony KDL-32W5710 & Apple TV.

has anyone managed to connect Apple TV to a Sony Bravia KDL-32W5710 TV as I have had no luck after speaking to both apple and Sony.
when when I connect it all up and select the port it's plugged into I just get a blank screen, I have tried the following:
apple tv on another TV and it works
changed the hdmi lead to one I know works
    tried different ports
gone through trying different resolutions on the atv
    restarted ATV
    Thanks.

make sure you connect directly into the tv
I've been using sony bravia KDL-40WE5W for years without problems

  • Connecting my iMac 2.8GHz to Sony KDL-20S3000 LCD TV.

Can someone tell me what's the best Adaptor/cable to use, the Apple Mini DVI to VGA Adapter or the Apple Mini DVI to DVI Adapter? Do they both include the sound too? or is the VGA Adapter/Cable just picture? I would need an extension cable also, because my Sony 20" LCD TV is about 4 meters away. I've heard the DVI to HDMI cable does not work with Sony LCD's?
    Thanks.

Nether of those include sound. Sound would have to be through an additional connection. Exactly which connection you use depends on what kind of picture that you want.

  • DVI from G5 to HDMI (Sony)

Hi Forum....I'm getting ready to take a two month road trip, and am limited on space, I have a wall mounted Sony Wega....and actually got an DVI to HDMI cable to use the 32" TV as my computer monitor while away from home. It works...however, there is an annoying flicker in the HD max setting. I noticed that I cannot change the refresh rate (which I thought would eliminate the flicker)....is there anyone out there that can advise me if I can do this...or am stuck with the flicker....?
    Thanks
    MW

Interestingly, you are right, the sunglasses work...however, I don't want to sit in my "darkroom" doing editing using FCP.... Interestingly also, the choice in HD that the settings gave me, we in fact interlaced....but there was no choice to deselct.
I'm trying that SWITCHRESX program...but really don't know what I'm doing....
Any other recommendations Switchrez settings or ideas to stop flicker???
    Thanks
    Mark
