HDMI Splitter Issues

I"m using an HDMI splitter with my Apple TV. Bascially I've run out if inputs and this little device, I think made by Belkin enables me to share Apple TV and DirectTV with one HDMI Input. All content plays fine from Apple TV with the exception of Rented Movies. I keep getting a message that states that my HDMI connection is not supported. Any ideas of what splitter I could use that would be supported? Thanks!

Hi Grant! When you say "switching cables" to you mean reverse the cables I'm using now? I tried that and sometimes the rented movie plays and sometimes not. Does HDCP have to do with the switcher or the HDMI cables? Thanks taking the time to reply?

  • Dual LCD (TV's) with sound on both screens. (not using HDMI splitter)

Just bought a new mini (late 2012 model)
Is that possible?  One TV via HDMI and the other through thunderbolt (mini display port to HDMI).  I have the mini as the main media player.  One TV is located in the living room and the other in the basement.  I run a long usb extender with a repeater for an extra keyboard and mouse for the basement TV.
I know I can get an HDMI splitter (sound would work this way) but just wondering if any knows if you can output sound via the HDMI and mini-displayport at the same time.

I have not had any issue with any brand TV yet
I dont remember if I tried a sharp on not. I do know that teh several Samasung ones worked fine.

  • Hdmi splitter work not good in windows 8.1 but in windows 7 it work fine.

    hello
I've always worked on Windows 7, and had to put in new windows and thought just go to 8.1.
but I had an hdmi splitter some which say in 1 and 2 out without a button.
in windows 7 that went just fine, but when I had to put Windows 8.1 is all very large.
count that the resolution just at the very state increases.
had already amd contol center installed but it remained so.
and MSI afterburner. but completely changed nothing.
I thought I got the splitter between sit so did my PC screen immediately and the image was normal.
as it should. but still if I put the tv in my videocard then is everything very large,
    but watch film can.
I got out there between for instance if I want to watch that movie and I've only put me TV on the right channel.
how can you have a solution?
my PC monitor: LG full HD 22ma53, 1080P resolution
my tv screen: Samsung full hd UE40H5500aw, resolution 1080
    my graphics card: MSI R7870-2GD5T-OC

I give up and return M500 (I had two drives).
I bought Intel SSD 530 180GB, cloned Windows 8.1 on desktop.
Set SSD windows partition as C: and HDD windows partition as E:.
Put SSD and HDD back to notebook.
Windows boot up from SSD in seconds.
    Result: SSD Crucial M500 + HP 250 G3 (J0Y29EA) + Windows 8.1 are not compatible.
I don't know which one to blame, but this combination is problematic.
Intel SSD 530 had some issues too, like windows freezing.
One can be solved with windows update fix it (diag) from http://support.microsoft.com/fixit.
Another one is waking up from sleep mode. It can be  partially solved in Power managment, but it's not elegant.
    So that's all for now.
    Have a nice year.

  • Using an HDMI splitter.....

Hi folks, i have a powerpoint presentation that I am needing to show, but am having to use an HDMI splitter to goto two projectors. It recognises the splitter, but either get nothing, or just digital static.  I can go directly to either of the two TVs without a problem. Using an older macbook pro with a DVI port, i have no issues. is this an HDCP issue? anyway to bypass or turn off?!?!?! Any help will be appreciated!

  • Using HDMI splitter on a TV with one HDMI Input?

Can you use Apple TV with a HDMI splitter for a TV that has only on HDMI input?

it's hit or miss many people report issues with such splitters likely a missing or poor implementation of the hdcp is the cause of the issues

  • Hdmi splitter

I bought a splitter, works great with all devices except you view, phoned humax they directed me to bt I rang technical support they could not help, they sent an engineer who said that because the box links directly to the tv there is nothing bt will do to fix the problem. I asked could bt advise me on a splitter that is compatible with their box. No! The only solution they could offer was to use the scart or disconnect one device and manually connect it when in use, this is not a practical solution.
According to other posts where people have been able to contact humax they have stated its yv software and the issue lies with the provider. Bt technical support couldn't tell me anything of any use. I explained as a customer the solutions they were offering me to my issue were unsatisfactory.
Nobody has been able to explain why I cannot use this device even the "engineer" couldn't explain other than it works fine connected directly so either connect one other device via scart or manually switch, I bought a hd tv, 2hdmi cables, bt & yv paid for xbox live bought a hdmi splitter spent a fortune to get told I have to either compromise on the picture quality on one device or go through the hardship of pulling the tv out and manually connecting. This is not good enough!!!
As humax insist it's bts yv software, bt should be more accommodating to customers, they need to find a solution and to advise customers at the very least that although hd ready they don't support certain splitters and list the ones that they do!
For a company that is trying to compete with the likes of sky and virgin
    1. Technical support should be able to advise on technical issues
2.engineers should not tell paying customers to compromise on the service they are paying for
3.if u can't fix the problem offer some degree of compensation.

I think I may be able to explain why this is happening.
Most HDMI splitters work fine when the HDMI link is not encrypted.
However, some devices are obliged to use HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) to protect the content. This is mandatory for Blu-Ray players and most Set Top Boxes including Sky, Virgin, Apple TV and BT/YouView. The box needs to set up a secure link with the TV to prevent copying and unfortunately most cheap splitters aren't intelligent enough to handle that.
I think you'll find your splitter won't work with Sky or Blu-Ray either.
Some splitters claim to be HDCP compatible and may work but I'm not sure how well they work and they'll probably cost more.
I use a Pioneer VSX-2021 A/V receiver which has 7 HDMI inputs and two HDMI outputs so I can connect all of my boxes to my TV and my projector and it works perfectly with Sky+HD, YouView, BT Vision and Apple TV so I can watch any source on my TV or my projector (or even both at the same time). This isn't a cheap option though - A/V receivers with two HDMI outputs are likely to cost £400+ but they also offer lots of other benefits including 5.1 or 7.2 surround sound.
In this case it may not be BT's fault, although they should have been able to explain this to you.

  • IPad no longer working with projector and HDMI splitter after iOS 6.0.1 update

I just installed iOS 6.0.1 this morning.  I use the iPad in my business tied into a projector via an HDMI splitter.
My projector was working fine, I installed the new iOS, and now I can't get the projector to recognize the iPad output.  Just giving me a "no source" message.
    Anyone have any ideas?

You can try these suggestions and see if any work for you. The first one is definitely an iOS 6 only suggestion.
Settings>Privacy>Location Services>System Services (swipe to the bottom of the page to find this)>Location Based iAds>Off.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
If that doesn't work - sign out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Sign in and then try again.
Even though you are connected to the Internet, it might help if you reboot your router anyway. Unplug it for about 30 seconds and thenlug it in again.

  • IMac to Hdmi splitter

We are setting up an iMac to a moshi mini-dp to Hdmi and then running Hdmi to a ViewHD 2 port HDMI splitter. The two outs are running to Acer H6500 projectors. For some reason the iMac won't recognize the output, however, my MacBook Pro does. I need this setup to work on the iMac. Does anyone know why it wouldn't recognize the external displays?

Hello, no idea why, but possible other options?

  • Trying to run 2 external monitors with HDMI splitter

I'm trying to run two external monitors from my iMac using an HDMI splitter but I can only get signal to one. I've read a lot of forums saying it is not possible to run two monitors from an iMac but the two monitors can be mirrored, in fact, I would be prefer it if they were.
I've got the mini-DVI to HDMI cable running to an HDMI splitter, one end going to my 52'' Sharp Aquos tv and the other to my 21" BenQ monitor in the kitchen.
I would just like to be able to have both monitors playing the same video at the sametime, I don't understand why this would not be possible.
I'm at work so I don't have the exact specifications but I recently purchased my iMac and have the i7 processor and the Radeon 5750 graphics card so I know it's not a hardware limitation
    What am I doing wrong?

I will reply to my own question just because I figured out the answer.
The Larger display has to be set to the maximum settings of the smaller display
For example: My sharp aquos has to be set to 720p BEFORE plugging in the BenQ which will not do 1080p
If you try to plug in the benQ before setting the Aquos to 720p, it will not work and you will not be able to change it after the fact.
May seem simple now, but boy did that drive me crazy for a while.

  • Will apple tv work with a hdmi splitter of some kind ? TV only has 2 hdmi ports and both are in use

will apple tv work with a hdmi splitter of some kind ? TV only has 2 hdmi ports and both are being used .
If splitter will work any recomendations as to best type to use

    The Hatter,
I am a novice at Mac so I read all I can.  From what I understand the NEC monitors I bought require Display Port for their maximum performance.  The GTX 680 only has DVI outputs.  Difference from what I understand is larger bandwidth with the DP.
You said I have the 4000 for CUDA.  I am not all that familiar with CUDA and when I do read about it I do not understand it.
A concern I have is, that if I connect the 2 high end NEC monitors via the 5770, using it's 2 Display Ports I would have nothing connected to the 4000.  Is the 4000 doing anything with nothing connected?  I read where in a PC system the 2 cards would interact but in a Mac system they do not.
Bottom line, as I see it, the 4000 will not be useful at all to me, since I want a dual monitor set-up.
So far the 5870 seems the best choice, higher band width than the 5770, and it has 2 Display Ports to optimize the NEC monitors.
I'm not sure how fine I am splitting hairs, nor do I know how important those hairs are.  I am just trying to set up a really fast reliable system that will mainly be used for CS6 and LR4.  Those NEC monitors are supposed to be top notch.

  • Anyone with experience using a Fosmon 3-way HDMI Splitter Hub Switch Port Cable Cord?

Would like to feed my new MacBook Pro laptop and an existing Dell Latitude laptop into the same 25" Hanspree HDMI monitor.  Appears that the above Fosmon 3-way HDMI splitter Hub Switch could work since the input feed is manually selectable on the Splitter Hub.  Before purchasing this and accompanying cables, has anyone had positive experience with use of this Splitter?

Yes, you can connect an HDMI monitor directly up to a 2011 using an HDMI cable.
Look at >  http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/mac_mini_mid2011_ug.pdf in Chapter 1 on Page 15 of the User Guide.

  • What is the best HDMI splitter for apple TV?

I need to find an inexpensive, but reliable HDMI splitter.  I have Apple TV and a HD DVR with only one HDMI port in the TV.  Really don't need anything more than 2 inputs.  I was told to purchase a switcher, but I would have to manually change the inputs to go from Apple TV to the DVR. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

A splitter is meant to be used to send the signal from one source to 2 TV's. A switch is needed to send 2 sources to 1 TV. Splitters may be used for some applications however there can only be one signal present to avoid interference from the other source. Auto switches detect the signal at the inputs to do the auto switching. I have not tested an ATV 2 however the ATV 1 always has a signal present on the outputs even when sleeping. I would recommend you shop for a switch. Many do have remotes but I would look for one you can select the source even if it has auto detection where it is buttons or a remote.

  • HDMI Splitter   360/ATV/CableBox

I was looking for an HDMI Splitter online.  I know that the max speed of HDMI is 10gbps, and most splitters I'm finding, (3 way splitter) are 2.5gbps.
Is 2.5gbps still enough to have full quality for an Xbox 360 (and possibly whatever the next xbox will be), Apple TV (mostly airplay), and an xfinity X1, all displaying at 1080p?

read many many many posts about people having problems with the appletv not working with splitters and switches when it comes to hdmi
but of cause people without problems rarely pop by to say their setup is aOK on the forums
to avoid splitters I made sure my last tv had 4 hdmi ports

  • Connect to hdmi splitter

I hooked up my apple tv to my tv using a hdmi splitter.  All my devices worked via this.  I then registered device and downloaded new software as it told me.  Now I cannot get anything to work.  My tv is on and does all the set up and such but no picture via setup.  It did this once I did the apple tv update
    What can I do?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Do you mean a splitters or a switch, a splitters won't work when more than one device is connected, only some switches will work, you may get those that don't to work by switching the Apple TV/TV off and on once you have selected the correct source on the switch.

  • Dual monitors with HDMI Splitter

I am wanting to use my ATV 2 at work to run a slideshow on 2 monitors. I bought an HDMI Splitter but it just has a black screen. If I hook up 1 HDMI it works fine. Any ideas?

It sounds like you are trying to use a passive splitter, which means when two displays are connected at the same time the Apple TV will be trying to talk to two devices at once causing corruption. You might try powering on one device at a time but my suspicion is it still won't work and even if it does you may well experience a degraded signal.
You probably require a multiplexer which is somewhat more expensive.
