HDMI to RCA 5 "HDMI-to-Component"?

I want to connect my u510 to my HDTV. The TV has the 5 RCA inputs for HDTV -- can I use a standard HTML to RCA 5 conversion cable to display output to my TV?

hi law5432,
This may not work if your HDTV cannot recieve digital signal through the RCA which was typically made for analog
You need to use a converter box like this
http://www.ebay.com.au/bhp/hdmi-rca-converter
Hope this helps
Cheers!

  • T410 DigitalPort to HDMI to RCA?

    Hi guys,
I searched and found something similar.. but no answers. I'm looking to connect my Thinkpad T410 to my receiver, to watch movies on my roommate's projector. The thinkpad has a VGA out, a DisplayPort out, and headphone jack for audio out. The issue is the only available inputs on his receiver are RCA and YPbPr (component)..
As far as my research can tell, this is looking like something I need an active converter to achieve? I'm hoping to get by with a cables and adapters only solution. I know we can go DigitalPort to HDMI no problem, but I believe this leaves me stuck..
If I go the VGA out route, doesn't look like there's a reliable solution either. You guys have any idea at all? Thanks in advance for any help you can give! If the old thread I did find helps, here's the URL:

You would need an active HDMI (displayport version are harder to find) to RCA/Component video converter for this. As you need to convert Digital into analogue signal.

  • Dual Audio Outs? / HDMI and RCA Analog at the same time?

I am trying to figure out if the Apple TV supports dual audio output. My Onkyo receiver supports dual-room/dual-source audio (powered and line-level stereo audio output for 2nd room). The problem is it can only accept an analog source for the second room.
I know that HDMI takes precedence over component video connections if both are connected.
Will the ATV send audio signal out of the HDMI and RCA Analog jacks at the same time so I can enjoy streaming music is two rooms simultaneously?

I like to be a helpful soul, so I decided to pull the owner's manual from Onkyo and take a look at the receiver, without ever thinking about the model number, and come to find out, I have my Apple TV hooked into an Onkyo TX-SR606.
    I appreciate that!
    Iowabeerguy wrote:
Problem is, I have the HDMI into the Onkyo and the analog outs going to to another stereo receiver for the outdoor speakers. Both work at the same time, which means that the Apple TV will output both digital and analog at the same time.
    Good to know.

Now, let's look at the receiver - if you have the HDMI plugged into the - say DVD input, and it's playing through the main system, and you plug the analog outputs into the DVD analog in on the receiver, the Zone 2 out will automatically look at the HDMI input, and not put out anything to the Zone 2 outs, because it won't pass digital to the Zone 2 outs.
    Oh yeah, that makes sense!

I can't try it tonight, but I think if you plug the analog outputs from the Apple TV to an input that isn't assigned to an HDMI in, (like CD) and then set the Zone 2 amp to play that source, it should work.
I've set aside some "tinkering" time this weekend to try that. I'll let you know if it works; I think it will. Thanks again!

  • HDMI to RCA

I know Apple TV 2nd gen only comes with an HDMI output. Are there any adapter cables that convert HDMI to the older 3-RCA TV cable hookups?

HDMI to 3 RCA refers to HDMI to Component RCA + L/R Audio (Yellow and Red-White). Btw, cables are not the best answers for HDMI to RCA transmissions in Apple Tv. This HDMI to Composite RCA Converter supposed to solve your problem: http://hdmitorcaconverter.com/hdmi-to-composite-s-video-converter-3-rca-crt-tv-c vbs/
If you need an HDMI to Component (Red-Green-Blue) RCA Converter, this one is rated as the best HDMI to Component RCA Converter by consumers: http://hdmitorcaconverter.com/2-input-hdmi-to-rgb-component-ypbpr-vga-2x1-switch -converter-with-5-1-surround-sound-support/

  • How to connect Apple TV (2g) HDMI to HDTV with only component video input.

Trying to connect Apple TV (2g) HDMI to HDTV with only component video input.  Can I use a simple cable or do I need a converter box/plug? Is the HDMI signal coming from ATV encrypted or HDCP enabled?
The TV is HD, but only has a component input and not HDMI.  Apple TV 2g only has HDMI output.

    google component hdmi converter
but they are pretty expensive and may not work at all
and will not work with any DRM material as in movies you reant and maybe netflix and the sports thingy

My question now is, if it would play HDCP protected movies this way?

  • Mix HDMI And RCA?

I have a 32" Vizio LCD HDTV and have only used HDMI for my connections to my Uverse box and PS3. I got back an old stereo and set of speakers and wanted to use this to set up a 'poor mans surround sound' system. I tried with the PS3, but I believe with the PS3 set on HDMI settings it won't push out sound through the speakers? Unless I don't have something set up correctly. I tried RCA from the stereo to the TV, with the HDMI still in the TV to PS3, and I tried RCA from PS3 to stereo, along with HDMI from PS3 to TV. Any ideas here?
I was able to hook up my Uverse to my stereo though and get sound through the TV and speakers, though I feel like the quality in the sound out the speakers is now fuzzy, or maybe I'm paranoid. I unhooked everything and went back to my straigh HDMI setup I had before tampering with everything, and the quality is still the same. I've turned both the tv and the box off, nothing. Could trying to mix up the two messed my tv up? I will also mention though that it might be my box, and the show I was watching during testing was freezing frames but continuing with the audio every couple of minutes. I'm reseting the main box after this post, but some insight would still be helpful
    Many thanks in advance

Don't know about the Uverse, but the PS3 has a separate menu for audio output settings - it is capable of outputting audio to a different output than HDMI even when HDMI is in use for video.  I have mine set to HDMI video output and optical audio output.
I know two options are HDMI and Optical - don't remember the third at the moment.

  • HDMI to RCA converter for Audio only

I purchased an Apple TV for the airplay for audio only and adding an HDMI to RCA converter (universal unit from Amazon).  Is there any specifications I need to look for on the converter for this to work?  I am aware of issues when using the video portion of a converter, but I don't see anything for the audio.

maybe easier to find a optical -> RCA converter as the optical is audio only
though heard some people repport that if hdmi is not connected optical is muted but don't know for sure
if I may ask then why on eath get an appletv for audio only
an airport express would do the same thing and a minijack already and is cheaper

  • APPLE TV 2 - Can I connect to non-HDMI TV via HDMI-capable AV reciever?

I have an older Sony Trinitron TV that is not HDMI-capable. I have all of my video components (DirecTV, Blu-Ray, Wii) connected to it via component cable from a DENON AVR-2307C1 receiver. I connected my new Apple TV 2 to the receiver via the HDMI cable and set up the receiver input properly. I can hear the Apple TV (I'm getting the Welcome voice message) but only get a black screen. Is there any way to make this work? Could it be as simple as a bad HDMI cable? Or should I return the Apple TV?
    Thanks,
    Ian

SOLVED....I had the same issue when I bought my son an apple tv and discovered he has an older tv without hdmi, but WAS ABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE!  You need to buy an HDMI to RCA converter. I got the HDMI to 5 RCA because he has the 5 red, green, blue video w/ red & white audio inputs, if you only have three inputs,  red, white and yellow you can get the HDMI to RCA 3 converter. I got the converter on Amazon for around $35.00. It works like a charm!  This is the one I purchased.  http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B002WBOQPU/ref=sr_1_1_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=132 4389131&sr=8-1&condition=new  Hope this helps as both my son and I are extremely happy that he can use the Apple tv with his older TV.

  • Where do you buy a lightning AV adapter and a HDMI to Micro-HDMI cable?

I need to connect my iphone 5s to the micovision projector.  I have read that I need a Lightning AV adapter and a HDMI to Micro-HDMI cable.  Where can this be purchased?

    Hi,
You'll actually need a DCU-60 or DCU-61 for your T707 phone. The DCU-10 is for some of our much old phones.
This is your official purchase point for Australia http://se.mobilefulfilment.com.au/Products/ViewProduct.aspx?ProductVariantId=5D1102D4447541EBB7C8

  • Hdmi to RCA adapter

I'm using a new intel mac mini to replace a video player in our middle school production studio. the Mac mini is running Mac is Lion, and a software package called Playback Pro. the main monitor is using the mini display port, and I purchased an hdmi to the RCA cable (yellow, red, white) for the connection of the playback into the production switcher. I cannot get composite video to work vid the hdmi port, but a standard hdmi to hdmi connection to a flat screen LCD monitor works just fine. how can I get this cable to work without having to purchase a hdmi to composite box?

...I cannot get composite video to work vid the hdmi port,...how can I get this cable to work without having to purchase a hdmi to composite box?
    Simple answer: you can't.
The "RCA connectors" are an analog signal, while HDMI is a digital signal.  Some computers will make the same connectors do double duty.  (e.g.: Most computer's DVI port has analog VGA signals.)  But most HDMI ports do not have analog signals on them.  the cable you purchased is likely for a specific model of computer, which does have an HDMI connector doing double-duty.  So would only get composite video with that specific model of computer.
Even the mini-displayport on the Mini, which does provide an analog VGA signal, that is not directly compatible with analog composite video (or analog component video.)
So unfortunately, you need an adapter to get composite video from a Mac Mini, and not just a "simple cable."

  • Appletx and hdmi to RCA cable?

I don't have an HD TV and my input to my TV is an RCA three connector type. Can I connect my Appletv to my tv with a HD to RCA cable?

there are likely to be converters which will make a hdmi signal into a composite one (if you by 3 rca mean red white and yellow) but it will look like **** and it will not play DRM material as things rented or gotten from netflix or that sports thingy

  • Apple TV HDMI to RCA

Ive been doing research on how to connect the new Apple TV to me TV that has RCA inputs. Im not sure if I can use a cord like this (http://www.dinodirect.com/ProductReviews/ProductID-32644.html) or if I need a hdmi to composite connector?
P.S. That is the only cord I could find online

I bought an HDMI switch from Monoprice.com. I do not want to post the link, because I have already had posts removed, as it is not permitted in these forums.
A switch may or may not work for you, as it is hit-and-miss at times.
I got a switch that had RCA component out as well. My TV only had a DVI inputs. I assume that your TV does not have an HDMI input, as if it did, it would not have a need for RCA component audio in.
This switch allowed me to route everything from the ATV2 into my TV with one device. The switch was about $60 USD and the cable about $7 USD. That was a small price to pay, considering the cost of some new TV's.
Your TV needs to be capable of 720P and be HDCP compliant though. Confirm that if you have not.
I hope you are able to get it up and working. The APTV2 is a great device, but has some compatibility issues, even with fully compatible new TV that have HDMI and are HDCP compliant.
