Hdmi to thunderbolt for camera input??

We have a mid-2011 17" Macbook Pro and have a Panasonic HMC150 camera that we need to input for a Webex conference.  The camera is HDMI out.  Does anyone know if an HDMI to Thunderbolt adapter will allow the Macbook to recognize the camera?  Or is the Thunderbolt/mini-display port on the Macbook just an output.  If it WOULD work, is there a recommended adapter or must we use a powered converter?  Thanks!

Not 100% sure on this but I believe this may be what you are looking for.

  • HDMI vs RGB for TV input?

    G'day,
at present have my macbook hooked into my 42" Pioneer plasma through the s-video lead, this is fine for itunes etc but not so cool for reviewing documents (or writing my thesis) have mucked around with resolutions and zooms etc but i still want a clearer picture. As with most new TV's i have a miriad of options to plug god knows what into the back of the tv - but which is best?? intuitively i would go with the RGB - looks like it should be attached to a computer;), but would the HDMI be better?? (what is HDMI anyway?)
i'm assuming whatever i do i still need to get the mini DVI to DVI adapter?
    Regards
    Dougal

It's worse, with macbooks the DVI is a digitial interface (digital signals). In order to do RGB it needs to be converted to analog, this conversion process results in some loss. If you were to go DVI->HDMI I believe that would result in the best picture possible.
To be honest though, I have a 40" Sony Bravia LCD and I hooked my macbook up to it and I coudn't really see myself using it that way for normal everyday computing. DVD's or Photo slideshows it's good but I couldn't find a happy medium for working efficiently with it like that.

  • Does Boot Camp or Virtual PC support firewire for camera input?

I have found Parallels does not have a camera firewire driver. Has anyone found another solution in Windows XP?
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I believe that Boot Camp supports firewire cameras. In addition, the newest version (1.1.2) has support for isight cameras. This leads me to believe that it supports camcorders, however I would download the boot camp beta an try your hardware with the software you would be using on Windows.

  • Hdmi to Thunderbolt input?

Is it possible to use my RMBP as a display for my Xbox 360. I know the HDMI out port cannot be used but what about the Hdmi to thunderbolt adaper that you can buy? I would input the Xbox and plug the hdmi cable into the adapter and connect it to thunderbolt bridge. is this possible?
    Thank you

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Only Late 2009 27-inch and newer iMacs support Target Display mode, so they can be used as external displays. However, you cannot use a MacBook Pro as an external display for a Xbox 360, even if you get the proper adapter.

  • Thunderbolt for connecting monitors.

I have a macbook pro 13 (mid 2012) with thunderbolt port, what cable do i need to connect a monitor?
are thunderbolt and minidisplay two diffrent things?

Hard to say what you need since you have not told us what input ports your monitor has.
But in general, Thunderbolt and MinidisplayPort are the same thing with respect to external monitors. You need a minidisplayPort to whatever your monitor has for an input port.
Or, if your comuter and monitor have HDMI ports you don't need an adapter you just need an HDMI cable.
But until you tell us what ports you have we are just guessing.

  • HDMI to VGA for apple TV

I have a Proscan 4:3 TV that has a VGA input that I have used in the past.
For AppleTV I am using component input now and It works fine at 480i, albeit with lower quality than I would like.
Does anyone think that there is a way to get the 1080i through HDMI to drive my VGA input?
    Thanks
    Michael

i'm not aware of one off the top of my head, but if one does exist, it would surely be more expensive than the many Component Video to VGA transcoders that are out there.

  • MiniDisplay Port for Video input on macbook pro?

Can I use my macbook pro`s MDP for video input? Wanna use my Belkin HDMI to MDP.

No. The mini-DisplayPort on a MacBook is output only. from the MBP to a display or other device.

  • Event handler for STDIN input?

    Hi,
This question will probably require a bit of context - I'm attempting to re-implement in java an application that's currently written in perl. The application is a server helper app that rewriters urls; it receives a request ID and a URL on stdin, does the necessary munging (which can require an external SOAP query), then returns the resulting rewritten URL.
Since the results can be asynchronous due to the need for external queries to build the result, this is currently a multithreaded perl app implemented using perl's POE framework to register an event handler for stdin. That handler fires each time a line of input is received, then feeds the query to a thread pool manager (POE::Component::Pool::Thread, which is conceptually similar to the Executor frameworks). The thread returns the result as a callback registered to another function in the main thread, which then populates the query/result to a cache then outputs the result (with the original query ID) on stdout. Since stdin input and the result callbacks are event-driven, there's no while(true) main loop or other blocking mechanism in the main thread. Unfortunately, it's perl-ness is causing problems due to perl's threading implementation (three words: "copy on init"), so we need to reimplement in a language with a more robust threading implementation (preferably one with copy-on-write for shared objects). So, Java it is.
So far everything's been good - Executor, Callables, and Futures work as I hoped they would for proper thread management, and the internal worker thread logic (XML processing, SOAP, regular expressions, etc) is proving rather simple to adapt. However, the main roadblock I'm hitting is that so far, I have not found a way to register any sort of event handler for STDIN input (or more specifically, InputStreamReader/BufferedStreamReader events). This could be due to search engine pollution - everything I see when I search for documentation on event listeners appears to be GUI-specific (buttons, menus, text areas/forms, etc). I'm just looking for a way to handle a line of STDIN, not a text area on a form.
Any pointers in the right direction will be much appreciated!

Maybe I need to rethink the design here...
The main reason I used a callback in the original perl is that there's a large cache structure that gets checked before the thread dispatch, and only cache misses get pushed to a thread for processing. Callbacks from the threads will then add its results to the cache. Thanks to perl's thread model, when I attempted to make the cache a shared structure - in perl, you have to explicitly mark as "shared" variables that you want visible to all threads - the structure wound up getting copied to every thread, and this gave the app an unacceptable memory footprint. So the solution was to use a callback in the main thread to update the cache.
I'm now thinking that if Java's thread model is a bit saner (i.e. a shared object doesn't get copied into every thread), then I could just have each thread update the cache, print its output to STDOUT directly, and avoid the need for the callback. I can then make my input loop simply a while() loop, waiting for the next input to dispatch. Sound sane?Yes I think so.
There is some of this I still don't entirely understand. Your loop sounds better now but it sounds to me like the process is this.
    1) read from in
    2) call some stuff on the basis of what came in
    3) do work
    4) workers produce things
    5) things written back out
    6) read back in??
If you're just going in/out then great. If you are going in/out/in then maybe some sort of PipedInput/Output Streams? It may well be that I got lost in your explanation in which case never mind.

  • Thunderbolt display using HDMI to Thunderbolt convertor

I have a latest Sony Vaio Laptop with a HDMI port. Can i connect the Apple Display using a HDMI to Thunderbolt connector. Thanks

I was wondering this too. I have an LCD display that I share with my FreeNAS server(DVI IN) and MacBook(HDMI in using display port adapter ) which works , but I'd love to switch the the thunderbolt. unfortunately there is only enough room for a single display in my workspace, so I can't have both.
hopefully either Apple or a 3rd part will come up with a way to make the TBolt more flexible.

  • Hdmi to Thunderbolt cable to use imac as display

    Hi
I want to use my Imac (2011) as a display for my gaming PC which has hdmi ports.... Not thunderbolt. If hdmi to thunderbolt isn't possible is there a Pci.
    Thanks

You will need an HDMI to MiniDisplayPort converter such as this one:
    http://www.kanexlive.com/xd
A simple cable will not work. You'll need to confirm with the manufacturer that the converter will work with your specific model of iMac.
There are no PCI slots in an iMac.

I am buying an audio interface with Firewire output, would I feed this into Firewire,USB or Thunderbolt for Garageband?

I don't have a H4 but do have a H2. Did you set the H4 as a audio interface, after you plug it in choose interface in the H4 screen?
Did you choose the H4 input channel in the track info?

I was able to hook up my ATV with HDMI. The picture came out fine and I can navagate but I get no sound. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for all your responses to my questions really appreciate it.
I have the HDMI cable hooked up directly to the TV and I do not have an optical hook up directly on the tv. The receiver is in a separate room. Not close enough to connect to the receiver. Can I connect the apple TV though my DVD player which has a HDMI port and in the same room as the receiver?

  • How do you connect 3 HDMI monitors to the new Mac Pro running Maverics. HDMI to thunderbolt adaptors only support 2 displays. The fine print in Apple docs HT 5918 indicate  the Mac Pro will only support 2 HDMIs.  Anyone found a workaround?

I am trying to connect 3 HDMI displays to a Mac Pro.  I am using a HDMI to thunderbolt adaptor and can only get 2 of the 3 displays to work.
Does anyone know of a work around.
Is there a systems configuration varaible for type of display?

USB video adapters can severely limit graphics performance.  Use ACTIVE HDMI adapters instead.
