HDMI to Thunderbolt

I am decieding wether or not to get a Thunderbolt Display. I want to know if I could play Xbox on it. Is there a HDMI to Thunderbolt so that I can play Xbox on my display?
PS: I want a Thunderbolt Display not a Apple HDMI Display.

Eamon N.,
Unfortunately, there is no amount of cabling/adapters that will allow you to do what you'd like.
I do love my Apple Thunderbolt Display, though I expect Apple will soon - perhaps with the release of the new Mac Pro - be updating the model.

  • Thunderbolt display using HDMI to Thunderbolt convertor

I have a latest Sony Vaio Laptop with a HDMI port. Can i connect the Apple Display using a HDMI to Thunderbolt connector. Thanks

I was wondering this too. I have an LCD display that I share with my FreeNAS server(DVI IN) and MacBook(HDMI in using display port adapter ) which works , but I'd love to switch the the thunderbolt. unfortunately there is only enough room for a single display in my workspace, so I can't have both.
hopefully either Apple or a 3rd part will come up with a way to make the TBolt more flexible.

  • Hdmi to thunderbolt for camera input??

We have a mid-2011 17" Macbook Pro and have a Panasonic HMC150 camera that we need to input for a Webex conference.  The camera is HDMI out.  Does anyone know if an HDMI to Thunderbolt adapter will allow the Macbook to recognize the camera?  Or is the Thunderbolt/mini-display port on the Macbook just an output.  If it WOULD work, is there a recommended adapter or must we use a powered converter?  Thanks!

Not 100% sure on this but I believe this may be what you are looking for.

  • Hdmi to Thunderbolt input?

Is it possible to use my RMBP as a display for my Xbox 360. I know the HDMI out port cannot be used but what about the Hdmi to thunderbolt adaper that you can buy? I would input the Xbox and plug the hdmi cable into the adapter and connect it to thunderbolt bridge. is this possible?
    Thank you

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Only Late 2009 27-inch and newer iMacs support Target Display mode, so they can be used as external displays. However, you cannot use a MacBook Pro as an external display for a Xbox 360, even if you get the proper adapter.

  • Hdmi to Thunderbolt cable to use imac as display

    Hi
I want to use my Imac (2011) as a display for my gaming PC which has hdmi ports.... Not thunderbolt. If hdmi to thunderbolt isn't possible is there a Pci.
    Thanks

You will need an HDMI to MiniDisplayPort converter such as this one:
    http://www.kanexlive.com/xd
A simple cable will not work. You'll need to confirm with the manufacturer that the converter will work with your specific model of iMac.
There are no PCI slots in an iMac.

  • How do you connect 3 HDMI monitors to the new Mac Pro running Maverics. HDMI to thunderbolt adaptors only support 2 displays. The fine print in Apple docs HT 5918 indicate  the Mac Pro will only support 2 HDMIs.  Anyone found a workaround?

I am trying to connect 3 HDMI displays to a Mac Pro.  I am using a HDMI to thunderbolt adaptor and can only get 2 of the 3 displays to work.
Does anyone know of a work around.
Is there a systems configuration varaible for type of display?

USB video adapters can severely limit graphics performance.  Use ACTIVE HDMI adapters instead.

  • How to deactivate 3rd Display (TV using HDMI over Thunderbolt) on my iMac without unplugging the miniDVI-HDMI Adapter evry time?

    Hi guys,
I have a question to the following setup.
I have an new iMac connected to a VGA Display and a HDMI Sharp TV (over Thunderbolt adapters)
I wanna know if there is a way to deactivate the HDMI tv (3rd Display) for example by an Apple Script?
The reason for this is that my DVB-C tv signal loses quality and you see a lot of artifacts when I plug in this TV to my iMac.
The easiest way would be to simply deactivate and activate this screen by a Apple Script button on my Desktop instead of unplugging the Adapter everytime.
    Hope you can help me!

Yes, I realized it didn't list the Mac Pro, but nothing in my local Apple store does - the Genius said this is the one they give new 2010 Mac Pro owners, and packaging was created prior to the release of new Mac Pros and 5770s.
I have headphones plugged into the front panel, but I do already have one of the stereo 1/8" to phono cables and this is a reasonable option, although another cable running to the TV doesn't thrill me due to the layout of my home office. But thanks for the suggestion - I may well end up doing this.

  • 2011 Mac Mini w/Intel HD3000 video signal loss on HDMI and Thunderbolt?

I've had this issue since I first purchased my Mac Mini back in August.  I also discussed this issue with a friend who just purchased a Mac Mini too, and he has the exact same problem.  When connected to my monitor via HDMI, the screen will flicker to green, go out, then come back on.  Sometimes I have to cycle my monitor input button before the screen returns.   Also, if I connect to my monitor via DVI to Thunderbolt adapter, the screen flickers to "snow", then cuts out intermittently. It's the same problem either way.  I'm connected to a new Asus VE276Q 27" monitor. I connect my Xbox and PC to the same display with no issues whatsoever. This is my first Mac product and I'm VERY frustrated with this problem. A firmware update was released a few months back regarding flickering when connected to an Apple Cinema display, but this had no effect on My machine. I've also verified the display refresh rate setting as well.  Anyone else out there having this problem?

I recently got the 2.3 GHz Mac Mini. I tried hooking it up to a Viewsonic VX2035 with the enclosed HDMI DVI converter. I get the same results as you. Nothing on the monitor. It says no analog signal detected. Then the monitor goes into sleep mode. I hooked it up to a  32" Westhinghouse HDTV using a HDMI cable and it works fine.

  • No HDMI and Thunderbolt- hardware not found

    Hi
I've been trying to connect my Macbook Pro to a TV via mini DP adapter and Hdmi cable but without success.
Checking through my system report, it states THUNDERBOLT - No hardware found.
Is that why I can't get to connect to an external display.

A thunderbolt adapter/cable  to HDMI should work fine in a Mini DisplayPort.
Look under About this Mac > (More info) > System Report > Graphics & Displays for your graphics devices.
What needs to happen (and often does not when dealing with TV sets) is that the TV set must be paying attention to that HDMI port when the Mac Powers on. The Mac sends a query to the device, "what is your name, and what are your capabilities?" If the device provides it, this information is reflected under Graphics and Displays.
If it is not shown, the System Preferences > Displays > (Detect Displays) Button is supposed to get the Mac to ask again.
Unless/Until that information is reflected under Graphics & Displays, the device will not show a picture.

  • Lenovo U410 (HDMI) to Thunderbolt

    Hi,
Can i connect my Lenovo u410 (HDMI) to a 27" Apple Thunderbolt monitor?
    If yes, how?
Here at work there are a lot of 27" screens eating dust.
    Many thanks.

It could be that the adapter has failed.  That sounds like the most likely cause of your problem.

  • HDMI to Thunderbolt *IN* (PS3)

    Hello,
I've been looking around and I'm only finding output options and posts from earlier this year.
Have there been any new experiences, adapters, etc that would allow me to connect a PS3 to the 2011 iMac with Thunderbolt ports(targeted display mode)?
Thanks if anyone knows a solution!

Here is the link to the adaptor.

When I bought the Mac from PC world the salesman told me this would work and that I could use the Mac as a display for my PS3.

  • Can I Use HDMI and Thunderbolt Outputs At The Same Time? And Mac App Store Issues

I have a Mid-2011 Mac Mini. I am currently using the HDMI output with an HDMI to Digital Input for a dell monitor. If I wanted to have a second monitor, can I use the Thunderbolt output with a MiniDisplayport to VGA adapter? I know it may sound a little unclear, so if you need a clarification, pelase let me know.
Also, on the same macine, I am having trouble connecting to the Mac App Store. My internet connection is working, and I've tried going into the Keychain Access and there isn't anything with a blue plus. When I go to Store --> Sign In , the sign in widnow doesn't appear.
    Thanks
    Joey

Yes, that is exactly how to use dual monitors.
    Optionally:
if the second monitor has DVI input, use the MiniDisplay Port to DVI adapter.
or if it has Display Port input, then all you need is a straight MiniDisplay Port to Display Port cable.
In Quick Links try Account if Sign In does not work.

  • Can video be imported to the Mac via HDMI, or HDMI to Thunderbolt?

I have a Panasonic HD video camera that is great for shooting footage, but we were hoping to hook this up to the Mac so that we could shoot live broadcast footage and use an editor (Wirecast Pro) on the fly while streaming to the web. My problem is, the camera does not have a firewire out port. It only has component, USB and HDMI out ports on it. I tried to connect HDMI from the camera to my MacBook Pro, but iMovie or Wirecast won't see the camera. I'm guessing the HDMI port on my MacBook Pro is output only. My next bet is to convert one of these outputs to the Thunderbolt port on my MacBook Pro. Any ideas?

Ok I am also doing live broadcast on the go i have purchased a mini display port adapter for hdmi, i have tried to connect my cannon t3i with a (mini hdmi) to the regular (hdmi) to the adapter and nothing.... Looking for a solution =(
