HDMI USB capture device

Does anyone know which USB HDMI capture devices are supported with Skype? I have already learned that a device needs a UVC driver for it to work. (USB video class) but most products dont have this information in their spec sheet. I already mailed Elgato about their HDMI USB capture products and they responded that the video can only be pulled into their application and other applications such as Skype would not detect it as a video source. Does anyone have a confirmed solution? It needs to be a USB solution so internal capture cards are not an option. And I cant exactly go buying stuff left and right and returning it before finding something that works. Greetings,

Was just looking for the same thing, I just need to capture from component. Found this from Blackmagic Design,

if it is, it doesn't work for me anymore either.  Not sure why.
I did it before posted there. Any ideas?

  • Premiere Elements doesn't see my Siig USB capture device.

The topic heading pretty much say's it all. My webcam shows up as a capture device, but not my Siig. I don't remember the model of the Siig and it's not printed on the device, but it was cheap ($29). However, the crappy capture software that came with it sees it fine, as does Windows Media Encoder. So, why not Premiere Elements?

"Premiere Elements doesn't capture video over a USB connection"
I'm a bit surprised by that, but it would perfectly explain what I'm experiencing. Thanks.

  • USB Capture device driver

    Hi,
I have written a user space USB driver for our Enciris LT101 video capture board using libusb.
Now I want to make the device appear in Video Device list and access it through quicktime. Is it possible to write a "virtual driver" using quicktime component or any other mechanism to make the device appear in video device list?
PS: I did the same under windows writing a directshow source filter and hacking the interfaces in the right way so that the device appears as if I have used AVStream kernel mode driver.
    Thanks, Malik

    Thanks for feedback,
That is already a start. I am indeed searching of keywords like "Sequence Grabber".
Do you know if I can grab already compressed video with that interface?
Is there another way to enumerate and present devices in QuickTime available "device list" that will also work for 64 bit?
    I heard about macam driver...

  • Help usb capture decives that work with FME ?

I have tried both the Dazzle dvd 100 and the pinnacle PCTV HD
pro stick and neither of them work properly, mostly give video but
no audio. has anyone tested and got a usb capture device working
with media encoder? if so what device and how

avidvid, thank you for you advice. I did check the system profiler and the device is
recognized, but to no avail. In fact it is getting worse. When I initiate log and
capture I can hear the transport working. It is moving all the time even though
the capture window is now only showing the color bars. The "beach ball" is now
constantly whirling and will only stop when the "deck" is turned of at the source.
I am worried that I have messed up the reinstall. I am really not sure how much
"stuff" I must remove from the system, or whether to reinstall the entire suite.
    Thanks again for your trouble.

That you need is set the property node of the image display to make it visible or invisible. This an example

  • HDMI capture devices for IMac

I noticed that blackmagic design are moving on to less expensive USB 3.0 in their HD video capture devices so I did a bit of lookin around to see weather the Imac or mac book pro could somehow be outfitted with usb 3.0 connections. It turns out that the mac book pro will work with a usb 3.0 card. Unfortunately though, black magic still does not doesn't show any signs of addressing support issues for apple and the usb 3.0 device compatibility issue. Does anyone know which way apple is leaning on the whole usb 3.0 thing. I'm pretty sure it offers exceptional increases in speed over even fw800. Or at least the potential for those increases as a matter of spec. And why not jump on the blueray-r while were at it.

No, there is not. HDMI options on capture cards didn't arrive until after MacPros were released and G5s were discontinued. The only capture cards that work on G5's do not offer HDMI inputs. The Intensity series are PCIe only...AJA Kona line with HDMI are PCIe only....Matrox MXO2 line are PCIe and Express34 only. And your G5 has PCI-X slots.
The AJA Kona 2, Kona LH, Decklink HD cards...things you can only find second hand...do not offer HDMI inputs. You are on a machine that was discontinued 4 years ago, HDMI support was not invented yet.

  • Opinions on low cost USB video capture devices for FMLE?

I have already tried a few such devices.  I would at least like to achieve reasonable SD at 720 X 480.  HD would be a plus, but not necessary.  My camera has HDMI, SDI, and Component and composit out.  I have already tried a couple of capture devices, and the results were as follows.
SIIG USB 2.0 Video Capture Device - JU-AV0012-S1
Pretty clear as to why this was so cheap.  It claims full NTSC support, but that is only on the input.  Output is 320 X 240 only.
DIAMOND USB 2.0 HD Game Console Video Capture Device GC500 USB 2.0 Interface
Again, this unit claims "HD" but that is only on the input.  Output is 640 x 480.  The image quality was terrible with the supplied software, or with Adobe FMLE.  Noisy, and well below full NTSC quality.  Even when fed with the component out of a Sony NX5.  Unacceptable.  Even for the bargain price at Frys.
Hauppauge HD PVR 2 Gaming Edition
Seems I bought a dud.  I went back and forth with Hauppauge support, and never could get this to be detected by FMLE, or the included software.  On doing a search online for the error message I received, I discovered many similar trouble reports on various forums.  I bought this one at a discounted price.  Perhaps this is the reason why.
The notebook I have is a Windows unit, with no expresscard slot, or 1394 input (unfortunately).  I did look briefly at the Blackmagic Intesity Shuttle, but it needs USB 3.0.
Curious to hear of any sucess with USB capture and FMLE, and with a device under (hopefully well under?)$200.

I've been streaming with the ION Video2PC capture device...it works flawlessly with no problem. The machine I've been testing it on can only pump out 480p or 540p at the most. But, I'm sure if I used it on a faster machine I would get way better results. You can find them used under $30 bucks online and unlike most cheap capture/input devices, you can access the video and audio in FMLE. Just thought, I'd share they info.

  • HDMI capture devices with Linux support?

  • Capturing Hi8 Tapes - My capture device is USB or S-Vid / Component Out.  Will Premier Pro CS6 Recognize this device?

AVerMedia DarkCrystal HD Capture SDK Video Capture Device.   I'm trying to capture the video uncompressed so I retain as much resolution as possible.  I can edit to other formats from there later.  I'll be playing these tapes from the camera.
    Link:
    B&H Photo Video
    Product description says:
    Third Party Software Support
The DarkCrystal HD Capture SDK is designed to provide interoperability with a number of widely used video editing, encoding, streaming, and playback applications found on the Windows platform. These include:
    Adobe Premiere Pro CS6
    Sony Vegas Pro 10
    Windows Media Encoder 9
    GraphEdit
    AMCap
Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder 3
    Corel VideoStudio
    CyberLink PowerDirector
    CyberLink PowerProducer
    Real Producer (v13)
    VLC Media Player
    Image J

No version of Premiere (Pro or Elements) will work with ANY device that does not connect to a Firewire port
EXCEPT... you may buy a card (I think Blackmagic is one) and then use the device driver supplied by the vendor to "link" the card to Premiere (I did this back in 2002 with a Pinnacle DV500 card)
Premiere will NOT work with a USB device... as I said above... you may use a TI chip for adding a firewire card http://forums.adobe.com/thread/940242 to then use something like a Grass Valley product

  • Usb video capture device software

i have a usb video capture device and i wanted to know if there was a program that lets you watch your vhs movies with it on your computer

    Not totally following you here.
You can get an adapter that allows you to plug, say, your VCR into the computer to copy video from a VHS to a DVD, and have it edited on the computer, is that what you are looking for?
My opinions are mine, and mine alone.

  • USB vs. PCI capture devices

Hey all, quick questions I hope someone can help me with:
    1. Are there significant differences between USB and PCI video capture devices [other than the one is USB, the other PCI] which would make one better than the other in terms of performance?
    2. Is there a way to buffer the incoming video from a capture device [in my case, a USB video grabber device] so that when recording the video and streaming it simultaneously, you don't get choppy video and slow framerate?
Thanks in advance for any help...

Sorry about the correction: in question 2 I mean I'm trying to monitor the incoming stream and record it to the HDD at the same time...sorry for any confusion...

  • Can't get driver to work with ezcap usb 2.0 video capture device on windows 8.1

I have an ezcap video capture device that works fine on my windows 7 machine but will not work in windows 8.1. The software (arcsoft 3.5)  functions properly but will not let me select the video grabber as a source. The driver itself indicates not compatible with 8.1 and the there are no drivers out there that I can find to address this issue? Any known solution would be helpful.

    Hi,
It is not from HP. Please try driver from the following link:

  • Unable to initialize capture device and device control in HDV

I shot with a Sony HVR-Z1U/Z1N and am using a Sony HDV 1080i tape deck to digitize.
I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and installed FCP Pro 5 on it. After getting over some time code issues we were chugging along, when on the 4th tape the image on the log and capture screen suddenly dissapeared (I could get audio and could see the image on the tape deck). Well after taking the tape out, checking and rechecking it I popped it back in and ever since then, I have been getting this error mssg "Unable to initialize capture device and device control."
I have tried deleting the preferences and starting from scratch. If I do that, and choose the easy setup with HDV- 1080i60, it gives me this error "Unable to locate the following external devices- HDV (1440 X 1080) 30fps.
I upgraded to FCP 5.1.2 this morning and upgraded the OS to 10.4.7 and QT to 7.1.3 and still no change.
Im at my wits end, Ive been working on this for a whole week now.
    Thank you,
    Bugs

It has been reported to take more than one attempt to correct the installation but, if properly executed on a machine without other system problems, the QT reinstall process does work. The key element here is you must reinstall QT after you trash the receipts. The process is listed below.
    x
To do a full quicktime reinstall.
Go to /library/receipts and delete any files that say Quicktime followed by a number e.g. Quicktime703.pkg
Go to the Apple quicktime site and download the appropriate version of Quicktime to your hard drive.
    Run the Quicktime installer.
Repair Disk Permissions for your System Disk (Disk Utility > Select the system disk > Repair Disk Permissions)
    Reboot
If this doesn't work, then the problem lies elsewhere:
    1. your system - user preferences, firewire ports or other system elements.
    2. your equipment - camera/deck/firewire cables.
    3. your process - not setting up the software properly or using the software erroneously.
Listed below is a troubleshooting process. Not all steps are appropriate but the general process of isolating the problem is useful.
