HDR & LIghtroom 4

When I create an HDR image in either Photomatix Pro or HDR Efex Pro, Lightroom 4 insists on downloading/stacking the processed image in All Photos instead of stacking it with theoriginals inb the respective catalog. This seriously slows down my workflow process and leaves me a bit stranded as the HDRimage are stuck in All Photos and all my other edits arein the appropriate catalog. How can I get the HDR images to download andstack inthe catalog from which the component images were uploaded?

I am using two plugins for LR4 -- Photomatix Pro latest version and HDRE Efex Pro latest version. Sometimes one delivers what I need visually and sometimes the other is better.

  • Lightroom 5.5 support for 32bit images from merging HDR in Photoshop CC 2014?

Why is it I can create a 32bit HDR image and make adjustments in ACR, but when I save it, Lightroom can't read it? Aren't they basically running the same engine? Is there a work around?

Which file format do you saving your 32bit HDR image?
From LR 4.1, Lightroom can read 32-bit floating-point images in TIFF and DNG file formats.

  • 32 Bit HDR Problem With Lightroom and Photoshop CS6

    Hello all:
In following Julieanne's Adobe TV topic here ->  http://tv.adobe.com/watch/the-complete-picture-with-julieanne-kost/quick-tip-creating-32bi t-hdr-images-in-lr-41/ a problem arises when trying to save from Photoshop CS 6. According to Julieanne you hit ctrl-s so that PS saves the HDR image and then it should show up in Lightroom. What I have found is that hitting crtrl-s saves it as a PSD file which does automatically show up in Lightroom, however Lightroom but  can't read it. If I do a save-as, and select TIFF as the extension Lightroom will not automatically see the TIFF file. I have to synchronize the folder in order to have Lightroom import it.
Why would Lightroom automatically see a PSD file (that is of no use) and not see the TIFF file?
Is there a setting in PS that will change the preferences to save as a TIFF instead of a PSD file?
Using Lightroom 4.2 and Photoshop CS6.
    Thanks,
    Terry

Go to LR's preferences > External Editing tab and change the top pop-up to TIFF and you should be all set.

  • Buttons missing in HDR Pro & Lightroom Identity Plate Anomoly

    Hello,
This is intended as a bug report, but if there is anyone with info on how to fix this, I would appreciate a reply.
    I am using Photoshop CS5 12.01 and Lightroom 3.0 in a Macbook Pro 15.4".
First, When using HDR Pro, the OK/Cancel buttons are missing from the dialog.  I have tried
a possible fix listed online (to rename the preferences file and then lanch Photoshop again) but this
does not work.  The only way I can see the buttons is to keep my dock on the left side of the screen
which I do not want to do.  I understand I can simply press the "Enter" button to apply the settings and
exit the dialog, but this is not a fix to the problem.  The software should be fixed.
Second, when I have Lightroom and PS both open, and I switch between the applications, I notice that sometimes
my custom Identity Plate (a png logo) remains at the top of the screen and overlaps the PS application
window/menu bar area.  This is a very annoying problem.  It's as if the applications are not properly refreshing the
    screen or something.
    PLEASE FIX these bugs.
    Thank you,
    Rico.

Here is the official KnowledgeBase document for the issue.
Feedback on this workaround is appreciated.

  • I can't open a 32-bit HDR file made with Photoshop HDR in Lightroom.

I can't open a 32-bit HDR file made with Photoshop HDR. I saved the file in Photoshop with the maximum compatibility-option on. In Lightroom the file doesn't show a preview and an exclamation mark in the upper right corner. Anybody an idea why and how to solve this problem?

As I said, the files must be saved in TIFF format in order for LR to recognize them.
Here's a video tutorial I've recorded explaining the workflow: Tonemap 32 bit images in Lightroom 5

  • As with others I can't export from Lightroom 4 to Elements 10 or any of the Nik products except HDR

As with others I can't export from Lightroom 4 to Elements 10 or any of the Nik products except HDR Efex pro. Surely this has been fixed? If not it is appalling. It has been going on for too long in a program that has supposed to have some integrity

I am able edit pictures in PSE (Photoshop elements) 10 BUT i am unable to edit videos in PRE (premiere elements) 10. I will uninstall LR 4.1 RC1 and then install RC2 and use a backup of the catalog. Lets see if that works.

    - Bug fixed: When tone mapping an HDR image file that was previously saved
as Radiance in Photomatix Pro, the color profile was not properly embedded.
    - Bug fixed: When strip processing option had been enabled for HDR

time made the batch return an error.
    - Bug fixed: Processing source images in the BMP format returned an error.

    >DaveBurns:CR - Can you help me understand where? I'm looking at the Plug-in Manager now with the Photomatix
plug-in selected on the left. I don't see standard LR buttons to do those actions.
That's because you're looking at the Photomatrix plugin, not one of Jeffrey's plug-ins :)
I pointed to one of Jeffrey's plug-ins to show that one button updates can be performed for LR plug-ins. It is up to the author of the plug-in to include the update items that appear in the LR Plug-in manager and Photomatrix didn't provide that capability in their plug-in.

  • Lightroom can't display HDR photos

I have five photos in light room, I want to make it a HDR photo. When I highlight all five photo, right click merge to HDR in Photoshop. When photoshop is done and I save it. Everything is fine till I try to open the photo. Lightroom and windows gallery can not show the image. Is says the image is corrupt or unsupported.

Hey I'm just copying what Adobe writes in their release notes ;-)
Jeff, I understood that the limit is either 65Kpixels on a side or 512MP. You cannot have an image of 65kpixels*8kpixels for example as that is more than 512MP and you cannot have 70kpixels*7kpixels, even though that would be below the 512MP limit. I could be wrong though and you probably know more about this than I do. You need a superbeefy machine though to be able to work with files like that without paging like nuts and having to be quite patient. The largest stitched images I have made are around 100MP 16 bits and those are quite taxing on my machines (a quad-core macPro with 10gigs is my most beefy one), so I can only shudder at the prospect of 512 MP images.

  • I have downloaded the latest version of Lightroom but I so not see the option Photo Photo Merge in order to use the new HDR

Cannot figure out what is wrong. It says my lightroom is up to date but not showing the option photo>photo merge so I can use the new HDR function in Lightroom. Is anyone else having this problem?

Contact Adobe. That is what I finally had to do. the number is 1-800-833-6687. There was a problem with a file. They took over my computer and got everything working for me.

  • I have Lightroom 5 and am trying to create some HDR Images for my Real Estate Business. I do not have the option to even be able to stack my photos. My headings are: Lightroom- File-Edit-Window-Help. Why does it not give me the option to be able to Stack?

Can i stack JPEG images or do they have to be Raw Files? The other help videos I have seen have the shortcut CommandG to stack, mine does not respond that command nor do i have a heading labeled Photos.

In order to stack images they must be all highlighted as a group. And the group must be contiguous, in other words next to each other. However, if you are talking about stacking images for the purposes of creating an HDR image, that cannot be done using Lightroom. You will need Photoshop or some other software with HDR capabilities in order to do that. It is possible to stack any file type or combination of file types, including  virtual copies.

  • How to identify HDR pictures in Lightroom?

The Canon 6D produces HDR photos from 3 intermediate pictures, and it discards the intermemdiates.  The exif data on Lightroom (5) does not seem to identify the HDR photos, and I cannot find any other way to get Lightroom to identify HDR photos.  Any ideas?   The HDR photos are generally recognizable, visually, but it would still help to have Lightroom help identify them.
    Thanks,
    Tim

If you want to display exif metadata in Lightroom, which is not decoded natively by Lightroom, you need a plugin, like
    ExifMeta
That particular plugin was written by me, but I am most certainly not pushing it.
But it is the only plugin I know of that supports (all) exif metadata for native Lightroom lib filtering and standard smart collections.
For simple on-demand viewing of exif metadata (one photo at a time), Jeffrey Friedl's Metadata Viewer plugin is excellent:

  • Does LightRoom support Raw images and HDR

I am interested in creating a number of HDR prints and am looking for the right software to get.

HDR photos must be created by some other application (not Lightroom). Once created, Lightroom can edit the HDR and print it.

  • Lightroom and HDR

I'd like to know what other people's experience has been working with Lightroom and the various HDR applications.
Photomatix:  I love how the round-trip workflow brings me right back to LR and defaults to a file name based on the original files.
Merge to HDR Pro:  I do not like having to stop in Photoshop to save and name the file before returning to LR.  Anyone have a suggestion for a better workflow when using Merge to HDR and LR?
Those are the only two programs I currently use for HDR.  Is anyone else using HDR programs from Nik or FDRtools (or anything) within their LR workflow?  What has your experience been?
    Thanks,
    ~Steve

    Hola!
I've been experimenting with HDR quite a lot lately and I've been using LR/Enfuse Plugin which uses align_image_stack and enfuse from the Hugin software (http://hugin.sourceforge.net). I've also used the settings from the website http://photoblog.edu-perez.com/2009/01/greater-depth-field-macro.html and found that it comes out rather well.
It will automatically import back into the Lightroom catalog with the name of your choosing, file format, metadata and colour space.
Overall it's a tidy little plugin all for the cost of a donation.
    Highly recommend!

  • Batch processing - HDR feature Lightroom 6 - Is this possible?

We shoot a lot of real estate interiors; is there a way to batch process sets of images (in this case 5 per shot) in Lightroom 6. I did vaguely remember seeing a video from Adobe saying that you could line up the new shot when the first was merging but that's not feasible for large batch runs and given that I am affected by the AMD Radeon problem, I would like to automate the process and not wait 4 hours to process a batch. All tips and suggestions welcome., thank you in advance.

Some others have asked for that -- add your vote and opinion to this topic in the official Adobe feedback forum: LIGHTROOM - Batch HDR
Also, I don't think the GPU is being used to accelerate HDR and panoramas: GPU notes for Lightroom CC (2015). So you're not missing out on that score.

What do you mean "recognize"? Do you mean it will not import? Or it was imported but doesn't produce a thumbnail?
